8 Sarenith, Day / Galley
Fishguts grabs Vanyel's arm as he moves towards the exit. "Ye better! Them're not just th' galley's blades, but them're th' Cap'n's!"
"Ye saw what hap'n to Jakes Magpie yesterday. Ye don' steal from the Cap'n and keep yer hide. An' fer sure, I ain't gonna give up my hide so ye can have a handy shiv!" With that, he lets Vanyel go.

8 Sarenith, Day / Quartermaster's StoreGrok looks Tan up and down and chuckles with a toothy grin. "Aye, think so, mate. But its thar Cap'n's prop'rty naw."
Seeing that he wasnt tossed out, Tan considers this a good start, "Cap'n's eh? Don't suppose you and I could come to an arrangement where that hat got lost back out here? I'm certain the Cap'n didn't tally all the goods himself, now, right? I can be very appreciative." Tan leans in slightly, lowering his head a touch and maintaining eye contact, letting his last statement linger.

Grok smirks, eyebrow arched a moment before she bursts into guffaws. "Nice try! I give yer credit fer tryin'. 'Course, nothin's free. If yer want'n somethin' of thar Cap'n's, yer gots ta earn it." She flashes Tan a smiling wink. "Whatcher gots ta trade?"
*
""Hey Fishguts, is there anything that Cutthroat Grok likes that I could use to win her over?" Clades pause, "Or anything she hates so I don't do that."
Busy with the food preparations, Fishguts doesn't even look up to reply. "Don't give'r any guff or tripe stories... she'll see right through that. She likes her drink... maybe a song. You gonna serenade 'er?"

Clades |

Clades give Fishguts a hearty belly laugh "Look at me Fishguts, short of the drink, and I imagine it would take a bit, I am not someone who serenades well"
"Well get these things back to you right as rain once we clean up the mess down below"

"Ima touch short right now, but it wont be long before I have things to trade with. I'm a man of many, many talents. Not asking for anything early, just trying to see whether its plain old gold you're looking for, or if you'd fancy something a bit more suited to you ... something more sophisticated." Tan smiles charmingly.
The Bilges
If weapons get passed out, and before Tan uses tactician to head down, he'll offer the following to Mahl
"You look like the sort that can hold a doorway by your very presence. How about I make that a bit more of a reality. I can increase you to the size of an ogre and give you the reach of a pikeman. It's temporary but more than long enough to clear the rats."
If Mahl agrees, Tan will cast enlarge person on the horc barbarian.

I'll leave it up to Mahl. Reach and the AoOs may be worth it. And regardless if they're just giant rats, we are level 1s with zero armor.

I mean, it's only been over 3 weeks since anyone posted...

Expanded to the size of an ogre, Mahlugul is immediately cramped by the ship's tight quarters. Getting through the narrow bilge hatch looks like it will take some contortions and a grease spell. (considered squeezing)
Tan opens the bilge hatch and glances around, seeing nothing moving in the standing water below. The bilge space also acts as a brig, and you can see a half-dozen sets of manacles fixed to the forward bulkhead. A single bilge pump rests near the stern.
Tan climbs down the ladder, splashing into the murky foot-deep water. The boards beneath are slick, and he takes a moment to keep balance while Vanyel joins him, light spell clearing illuminating the entire deck.
Almost immediately, more ripples in the water appear as a number of unusually-sized rats spring from the nooks and attack.
Water is considered difficult terrain, and the rats have 10% concealment from you.
I think I have everything set up properly in Roll20, but I'm still new to the DM side, so let me know if you can't see/access something. I placed your tokens and gave control to each of you.
For combat, I'm going to try something a little different from what we're used to. Everyone roll their own initiative. I'll build the combat order and then we'll start from the top. Post your action when its your turn, and I'll keep replying as things move along. As long as everyone keeps posting in a timely fashion, it should keep things flowing nicely. Like in Tike's games, saves are first or auto-fails, and, as much as possible, keep the OOC chats to the OOC tab.
So, roll initiative!

@ Tan: Did you move to engage? If so, you can move your token on Roll20.
@ Zevo: Can't say yet, you're last in the order. Wait your turn! ;)
That being said, if Mahl wan't to avoid the squeezing penalties, I'd allow that he can reach in and threaten anything within 5 ft of the ladder.
@ Vanyel: Drinking a mutagen, like drinking a potion, is a standard action, so you can move, but not attack. If you want to move, you can move your token in Roll20.
I can't access Roll20 at work, so I'll post the rats when I get done today.

Tan splashes towards the closest rodent, stabbing with his dagger ineffectively. Vanyel gulps down a flask of alchemical goo, enhancing his musculature visibly.
The rats nearest Tan converge on the ifrit, all gnashing teeth, wet fur and tails, leaving deep wounds on his legs. A third bites Vanyel.

Don't forget 10% miss chance against the rats in the water...
Clades Miss Chance: 1d100 ⇒ 1
Clades slides down the ladder and skewers the first rat he sees... or so he thinks. When the blade hits the deck, he realizes his aim point was just a water-distorted shadow.
Mahlugul Miss Chance: 1d100 ⇒ 39
Mahlugul makes to descend, but finds there's no space for him at the bottom. Instead, he reaches through and kills one of the rats at the base of the ladder.
Mahlugul's Option: you can move down now into the space where the dead rat is, but you will buy 2 AoOs to get there; or, stay up top and make reach attacks?

DM NomadSage |

Mahlugul shoves his way through the hatch and folds himself into the cramped bilge with a heavy splash. Two of the nearby rats snap at him as he moves. One cuts deep into the half-orc's flesh.
