I really would like to cont8nue this if we don't get any word soon would anyone have objections to my taking it over but also playing my wizard?
Athola
I would not have any issues.
How many players actually know the modules that they are role playing characters in. It is the ability to separate player knowledge from character knowledge that counts.
Though we do need a melee front liner tank.

Sure, shoot Spaz a PM to discuss with him :-)

This is the message I sent:
Hi Spaz,
Thanks for offering to take the game. I know it is a lot to take in since we have been playing for almost 3 years. I was wondering if you are any closer to making a decision as to whether or not you will take the game. If you are not able or willing to do so I am happy to take the game over but wanted to talk to you about it first.

Hey there,
Sorry for the delay in an update, got a bit busy there.
As promised, a bit of a primer on what to expect from me and what I expect from you guys.
1.
I'll do my best to get at least a post in each day. I know you guys, from this game's gameplay , won't have a problem there :)
2.
The Gameplay thread is for gameplay posts only. It was a slog getting through the gameplay as there was sooooo many occ posts clogging it up. I'm positive that 25% of the 7000 posts were occ.
One page I saw was over 50% occ posts.
If you want to discuss strategy....use the discussion thread. Debating treasure splitting...use the discussion thread. Sharing cookie recipes....use...the...discussion...thread!
This isn't up for debate, it's a must if I'm going to take on the game.
The caveat to this is I have no issue with a regular gameplay post, with an occ post that explains what you're doing if you think the regular post isn't clear. Also, see the next item on combat posts
3.
I'll start combat by posting Initiative for everyone. Saves time. Named monsters will get an individual roll, and groups of monsters , one roll per group.
I'd appreciate, as this is getting to higher levels, if you'd all post an occ comment or two listing your current effects, spells, conditions etc. I'll be tracking it as well, but this will be an extra check.
Another thing I'd like to see, is an occ post accounting for your actions, Swift, Standard and Move. That way you're thinking about your action economy, so I don't have to :)
4.
I'll be using spoiler'd knowledge checks, don't peek! Those that roll high enough to read the spoilers are then responsible to disseminate the information in character.
5.
The previous DM liked to explain some of the encounters, how he upped the difficulty or made changes. I won't be. Spoils the mystery. If you have questions about an encounter, I'll entertain them after the fact. Or not :)
6.
If you have a rules question/objection, use the Discussion Thread. Please don't get rules lawyer-y. I'm sure some or all of you have better mastery of the rule than I. I do lean towards RAW, but I'll consider the merits of any observations and make a ruling. Please accept it and move on.
7.
On the subject of rules, I won't be continuing the use of the previous DM's house rules. I'll just forget about them, not worth the trouble. We'll keep the Hero Points.
8.
I'll do my best to post informative, descriptive, hopefully entertaining posts in response to your own and to set the scene. I won't be posting from my phone, but early in the morning and evenings (EST) when I have my home computer available.
I think that's it.
I don't think any of this is too onerous, some of it is from my own experience in what made some successful campaigns work, some just my personal preference and/or to make my job easier.
Still working through material and getting set up, so still no set date to start. Patience grasshopper.
Let me know what you think.

How much character development outside if what is in the modules will be allowed to take place?
Spazmodeus
I'm open to the precedent of character development already experienced in the campaign, so Terevalis' relationship with the Towers of Sorcery can continue to evolve. Same for the others as occasion permits.
This of course with the caveat of reasonableness within the plot of the campaign.
Forgot item 9 from my previous list:
When the party splits for whatever reason, the posts will be spoiler'd appropriately. That way , if everyone only looks at their spoiler, the mystery of what the others are up to is maintained. No stopping people from reading the other spoiler, I just find it spoils ( pun intended ) the fun.
Any comments on my primer, Ter?

High God has reworked some of the PRC's so that advancement in them also advanced wizard school abilities and spell casting. Will this still hold?
Terevalis Unctio of House Mysti
Looks good to me. My question: Am I still going to get a Dragon? :)
No, no dragon for you!

Also, for example, he got rid of the WoHS PRC but stated that if I wanted to take some of the secrets of my order it would cost a feat. Will that still hold or would you allow the WoHS PRC?
Spazmodeus
@Gabriel: Well, this begin dragonlance, you might get to fight with a dragon again...
@Terevalis: Advancement will still hold as it. And we'll keep the secret per feat rule as well.
So, i've got an ok from Gabriel and Alathea. Athola's on vacation , so I'll wait for her, and Jereru hasn't posted here yet. I'll give him another poke to post here.
Terevalis, are you OK with the rules etc I laid out?
Gabriel, The Just
So I proposed this 2 years ago to take as a bonded mount. The GM decided at the time that a dragon would be joining the team at some time, and I would be able to befriend and probably ride it. i would be fine calling forth this as a mount if you are ok with it and forgo having a real dragon. Though again being dragon lance there may be a time I mount and ride a true dragon in for story and awesomeness reasons. Let me know what you think.
GM question and favor, since we are in Dragonlance and its kind of Iconic with High Pries Verminard and others. I did this wright up for another game and the GM liked it so I though I would run it by you and see if you would be open to it. So it wouldn't be viable as a mount untill level 7, so I would take it at 5 and not ride it or just replace it at 7. A small side quest could be done if needed but I don't want to derail the game, but I would love to ride a dragon so here it is. I just looked at the Dragonkin and them made it into a template using the ROC as an example of how they scaled it down. Please let me know what you think.
Dragonkin Gold
Starting Statistics: Size Medium; AC +3 natural armor; Speed 40 ft., fly 100 ft.; Attack 2 talons (1d4), bite (1d6); Ability Scores Str 12, Dex 18, Con 12, Int 10, Wis 12, Cha 16; Special Qualities Darkvision, Low light vision, Scent. Immune to Fire, Paralysis, and sleep Dragon Traits. Breath Weapon 3d6 Fire DC 10+ 1/2 HD+ Con
7th-Level Advancement: Size Large; AC +3 natural armor; Attack 2 talons (1d6 plus grab), bite (1d8); Ability Scores Str +8, Dex –2, Con +6. Breath Weapon 6d6 Fire DC 10+ 1/2 HD+ Con.
Rider Bond
A dragonkin can form a permanent bond with its rider. Once this bond is made, a dragonkin cannot form another rider bond until its current rider dies. A dragonkin and its rider can communicate with each other as if they both had telepathy 100 ft. In combat, when a rider is mounted on his dragonkin, both creatures roll initiative separately and treat the highest result as their single result.

I still think we should have at ETA of when this is going to start. That is only fair to all involved.

To be honest, this sort of entitlement really pisses me off.
I think I covered this subject with the sentence:
Still working through material and getting set up, so still no set date to start. Patience grasshopper.
What's "fair" is to give the guy volunteering to take on such a big task the time to prepare. Running a game is big enough, coming in in the middle I think is bigger.
I'm not going to start prematurely to satisfy your impatience, Jason.
I'll be ready when I'm ready.
@Gabriel....I think the dragonkin will work fine. I'll just have to figure out where and when.
Storyteller Shadow
That guy actually had like 2 months to get a start date together.
I believe it was exactly a month ago he agreed to run the game.
Regardless, as he was the only taker in a two month search I'd say we're done. Well, we got close to finishing.
Happy Gaming all, see you on the boards elsewhere.
