GM Fez |

Gamon's attacks are deflected, barely, by the maiden's full plate armor, twice. The result of the attack is an assault launched by the maiden herself, waiting to strike when she knew where an opponent was.
Thrust!: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
Gamon is able to step away from the blind attacks with no problem, allowing Jolon to come in and try his luck, though once again the maiden's armor saves her skin.
Order 3rd Round
Aloysia, Nicolai, Jolon, Gamon
Gray Maidens [B: 0 [blind]]

Nicolai Fortescu |

Nicolai winds down as the others mop up the remaining opposition.
Just bypass me until this combat is over. Trying to conserve spells.

Aloysia Sett |

Aloysia saunters up, and says, "Aw, you poor thing, let's stop teasing you and get this over with..."
Attack: 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 9 + 2 = 24
Damage: 1d4 + 1 + 4d8 ⇒ (4) + 1 + (7, 3, 2, 1) = 18

Gamon Neles |

Gamon barely cracks a smile at Aloysia's taunt, his face a mask of focused calm as his axe raises once, then twice, with two brutal chops.
Attack: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (13) + 14 = 27
Damage: 1d12 + 2d6 + 13 ⇒ (5) + (4, 5) + 13 = 27
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
Damage: 1d12 + 2d6 + 13 ⇒ (7) + (3, 1) + 13 = 24
Intimidate: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17

GM Fez |

Other than the corpses this room doesn't have much more than the doors to the north, south, and double doors to the east. All of the paintings of scythe wielding skeletons send Pharasma's cold embrace swirling around Jolon's skin. Or it could be his ancestors. Possibly both, for this place reeks of evil and undeath.

Nicolai Fortescu |

Nicolai spends a moment scanning the fallen Maidens for magic before looking around the room "Where to now? I'd be interested in seeing what's behind these doors they were willing to die to protect " he indicates the double doors in front of them.

Aloysia Sett |

"I like this idea, Nicolai," Aloysia says. She stares at the door with an intensity, her breathing rate is increased, she tightens and loosens her grip on her daggers repeatedly, and she has a small curl of a smile. Anyone who looks at her eyes can see that going from kill to kill has left Aloysia in a state of euphoria simultaneously with a need for more like a drug addiction.
She moves to the doors and does her routine check for traps, locks, and sound on other side.
Perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (16) + 12 = 28

Aloysia Sett |

Aloysia turns to the group, "I'm relatively certain there are undead on the other side of this door. Enjoy yourself, Jolon!"
She opens the door standing to the side of the entryway...

GM Fez |

And now the lack of trapfinding comes back to bite...
As Aloysia opens the door the skeletons painted on the wall surrounding the door breathe forth a poisonous gas and animate their scythe-wielding arms to strike from the painting as if they were real. Only Aloysia is hit by the scythe arms, everyone is affected by the poison gas.
Scythe!: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18
Only Aloysia's heightened reflexes allow her to duck out of the way of the scythe, but that doesn't stop everyone from being exposed to the poison!
I need DC 15 Fortitude saves against poison or you take 1 Charisma drain. If you fail, you'll need more fortitude saves for the next three rounds or you'll take 1d2 Charisma damage for each failure. One save cures you of the poison.
Jolon: 1d20 ⇒ 16
Nicolai: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16
Gamon: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
Skeletons: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
Zombies: 1d20 ⇒ 11
I need to get enemies on the map tonight.
Order 1st Round
Skeletons [R: 0, B: 0, G: 0, P: 0]
(Fort saves: Nicolai, Jolon, Gamon, Aloysia)
Nicolai, Jolon, Gamon
Zombies [R: 0, B: 0, G: 0, P: 0]
Aloysia

Nicolai Fortescu |

Fortitude save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
Nicolai will use his Harrow point to re-roll his Fortitude save.
Fortitude save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15

Jolon Vulture-Heart |

"You honor me and my ancestors, Aloysia," Jolon says before the gas hits his lungs like a hammer.
Fortitude Save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
He starts hacking and wheezing.
Before I do anything, how exactly does this gas hurt Charisma? Jolon's already ugly! :P

GM Fez |

Map is up.
I'm not sure. There is no description anywhere for what ungol dust actually does, but if its charisma damage I'd imagine pock marks and permanent scarring.
The skeletons on the other side of the door are quick to respond, especially with everyone getting a face full of poisonous dust. They begin crowding the doorway and Aloysia, rusted swords ready to fight. One manages to slip past her to attack Gamon, just a step behind.
Slash (A)!: 1d20 ⇒ 1
Slash (A)!: 1d20 ⇒ 6
Slash (A)!: 1d20 ⇒ 3
Slash (G)!: 1d20 ⇒ 10
These skeletons appear to have been animated for some time, the necrotic forces holding their bones together causing them to jiggle and shake, missing every slash of their weapons. These are basic skeletons and zombies, so AC 16, 4 hp for skelies, and AC 12, 12 hp for the zoms
Order 1st Round
Skeletons [R: 0, B: 0, G: 0, P: 0]
(Fort save: Aloysia)
Nicolai, Jolon, Gamon
Zombies [R: 0, B: 0, G: 0, P: 0]
Aloysia

Nicolai Fortescu |

Nicolai steps back from the door and pull the wand from his sleeve. "Augifico" he intones as he aims the wand at Gamon, causing him to double in size. "Go get 'em, big guy." he says with a smile.

Aloysia Sett |

Damn, I thought I nailed that perception roll too...sorry everyone!
Fortitude: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Stupid Rogue saves, I'll use my harrow point too
Fortitude: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19

Gamon Neles |

A smile stretches across Gamon's broadened face as he quickly takes out the two nearest undead. Not sure from the map icons if the nearest creatures are zombies or skeletons, but he can one-shot either type, so he'll take out the green and purple enemies right next to him.
Attack: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (17) + 12 = 29
Damage: 3d6 + 13 ⇒ (1, 6, 4) + 13 = 24
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Damage: 3d6 + 13 ⇒ (4, 6, 2) + 13 = 25

Aloysia Sett |

Oh that makes complete sense!
Aloysia keeps herself positioned in front of the unopened door to force a bottleneck at the open door and readies and attack for the first zombie to get into position for a flanking attack.

GM Fez |

The skeletons continue their mindless assault, the one before Aloysia attacking with its scimitar and claws, while the second remaining skeleton moves into the room to attack Gamon And drawing an AoO from the man in the process.
Slash (A)!: 1d20 ⇒ 10
Claw (A)!: 1d20 - 4 ⇒ (9) - 4 = 5
Slash (G)!: 1d20 ⇒ 8
As expected for adventurers of your caliber they do nothing worth noting.
Order 2nd Round
Skeletons [R: 0, B: 0]
(AoO Aloysia, Gamon)
Nicolai, Jolon, Gamon
Zombies [R: 0, B: 0, G: 0, P: 0]

Gamon Neles |

AoO: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (7) + 12 = 19
Damage: 3d6 + 13 ⇒ (2, 2, 2) + 13 = 19
Barely even paying attention to their undead foes, Gamon's axe claims three more non-lifes as he looks around for any sign of the more formidable foes they faced upstairs.
Attack: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (19) + 12 = 31
Damage: 3d6 + 13 ⇒ (5, 3, 3) + 13 = 24
AoO: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Damage: 3d6 + 13 ⇒ (5, 2, 6) + 13 = 26

Nicolai Fortescu |

Enlarge Person rounds: Gamon: 9/10; Jolon:10/10
With the wand still out Nicolai uses it again, this time on Jolon.

Jolon Vulture-Heart |

Fortitude Save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Charisma Damage: 1d2 ⇒ 1
"Not necessary, but thank you," Jolon says, holding out his holy symbol and speaking a single word: "BURN."
Channel Energy: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 4, 4) = 11
DC 15 Will Save for half damage

Nicolai Fortescu |

With Jolon declining the spell, Nicolai returns the wand to it's sheath and kicks back to watch the others work.
Just bypass Nicolai until this combat is over.

GM Fez |

Will (G)!: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Will (P)!: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Will (B)!: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Will (Skel): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Jolon's holy fire burns through most of the zombies, obliterates the last skeleton, and allows Gamon to step lightly into the gap and finish off all but one. Aloysia moves in and gives it a final slash, dropping it where it stands. Took Aloysia's AoO roll as an attack and followed the preferential order of enemy destruction among moves. Combat over!
With all the enemies defeated you are able to take a better look at the room you are in. Behind thick panes of glass, fragments and even whole bodies of the living dead line the walls and floor of this chamber. Their rotting faces sneer and broken fingers claw at each other as the shattered forms twitch in vain, their splintered appendages grasping hopelessly. Yet rather than some massive, nightmarish grave, this horror show seems instead to be a stomach-churning attempt at art.

Nicolai Fortescu |

Nicolai stomach churns as he looks on the horrifying tableau "Welcome to the Pallid Princess' parlor." he says. "See, that shit right there is going to give me nightmares.

Gamon Neles |

Visibly repulsed, Gamon looks around as if seeking something normal to set his gaze upon. It's already giving me nightmares and I'm not even asleep yet. Let's move on so we can get out of here as fast as we can.

Jolon Vulture-Heart |

Jolon glowers, but doesn't seem as grossed out as the others.
"And I thought that elf and Rolth's desecrations were disgusting. Bishop D'Bear will want to cleanse this place, with fire if need be."
He nods to Aloysia to lead the way.

Aloysia Sett |

[ooc]Works for me![/dice]
Aloysia drops into her muscle memory scouting stance and slides towards the double doors to investigate for locks, traps, and sounds...
Perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (7) + 12 = 19

Nicolai Fortescu |

"Wait a second, Aloysia" Nicolai says, holding up a hand. "I've got a new spell I've waiting to try out." He begins casting his spell and calls out "Oculus Magicae" as he finishes with a flourish. Once he's done he explains "I've created a magic "eye" if you will, which will allow me to see what's in all these rooms before we enter" So saying he'll send the sensor under the double doors to see what's behind it.
Nicolai will cast Arcane Eye and send it into the room, assuming that there is space for it to go under.

GM Fez |

Nicolai's eye sees something disturbing. An enormous amount of people waiting on the other side of the doors. They appear to know you're coming and have set themselves up to take advantage of that fact. There are five Physicians scattered about the ground floor of the room, interspersed between enormous bubbling vats. Among them are four others in robes and breastplates wielding scythes. Two more scythe wielders are on the catwalks above the vats, flanking a gray and greasy man covered in leather robes with pockets full of surgical and mortician's tools. He bears a striking resemblance to Gaedren Lamm, even under all the pockmarks and scarring.

Nicolai Fortescu |

Nicolai relays the information coming in from his "eye" to the group. "and there is someone there who looks like a younger version of Lamm. Does anyone know if he had any children or other relatives?"
Knowledge (local): 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (18) + 14 = 32
"I have a plan, but it will take some time to set up."
See the Discussion thread for Nic's plan

Jolon Vulture-Heart |

"Rolth," Jolon says, his grip on his sword tightening. "The very desecrator whose work we've been cleaning up throughout the city...it is not surprising to find him at the heart of this conspiracy."

Nicolai Fortescu |

With everyone's agreement, Nicolai begins casting his spells. First on himself then on the others. He waits until either Gamon or Jolon open the doors before casting the greater invisibility on Aloysia.
Spells a'burning (rounds remaining)
Nicolai: Fly (66/70); Shield (7/10)
Gamon: Enlarge Person (8/10)

Nicolai Fortescu |

Nicolai calls out for Gamon to wait.
If Gamon will delay until after me
Ncolai casts his spell "Celero" he calls out as he finishes. Suddenly everyone around him finds themselves moving faster than before.
Nicolai casts Haste on everyone.
Spells a'burning (rounds remaining)

Gamon: Enlarge Person (7/10)
Jolon: Enlarge Person (8/10)
Aloysia: Greater Invisibilty (6/7)
Everyone: Haste 7/7

Gamon Neles |

After waiting for Nicolai to cast his final spell, Gamon bursts into the room, an unnaturally fast colossus ready to wreak destruction on the first person he sees. Upon finding a cultist directly in front of him, he sizes them up and strikes out at once.
Attack: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (15) + 15 = 30
Damage: 3d6 + 15 ⇒ (3, 5, 6) + 15 = 29
If the cultist is still upright after his monstrous blow, Gamon stares them down, as if daring him to respond in kind.
Intimidate: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17

GM Fez |

Jolon, are you casting it on everyone or specific people?
The shouting and clamor that come when Gamon crashes through the doors is immense. The cultists and physicians bellow cries to the Pallid Princess with weapons raised while Rolth sneers down from the catwalk. When he realizes Gamon and Jolon are nearly eye to eye with him he splutters, but manages to maintain his composure. "Oh good," his voice is disturbingly crisp and refined for a mass murderer and necromancer. "I was hoping to add more servants to my collection."
The Queen's Physicians all flow forth, working to contain Gamon before he really gets going. AoO vs one of the physicians.
Bash!: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 5 + 2 = 21
Smash!: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 5 + 2 = 16
Crash!: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Thrash!: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Mash!: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10 Disregard if a physician is dealt 23 damage vs AC 16
Damage: 1d6 + 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + (6, 5) + 2 = 16
Rolth points a pockmarked hand at Gamon, firing off a ray of coruscating energy from it. A DC 16 Spellcraft check reveals this to be a ray of enfeeblement.
Ray!: 1d20 + 6 - 4 ⇒ (20) + 6 - 4 = 22
Crit?: 1d20 + 6 - 4 ⇒ (3) + 6 - 4 = 5
Strength Penalty: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9 A DC 18 Fortitude save will reduce the strength penalty by half.
Order 1st Round

AoO: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (6) + 15 = 21
Damage: 3d6 + 15 ⇒ (6, 6, 5) + 15 = 32
Oof, even half that strength penalty is harsh. Do we round up or down on 9/2?
