Fallen Fortress
Hey everyone! I'm really excited to get things going. One thing I wanted to discuss first—does anyone who included a little PFS flavor in their backstory mind backing up just a bit? The first scenario I want to run, Master of the Fallen Fortress, works best if you're not yet members of the Pathfinder Society (and is how, I believe, it is supposed to be run for PFS Organized Play).
Please let me know if you have any issues with that and we'll figure it out!

Happy to! I'll adjust the bio straight-away!
Also, thanks for the selection! This looks like it'll be a fun group.
PS: my wife and I are going on a cruise with her family from Monday to Friday next week. I should be able to post until Monday morning, and start back Saturday.
Thanks.

Fine by me. Easy enough edit to my bio. Very much looking forward to this.
I'm posting from New Zealand here, so time differences of my posts might be notable.

Not a problem, I'll just make a quick edit.
Just a couple other things as we wait for everyone to check in:
1. Please make sure that your full stat block is in your profile; it's helpful for me in case I have to make some rolls for you, or if I need to see things like ACs and saves.
2. As I said in #1, I'll be making some rolls for you. Definitely initiative when combat starts, but also possibly things like Perception, etc. if I think it makes more sense for me to roll. Let me know if you have any issues with that.
3. During combat, there are just a few things that I'd like you to try to do before each post:
a. Start with you status at the top of your post. Something like HP: 9/9 (any conditions you might have—sickened, fatigued, etc.)
b. Then describe your actions in non-game terms.
c. Then, using the out of combat formatting, describe your actions in game.
Free action: 5-foot step to move out of combat with the goblin
Standard action: Cast Color Spray

Put the mentioned stats in V's info bar. Think of anything else you might need?

Checking in; no prob on removing prior Society contact from background!

That's perfectly fine with me. I actually favor that kind of writing style, and organization; everything recorded in the post rather than all over the place.

I would like to purchase a potion of CLW before starting. I've got the funds, but if it would better to be played out, I could do that.
And....I made one last tweak to ability scores...+1 to Wisdom, -2 to Constitution. You can see it reflected in the stats above.
Including the stats in the info bar or in your profile are both just fine, thanks to all.
Esmeralda wrote: I would like to purchase a potion of CLW before starting. I've got the funds, but if it would better to be played out, I could do that. Feel free to spend as much of the 150gp that every PFS character starts with before we start. Totally up to you.
While we're on the subject of gold / gear—just a reminder that in PFS, you can use anything you find throughout the scenario during the scenario, but after that you'll receive a chronicle sheet that lists the items found during the scenario. You can then purchase any of those items for future use.
I'm going to kick us off in the Gameplay thread here in a moment!

If I may ask, what is the name of the commanding officer?
Reuhne wrote: If I may ask, what is the name of the commanding officer? Up to you—it's not well fleshed out, and your commanding officer would be relatively low level anyway.

@Blothar --
Per James Jacobs, halflings generally call themselves halflings, and lack the kind of distinct internal cultural identity of elves or dwarves. "And yes, it is kind of sad."

Thanks for that. LAME!
I saw the 1977 animated Hobbit film when it released on CED in '82 (I was 7), and started playing D&D Christmas of '83 (with the '81 red Basic book and adventure B2), so Hobbits/halflings have always near and dear to my heart. Too often do they get the short end of the stick (pun intended)! At age 8, I had no idea how to say the word "alignment" but understood it meant good or evil (er, I mean lawful and chaotic).

Ha -- right there with you, if a few years younger: I think I first read The Hobbit about that same age, but Forgotten Realms Grey Box and AD&D 2nd ed rules were my first foray into D&D.

I stayed with BECMI D&D since I couldn't afford those beautiful and mysterious AD&D 1 hard cover books. When I was 16, my dad saw me reading some D&D books on a family vacation (I don't know how he never noticed them before), and asked if I'd run him through an adventure. He started buying almost everything and we made the switch to 2nd Edition. Both being Star Trek fans, we fully embraced Spelljammer, and are looking forward to Starfinder.

That's awesome. It seems that we are the same age, Blothar. My gaming started at summer camp when I was around 11. Red Box FTW! I think my first character was eaten by a purple worm. I was hooked.

Also, though I can write, I have absolutely no knowledge of pathfinder and its details. Do you guys have any sites or suggestions I could look at for a better idea?
Or rather, does pathfinder have its own novels and whatnot that involve Absalom in them?
Male Halfling Sorcerer 1 | HP -3/7 (unconscious)| AC 13, T 11, FF 11 | CM. -2, CMD 10 | F+2 R+3 W+3 /+2 fear | Init +2, Perc +2
I would start here: Wiki
There is also the Guide to Absalom book which is on sale for 5 bucks.
The deal with Pathfinder Society is that they send you all over the world (even outside the inner sea region sometimes) to explore, collect, report on the status of things ect.
I wouldn't worry too much about it for initial background. Just enough to give you a framework from which to build your character from. After all we are all 1st level...he can't have that much life experience. Honestly if you read the free welcome to pathfinder society PDF you should be fine.

For just a few bucks more ($10), you could get their awesome Inner Sea World Guide. I can't recommend this book highly enough. It's a great read.
But I'll also second the Wiki suggestion as well...
Really enjoying the stories so far, everyone!

There is a sizeable collection of "Pathfinder Tales", both novels and (free) short web fiction.
I'm not sure how many of them treat with Absalom per se, but as others have mentioned, I understand PFS jumps you around the world a bit. I've heard this mentioned as one of the benefits of PFS -- that they give you a good survey of the setting via play.

Hey, team: my neighborhood is without power thanks to a windstorm, and the utility is not even giving estimates yet of when it'll be back on. (Apparently they've got over half a million accounts out, their largest outage in history -- yay?)
So if I'm quiet the next few days, please forgive my absence.

Hello? Echo?
GM???? Can we get this thing going?

I don't mind how this goes. In all honesty, my character is rather confuddled by the fact of his glimpsing a woman's thigh. Bear in mind, he's lived a stricly militaristic life. One does not merely expose themselves in such an environment, haha.
Sorry guys, busy couple of days. Will move us forward shortly.

My apologies on the goof post I typed out. I wasn't paying attention to the fact you can't shoot in melee. Also, I didn't drop the bow and pull out the sword because I lack the +1 BAB required for it.
!HOWEVER!...
Thank you, Oh gracious and merciful DM.
Not a problem! Also for the record, dropping a weapon is a free action and drawing one is a move action. So you're move action was drawing the sword and your standard action was the attack. The +1 BAB allows you to draw a weapon as part of a move action.

Oh...damn...that I did not know. Thank you for the correction. See? Even wizards don't know everything. :D

An elven soldier, trained in arcane magics, is turning out to be a tree hugger. He's 100+ years old, and he's a treehugger. I did not anticipate this. haha

I love when our own characters reveal something of themselves we didn't knowingly give them! I thought nothing of Blothar and his relationship with women, besides growing-up with the example of parents deeply in love. Despite his high Wisdom and Sense Motive, he blinds himself to Esme's little games--he likes the attention.

I use to rp on a raven loft board, and setting is more story oriented than anything else I've been a part of. I know exactly what you're talking about.
Also, I'm going to forego my turn to let Blothar do his thing.

The funny thing, from my perspective, is that he's acting on Blothar's suggestion.
Also...
Never split the party!

Edit: Es, good job on the rp, by the way. It's not often someone is willing to play the dynamic of CN, let alone pull it off.
