For those who've never played with me as a GM before, I should warn you that I tend to go off on tangents with Adventure paths. Taking ideas from character backgrounds and actions and rolling with them. This means that I can very easily get distracted and swerve off the main storyline on a side trek that may not appear again. That's the reason for my last post in the gameplay thread. I'm sorry if I'm being a bad GM, but I would really like to get to the stuff in the AP that I have planned, and avoid going down a rabbit hole that I don't need to.
Also, Lamm's supposed to be a two-bit wannabe crimeboss, not a man with lots of resources, as interesting as that side trek might be, I don't think I could do a good job of tying it into the rest of the AP.
Again, sorry if I was/am being that GM. I'll be turning you loose on Korvosa soon enough. :D

Zeverin Arkomin |

Um, wow. I was dying for someone to start all concerned and then pause, just so Zev could flat out say "She's dead." all cold and matter-of-factly.
But dude, you just pulled the head from the box and showed everyone. That by far tops the level of cold I thought I would be showing.

Mercy Quaalearn |

Hammered at work folks - will be until the weekend (number of projects and workscopes I'm involved with are at the pointed end) - so please DMPC Mercy as required.
If I get a chink of daylight I'll try and post but don't wait for me

DM-Salsa |

Yep, since that happened before Rhasuel triggered the thing.
That said, I'm sorry to do this, but I am not feeling up to typing something worthy of the scene in my head. Needless to say, I hope it is worth the wait.

Nicoletta Scarletti |

It's not quite midnight, but I'm having one of my post-midnight crazy spells anyway.
Salsa (and all those also in his RotRL game), are you wondering what would happen if Calcedon and Horatio ever met? Something about them Korvosan violinists, man.

DM-Salsa |

I'd actually like to see that, but Horatio is a bit busy stopping a goblin invasion of Sandpoint. :D

Calcedon |

It's possible they've met already. Cal has been performing violin since about the age that Horatio started loving it, being a child prodigy and all. It's quite possible that he may have been part of the reason Horatio wanted to play. Of course it's also possible that because Cal is a bit better at the violin than Horatio that they wouldn't accept his talent in Korvosa and he felt compelled to go to Sandpoint.
So, I suspect either a duel of some kind or a jam session, depending on how Horation would react. Cal would probably just like to play some music with the guy.

Nicoletta Scarletti |

Most of my PFS charcters are from the same family of Harrowers, and I love role-playing that. In first steps, my kapenia dancer, Veshemgo, kept asking Olyystra Zadrian if she knew his son, because his son was in the silver crusade. "Kalderasha Johan Stefan Balo la Kore? Goes by Kal? About this tall, has an angel following him around who doesn't have a good grasp on people? I only ask because he's too busy adventuring these days to visit is dear old dad."
But yes, Horatio's a bit busy killing goblins and apparently not sleeping at all.
Well, there's the fact that in order to be able to play the violin properly, you need to start before the age of eight, before the bones in your wrist set too much. By starting at age twelve - literally the first point where his Bridgefront-dwelling parents could afford a violin - he's had a hard time of it from the get-go. Something I forgot to mention in his profile is that his left wrist is slightly crooked - he broke it shortly after he started playing, and took advantage of it so he could reach the strings properly. He's been through a lot to be able to play as well as he does, and beneath all his arrogance and self-satisfaction, he's actually pretty sore about it. Not to mention he has a chip on his shoulder regarding the whole "dirt-poor upbringing" thing.
There'd probably be a good amount of jealousy there.

Paulus Westland |

My avatar image works for me.

Paulus Westland |

Come on now, that was flavor. You know we're gonna have to whip that ass! ;)

DM-Salsa |

@DeciusNero: Ouch that's no fun. Hope that gets sorted. :(
@Paulus: I just realized you're running the RotRL game that I'm playing Kiley in. Small world.

Paulus Westland |

Ha, I thought you knew. One of the reasons I picked the game up. :)

DM-Salsa |

Heh, I know that I have some overlap in my games, but I didn't expect to be running two games that had a gm from one of my other games in it. :D
I really didn't notice until I saw the DM Crispy in the tool tip, and I'm glad you picked it up. I have a specific build in mind for Kiley, for once, and I'm looking forward to turning into a steamroller.
That said, I'm almost wondering if I should let Krosk have a cousin that made his way to Korvosa. >:D
Ronnie, Nic's player, knows what I mean. I'll let her fill you in, unless you want to go through the RotRL game I'm running.

Elise Warden |

Hey Salsa,
For Elise, I had this image linked for her reference, and suits her well. That having been said, the avatar image is also pretty good for a stock picture.

Paulus Westland |

I've followed a good bit of that game, but not until the more recent stuff. I must've missed the reference. Kiley is already a goblin murder-machine, so we'll see what happens.
Elise, nice hit!

Calcedon |

I picture in my head David Garrett when I think if Calcedon. A violin pic of some kind would also work well.

Nicoletta Scarletti |

Mmmm... David Garrett...
Also, I'm not saying anything about Krosk. I was scarred for life, and there's no way I'm inflicting that on anyone else. And between Krosk and the dream, I think you may have done horrible things to poor, poor Spoony. >:(
As for overlap... yeah, I'm not even gonna go there. >.>

Paulus Westland |

I'm ready to...wave my scimitar menacingly while the rest of you beat down these scrubs. Then perhaps, if they're still alive, we'll sit down and talking about the sun and rebirth and I'll witness to them as the bright inspiring music of Calcedon plays in the background.

Calcedon |

So, I wanted to see how much the two violinists looked alike and I found this, emphasis mine.
Horatio stands just over six feet tall, with long back hair pulled back into a neat ponytail
Now, there's nothing wrong with being a little hairy on your back, but that's ridiculous. We used to joke about a Female Half Orc Ranger who used to braid her back hair into her braid, but I think this takes the cake.

Nicoletta Scarletti |

That typo actually kept me up last night. The rational part of my brain saw it as "hey, I found this typo and it amused me", but the huge, irrational part saw it as "HAHAHAHAHAHA LET'S LAUGH AT RONNIE FOR MAKING A TYPO". >.>
Just the regular insecurities at play; nothing out of the ordinary...

DM-Salsa |

You have to admit that if that wasn't a typo, Horatio would be a hit with the dwarven ladies. :D
All in all, if you can't laugh at yourself, who can you laugh at? If i makes any difference I wouldn't knowingly push anyone's buttons.

Nicoletta Scarletti |

Yesterday was a rough day filled with Ronnie doing lots of stupid stuff and generally being and feeling stupid. Icing on the cake and all that. And yeah, I did say it was the irrational part of my head... The irrational part just happens to be huge. >.>

I had a slip up almost exactly like that with my RL group a long time ago, and they still don't let me live it down.
It was my poor choice of pause while describing an NPC.
I was going over his description, and one of the features he had was "oiled-back" "hair". Due to my pause it came out as "oiled" "back hair".
Periodically, I get asked when describing NPC's if they have oiled, back hair.

Paulus Westland |

Yup...you learn quickly with a bunch of grown men to leave the word 'oil' out of your vocabulary entirely (except for perhaps the boiling kind). I'm a few years older than most of my RL group, so the maturity factor played a part for quite some time.

Calcedon |

It's an amusing typo, I have said quite a few things in public that my friends find hilarious to this day. It comes from doing much public speaking even though I find myself to be a natural introvert. At least I overcame the stutter for the most part.
I'm sorry if you lost sleep over it. I's just teasin all good-natured like. If anyone could be teased, I've missed things Zev has posted twice, even though I've scoured the thread to see if there were any reactions to what I said. My friends like to tease me and say I only read every other word and guess the rest. Sometimes, it really seems like it.

Nicoletta Scarletti |

Yeah, I know it was all good-natured teasing. A lot of things contributed to my lost sleep. The typo, a fight with my mother, lots of mistakes at the PFS table I'd just got back from, a toothache, the dogs farting and stinking out the room, having the 1812 Overture stuck in my head... as I said, icing on the cake and all. Tonight, I'm just looking at it, shaking my head, and fixing the f+#@ing thing :P
And yeah, I make my share of GMing mistakes. In my Kingmaker 'meatspace' game, the group captured a bandit alive and offered him a second chance at life. They asked his name, and he said his name was Glen. One of the guys asked me out-of-character how old Glen was.
"Well, he's a young fella. Looks to be about the same age as most of the party."
"So, about 20 years old, then?"
"Yeah, he looks that way."
"Got it." *writes* "Glen 20..."
It's become a running joke. His canon name is now Glen Venti.

Mercy Quaalearn |

Am still pretty slammed at work, although home interwebs has been resolved so no danger of complaints from me Salsa.

Nicoletta Scarletti |

Fret not, Salsa. Life happens. =)
Also, just letting you know I won't be posting much for the next couple of days. Tomorrow I'm running back-to-back PFS slots at a local convention, and the day after is my birthday, so I'll have family stuff going on. Try not to move too far without me!
