Just waiting for everyone to check in before we get started. So you guys know all your gear except for you basic clothes will have been taken from you when you were captured. You will possibly get the chance to get it back depending on how things go.

Kunala at some point I am hoping you incorporate the phrase "It's high noon". Just kidding of course.

Question -- I have some money in a hidden compartment in my peg leg. Would it be safe from their searching hands?

Hidden compartments for peg legs are listed in the equipment description, but it does not give a Perception DC like other hidden compartments.

on a related note I have Kunala's languages as "common" "Vishkanya" and "Elvish" I believe that in "the Shackles" that common is "Taldane" with your permission I will make his third language "Vudrani" instead of "elvish" since that would fit his flavor better.

hey Dr Genade, I noticed you are an alchemical genius, once we get settled into the game we will need to collaborate a little. Kunala will take alchemy the second level and he has poisonous spit we should be able to do some interesting thins with.

Captain...well hopefully captain one day Jerieth reporting in. ;P I'm at work so it might be later on today for me to post in the gameplay thread if we start today.

And hello everyone! Thank you GM for choosing me and I look forward to adventuring with y'all! Also and I don't know why but I'm imagining Jerieth speaking like a Southern belle.

Interesting! Very interesting! When Diamondust posted who was In the game I read everyone's background, Kunala also desires to captain his owns ship, but he has served under a woman before. Don't get the wrong idea, it was his mother....

For a quick intro. Kunala will start as a ranged character, and will soon take "dervish dancer" to use the Tulwar (scimitar) so that he can go both ways. No not like that Jerieth... like I said, I read your backstory. He will also be good at talking, and possibly sneaking cause of the light armor and high dex. but in knowledge he only has geography with a profession of sailor, may take engineering next round, depending on what he can work out with the good doctor on alchemy. Speaking of the good doctor I'm glad to see he has disable device, I'm not sure if I am going to take a dip in rogue or not.

Looks like a well rounded team, only gap seems to be in knowledge in dungeoneering but we do have a bard. Oh, and possibly in survival; hopefully were not going to have to track anyone because, ya know, were pirates!

Hmmm lots of claims for who holds the tiller. Way I see it there are two types of free ships. Those run by tyrants and those run by democracy who elevate by basis of merit one to be the leader in war or have the final say. None of us seems the type to long tolerate a tyrant. I think it stands that the most able sailor and leader will rise to the top in time.

That's true Reinald. We are all mainly Chaotic Neutral or Chaotic Good, or just Neutral.

Also, I will let all of you know that due to forgetting to keep track of my data (that's what I get for doing job applications on my iPhone), until October 7, my posting might be a bit slow. It's nothing major, but I just don't want to go over the plan's data limit. I apologize for telling y'all this right off the bat, but after October 7, I should be able to post normally.

Also, Jerieth isn't too fond of slavery and if we do ever get our own ship, she would like to waylay slavers and free the slaves. When I played her in a prior Skulls and Shackles game that died before we even got halfway through Book 1, she wore a sash around her waist that showed that she had done some work as an Andoren privateer (much like her father).

Also, I think a good idea for captain would be for us to take turns being captain. It will allow us to avoid that funny scene from Pirates of the Caribbean. :P


I'm ok with "taking turns" what ever you guys want to do. Also ok with hating slavers, more for practical reasons, if people are willing to make other people slaves what keeps them from trying to make one of you.

But seriously, I'm all for having a captain, who can be vetoed by a majority vote of the officer's council.

Sejanus doesn't even want to be captain, he's just a bit prickly. Besides, him and Dr. Genade are going to be too busy decking out the ship to worry about being in charge.

So yes add 2 to your level when looking at the Automatic Bonus Progression chart to determine which bonuses you get. It is +2 because there won't be the usual magical loot troves of some other games. Magical loot is going to be rare, special and in some cases custom.

Guns won't be common so if you get cannons or equip your crew with guns they will be the odd man out compared to 'most' other free pirate captains.

Once you run your own ship you may govern it any which way you wish (without killing each other over it). The multiple ships idea is interesting and very doable just remember you'll need sufficient crews to operate them all AND money to pay your crews.

Ok so I will be starting gameplay very soon. Any last questions?

I like the special and custom categories of the treasure, but the rare part is what worries me, but I think we should do fine.

We'll see how things go but with ABP you already have 1000gp worth of bonuses at level 1 so you shouldn't worry about not having enough resources.

That's good I guess. BTW, how do you plan on doing romances between PCs and NPCs? Just wondering as my character tried to (and failed quite miserably I'm afraid :( ) romance one of the female crew members. Didn't go so well, I'm afraid, so I was wondering how you plan to do romances.

Not to be too forward, but there were many people who applied to this game. People who would not hold up the game for four days by not making their first post in gameplay after just getting recruited.

Sweet. BTW, I'm making Jerieth's mother be a half-aquatic elf. According to the sourcebook Blood of the Elements, undines and other geniekin can have parents other than humans or other geniekin. So, I guess it makes sense. Plus, according to what I read in both Blood of Angels and Blood of Fiends sourcebooks, while most planar-descended races come from human families, and although rare, planar-descended races can come from beings like catfolk, orcs, dwarves, halflings, etc. GM, I hope this is alright. Jerieth is still an undine, just a half-aquatic elf undine if you will. ;P

I explained the situation in the first post about being unarmed and unarmoured. Hope that clears up the armour questions. You barely have anything but clothes and the odd thing the pirates missed if they did miss something which I wrote in your personal spoilers in the first post aswell.
