Brock AKA "Bones" |
1. Since the quasit does not have reach, he draws an AoO from me coming to swipe at me with his claw, since he is visible.
2. He moved more than 5' and attacked so he then can't turn invisible, which is a standard action, all in the same round. Even at will spell-like abilities take a standard action to activate unless the creature description says otherwise.
3. So to sum up: To attack me in melee, he has to draw an AoO and then stay within my reach visible till my turn!
4. I recommend the little fella stay away from big ol' Brock or he's gong to get hurt!
Fort save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22

Fort save: 1d20+5
Brock's AoO 1d20 + 6 - 1 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 6 - 1 + 1 = 22
Brock's Damage 2d4 + 6 ⇒ (1, 4) + 6 = 11
The demon is not afraid of the half-orc and despite geting poked by the ranseur keeps coming with it's assault. She hovers in his face taunting the warrior, "We thinks your mother must have been a goblin."
Mythril DM |
Eponine will grind her teeth and strike back at where she thinks the monstrosity attacking her is at.
To hit 1d20+5
Damage 1d6
Miss chance 1d100
You don't get to add you DEX bonus due to Weapon Finesse in the darkness so you Hit AC 18 not 22. I will follow the pattern you set on your first miss chance roll that 1-50 will be a hit. You also currently are getting flanking bonus from Wren so that means you hit AC 20.
Eponine knows the creature is in front of her and gives a gentle jab with her blade pricking it on the body somewhere.
Victor is up...
Wren Chavali |
Wren swings her dagger at the monster that is apparently caught between herself and Epi, before again trying to head toward the light of Sophy's crossbow.
Attack 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Damage 1d4 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2
Miss chance 1d100 ⇒ 59
Low is hit, high is miss...

You fail to stab the demon as you move away from the spawn creature. The poison continues to burn in your body sapping your energy.
Lose another 1d2 ⇒ 2 DEX and make another FOR Save.
On the catwalk bridge, Eponine tries to evade them but can only avoid one of the creatures nasty claws. The creature in front of victor unleashes a viscous attack with its claws. The warrior tries to evade but seems to duck into each blow. Total of 10 pts Dmg. The demon screeches and the flapping of its batlike wings can be heard.
She rakes at your face with both her tiny claws but only one breaks the skin. Again the damage is light but you can feel the heat of the poison.
2 Claws 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24
Damage 1d3 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1
2 Claws attack Eponine 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
Damage 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
2 Claws attack Victor 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Damage 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 and 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Crit Check 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
Extra Damage 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Eponine is up...
Mythril DM |
Trying to figure this out. Would I be correct in saying that Eponine and Victor are supposed to be switched? You just have our names typed in the wrong slot?
No it is correct, there are creatures facing both Eponine and Victor. The one infront of Epy hit with one claw for 4 pts of damage. Saddly, the one in front of Victor tore him up with two hits and a critical. That puts you at 0 hp and makes you Disabled
Sophy Cassell |
2 Claws attack Eponine 1d20+2 1d20+2
Damage 1d4+1
2 Claws attack Victor 1d20+2 1d20+2
Damage 1d4+1 and 1d4+1
Crit Check 1d20+2
Extra Damage 1d4+1
You've got a 15 and a 22 vs. Eponine in the first line, and a 19 and a 4 vs. Victor in the 3rd. I think that's what Victor meant: looks like you have their names reversed.
Victor Montoya |
Victor screams through his teeth in pain as he gets ripped to shreads. He then takes another step to his left, hoping to avoid another one of those creatures. Be careful of your thoughts, Victor. They always come back to bite you.
5' step to left
AC 11; Hp's 0
Wren is up
Wren Chavali |
Wren's rage had began to bubble back to the surface at this whole situation. We should have ran when we had the chance! She kept swinging at the monster while it was apparently pinned between she and Epi.
Attack 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
Damage 1d4 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2
Miss chance 1d100 ⇒ 15
Low is hit, high is miss...
AC 12, HP 15/16
Sophy Cassell |
Move to F 22 while drawing her weapon; Move action: load crossbow. That will move the light farther into the room and hopefully help visibility for Eponine and Wren, at least.
AC 15; HP 19/19; light on crossbow
Go, Brock.
Brock AKA "Bones" |
Brock curses himself that he concentrated his last attack on the flying queen and left the blind Victor to fend for himself against the spawn. "Screw this fighting like a coward, your spawn dies now!" He takes a 5' step and thrusts the shortspear into the spawn's ribs with all his might. He then takes a menacing look at the imp-like creature.
Power attack:1d20 + 6 + 1 - 1 - 2 ⇒ (17) + 6 + 1 - 1 - 2 = 21
Damage: 1d6 + 4 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 4 = 13

Yes I did get my eyes crossed a bit in the wee hours of the morning. Sorry for the mix up. Follow the narrative and assume that Victor and Eponine's names are reversed in the OOC part.

The poison needs two consecutive saves to cure. The second roll does indeed end the effect of the poison. She did hit you a second time with a poison claw, but that only extends the effect, and increases the difficulty of the save, which you still beat. If she tags you again though you will have to start the save process over again.
Brock AKA "Bones" |
Confused. Either you are misunderstanding the poison rules or I missed a failed saving throw somewhere.
From curses to poisons to diseases, there are a number of afflictions that can affect a creature. While each of these afflictions has a different effect, they all function using the same basic system. All afflictions grant a saving throw when they are contracted. If successful, the creature does not suffer from the affliction and does not need to make any further rolls. If the saving throw is a failure, the creature falls victim to the affliction and must deal with its effects.
Brock has made 2 successful Fort saves, as far as I can tell, so he does not suffer any effects and he does not have to cure, because he has not been poisoned. Like I said, did I miss a failed Fort save? Looking over the thread, Wren failed a Fort save, not Brock. Maybe you're confused about that.

Nope no missed saves, I followed a search link to poison in the PRD that linked me to the section below that about poision but missed the general rule above that you pointed out under Afflictions. So that means that Brock was never infected with the poison at all and has only taken a small amount of damage from the tiny claws.

In the darkness Eponine's blade slashes through the air. Victor steps left trying to stay away from the nasty beast that is about to slay him. Wren stabs back at the creature that she thinks is facing Eponine and plunges her dagger into the back of the spawn. Then the room is filled partially with light as Sophy moves back closer to the prison cells.
End of Round 6
Begin Round 7
Brock disappears into the darkness plunging the spear into the spawn creature. Victor thinks he recognizes the sound of the creatures body falling dead to the floor
The spawn on the catwalk spins and lunges at Wren, screeching in pain from the dagger wound in its back. Wren is now dripping blood on the dirty planks of the bridge. With the return of the light the demon blinks out of sight.
2 Claws attack on Wren 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
1 Claw damage to Wren 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Wren Chavali |
I am wondering if Epi killed the beast we are flanking. I'll hold off on my action til the DM lets me know. We can treat that as a delay if Sophy and Brock know what they are going to do.
Mythril DM |
Eponine's eyes adjust to the arriving light as quickly as her rapier drives into the back of the creature. It falls down dead, tumbling over the side of the catwalk to crash on the ground below.
Victor stays put to avoid hurting himself or anyone else, still in the dark as he is.
Wren is up, then Sophy to end the round
Wren Chavali |
"Brock, bring that thing over here to the light. That's our only chance of taking it out!" Wren moves over nearer Sophy, clearing the area for her to bring the light back where it could be of use.
Sophy Cassell |
"Yeah!" Sophy shouts angrily over the edge of the catwalk to where the spawn lies on the stone floor. "That's for coming back from the dead and biting me, you freak! Now where's the little flying b%%%*?" She shoves past Eponine, bringing her light to bear on the room and looking for the little queen.
Move to F 16; Ready an action to shoot Erylium 1d20 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (17) + 3 - 2 = 18 Damage 1d8 ⇒ 5
AC 15; HP 19/19; light on crossbow
Brock is up.
Victor Montoya |
Victor's eyes go wide from the language coming from Sophy's mouth. Great. Now this flying little demon has possessed her. Great. At least now I have some new guilt for me to live with. I was not sure how I was going to cope with just my current guilt.
Mythril DM |
Wren moves down the catwalk and into the hall where Sophy has the light, but the normally diminutive woman barges out onto the catwalk unusually wrathful. The fills the room revealing the dead corpses of the spawn creatures, but the tiny demon is nowhere to be seen.
End of Round 7; Brock is up to start the next round.
Victor Montoya |
Finally being able to see clearly again, Victor notices that all the spawn creatures are dead. "Did we win?" He asks as he's covered in a multitude of scratches and more of his own blood, his broken bow in one hand, the dagger in the other.
Brock AKA "Bones" |
And speaking of that, Sophiiiiiiiie. Brock purposely drags out the pronunciation of her name, as he walks toward her. You run on us again, not compelled by magic, leaving us in darkness, and you will have to deal with me! Brock towers over her, ranseur and shortspear in hand, making it clear he will have no quips about running her through with either weapon. If you're going to run, leave the light source!
Intimidate check: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19...so you can see he means business.
Mythril DM |
Brock yells at the air threatening the little demon, but nothing happens in return. After a moment you all feel as if the demon must be gone or remaining very still and quite.
End of Combat
One minute passes
Eponine and Sophy start to argue and Brock makes it very clear he is unhappy with Sophy for leaving the room.
The wrath sickness lasts a total of 4 min. Let's round the combat to one minute so only three more minuets are left. One of them passing with this post.
1d20 + 11 ⇒ (11) + 11 = 22
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
As you watch Brock move to confront Miss Sophy you suddenly become aware that the two creatures on the catwalk are starting to stir.
As you watch Brock move to confront Miss Sophy you suddenly become aware that the creature on the floor, below the catwalk is stirring.
Mythril DM |
And to rest of you, now that you know we have someone who is spooked so easily, carry your own light sources! that way, we avoid this problem.
With that, Brock starts walking toward the altar room.
Brock is currently on F14 to represent walking towards Sophy to yell at her. I am not going to move him towards the alter room yet so characters can react to my post which was under construction while you posted this one.
Sophy Cassell |
"Oh, so you'd be fine if I stayed here and got killed as long as the light stayed on my broken, bleeding body!" Sophy snaps back at Brock. "Well, forgive me if I don't jump at the opportunity to die for Sandpoint! Sandpoint killed my father before I ever knew him, Sandpoint and its damned obsession with rustic carved birds killed my mother, and now Sandpoint asks me to walk down into a hole with a bunch of brain-dead 'heroes' who aren't smart enough to run away from something that they can't hurt while it kills them! Well, screw Sandpoint! And screw you! You want to die down here? Go ahead, but I don't intend to!"
