Roman swing hits the Axeman and he finally falls to ground dead. Justice has been delivered to Kal son of Thran. The other two thugs wounded and seeing their leader die, make a break into the near woods. The Bandits knowing the way in the Darking Forest run off leaving no room for pursuit. The party hears a new foot steps coming down the well traveled trail. A young Halfling approaches. As he does before he speaks the Gnome looks over to the group. I will continue on my patrol. How rude of me I am Darafane the Green Knight of Lurue. I am on a quest to destroy those who are despoiling the sacred groves here! I was out on patrol when I heard your battle, does anyone need anything of me before I leave? Dara asks the group. At this point the introductions need to be made etc.. I will reward Inspiration for RPing keep that in mind!

Male Lightfoot Halfling Cleric/2

Feather Wind looks over the group. "Ahoy!, how be you? you be good at fightin'." You can tell by the way he talks that this little hallfling is not from around these parts. "forgive me, me name be Feather Wind."

Well met, Featherwind and Green Knight. I am Rolen Philandril, at your service. It seems that you missed all of the fun here. Are the bandits common in the area of your patrols?

After a half bow, Rolen turns to the remaining bodies as he speaks and begins to search them thoroughly.

Male Lightfoot Halfling Cleric/2

Feather Wind looks over the bodies and sees if there is any still alive. Medicine Wis: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6 "I think they be went t' Davy Jones' locker"
Then he proceeds to check the rest of the party.

There is only one body.
As Feather can see the group is ok. Rolan search turns up a map. The map shows a house further down the trail and then a what appears to be a grove.
See everyone on Monday !

Varis is surprised at the sudden appearance of these people. He bows to the Green Knight.

"Our thanks Sir Knight. It is good that one such as you is patrolling the groves. We are searching for 2 priests who were taken and have tracked them into these woods. Have you happened across any sign of others out here?"

He waits for a reply, then turns and thanks all the newcomers.

"We were very lucky that you all heard us and came to our aid. We are on a mission for the High King and his court to locate 2 missing priests. If you are still in a 'giving' mood, we could use such stout adventurers by our side. Is that not right Lynore?"

Lastly he will search the dead bandit for clues.

Rolen looks at the map for a moment, then hands it to Varis.

Looks like a house and grove further down the trail. Should we investigate?

Female Wood Elf Cleric / 3

Well met, I am Lynore.
Varis is quite right we would be happy for your assistance."

Varis sets the map down so everyone can see it.

"Well it looks like the only structure around. Perhaps they are holding the priests there. I think we should check it out. What do the rest of you think?"

Rolen approaches Roman.

Good to see you again, Roman. Let me know what Ajax sees, and I will approach stealthily to scout if there is no exterior threat .

Dara bows and says I have not seen any priests of late. There is a Grove up ahead that I say 10 day ago was fine. I have heard of other bandits in the area. I will be on my way now. He bows and then leaves the area.
Ajax reports there is house that up ahead but there lots of trees.
Outside of the that the trail lies ahead and the priests need help!

Lynore whispers a prayer over Rolen.

"May the blessings of Lady Luck go with you."

"Ajax tells me that there is a house up ahead. But there is heavy foliage, so we will still need your tracking, Rolen."

Thank you, Lynore, but my cloak will aid me in this endeavor. Allow me to move ahead, and I will return after examining the house and the trail ahead.

Rolan:
Rolan moves ahead and comes to barren rocky hill. The trees still cover it from the sky. As he moves up the hill there is sparse clumps of grass, banks of moss and wild flowers. A old half ruined empty cabin stands there. You will need to move closer if you want to explore the inside. It is getting dark now.

The group sees Rolan disappear into the woods. A hour passed and you notice it is getting dark. Does the group move on to house that is up ahead or wait for Rolan?

DM Ashman:
Rolen, after he is fairly certain that the cabin is empty returns to the group.

Rolen emerges from the shadows as nightfall has come. He pulls his hood down and addresses the group.

There is a barren rocky hill ahead and the cabin is empty as far as I can tell. However, I did not investigate the inside. I say we push forward to the structure and make camp. Let's light some torches or cast some light spells.

He turns and draws his bow and awaits the others before advancing on the point. He will first pull up his hood.

The group moves up the to the hill with no issues. As you each approach the cabin. You notice that is open, as you each enter in. You see evidence of past fights and murders. Old bloodstains on the stone hearth, human bones and rusted weapons. In one corner of the cabin is an open pit dug out of the earth and stone. In lies a human skeleton sprawled atop a corner of an open crate. There is dirt and lose rocks, but you can see coins and gems. There is 4 huge rubies and 1 sapphire.

What do you do?

I agree, it is a very defensible position.

Varis seem anxious, but with a sigh, nods his head.

"I do not think we can accomplish much more in this rain and darkness. Lets give this place a good once over. We do not want any surprises during the night!"

Roman shakes his head at the skeleton.

"Well, it looks like he probably won't be rising up in the middle of the night. I wish we weren't in such a hurry though, otherwise I'd bury him."

Roman helps Varis look around the cabin, ostensibly for a sheet that can be used to cover the skeleton, but he keeps his eye open for anything else.
