Searching Zarta’s sitting room reveals a crumpled and roughly folded canvass with a full-length artistic rendition of Zarta in scanty red apparel, along with several other pieces of art apparently considered too lascivious to remain.
In the corner Hadassah finds that the bucket is full a mixture of what smells like turpentine and varnish.
Boom is able to lock the door from the inside.
The (other) door isn't locked.
The room nor anything in the room radiates evil.

Opening the door slowly you see an extravagant bedchamber that is dominated by a massive four-poster bed that takes up half the room. Red-varnished wardrobes and vanities complement the black silk sheets on the bed, which appears to be in the process of being dismantled. The walls of the room have been stripped of the portraits that once hung there, faint outlines of the art pieces being all that remain. The exception to this is the eastern wall, which is occupied by an elaborate woodcutting depicting but a single nymph in a seductive pose, garbed in nothing but a necklace bearing an amulet shaped like the Asmodean star.

Nodding, Hadassah casts detect magic and inspects the wall and painting carefully searching for anything vaguely resembling a keyhole or trap. She casts read magic as well should the necessity arise.

Detect Evil
Ianto takes great pains to inspect any papers rejected by the others looking for anything that might resemble a list. Aid another Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13 Concerned about the amount of time they are taking to search, he draws his sap and uses a wooden stake in the other hand to search with.

Looking carefully, you do realize that the necklace on the painting is indeed a key hole... which clearly matches the key on the ring that Boom Boom holds!
There is a faint glow of magic near the painting but Zondras can't determine much about it. There is nothing evil in the room. There are no papers or anything of note either.
Hadassah Lokrien Savet

While checking over the room, and letting the others work on their respective tasks, Hadassah will attempt to retrieve her holly and mistletoe, spell component pouch, shield, and wand (snowball) from her pouch, and readies them appropriately. Meanwhile, she casts Detect Magic again, and double checks the bucket and the rest of the room, scanning for any trace magics, and to keep an ear open to any possible intruders lingering or approaching while her companions do their things.

No map (sorry PC is sick, no maps for the time being); however, it is a smallish room with lots of people in it. Assume you are all in base to base with a devil, and have flanking if you want.
These do radiate evil.

Hadassah takes a five foot step away from the devil that struck her, if possible, and casts Produce Flame.
Should stepping away prove impossible, Hadassah will use a move action to get away, then cast Produce Flame, doing her best to avoid any extraneous attacks of opportunity.
Yoren Issarion
|
"Hey that's good thinking Boom... whoa, what the heck are these things? Not goblins anyway. That's good i guess. Had my fill of them.
Yoren pulls out his sword and takes a swing, taking a 5 foot step if needed to make himself as prominent a target as possible to the flying creatures.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
But as so often is the case his attempt at heroics come to nothing, surprise and cramped conditions lead to a pitiful swing.
"I miss the goblins."
Telurion Andoren

"Is this some sort of magical trap or whatnot?" - Telurion questions his companions as he swings at one of the creatures - "And what the HECK are these?!"

Ianto's arrow sails through the air again, finding nothing but the walls. Boom's Javelin nicks a devil but the beast doesn't miss a beat (literally) until Telurion whacks it good his sword causing a nasty gash in the creatures wing. Suddenly, the wing slowly starts to heal over!
Hadassah notices that her flame doesn't seem to concern these creatures in the slightest.
Ianto- take Dex Damage: 1d2 ⇒ 1, you need to save again this round and every round until you make the save- DC13 Fort.
The flying monster turn its attention to the Telurion and attack
Attack Telurion: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 8 - 2 = 11
But their barbed tail failing to get past his armor.
The other devil just floats in the air, its wings beating just hard enough to keep him in flight.

Ianto, the poison still flows- Dex Dam: 1d2 ⇒ 2
Ianto and Boom focus on one of the little devils- in synchronous action both a javelin and an arrow pierce its chest. The thing starts to fall... and then suddenly is sucked into the wooden key hole like water down a drain.

Yoren's attempt fails to hit home. The devil mindlessly strikes back at the party.

The flying beast moves towards Boom Boom and tries to strike the alchemist with its tail.
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27 damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3 you need a DC13 Fort save verse poison
PC's Turn- Ianto (and Boom if you failed the poison save) need to make further Fort saves.
Telurion Andoren

Boom you take Dex Damage: 2d2 ⇒ (2, 1) = 3, you'll need to keep making saves until you pass once (DC11) or make five more saves! Ianto, you saved. It is over.
Telurion gashes the devil across its chest, scales flying everywhere. A moment later, an arrow pierces the devil's head. As it dies, it also gets sucked back into the wood.
We are out of combat.
I might not have been clear earlier- but there is a door to the north of this room. It is closed, not locked. Of course there is the secret door you just opened (and found the devil's inside). Your choice which one to go to.
Hadassah Lokrien Savet
|
Hadassah casts 'Detect Magic and carefully surveys the room.
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12
Once done, she uses her spirit sense to try to locate any other potential threats.
At 1st level, a menhir savant can detect the presence of undead; fey; outsiders; and astral, ethereal, or incorporeal creatures. This ability functions like detect undead, and the druid detects all of these creatures rather than trying to detect one kind.
This ability replaces nature sense and wild empathy.
DrGabe
|
Searching around the current room, you don't find anything else. Hadassah doesn't see any other magical items, nor does her Spirit Sense detect anything.
Poison saves for Boom- Fort Save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12 You took a total of 3 Dex damage, see post above before clearing the poison
Boom takes a peak inside of the hidden room. This room seems to be in pristine condition, with little evidence of renovations. The chamber is full of a variety of equipment suggestive of a dungeon or torture chamber. The walls appear to be thickly padded and sustain hooks holding a number of whips, bludgeons, and other instruments of pain. Spaced between large mirrors are several extremely obscene paintings (a rather blasphemous portrait of Sarenrae in a compromising position with two succubi amongst other things).
Telurion Andoren
|
Uncerimoniously, Telurion stares for long moments at the depiction of Sarenrae - Dang!
With a swift motion, he simply rips it from its holding frame and promptly tears it to pieces - "That's that - these boys and girls REALLY should find other ways to entertain themselves"
Looking around the room he adds - "In fact, I would torch this whole room and its implements... But we have got more pressing matters. Shall we get going?"
