While the Pathfinders fail to strike the halfling, he appears committed to his mission, wordlessly trying to finish off Zadim so he can get to his quarry.

Enora swings at the Assassin in an attempt to put him off balance.

To HIt: 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 2 + 1 = 8

No one ever claimed casters are proficient in melee!

Kolo bites at the halfling! RAWR!

Kolo Bite!: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (7) - 3 = 41d4 - 3 ⇒ (1) - 3 = -2

Shardra reloads her crossbow and maintains her watch.

Kyra charges the last remaining assassin.
Scimitar, charge, inspire: 1d20 + 2 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 2 + 2 + 1 = 141d6 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 2 + 1 = 6

Staggering from the assassin's stab, Zadim gathers all his strength to slash a last last time at the assassin, looking to end the fight.

Kukri, inspire, flank, target: 1d20 + 5 + 2 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 5 + 2 + 1 + 1 = 25 for Slashing: 1d4 + 4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 1 + 1 = 10

Zadim finally cuts down the remaining assassin, who wordlessly drops to the ground, showing little emotion at his failure. Such it seemed for both assassins.

They are professionals, after all.

Out of combat!

Ulisha comes rushing out to take a look at her would-be assassins before throwing her arms around Zadim.

"Oh you did it! Now we must hurry before Anwald decides to hire more Vessels for a follow-up attempt!"

So you've technically made a bunch of gold fetching and selling the various items from Ulisha's journal. Anwald Tullivor is the "gentleman" who set these assassins after Ulisha by naming her an enemy of the Red Revolution. His motivation was clearly because Ulisha stole the platinum cup from the Tullivors.

You have a few choices on how to proceed to wrap this up, but essentially your goal now is to get Anwald to stop his pursuit of Ulisha, either by paying him off for the stolen cup... or some other diplomacy or trickery. I'll let you guys discuss how you want to proceed, but essentially it will come down to (a) Paying him, (b) Diplomacy or (c) a Bluff.

Once you decide, I'll wrap up (if you pay him) or set the final scene (if you use Diplomacy or Bluff). If we go that route, we'll take the person with the highest Diplo/Bluff (Kyra or Shardra), have her roll and get some assist rolls.

Human (Qadira) Slayer 1 | HP: 5/14 | AC: 16 | T: 12 | FF: 14 | CMD: 17 | Fort: +3 | Ref: +4 | Will: +2 | Init: +2 | Perc: +4 | Sense Motive: +4 | Speed 30 ft.

Yay! Well, personnally, I'd go for diplomacy to get the most of the adventure :)

Dark Archive

With our amazing lack of murder-hobo for this setting, I too would prefer a diplomatic solution. I will assist anyone who makes the roll and remind our divine casters of Guidance for this very purpose!

Aid Other: 1d20 ⇒ 12

I have no negatives (Except to Strength), so that is a +4 to the Diplomacy roll of . . . ?

Grand Lodge

Female Human (Keleshite) Cleric of Sarenrae 1 | HP 13/13 | AC: 14 T: 10 FF: 14 CMD: 12 | F+3 R+1 W+5 | Init +0 | Perception +3

In character, Kyra would prefer a diplomatic solution too. I'll aid Shardra too, as well as cast guidance on her.

Diplomacy, aid another: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

Human (Qadira) Slayer 1 | HP: 5/14 | AC: 16 | T: 12 | FF: 14 | CMD: 17 | Fort: +3 | Ref: +4 | Will: +2 | Init: +2 | Perc: +4 | Sense Motive: +4 | Speed 30 ft.

Zadim will try to add arguments.

Diplomacy, aid another: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (18) - 2 = 16

Shardra will start with the very basic fact that material items are easily replaced by men of means.

Then she will shift to what she little she knows of the Red Revolution, and point out that this pursuit has done nothing but waste resources that could be used elsewhere to much greater effect.

After she's done hitting those salient points, she will then come back to the basic issue, which is that continuing this vendetta doesn't serve anything save filling the pockets of the local assassins.

She will then come back to hit up his pride again, not in a mean-spirited way, but to note that this heirloom is going to be given a secure place of great honor, where many learned scholars could research its lineage for ages to come! Why, some of those same scholars may wish to inquire into the extensive lineage of the Tullivor clan...

...And those hated Sarvios won't ever get this chance, will they? What a way to stick it to them!

That last one's not a stretch, Ulisha is a Pathfinder, she acquired it, she must have acquired it for the Society, right?

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 4 + 2 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 6 + 1 + 4 + 2 + 2 + 2 = 20 Argh. No pressure or nothing!

Kolo tries to help out, too! He's really a nice tuatara! Don't mind the teeth, he's very cuddly and cute, see?

Diplomacy(Untrained): 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (18) - 3 = 15

Diplomacy isn't required. You could simply pay Anwald for the stolen chalice without a check. The Diplomacy is to convince Anwald to dismiss his pursuit of Ulisha without being paid in recompense for what she stole.

Sharda works hard, making her points about the heirloom being in a place of great honor and being easily replaced.

His eyes flit over the heavily laden bags of the Pathfinders.

"Yes, easily replaced..."

He shakes his head and holds up a hand.

"I've seen my share of Pathfinders in my years. Each one easily carrying tens of thousands of gold in magic. You may believe my family is one of the wealthiest in Avistan, but I assure you, we cannot even collectively compare to the wealth of a single adventurer in the upper echelons of your organization..."

Anwald seems quite unwilling to budge on his grudge without some form of payback.

"You are correct that the chalice is replacable. This whole matter can be forgiven if I were to receive the chalice's value of five-hundred gold from your organization for Ulisha's crimes."

It's funny money at this stage. You've all made thousands of gold from the items Ulisha sent you to fetch, so 500g is easily handed over.

Barring objections to handing the coin over (you missed the Diplomacy check), he will forgive Ulisha, call off her bounty and you've completed all six quests!

Dark Archive

"Hmm, I see some honesty and wisdom in your words. I do not object to handing over what you ask."
