"Those are too powerful to fit in a potion," Wulessa explains.
Potions can only be made for spells up to 3rd level.
| EndlessForms |
Anyone else have a suggestion? We're almost done. Once you choose your potion we'll move in to the final combat.
Xukong
|
Xukong snaps its fingers; the sound is cold and resonant.
"Heroism?"
Natula Icosagon Thako
|
I was going to suggest guidance to help us to decide. ;) Failing that Natula could certainly use something with the word cure in its name.
Xukong
|
Oh, you could, couldn't you? I don't think any of us noticed that.
The odor of blood suddenly catches Xukong's attention, drawing it to Natula's wounds. Xukong lingers over them for a moment, then draws its coral pitchfork wand and presses it to them.
There you go. Infernal healing.
Jaren Ward
|
Jaren thuds the butt of his spear against the ground, leaning on it.
Well, at least we expect this fight. I'm not too keen on surprises... I won't need any potions for myself, so have at it.

At Xukong's suggestion, a potion of infernal healing manifests before you. You have time to use it before the scene-shift if you want.
When you are ready to move on, Wulessa grabs hold of either side of the wall hanging she inhabits and pulls. The hanging opens like a door, opening back to the hallway you were in before.
The passage opens upon a tunnel to oblivion. The smooth glass walls end abruptly in a maw open to the void. The crystalline structure floating in the void’s heart somehow hovers mere feet away from the tunnel’s end. From this close, it resembles a torus of jagged crystals, slowly revolving around a core of flashing light and mist.
The crystals move and form in the room before you. Each of you at first sees their own image in the form with two large differences: you have four arms, the extra pair splitting off at your elbows, and you have a head of crystalline torus hovering above the shoulders. In two of its hands it holds a longspear.

Initiative:
1. Wyconda, Jaren, Xukong, Piety, Rogzul, and Natula
2. The Archivist
You guys are up!
Wyconda Sunaki
|
I think he was using infernal healing rather than asking for one. Regardless...
Wyconda moves in on the Archivist, hoping to still have an opening and catching him off guard. With both hands, he swings his katana.
"Shadow conjuration or not, you will give back what you took!"
Power attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
1d8 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
Crit confirm?: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 1 = 8 Booooo... And already used my reroll.
1d8 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Xukong

I think he was using infernal healing rather than asking for one. Regardless...
Yes I was - and Xukong didn't name that spell out loud, either. How about we say it was a potion of heroism (the last spell I did mention), which I drank?
I enchant my sword with an Arcane point and use Spell combat to attack and cast daze (DC 14).
+1 bastard sword: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
damage: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13

Oh, ok, I misunderstood on the potion. Heroism it is then.
@Xukong: also, spell combat is a full-round action but you had to move up to the Archivist to attack with your sword so you only could have done a spell or an attack this round, not both. I'll be nice and ignore that nat 1 on your sword attack and use the spell for your standard, with your move action putting you next to it.
Will: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
Wyconda deals a devastating blow to the strange creature but Xukong's magic does not take hold. Natula's magic, on the other hand, is very effective in pushing the creature back against the swirling void, although it avoids falling in.
Initiative:
1. Wyconda, Jaren, Xukong, Piety, Rogzul, and Natula
2. The Archivist (14 dmg)
Jaren, Piety, and Rogzul are up!
Jaren Ward
|
Jaren darts forward, and takes a position in between Wyconda and Rozgul, stabbing out with his spear.
Attack, Arcane Strike, Power Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Rogzul the Whisperer
|
Rogzul will move up 15ft and attempt to cast on the archivist.
I'm on my phone and can't move, if someone could play e my token in its new spot I'd appreciate it.

Will: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Will: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Jaren's spear stabs deep into the many-limbed crystalline creature. Rogzul's magic does not catch but Piety brings ill luck down on the archivist, who stabs back at Wyconda for hurting it the most!
longspear: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
longspear: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Initiative:
1. Wyconda, Jaren, Xukong, Piety, Rogzul, and Natula
2. The Archivist (21 dmg, misfortune)
You guys are up!
Xukong
|
Once more with feeling - 5-foot step and Spell Combat, casting daze!
+1 bastard sword: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
damage: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13 Wait, subtract 2 from that.
defensive casting concentration: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
| EndlessForms |
Xukong swings but misses, unable to get their spell off either.
Initiative:
1. Wyconda, Jaren, Xukong, Piety, Rogzul, and Natula
2. The Archivist (21 dmg, misfortune)
Wyconda, Jaren, Piety, Rogzul, and Natula are up!
Natula Icosagon Thako
|
Initiative:
1. Wyconda, Jaren, Xukong, Piety, Rogzul, and Natula
2. The Archivist (21 dmg, misfortune, damp, and not hurled screaming into a bottomless abyss)
Natula retrieves her spell book, opens it to the page marked hydraulic push, tears it out, crumpling it in her fist, before tossing it into the bottomless abyss. If she had memorized ghost sound today it would be screaming.
"Sorry? What? Oh."
ray of frost (ranged touch, into melee): 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (17) + 2 - 4 = 15 damage: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
| EndlessForms |
2. The Archivist (21 dmg, misfortune, damp, and not hurled screaming into a bottomless abyss)
Well, it is sort of his realm. Cool idea though! If the scenario had given rules for what happens when you fall in I might have gone with it but I couldn't find anything.
Natula Icosagon Thako
|
Hey, no worries, it's just that I know what would happen if I fell into my basement. ;P If only I hoarded more.
Rogzul the Whisperer
|
Rogzuls eyes turn black as he communes with the spirits, once again relying on the only spell that ever seems to work for him.
Stardust (Su): Shaman causes one target within 30ft to shed light as a candle. Target can not benefit from concealment and takes a -1 penalty on attack rolls and sight based perception checks. DC14 Will.

Wyconda's attack shatters the creature and the creature's control over the mindscape ends. The body fades away and a simple wooden door appears at the edge of the void. The door opens with a touch and offers a view of the seance circle back in the material world. You pass through the door and awaken in Farseer Tower, still clasping hands in the ritual circle. Wulessa Yuul opens her eyes as well, and apologizes to you for her error in judgement. She returns the scroll to the chest, declaring that she intends further study of the Monadistic Archive, but first clearly more research is needed into proper safeguards. She gives you her sincerest thanks and praise for your services and her release.
And that's it! The game has been reported and chronicles sent. Thanks for playing, everyone! Hope you had fun!
