Sorry I haven't posted in a while. I came down with some kind of throat infection on Friday. I spent 70% of the last week asleep, and the rest in a fever haze. I'm feeling a lot better now, though, and I hope to be posting a lot more consistently from now on.

I'm here as well. Been a busy few weeks for me as well but I'm still here. And yes Jerieth will toss her hat into the ring for the role as captain. Although she'll go around and call herself co-captain if she loses. ;P
I did think of a good name for our ship: Rising Gale.
I got the name from an old painting (that's the title of the painting), and I thought it would make a great name for a pirate ship. What do the rest of y'all think?

There are generally roles for ships officers.
1st Mate-
Master of Sail-
Gunner
Ship's Dr
Quarter Master
There are others. Depending on what sort of roles you want or where you can have as a sphere of influence on the ship.

I would see Morgan in either the Master of sail role (I think I have the highest prof Sailor with a Reroll and a good knowledge geog score) but I am unsure with it's position of senior warrant officer as my charisma is low and he isn't much of a leader. Alternatively possibly Gunner with Morgan's ranged skills, but I assume we would need an exotic weapon proficiency which I don't have.

Ok everyone. It's been a bad few weeks for me healthwise but I'm here again.
Now what I was going to do was just let you guys decide the 'jobs' that you wanted, vote on who is the new captain and then you can decide the position that you want the NPC's in. They are your allies and I was going to have them support your decision on captain (at least the friendly ones will, what the others do you will find out when you wake them).
Let me read the gameplay posts you have made and I'll post here again.

Hmm, that's interesting about the difference in importance of the Quartermaster role between the Navy and a pirate vessel.
In the navy, the quartermaster just distributes supplies issued by the government. On a pirate ship, they control division of the loot. It's really the same function, but in the case of the pirate ship, the loot itself is the whole purpose of the ship. I can see how a pirate Quartermaster would be much more powerful and respected than a navy one.

Yes Grok was Quartermaster before. Plugg was the first mate/boatswain, Scourge the Master-at-arms. I envision you all being pretty much equals in this game and I don't think Reinald will go all "I'm the captain!" on you. Also the last sailing master plugg used is the captive from this very ship, Jiran Conway (currently unconscious). You might ask/push him into the job.

So would it make more sense for us to go with 1st Mate or Boatswain for Jeireth rather than Quartermaster?
I know when I researched this I found lots of similar but conflicting info.

You can use it without proficiency of course but with the usual penalties.
Each type of siege weapon requires a different exotic weapon proficiency feat. Though if wanting proficiency in more than one you may as well get the Siege Engineer feat.

So you need to finalise: Quartermaster, Sailing Master, Master Gunner, Boatswain. Perhaps you want to give the last officer spot to one of your allies, of which Sandara was the most helpful from the start in helping you.
I will put the rest of the crew half as riggers and half as swabs. The only other question is what do you want to do with owlbear?

Its totally up to you guys but I think if we continue with Quartermaster like Grok who keeps track of goods then. Jerieth's climb and sail skill are a solid fit.

The Boatswain (often shortened to Bosun) is the one in charge of organizing and disciplining the basic crew, and one who would lead a team on a small boat launch, if I recall correctly. How about Sandara for Boatswain?

I like the idea of Sandara for Boatswain. As for me, I think my character would work as First Mate, given her diplomatic skills and abilities. It would help keep order as well as lift the crew's spirits. Especially since I'm trying to make Jerieth be the diplomat, backup healer, and backup arcane caster.
And what do y'all think of naming the ship Defiant Gale? Tried to come up with a name that was a compromise of mine and Sejanus's ideas.

That leaves 9 crew for swabbing and rigging if you put Owlbear to work. You're two under minimum of 20 to sail without penalty but you can still move.
