Welcome! I am excited that you have chosen to go on this journey with me. I have developed a world for you to explore. This will be a low magic campaign in terms of not being able to purchase magic items readily at every shop in town. Most of your treasures will be found or fought for. To that end, I must request that you provide me with a spoilered wish list of magic items that you want for your PC so that I can incorporate some of them into the theme of the world.

Also, our goal is to post daily, but I have witnessed real life get in the way. Stay as current as possible. I have chosen all six because I believe them to be pretty well-balanced and attrition may kick in at some point. I will roll initiative for the PCs, but that is all unless I am asked to bot characters. You may roll anytime with a skill check. I may only ask for them sometimes.

How this campaign plays out depends mostly on your choices combined with random dice rolls. We will rule by RAW as much as possible as well as that will give us a level field of knowledge.

I don’t plan on using maps other than to communicate directions occasionally.

It seems like everyone has become attuned to their bleak existence. You exist in an unforgiving environment both physically and often socially.

I will post in gameplay in a bit. I prefer ooc questions to be asked on this thread as much as possible. Good luck to you all. May you truly earn the title “DuneRunner.”

It won’t be hard to link the characters as the yard was once a refuge for living creatures of all kinds.

Just posting here to check in. Currently on mobile, but, I should have magic items wish list and gameplay post posted tomorrow.

Checking in. Thanks for running such a unique campaign.

Aside from some protective items, and stat boosters I don't have much planned for magic items yet. How do you feel if Karsha takes Craft wand?

Also, it seems I misread the recruitment post, I hadn’t realized we could have hide shirt armor. Would it be alright for me to add that in to Jorricks inventory?

DM, Hollowe has swapped out Tengu's linguistics for carrion sense, is there something I could trade for the tengu swordsman schtick? A skill point perhaps? Might need a point in Disguise to dust up my beautiful feathers... If not, no worries, I can cope without it!

You would have to take this as a feat. The pre-req is caster level 5.

Yes. I’m treating Hide shirt as light armor, but with the same AC bonus.

You can use Carrion Sense.

Hey everyone, I find it really helpful if you put your basic vital stats right under your character name like Karsha did. You can spoiler it if you wish, but it keeps me from having to go back to the character sheet for every little thing. Thanks again for joining.

Hey! Glad to make it. I am looking forward to the game.

Magic Items:
Kentalla loves her ability with the bow and to be stealthy. Anything that would help her do those two things would be great!

Magic Items:
Mostly stat items / cloak of resistance, though I may eventually try for something along the lines of Celestial Chain. It would not be until much later in the game. Alternately, I may eventually try to forge something if we ever find any mithral.

Sorry, I'm asking if there is something else I could trade out for Swordtrained:

Tengu Racial Abilities wrote:
Swordtrained: Tengus are trained from birth in swordplay, and as a result are automatically proficient with sword-like weapons (including bastard swords, daggers, elven curve blades, falchions, greatswords, kukris, longswords, punching daggers, rapiers, scimitars, short swords, and two-bladed swords).

Yes. I’m treating Hide shirt as light armor, but with the same AC bonus.

Just an FYI, hide shirt is already a light armor in the standard rules.

Anyhow, items wish list, from my most wanted to the lowest priority.

Spoiler:

Wand of Cure Light Wounds
Pearls of Power
Headband of Wisdom
Cloak of Resistance
Lucky Horseshoe
Magic armor(really just medium armor with an enhancement bonus would be great, not looking for any fancy abilities here, though Spell Storing would be nice)
Ring of Protection
Amulet of Natural Armor
Handy Haversack
Ring of Feather Fall

Metamagic rods of quicken, daze, and empower(Obviously, this is a fairly high level thing, if we get there)

Scrolls of situational healing spells like Delay Poison, Remove Blindness/Deafness, Remove Fear, Remove Curse, Remove paralysis, and whatnot would be nice, once said spells actually become available.

@Kentalla, please relay to me via pm who you wish Haleen to be. Unless of course you want to tell the story. I have found a way to work Haleen into the story.

That's fine, I was thinking of taking it when/or if Karsha reaches that level. Seems to be lots of bone around for crafting wands. :)

I updated to hide armor instead of a hide shirt.

How far away is the scorpion from us?

100 feet. I need to remember to include distances when not using maps.

Don’t worry too much about miscommunications early on. I find that it takes awhile to gel as a group. Also, I have designed this campaign to be a true sandbox. Your decisions will often determine what happens next. Your character will be challenged, but I won’t try and intentionally destroy them.

I'm going to just leave Hollowe's action as heading to the waterhole, and will take Cythraul's original action of scooping up Weissbard's waterskin.

DM - I'd like to also swap out The Tengu Swordtrained, as it doesn't make sense in game (at least as far as I understand our "yard", and being a monk it likely won't help. Can you advise as to whether I can/what I could swap it for?

Ok. This is no problem.

There is a chance that this may serve you well down the road, but since you may have to wait, I will offer up proficiency in a different class of weapons if that will help. Ideas could include bola like weapons that trip, or any whip-like weapon. Any reasonable and thematically appropriate proficiency will be approved for swap out. Shoot me any suggestions.

Everyone, you may talk at anytime. I have rolled Initiative if we need to use it. I will roll another Perception check for the creature to notice you should you stick around or move suddenly. Right now, everyone is unnoticed and you have 100 feet and a boulder between you and the carnage.

Ok, thanks DM, I'll have a think about an alternate weapon proficiency.

So, just to clarify, has it been a full minute since we all started casting spells and such the first time around?

Jorrick wrote:

Yes, it would have taken you that long to carefully get to your location without being noticed.

The scorpion has a base speed of 50 feet. With double move actions, it will take him five rounds to get where you are assuming that you stay in that spot. If your party double moves during that time, he will reach you in 8 rounds altogether, of which, he would provoke, unless something else happens. Again, based upon your decisions.

Hey everyone. I wanted to check in and let you all know I might be hit or miss for the next 24-48 hours. My wife is having surgery, nothing major just an outpatient thing, and I might not be able to check it as frequently as I would like.

Everything went well, it was a “standard outpatient surgery” but with anything there is always a risk that can be stressful. Thank you!

Happy to hear. That stuff can be frightening.

All, options include:

1. Wait and do nothing.
2. Try the keypad
3. Leave the cavern and explore the desert night.
4. Force the door open

The cavern map link just links to a google search for "Cavern Map RPG." Was it supposed to be linking us to a specific map?

Jorrick wrote:

It wasn’t supposed to be viewed by anyone but the DM. I will do my best to describe each section to you in the best detail possible, and layout the options available.

Karsha, great guess on the sequence!

Thanks, I tried thinking it through logically.

Air condenses into water, which feeds plants, which feeds animals.

So Air - Water - Flora - Fauna.

So, this is the order.

Cythraul
Kentalla
Jorrick
Karsha
Tortok

Does this work for everyone?

Male Human(Dual Talent) Shaman(Speaker for the Past) 1 HP 11/11; AC 17; TAC 13; FF 14; Fort 3; Ref 3; Will 6; Init 3; Perception 8; CMB +2; CMD +13; SPD 30 ft

Works for me.

This means I am second in line? As a ranged character I am fine as long as im not first, but if there is a melee character that wants to be closer I can switch them spots.

Male Human Sorcerer (Dragon blooded) 1. Hp 8. AC 16, touch 12, flat-footed 14 (+2 Dex, ) . F +1. R +2 W +3. Init +2. Perception +5.

I'm still waiting on a couple of Acrobatic checks. I think that we need to try and post daily to keep momentum here. I just switched my router and I have had a few glitches that caused me delay. Let's shoot for daily posts though, understanding that the occasional RL situation will obstruct this.
