COMBAT OVER
Dining Hall to the North
Library to the East
When you enter the library, you find that it extends to the north as well. You can tell that, much like the barracks, the library has been ransacked. Only some austere pieces of stone furniture remain, including shelves containing a few dozen scattered and damaged books. Most of the surviving books cover topics like Lastwall history, methods for slaying undead, or Netherworld flora and fauna. A pile of book ash lies in the center of the room.
Each PC searching can make a DC 25 Perception check to discover 1 of 3 facts
Astrid Gertasdottir

Astrid looks at the few intact books and shrugs. "We might as well take what's left. You never know what the eggheads down in the archives will find interesting." factoid: 1d2 ⇒ 1
One of the shelves contains only books that have recently been added. All of these tomes pertain to contract law, and are written in a variety of languages, including Common, Diabolic, Necril, and Shadowtongue.

legal lore: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (19) + 16 = 35
Astrid examines the books as she loads them into her satchel. She reads some of the titles aloud. "Diabolic Contracts for Dummies, Contract Law: Ballzepit v Jones and Other Disputes, Getting to Yes: Negotiating Agreement Without Giving In, The Brimstone Tech Contracts Handbook, Otherworldly Associations, Binding Contracts and the Dire Results of Breaching. Oh this one is illustrated." She opens the book and flips through it.

I am flying on December 20th and January 4th, but will likely not post after the 18th or 19th.
Quinoline will make her daily preparations as she did for this current day (which is different from the default in her character bio).
1. Greater darkvision elixir [24 h] (Quinoline, consumed immediately)
2. Greater mistform elixir [5 min] (Arrus)
3. Greater mistform elixir [5 min] (Astrid)
4. Greater cheetah's elixir [1 h, 10'] (Astrid)

6. Moderate bravo's brew [1 h, +2/+3] (Lydia)

With your final preparations done, you head down the stairwell that the statues were guarding.
The staircase descends, with each step growing darker than the last. Suddenly, light fills the area, revealing a multitude of staircases pointing in different directions, each with its own idea of gravity. On one leftward staircase, a wandering ghost climbs to the top, only to be cast back down to the bottom once again. On an upside-down staircase, a soul wails, bashing its spectral head repeatedly against the unyielding stone.
Thanks to the mythic power (way back in the beginning), you are able to break through the prison.
Most of the wandering souls are too distraught and disoriented to speak, but one has retained his presence of mind. His name is Thovar. You recognize his armor and appearance as matching the man whose body they found in the webbing. Thovar explains that Penumbra designed the prison based on some of the research she put into her soul cage, combined with power granted from the warshard. She designed it to be inescapable for any being with a soul. Currently, it is filled with hundreds of souls, including all those she extracted from the fortress’s former inhabitants.
Each PC can attempt two skill checks or saving throws to find a way through the maze.
DC: 26 (Lore), 28 (non-Lore)
Sample Strategies:
** Will to resist the maze’s confounding effects
** Arcana/Religion to analyze the prison’s structure
** Survival/Engineering Lore to make sense of the strange geometry
** Acrobatics to leap into the voids and make sense of the unusual gravity.
** Make it fit; I'm an easy sell
Skill/Save results earn Maze Points (MP) as follows:
CS/S/F/CF - +2/+1/0/-1
You need at least 6 successes for the best outcome

Greater mistform elixir, for 5 minutes of concealment for Arrus. Crossbow out and loaded. Wand of Longstrider active every morning(can't crit fail the trick magic item chcek). Will also turn on the goggles of night for dark vision(1 hour). If it's obvious there's something dangerous I'll also activate Gravity weapon, but if it's at all iffy I'll hold off on that one due to the short duration.
Lydia by redeux

depends on how much buffing we can do...Lydia has See the Unseen and Heroism which are both 10 minute duration so would cast those on herself. If there's something obvious/immediate danger then she'd cast cast Haste on herself.

Quinoline drinks her greater darkvision elixir at the beginning of the day, and it lasts 24 hours.
She'll drink her bravo's brew and eagle-eye elixir when danger is near, and both last 1 hour.
She'll hold and drink her mistform elixir at the last minute, and it lasts for 5 minutes.
Lydia - per yesterday's preparations, Quinoline made a greater darkvision elixir and a bravos brew for you.
GM - should we update our taglines with our buffs?

You easily make it through the stairwell. You not only manage to break the soul labyrinth. The stairwell disappears, turning into a simple hallway. The joyful souls escape. Astrid avoids the worst of the blast and catches the remainder on her shield. "Ha! You'll have to do better than that!"

Astrid ducks under her shield and lets the flames wash over her.

Special Conditions:
* Once per round, Thovar can manifest a brilliant shield, emblazoned with the holy symbol of Iomedae. This gives a PC who would take damage Resistance 11 to all damage by the triggering effect
* Cannot severe shadowpact of Penumbra (a shadowpact is a pact with her; kinda hard to sever that!).

Reflex(M), DC 29: 1d20 + 23 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 23 + 1 = 27
Since it is at the end of the round I'm going to go ahead and use that 1x/round reaction to make sure it gets used by someone
Fail -> 8 damage
Lydia is embarrassingly caught off guard by the fireball but Thovar's shield shields her from most of it.
Quinoline Silicate
|
Reflex: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (1) + 21 = 22
Not going to Hero Point that, since it's just Hit Point damage.
"Billions of blistering barnacles!" Quinoline yells, as the fireball causes her to drop all the carefully-swept shards of glass. "That's it, I'll clean it up later."
Quinoline throws a hastily-crafted bomb at Blue, and then moves up to sever the shadowpact of Blue.
Bottled Lightning, 1st range increment: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (15) + 23 = 38
Electricity: 3d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 2) = 7 plus 11 splash electricity plus off-guard (1 round) plus DC 31 Fortitude vs dazzled (1 round)
Will not limit splash to target - on a F, S, or CS, Red, White, and Blue will all take the splash damage.
Occultism: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (14) + 23 = 37 vs DC 28
