The fungus is the same fungus that has been through the entire area so far. As such, you don't really have any more insight on the stuff. You try to peer through the yellow filaments, but your vision is completely blocked. It looks like you would have to move the 'curtains' or go through them to see the other side.
G'Boar S. Hulighan

G'Boar offers up an arrow to use to open the "curtains" incase the vines get "grabby."

Lissa Villasani

There goes any sense of surprise we might of had.
With a shrug, Lissa looks back at Dariusz. "If we don't check this out now, it could bite us in the ass later. We should do this now."
She then moves farther forward, and through the caked pile of fungus that's covering the floor up to the wall between the two openings as she draws her cold iron dagger. From here, she looks at the 'curtain' to see how she can cut them down quickly, so the others can quickly rush into the rooms behind the curtains. After studying them, she'll look back at the others and gesture for the others to come forward.
Dariusz Reyman

Dariusz follows closely on Lissa's heels. "Whatever you say, Miss. Don't blame my if it goes sideways, though..." He smirks and hefts his axe on his shoulder, before giving her a small bow. "Ladies first."

Boris steps up to the curtain, poking at it thoughtfully with his torch. "We could to burn. Boris have oil."

Xarkyn silently moves over to a corner on the north side wall watching the hallway leading up to the group to discourage anyone or anything from bothering them as they check the curtain out. She says not a word but motions her intent to the others as they discuss options.
Boris "Love" Derevnya Jarlson
|
Waiting in the tense silence that follows, Boris shrugs when noone seems to agree with the magus' fiery plan and moves in first, his torch leading the way through the fungus curtains.
Please not to hallucinate, Shelyn. Boris give much love at temple. Not kinky love neither, good hug-love.

Volar moves up next to Lissa ready to support his allies against the much feared curtain of filaments.
"Let us move forward friends. There could be more prisoners that we do not yet know about!"
| GM Bold Strider |
Boris moves forward through the hanging filaments. They feel a bit slimy to the hulking man as he leads the way and part them, quickly disappearing inside.
The filaments quickly settle back into place as you hear the sound of a bowstring twang and Boris gives out a cry.

Can we see the ones next to us? F.e. if I move Clara 5 ft. east, can I see Volar? Is it possible to move through the darkness until Clara bumps into somebody? Not sure how movement works in darkness, I assume quarter speed or something.

Typically the way darkness works is that noone can see anything within it. What you are thinking of is obscuring mist, which isn't nearly as bad. This is the stuff TPKs are made of. I do have some suggestions for my fellow party members but I do not want to meta, since the character is dreaming/readying himself for a good old fashioned Coup-de-Grace. I had such high hopes for this character too :(
| GM Bold Strider |
Boris is correct. There is no seeing anything near you. It just plunges the area into Darkness (not Supernatural Darkness), so only creatures with Darkvision can see.
Moving through Darkness (or while Blind) is half speed unless you make an Acrobatics check. Perception checks can be used to hear where creatures are in darkness but are possibly opposed by their Stealth check.
Darkness at 1-2 is what TPKs are made from, especially as you have no one with Darkvision.
Clara moves into the darkness slowly and identifies a breathing creature near her, so she lashes out with her morningstar, but it just hits air.

This is impossible! This little demon has enough control over the light in the area to the point that we can't do anything! Lissa thinks pessimistically. And since we don't have any more skill then him.....
Wait a minute. We don't have more magical potency then him, but the dwarves that built the place did! With an unseen grin, Lissa whispers to G'boar, "I have an idea. Try to lead a retreat, and it, toward the forge..."
Then the young Varisian bolts out along the edge of the cloud of darkness (along the light blue line, double move) and into the forge room. As she bolts into the room, Lissa looks desperately for something ,-anything- ,that she can use to either pull something out of the kiln as a magical light source, or something that can 'catch' some of that magic also for use as a light against the darkness.

The Ranger feels conflicted. He understands the importance of fighting on the ground of your own choosing, but he hesitates about leaving wounded teammates behind (as he himself was in such a predicament mere moments ago).
As he sees the edge of blackness ebb and flow as though some backwards, capricious lantern was in play, he puts his bow away and draws his exquisite longsword. Since you are unable to see, you have the Blind condition, which imparts penalties.
