Zigil "Stardust" Aul |
Zigil drops the longspear, and speaks a few words holding aloft her buckler painted with the holy symbol of Iomedae. An earth-shattering KABOOM rocks the centre group of orcs.
"Blessed be the Word of Iomedae." Ziggy will draw her longsword and move to AC44 if the air is breathable there.

Wow. Chris must've touched my dice.

Eldan Whitecrow |
Eldan moves up o AC40 and says, "Let's see how much you like fire," as he says a few arcane words and points at the Orc Skald, a think red lineaps from his finger and flys right at it.
Scorching Ray: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 124d6 + 1 ⇒ (1, 1, 4, 1) + 1 = 8
DM Rambler |
The drummer snarls as Eldan's ray burns him. He then weaves his drumsticks in a complicated pattern as he rushes the top of the barricade. His mouth opens as if he were roaring a battle-cry.

Giles scrambles over the barricade and behind the first orc in line (provoking)
He then fires his blunderbuss at the next 3 orcs in line.

Oops, I forgot to mention that the rocks disappeared from Eldan's second spell. Ignore the blue lines.
Map update may take a while.
The first orc swings wildly at Giles as the farmer maneuvers past it.
slash!: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 182d4 + 6 ⇒ (1, 4) + 6 = 11
The strength granted by the frenzy it is in allows it to slice through the farmer's armour and slice a line across his back.
Giles' blunderbuss wounds a line of stunned orcs, and Garm charges in and sinks his teeth into the orc who hit his master.
Garm is really upset and may make a Trip combat maneuver if you wish.
Sergeant Frum maintains his post.

Garm sends his target tumbling to the ground, while Eldan takes minimal harm from the drummer's spell.
As Slei moves to a better angle, she can see the smoke is receding a bit. Concealment and saves within the green lines.
Most of the drummer's guards are stunned, but one advances through the smoke to Giles, and gives the farmer another wound.
Fort: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
slash: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 92d4 + 6 ⇒ (1, 3) + 6 = 10
The prone orc swings at Garm, and the faithful hound yelps and falls to the ground.
[ooc]slash: 1d20 + 6 - 4 ⇒ (15) + 6 - 4 = 172d4 + 6 ⇒ (4, 3) + 6 = 13
Another wave of eight orcs streams through the portcullis and begins charging up the hill.
Zigil "Stardust" Aul |
If I'm reading his sheet right, I think his AC should be 18. If so, I don't think the falchion should have hit him earlier.
Regardless, it doesn't change my action.
Zigil moves away from the prone orc (to AD44) to provoke an Attack of Opportunity, then continues moving to AB44. From there, spontaneously cast cure light wounds: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8 (not defensively) on Giles.
"Can someone hit the prone orc while I try to keep Giles standing?"
DM Rambler |
Oops... looking back here, either I misread something or the dice changed. Giles was not wounded this round. Garm was still knocked unconscious.
Also, does Giles' AC include shield of faith? If it doesn't, he would've been missed by the orc at the first barricade.
He was still hit by the Attack of Opportunity.
DM Rambler |
Grodar unties the last of the knots, and the logs carom down the hill into the massed orcs.
log vs orc: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (1) + 15 = 163d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 2) = 6
log vs orc: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (4) + 15 = 193d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 5) = 16
log vs orc: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (12) + 15 = 273d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 3) = 11
log vs orc: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (16) + 15 = 313d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 1) = 4
log vs orc: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (7) + 15 = 223d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 1) = 7
log vs orc: 1d20 + 15 - 2 ⇒ (18) + 15 - 2 = 313d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 1) = 9
Amazingly, one of the orcs manages to leap over them as they crash towards him.
Reflex: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (2) + 0 = 2

Reflex: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (10) + 0 = 10
Reflex: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (8) + 0 = 8
Of the orcs who are struck by the logs, only one stays on his feet.
The prone orc swings at Zigil as the priest does her fancy footwork, but it misses by a wide margin.

"Giles, you malingerer! You are healthier than you looked! If I had known, I would have taken care of Garm. The poor boy." Zigil is lying. She would have attacked the prone orc. "Never mind. Once we have slain our foes, I can channel a little healing."
DM Rambler |
Perhaps it was Zigil's taunts, but Giles briefly considers having a nap, then rejects the idea.
In case you didn't figure it out, the numbers by the orcs are the damage they have taken. The drummer has taken an additional 13 since the Wave 9 map went up.

Slei will drop her sling staff and draw and throw a dagger at the nearest orc.
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 161d3 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
If it hits, she'll use her precise strike ability to add her level to the damage. She'll also spend a panache point to double the precise strike's damage bonus on her next attack.
DM Rambler |
Slei's dagger goes whizzing past Zigil, and catches the orc in front of him in the throat. The wound looks fatal, but the orc's frenzy keeps it on its feet.
DM Rambler |
Several of the orcs rise from where they were knocked prone.
The one that Garm tripped provokes opportunity attacks from Zigil and Giles (who used power attack).
Frum attacks one of the four orcs that close with him.
power attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 262d6 + 10 ⇒ (2, 1) + 10 = 13
Orcs clamber over the upper barricade to threaten Giles and Eldan, and another enters the smoke to get at Giles but starts retching.
Fort save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
There are still 2 or 3 orcs to attack, but I'll wait a bit for Giles and Ziggy to take their opportunity.

Zigil "Stardust" Aul |
Zigil will attack the prone orc. "For Garm!"
DM Rambler |
As the orc which felled Garm tries to rise, both Giles and Zigil strike it back to the ground.
The central orc beside Giles has to pull out a dagger to replace the falchion he dropped, as do the other two which advanced on him and the one which closed with Eldan.
The orc Slei hit swings its falchion at Ziggy.
slash: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 162d4 + 6 ⇒ (2, 1) + 6 = 9
Because the cleric used his shield arm to put heft into her last swing, the orc connects!
Grodar's bolt grazes the drummer.
