Rowena is going to feel so bad about joining in with a doppelganger to tease Trevor.

Rauno, not applicable here, but if the situation ever comes up in the future (which it probably will) I don't think it would be too meta-gamey, given Rowena's obvious demonstrations of her ki throw ability, for Rauno to decide on an area to effect with a spell like that and hold off, asking Rowena to "toss some guys over there".

However, here, there's no way she can throw anybody anyplace useful without also getting Jirin in the spell (and we're already going to have our work cut our for us getting her to trust us as being her friends).


I was thinking that too. If there was more room, I was thinking about using Black Tentacles, then letting Ro throw a bunch of them into the area of effect. I don't think it would be too meta-gamey to do that.

Sorry about that post on Haste early. I had forgotten that I'd already used bonded object to cast Stoneskin; when I cast Haste the first time, I did so with the thought that I could do it again if I needed to with bonded object.

I think those are all excellent plans. This room of course it would be horrible, but interesting!

We had a party once where the wizard would cast it and the fighter and rogue both had freedom of movement rings. Sometimes it worked well....sometimes not so good, but always interesting!

By the way, I forgot one items of note in the loot found with the last doppelganger fight. The doppelganger impersonating Jirin had a sapphire worth 2,000gp. It glows magical and when picked up it allows you to use detect thoughts on the gem. The gem currently holds Jirin's memories.

She does have all of her memories, it is like a copy of them. (Though for privacy it would be best for her to have it)


Well I am almost done with my conversion to Pathfinder for Chapter 11 of Age of Worms. Maybe 30 mins to an hour left. Bad guys are tough to convert at super high levels. They really seem impossible to defeat when running games at this level. But I find they usually tend to be disappointments when I actually run them!

Sorry I have been doing a rolling update since I didn't want the posts getting too long and losing them and having to start over!


On the meta-game side if you want to know why he had some extra actions and took quite the beating read below. If you don't care...skip it! However I want to make sure I have the villains play by the rules as you have to, even if I get bend them in my favor with terrain/etc.

Spoiler:
In the hawk faced wizard form he had already cast some longer term buffs before you got in there (He knew you were coming in the mirror maze).

Rauno cast haste so he cast slow to counter it.

Next round confusion.

Third round he cast dimension door. (As a point of contention in my home games, my players hate and partially disagree that dim door or teleport would allow someone to appear standing. I like the flavor of that whether or not it is how it is supposed to work, so remember that for your own bag of tricks if it ever comes up). He shape changed into the half-orc (Free action), raged and drew his weapon.

As a rage power he had unexpected strike which allowed him an AoO when Rowena approached. He also had roused anger in case he gets the chance to shape change back into wizard form (which he almost did then i would have fireballed.) Instead I used it to gain another use of enexpected strike (Which failed miserably as I rolled poorly)


Interesting summary. I was puzzled enough by his abilities that I was actually considering taking a round to disbelieve illusions. Great encounter, and run extremely well!
