Zevo Miss Chance: 1d100 ⇒ 57
Zevo descends and joins the fray, using a combination of grace and brute force to get past his brother and the tight quarters. With a carefully-aimed attack, he pins one of the large rats to the deck.
Tan stabs his target, but the tough rodent continues to thrash and snap. Vanyel tries to shift and strike, but loses balance on the slippery deck for a moment and his attack only splashes bilge water.
ROUS 1 bite vs Tan: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17; Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 2
ROUS 2 bite vs Tan: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14; Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 2
The two remaining rats to the aft continue to bite Tan, rending more bloody wounds into his legs.

Again, the entire area is difficult terrain: movement costs double and you cannot 5 ft step.
At Clades, then Mahlugul.

With two strong attacks, Clades and Mahlugul bloody the water with two more dead rats.
ROUS 5 vs Mahlugul: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10; Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4
That should hit, with the squeezing penalty... and will probably knock Mahl unconcious. Let me know if I missed anything in the AC math.

Mahl gets a Con boost when raging ... and NICE DICE Zevo, we should form a band call I only roll 1s!
Tan continues to flounder in the water but stabs out with his superheated blade nonetheless.

Now bleeding from several new wounds, and stretching open old ones from yesterday, Mahulugul swoons and crashes to the deck, splashing salty bilge water everywhere.
Zevo's attack is spoiled as water hits his eyes, and Tan also misses as everything is sloshed about. Vanyel has better luck, taking advantage of a rat flipped over by the splash and stabbing it dead.
A single giant rat remains, attacking Tan.

"Oof, thrice damned monster rodents. How the he'll did they get on this ship?". Tan moves carefully and cautiously over to a crate and sits down.
Looking down, he wonders aloud. "Think there might be anything down here that no one has found cuz of these rats?"

Clades |

Clades chuckles, "Rats always find their way on to ships, you know that."
Glancing at Mahlugul, "Do you think you could get him back down to normal size, he's hard enough to move even then." With a laugh he also says, "And I should know, this is getting to be a habit"

"Oi hope there ain't no mo' of dem rats runnin round here. Let's get Mahl up, he just needs a drink.....he be fine"
Unfortunate member of the Band of ones!
Lets check the bilges, but there is no need to hurry back to our jobs, we should scope some things out before we fully emerge.

Clades stretches and looks around at all the injured "Remind me not to invite you all when we have to fight anything tougher then rats."
Clades chuckles and continues to search
How accessible is the bilges during the day and night? Is this a decent place to stash gear that we can actually retrieve?
If we are sticking around I will just take 20 on my search - 25 total

DM NomadSage |

Vanyel is able to get Mahlugul stabilized, though the battered half-orc remains unconscious.
Searching the bilge area, you count a number of discarded crates and boxes. One large crate, half-filled with moldy barley, has a couple large holes obviously gnawed out from within.
In the other boxes, you find a suit of leather armor, three rusted heavy maces, and 12 silver pieces. Your more thorough checks through the murky water turns up a pair of tindertwigs, a masterwork quality handaxe wrapped in oiled cloth, and 21 gold coins.
The bilge isn't locked, and easily accessible from the lower deck. There are a few nooks for hiding things (where you found the goods above), but like Vanyel said, the bilge is worked daily.

With some effort, you haul Mahlugul up and out of the bilge, and set him down in the lower deck by his hammock. Tan is not in much better shape, but at least you're conscious.
Up above, Mister Plugg greets you with a grimace. Looking over your wounds and scrapes, he grunts, "Looks like the wee rodents nearly got the best of you! Where's the other horc? Did he succumb to too many nibbles?" The quip draws laughs from the crew.

"He'll be fine, boss. Just needs to heal a bit ... nothin' some rum won't fix later, to be sure," Tan replies offering a salute to the first mate.
"The rest of you lot ... we knocked out a couple down stairs, they might still be alive right now ... likely to drown soon. So if you wanna try your chances with being bit by a four-foot long rat, I'm sure we could rustle one up for you to prove your manhood. Barehanded now, don't forget," Tan smiles, blood still staining his face and teeth.

"Ugh ... don't think I'll survive a day of work like this. Lemme see if I can find Sandara," Tan mutters to Clades. "Cover for me, I'll be up in the rigging shortly."
Tan will quickly search out Sandara and see if he can wheedle a quick heal from her ...

"Wouldn't be surprised if it was the Pirate Queen's breath down there. It's what happens when you send unarmed sailors against ... well anything with something sharp on their side. Thanks for your help beforehand ... we'd have been dead without it. Can I withdraw on your goodwill again and ask for some sort of healing so I don't collapse in the rigging and fall to my death?", Tan states nonchalantly, trying to smile through the pain.
