Yoren recoils in disgust as the pit monster strikes him.
Fort Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Something about the creature's touch seems extra disturbing, Yoren thinks he may not feel so well.
As if to compound his troubles the goblin's flask splashes flaming oil onto his armor. Yoren tries to ignore the pain and lashes out at the creature in the pit again.
Greatsword: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
But he is unable to muster the energy for a decisive blow.
Drat, I felt I was likely to fail the save vs. the fire, so I gambled on maybe being able to take out the pit monster.

Mifune gets to his feet, ready for anything that might happen in the hallway.
Zondras leaps across the gap, and just barely is able to get his balance to land on the other side. Arms flailing, he gains his footling just like a three-leged cat! Around the corner he can just barely make out the fleeing outline of a goblin.
Yoren swings with all of his might, but can't stop the mushroom carpet! The fire puts itself out, but not before scorching his skin more.
Fire Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5
The pit monster strikes again at the strong fighter.

"Ugh, things could be going better. I don't suppose you've got a shot at killing that goblin before the set up another ambush for us so you may as well come help kill this thing."
Yoren takes in his fallen comrade, scorched armor, the stench of sickness from the pit monster and muses. "This may not have been our finest hour."
Yoren Issarion
|
"Yargh!"
Yoren shakes off his momentary hesitation and swings again at the pit monster.
Greatsword: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Drawing deeply from his inner reserves he summons the strength to land another blow.
Damage: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (3, 1) + 4 = 8
But not so powerful a one as he might have hoped.
Mifune the Ronin
|
Mifune grimaced as he looked down the pit and then across where the shadow of the fleeing goblin was progressively getting smaller. Making a split decision, the samurai leapt down into the pit to help his comrades, slamming the sheathed blade against the pit monster.

"That's the way Mifune!" Yoren cheers in appreciation of Mifune's heroic blow.
"Zondras! I've got a rope but we'll need your help to get out of here. Telurion is not dead, but it's a close thing."
"My friends, the goblins seem to have taught us a bit of a lesson here. So what have we learned?"
DrGabe
|
Since Zondras hasn't posted in a bit, I'll take over for him until his return.
After tying off the rope and letting Mifune help him down, Zondras is able to get to Telurion and use his wand of healing.
Telurion feel free to recover HP's. You get to roll the dice, just tell me how many charges you use.
Mifune the Ronin
|
I took 7 damage and managed to slay the big mushroom monster :D
The tumble and the subsequent tussle with the mold mushroom monster carpet thing left Mifune slightly worse for wear as he looked to the others with a strained smile.
"Are we in a singular piece?
DrGabe
|
Mifune, you can use the wand as well!
You are able to climb out of the pit without any further misadventure. There is a lever near where the goblins were standing that resets the trap. The goblin that got away, disappeared down a turn in the hallway. Another goblin is dead and lies on the floor in a heap.

Since Zondras hasn't posted in a bit, I'll take over for him until his return.
Guess you missed my question from yesterday? ;-P
Posting for me was good though since that is what I would have done.
Yoren Issarion

Yoren glumly surveys his scorched armor and absently rubs the spot where the beast touched him.
"That's a useful trinket Zondras. I don't mind admitting I'm a little battered myself."
Yoren has taken 9 damage, leaving him with 7.
"Best see if the dead one here has anything of use." Yoren quickly checks through the expired goblin's belongings.
"Do we proceed with caution, or with haste? Our hosts will be making preparations for our arrival. Is our little friend Eekie still here? Perhaps she has thoughts on what may be waiting for us?"
Jezebel Savet
|
Jezebel smiles and dusts herself off. "Killer salad fixings, learn something new every day!"
Making her way over the the rope, she quickly tries to scamper out of the pit. Climb: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0, Acrobatics if needed: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18 and promptly stands up to dust herself off again, before she tries again, this time using patience. take 10

Gulp... I thought that someone bought one in between missions! Of course that could have been another group that I am running. At worst, you likely would have used a heal spell on Telurion to become conscious. From there I'll let you take back over.
The goblin has (1)Alchemist Fire, (2)Caltrop, (1) Potion of Cure Light Wounds (CL3rd); Leather Armor (small), Dog Slicer, Bow w/ 18 arrows.

Wait...so do we or don't we have a wand?? o.O
If not...dibs on that potion lol I'm down 13 hp (7/20 left)
Jezebel Savet

Jezebel picks up the two sets of caltrops, "I have the far fetched idea that maybe, just maybe, we should head up and set up an ambush location for all of us but two, and send two into town with a list of gear to procure, specifically a Wand of Cure Light Wounds. I will write a note so you can use my amazingly prestigious name to get one free....."
Jezebel Savet
|
Jezebel sprints from the sewer, and bangs loudly on the door to the local wand shop. "I am Jezebel Savet of House Savet, a Pathfinder, perhaps you have heard of me? I need a wand!"
After procuring the wand, Jezebel sprints back down to the slaughterhouse basement, and to the group. "I can't use it, but I will loan it to you, Nius, so you can use your magic with it."
Yoren Issarion
|
Yoren cheers at the obviously out of breath halfling.
"Nice work miss! I imagine there will be more flaming bottles to come."
"As we move forward, shall we try to scout ahead or just put the biggest slab of meat we have up front to absorb whatever they fling at us as we charge in? Telurion did the job admirably last time, I'd be happy to soak up a few slings and arrows this time around. Just give me a taste of that wand and I'll be up for all sorts of goblin mischief."
Presuming we can count on Nius to activate the wand for now.
Wand: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Mifune the Ronin

"This one praises your quick thinking." Giving a bow to Jezebel, Mifune looked quite a bit brighter now as he slid the Potion of Cure Light Wounds into his pouch.
"While the plan is admirable, this one worries as to what may lie in store now that one of the green-skins managed to get away..."

With Eekie helping Jezebel through the sewers to the city and then back to the Nightsoil Guild's hangout, the trip only takes a couple of hours. During that time, the party doesn't run into any other goblins. Intelligence Check, DC 12
Its possible there are many other entrances and exits in this maze. One possibility is the goblin actually just ran out of the guild and not to warn others. Of course, the opposite could be true as well.
Heading down the hallway (walking south) you find a room to the west that is an abandoned training center. Target dummies and discarded gear lie haphazardly on the floor. Directly across to the east, is a small sleeping chamber with a door that leads out into the sewers. There are perhaps four or five messy beds present. After searching the room, you don't find anything of value.
Continuing down the hallway to the south, you see another room to the west. From here, you can just make out some sounds coming from this room. Goblins are talking softly and there is the clink of glass and metal.
Perception to listen. Opposed Stealth if you want to sneak inside to see what is going on.

Int Check: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Laid before the samurai was one path: well-lit, well-traveled, and full of sewage. Obviously that was the only path...right?
Per Check: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Stopping as the others, Mifune's ears perked up as he listened to teh tell tale sounds of conversation.
Zondras Ivik

INT Check: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Hmmm.. lots of tunnels here....that gob might have just as easily ran away rather than warn anyone. Only one way to find out.
Reaching the end of the hallway Zondras sees Jezebel blend into the shadows as she walks towards the room.
Cocking his head to listen he tries to make out what noises are coming from the room.
Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
Hmmmm... hard to hear. Perhaps I should ready my shield spell?
DrGabe
|
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Jezebel is able to sneak to the entrance of this large room. Its about 40x40' in dimension. As she peaks into the room, she sees the following: The ceiling of this room has partially collapsed, creating a two- story space to the west while exposing the chamber above to the east. Rubble lies haphazardly about the place, with some other larger pieces serving as tabletops for crude alchemical apparatuses. Soot, scorch marks, and other chemical residues cover many of the chamber’s walls and other surfaces. A sizable slab of jagged debris leans against the broken edge of the upper level’s floor in the room’s center. The upper level seems clear of wreckage and contains several wooden worktables. Opposite the entrance, a set of stone steps that once rose to the upper level are broken away halfway up their length. The whole chamber smells of burnt oil and acrid chemicals.
There is one goblin who is acting as the boss and is ordering around the other three goblins. They appear to making something, but Jezebel can't be certain what it is.
Jezebel Savet
|
Jezebel reports back, including the presence of crude alchemical apparatuses, and the number of goblins.
"I suggest a surprise assault. I think the throwing of the vial into the mix to see what will burn would be most exciting. As I recall from our northland adventure, goblins love fire, so perhaps Eakie would like to have the honors.
"I think perhaps those of us who are sneaky could slip closer, and you strong types could form up in assault position. When we shoot and throw, you charge whoever you see. Hopefully it will catch them off guard and unawares."
DrGabe
|
here is what you can do: you each can take one full round of actions, but you first must make a stealth check DC 16 (the goblins perception roll). Once this roll is failed, the "surprise" round is over and regular initiative will start.
There are two goblins (one "boss", one regular) on the ledge to the north, there are two more (both regular) on the ledge to the south.
Make note, you can reach these ledges by making a DC20 Climb check by jumping to the top of the broken stairs. Alternatively, you can climb up the ledge by making a DC12 Acrobatics check AND DC15 Climb check. Either of these are full round actions and you move to the top of the ledge.

Seeing as the rest of the group is not much with the stealth, the gunslinger loads her pistol, and approaches with the group, focusing her attention on the leader. "Without a healer, I think I am safer in the rear with the gear! Besides, I remember goblins and my attempts at stealth when we were escorting those Frostfur captives. . . " When in range, Jezebel aims for the goblin in the fanciest hat, a sure sign of leadership.

Telurion Andoren

Telurion attempts the silent approach to try and get to the northern ledge before they realize what hit them.
Stealth: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (20) - 3 = 17
WOHOOOOO!!
DC20 climb is an impossibility for him so...
[dice=Javelin throw to the "boss"]1d20+3[/dice] They are flat footed?
Damage if it hits: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Mifune the Ronin

"Likewise...our collective attempts at furtive actions seem rather...well, bad."
Agreeing with Jezebel, Mifune stood at the ready as the others made their first strikes.
Holding for now. My stealth is non-existent lol
