Chapter 1: Stolen Lands? Well, steal them back!

51 to 100 of 162 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | next > last >>

No one is in the way of the trap Alan and you went last because for the initiative roll because I rolled a 2 for you. Also Bandit 4 is not in the line of fire he is outside the gates with the horses.

Surprise Round.

Initiative:
Happs: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Bandits: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15

Quentin successfully completes is spell and the thugs are so surprised they seemed stunned at the appearance of men. Before the hooded man has any time to react, Endrance attempts to close the gates which is met in failure but the bandits realize what is being attempted. Oleg runs for cover as the battle begins.

"OLEG!! What do y' think you are pullin' here?! Y' know Kressle will have y'r head!"

Happs, the hooded man, grunts in pain as a arrow sticks into his upper chest. He attempts to draw his weapon but his life his cut short when Ranzo attacks him and neatly cuts his arm off. The body of the hooded man falls with a thud. The thugs stare for only a moment before they attempt to flee through the still open door. They are met with the 'twang' of the Arrow traps going off.

The lone bandit outside screams as a actual small tree unroots itself and attempts to slam into him. The bandit dodges and turns to look at the rest of his group either down or bring attacked by a volley of arrows of which all seem to hit.

Enemy Status::

B4, Healthy

The bandits inside are 1,2,3. They are not attempting to fight but flee. When it is their turn I will show this. Thanks to your planning and natural 20s you took out most of the trouble. We will now begin Round 1!

As Ranzo ends the threat the leader presents as well, Quentin looks a little taken aback at the sight of the man's arm hanging on by a few cords of sinew, but shakes his head as if to clear it and then focuses on one of the more heavily wounded men.

Leaving the bow slack in his one hand still, he conjures a sickly looking glob of greenish slime in the other and hurls it at the thug.

As it flies, he shouts to the others, "What'd I say, cowards the lot!"

Ranzo wants to make sure no one gets away, in that note, on his turn, he plans on running thru the open door and attacking the bandit holding the horses.

Moving so not to receive any AOO's, but wants to attack the man much worse, so he will accept one if it happens.

Then, if able, turns around and says: "I TOLD YOU, STAND DOWN."

Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

Male Elf Druid (Treesinger)

I don't believe any of the bandits have drawn their swords yet Ranzo, so you should be fine to flank with the tree :)

As Ranzo charges up and attacks the bandit holding the horses, Alendiri's treant companion raises it's thick branches again, bringing them crashing down at the same man should he still be standing.

If Ranzo already took him down then the tree will close the gates (assuming the bandits are still inside.) If he's not flanking, then ignore the +2 to hit

Slam 1: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 3 + 2 = 21, 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Slam 2: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 3 + 2 = 18, 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

Leaving a bloody smear...

Alendiri inside draws and knocks another arrow, and fires at the now fleeing bandits, aiming for one of the unengaged ones so as not to endanger his friends. He was trained with a bow, but was not much of a warrior, so did not wish to risk harming them.

Shooting at Bandit 1 or 2, whichever isn't in melee. To hit: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14, 1d6 ⇒ 2

Endrance grits his teeth and moves forward. He raises his free hand and it glows blue with arcane might. He thrusts his hand forward and speaks in a booming voice, "Kneel before me!" A vortex of blinding light, revealing all seven colors of the rainbow, rips through the sky and shines down upon the group of thieves, rendering them all motionless and weak.

Endrance will move to get as many of the bandits as possible in one 15' cone without trapping any of his allies. He will make sure he is out of every bandits' reach. He will cast color spray. Each bandit caught in the spray must make a DC 14 Will save or suffer its effects, based on each bandits' individual Hit Dice.

2 HD or less: The creature is unconscious, blinded, and stunned for 2d4 rounds, then blinded and stunned for 1d4 rounds, and then stunned for 1 round. (Only living creatures are knocked unconscious.)

3 or 4 HD: The creature is blinded and stunned for 1d4 rounds, then stunned for 1 round.

5 or more HD: The creature is stunned for 1 round.

Alan sits back and waits for his friends to clean up. That went well, I'd say. After the fight, he collects his crossbow and string.

Round 1

Quentin's acid splash lands on the bandit as he attempts to flee. He lets out a scream of pain as the acid starts to burn him but continues to try to run. This only motivates the rest of them to run faster. They don't make it. Endrance shouts out and cats his spell. His color spray hits all of the men. Tactical decisions or experiences fighting arcane casters were not on these men list.

Bandit 1 Will:1d20 - 1 ⇒ (14) - 1 = 13
Bandit 2 Will:1d20 - 1 ⇒ (14) - 1 = 13
Bandit 3 Will:1d20 - 1 ⇒ (18) - 1 = 17
Rounds:2d4 ⇒ (3, 3) = 6

Two of the bandits drop unconscious while one attempts to continue running. He is shot by a arrow from Alendiri and falls to his knees. Noticing he is now alone and that the man who killed their leader is between him and freedom the man promptly surrenders. The young treant attacks the man first and brings him to a halt. The bandit falls to the ground dead from the attacks from the treant before Ranzo can make it to the man.

Oleg ducks his head out from his hideout and looks around the carnage with a grin beginning to cover his face. He looks quite satisfied with the bodies.

Enemy Status:

Happs, Dead
B1, Heavily Injured, Unconscious
B2, Injured, Unconscious
B3, Injured, Surrendering
B4, Dead

Battle is over. Good job everyone. I will list experience in my next post.

Male Elf Druid (Treesinger)

As Endrance fells three of the bandits with one spell Alendiri glances around and then stows his bow on his back, before lowering himself to the ground. "That was an impressive spell Endrance" he complements the Magus.

"Are they dead?" he asks as he draws close, crouching down beside the nearest and feeling for a pulse.

Heal check: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12

Male Human Fighter 1

"Good job everyone, anyone injured?" Ranzo goes to Bandit #3, disarms him and tells him to get inside the fort, and escorts him, leading the horses and mule inside the fort. "Can someone make sure this one. . " Points at Bandit #1. " . . does not die, no magic." Ranzo then disarms Bandit #2.
Oleg, get the rope to tie them up. You, down to your breeches, get undressed, NOW. Talking to Bandit #3.

Male Elf Druid (Treesinger)

Alendiri glances at Ranzo as he takes charge, and then looks to the indicated bandit, giving a nod, moving over to see what he could do. He didn't need to check the one his companion had downed to know he was gone.

Heal check again on the heavily injured guard this time: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
The Heal-fu is not with me today.

Alendiri shakes his head as he stands again. "There is nothing I can do for this man."

Male Human Bladebound Magus 1

Endrance bows with a proud smile. "I have spent many years studying magic. It's just a little side hobby of mine. But no, they are not dead. The power of my magic has simply brought them to their knees. The charter has called for execution by sword or rope, not mystic arts. Allow me to finish the job, though."

Endrance walks over to one of the unconscious bandits and raises his Aldori dueling sword over the man's body with both hands, looking expectantly at his comrades.

If no one objects, Endrance will coup'de'grace this guy. Automatic crit, dealing 2d8 + 8 ⇒ (1, 3) + 8 = 12 damage with a Fortitude save or death

Male Human Fighter 1

"Hold on we need to interrogate them first Endurance."

Male Human Wizard 1

After collecting up the traps, Alan leaves the two extra crossbows somewhere where Oleg can see, and goes to retrieve as many bolts as possible. As he's working, he points out We really only need to leave one of them alive. All we need to know is where to find the rest of them, and they all know that. Kill the injured ones, and get the coward to give up the goods.

Male Human Fighter 1

Loud enough so the bandits can hear him. "My thought is to interrogate each of them separately, then ask them why, if any of them, have different responses to our questions. It helps confirm veracity. Also each of them might know something different about their camp south of here."

Male Elf Druid (Treesinger)

"Let us just tie them up for now." Alendiri suggests, agreeing with Ranzo's proposal, even if he would have kept things a bit simpler. "There is no need to make hasty decisions." He looks to Oleg then, waiting for some rope so they could secure the two unconscious bandits before they regain conciousness, his own rope back in his bag in his room.

Male Human Inquisitor / 1

Quentin snaps his fingers in and grimaces in disappointment as the glob of acid only barely catches the thug, only to blink the next moment at the startlingly bright rainbow of colors that leaps from Alan's hands, knocking most of the bandits out cold.

Unstringing his bow and meandering over to where the group has gathered, he listens to everyone's inputs on the situation before shouting back to Oleg, "Goodman Oleg, would you be so kind as to fetch some rope from your stores?" His tone is polite, not presumptuous, and makes sure to offer the older man a smile of thanks.

With that presumably taken care of, Quentin puts in his own two cents. "Aye, we'll judge each of them individually, and I think we'd work well enough as a council of judges. As for interrogation..."

Nudging one of the unconscious thieves, he smirks and looks back up to the group. "I have some experience with that sort of thing. Ranzo, you up for a game of 'good guard, bad guard?'"

Male Human Bladebound Magus 1

Endrance nods and lowers his blade, sheathing it and then collecting some rope and binding the bandits' hands. He finishes tying the last member's hands just as the men start to rouse, the stunning effect from Endrance's spell finally wearing off.

Endrance places his sword at one of the bandit's necks and looks him directly in the eye. "I am Endrance Rivaine, a powerful warrior and warlock. A master of both the arcane and the martial. I strongly suggest you not piss me off, or I will slit your throat." He channels raw power into his sword and the blade glows and sparks with power as Endrance brings it closer to the man's jugular. "Understand?"

As a swift action, Endrance uses his Arcane Strike feat for special effect, then makes an Intimidate check.

1d20 ⇒ 16

Male Human Wizard 1

Alan smirks a little and mumbles, so only Quentin can hear Dear lord, this could be hilarious. I'm going to get a good view.

Alan will sit a ways off from wherever the questioning is taking place and watch without comment.

Male Human Fighter 1

"Lets make sure they are stripped to their breeches, tie them up and let them wake up, then we can interrogate each of them. I don't think we need to set a precedent for convening a council of judges. Quentin, if you have experience you can take lead on the interrogation.

Ranzo will do basic first aide on each of the bandits requiring it with a simple bandage on their wounds.

"Someone take care of the horses and mule, we will have to gather the bodies also."

Oleg nods to the adventuring group and runs into his storeroom to bring out enough rope to bind the bandits. In Oleg's his head he is already planning out hanging some of the bandits bodies to warn off other miscreants away from his trading post. He hands the rope over to Ranzo.

"That should be enough for the three. Can't thank you all enough for this. Your welcome to stay free of charge for as long as you want. We will even provide for the meals! My wife was putting together a small reward for you all too. I'll go let her know what has happened."[b] he replied eagerly as he almost skips to the trading post where Svetlana awaits to hear what has happened.

Two of the bandits are injured while one looks as if he is in terrible pain. The one bandit conscious enough does as ordered by stripping and pleads for his life. He is made silent by Endrance's intimidation but only starts to plead again.

"I tell ye anything yall want! Just don't kill me! I got kids to feed! I'll tell ya everything. About Kress, Happs, and I'l...ill..take ye to the camp! I promise I will!"

Found Treasure:

2 Alchemist Fire
(5)Leather Armour
Dagger
Composite Longbow(+2 Str)
100 Arrows
(4)Longbow
(4) Short swords
10 days of rations
75gp
Silver Stag Lord Amulet(Appraise 15 DC)
6 Horses(With Standard Riding Gear)
1 Mule

Male Human Bladebound Magus 1

Endrance scoffs and lowers his blade. "Heh! A coward! Dealing with this trash is beneath me. Someone else take over." He turns his back to the bound criminal and steps away, sheathing his blade as he moves. "No point in getting my sword damp with the blood of a man who can't even look me in the eye."

Male Human Inquisitor / 1

Quentin smirks as Endrance makes a show of insulting the man, shrugging as he walks away. "Well, he's not wrong," he notes to no one in particular. "And personally, cowardice is probably the smart thing in this situation," he muses to the captive bandit, arms crossed and looking down his nose at the prisoner.

"Don't take that to mean I'm calling you smart, mind. Just smart enough to know when you're beaten. Keep playing it like that and you might just make it out of here without a nice hemp collar," intimating a rope around his own neck by wrapping his hand around his own throat loosely.

"As I see it, the next smart move for you to make would be to spill it. All. Right now."

Intimidate check: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24

Male Human Wizard 1

Dibs on one of those alchemist fires! Alan plucks one up and sticks it in his pack.

Male Elf Druid (Treesinger)

Alendiri shakes his head slightly as his fellow charter bearers posture and strut for the prisoners. He meanwhile moves quietly away, speaking with his companion quietly for a minute or two, before rounding up the horses and mule should they have strayed, and leading them back within the gate. His companion meanwhile curls several small branches around the dead bandit, and drags him within the walls, laying the leader 'Happs' out next to him as well, before heading back outside the gate and digging his roots back into the ground to enjoy some of the morning sun.

With the horses in the stable-though with their tack and gear still on them for the moment-the elf moves out and starts to strip the dead, making a tidy pile of what he finds. He pauses as he pulls the amulet off of the leader, turning it over in his hands, glancing up at Alan as the Wizard grabs a vial from the pile. He doesn't comment, tucking the amulet into a pocket, and resuming his patient work as he moves on to the living guards as they regain consciousness, taking off what he can without unbinding them.

With that complete, Alendiri will attempt to capture Ranzo's attention, and draw him away from the prisoners. "I found this on the one I believe they called Happs." he observes, pulling out the silver amulet. "I suggest you ask them of it's significance during your questioning."

Appraise (Int) check: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Nope.

Male Human Wizard 1

Alan notices the amulet in Alendiri's hand and says Hey, let me take a look at that. 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24

Got it. Boom.

Oh, this is ________ Narkari, please fill in the blank here.

"Oh, this is worth 20 gold pieces." Alan remarks about the Stag amulet.

The lone bandit gives a small sigh of relief as Endrance backs off but is soon shaking in his boots once more when Quentin takes the stage.

"I'll tell ye whatever you want to know! Promise! Just ask! Jus't don't kill me! "

This pleading of the thug makes the the other two more aware as they find themselves alive and awake. They attempt to struggle against the binding to escape even if they are half naked and injured. It seems these two thugs are bit more keen on escaping then the sniveling coward who wishes to spill his guts to the group.

Escape Artist:
Bandit 1: 1d20 ⇒ 2
Bandit 2: 1d20 ⇒ 10

They both fail utterly and slump against each other. Their injuries only looking worst after they struggled against the rope. Both mens faces become stubborn and it seems these two wish to keep their mouths shut.

Perception Check DC 15:
If looked upon closely, these two bandits that attempted to escape look related to each other. They both have similar features. Both are also looking around as if for a body.

If you want better information your gonna have to ask better questions. :) These men aren't the smartest if the lot.

Male Elf Druid (Treesinger)

I believe Ranzo put a list of questions in the discussion thread.

Perception check: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20

Alendiri walks back over to the two bandits leaning against each other, crouching down close to them. He peers at the two of them closely before speaking "Who are you looking for? I'm afraid the other two were killed." he gestures to the two naked men in their underclothes laying still on the ground where he had left them.

"If they were also your kin then I am sorry. If you wish to avoid their fate however then I suggest you cooperate; if you are helpful, and swear to turn from your current path, then once we have sought out your camp and dealt with the bandits there we will release you." the Elf's voice is soft, almost kind; he is no man of great words but he is compassionate when he can be.

Male Human Fighter 1

Dibs on the Composite Longbow with arrows and one of the horses.

Anyone else want any of this gear? Endurance, Alendiri Quentin, can you use a long bow? Quentin, why don;t you take the second Alchemist Fire, unless you think Alan could make better use of it."

I say we give the following to Oleg and Svetlana: (5)Leather Armour, Dagger, (4)Longbow(unless someone can use one), (4) Short swords, 1 Horses(With Standard Riding Gear), 1 Mule

Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 13

Alright, Endurance get on the wall and stand guard for now, be sure you can see the brothers from where you stand. Alan could you help Alendiri with the gear and such, Quentin, lets take a walk with Mr. Talker.

Walk up to in front of the three captives with Quentin: We have a warrant from the swordlords to execute bandits by sword or rope. Does anyone here deny being a bandit? Hold on. If any of you lie to myself or Quentin I will execute you by sword by cutting your Achilles Tendon's. Bring up my foot and hack at it with my hand to show where it is. "Break both your upper arms just above your elbow" Again use my hand. Then cut open your gut a little bit. Hand across the lower belly. Just enough to stuff it with offal from the middens, throw a bandage around your gut and throw you in the sun. Technically, that is execution by sword. So who here is a Bandit?

Take Talker outside the walls, show him the amulet, and first ask about that.
Give him a piece of paper and a pencil an begin asking the questions.

When he is done; bring him back and tie him somewhere where he can't see or talk to the brothers. Okay, Number one, your next, lets see if you can answer the questions exactly the same.

Then do the same with Number two.

Then bring then all back together;
Now each of you will go with one of use to a private spot and you will tell us anything we might have missed, and yes this is a competition.

GM: You can respond to in Discussion thread

Male Human Bladebound Magus 1

Endrance nods and climbs atop the mighty fortress's wall, scouring the land with his keen eyes to see if he can spot any reinforcements heading towards them. He keeps one hand on his sword, feeling it pulse with excitement at the idea of a true challenge. "Calm yourself," he whispers to the blade. "We must be patient. The true foes will reveal themselves soon."

Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 8

Male Human Inquisitor / 1

Can we take 10 on Perception? If so, 19. If not... 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10

Quentin plays good guard and shrugs at the idiots who very plainly tried to wriggle out of their bonds but failed utterly. "I'm not going to argue semantics with him, but that sounds like an awful lot of work to me. Save us the effort and make the right decision by the time we get back, eh?"

With that, he starts with the wife-and-kid-having bandit, plying him for information (basically the questions we already posted in the discussion thread) and then repeats with each other bandit individually.

Finally, he'll take one of the bandits for final 'extra' interrogation Ranzo suggests, appearing to be somewhat sympathetic if the bandit(s) show regret but not promising anything.

Male Human Inquisitor / 1

Quentin pays very sharp attention to each bandit's stories, if they're willing to talk at all.

Sense Motive on Talky Bandit: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23
Sense Motive on other bandit #1: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23
Sense Motive on other bandit #2: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21

Narkari, waiting for a response to this post please.

Both of the now awaken bandits look at the elf and look at each other as if silently communicating before one of them opens his mouth to speak. "One of those men you killed was a close friend. We ain't going to answer anything unless we are promised more then just our lives. We aint killed nobody and we ain't afraid to die."he repies and then spits on the ground.

They all listen to the threats by Ranzo. While the bandit who has so far promised to answer all their questions looks visibly scared the others only appear grim as if their fates are already decided. "It seems like you folk are worse then us lot. We ain't ever torture no one. We might have better information then that coward O'Brian but we at least have some honor..."

O'Brian the bandit who has been the most helpful so far has told the entire truth as far as you can tell but it does seem he only gives the bare minimum to the questions asked and does not elaborate unless specifically told too. The brothers refuse to betray each other and agree only to talk if they are allowed supplies to travel and both their lives. They seem to be telling the truth about knowing more then O'Brian but were lying when they said they were not afraid to die.

Cannot take ten on this perception. Sorry.

Male Human Wizard 1

This is ridiculous, Alan say generally to any bandits listening. What do you stand to gain by haggling and making demands? We could very easily just kill the lot of you right now, since this one has told us where to go.

Male Elf Druid (Treesinger)

"They stand to gain their life and their freedom Alan." Alendiri observes as he stands. "I suggest that we discuss this matter inside. I will ask my companion to watch over the men. If the others seem willing to discuss the matter then Alendiri will call his treant friend to stand over the captive bandits with instructions to incapacitate them should they start to get free of their bonds, or otherwise try and escape, and will relay this is common to the the other charter bearers. If necessary he points to the dead bandit his companion slew if they need proof of the Treant's abilities...

Male Human Fighter 1

To O'Brian outside of the brothers hearing: "I need specific directions with landmarks to the camp, nothing vauge, NOW."

GM: You can respond in discussion

Inside, where the bandits cant hear us:

While fashioning two hangmans noose "They, the brothers, are bandits, they are uncooperative, I won't play one against the other, its a two for one offer. They tell us what they know or I throw them over the wall at the same time and this will catch them. Hold up noose. We have enough from talker O'Brian to move on the camp, agreed?.

I don't like killing, but if the brothers go north, and start up crime, are caught and its found out we released them, we will loose our warrant. Quentin, I like your idea of ball and chain, maybe we can order that thru Oleg. Questions?

Male Elf Druid (Treesinger)

"Except this is not only about the camp. Our charter states that we are to punish unrepentant banditry. I have no love of their kind or what they do, but if they can be reformed then they should have the chance. If they prove untrustworthy, then I will hang them myself." Alendiri's voice is firmer now, not deliberately argumentative, but that of a man ready to stand his ground. "We need not send them anywhere, they could be held here, and work their debt off for Oleg. If they cause him trouble, then he or one of us carries out the charter. It seems to me that they wish only to be reassured of their lives and safety should they cooperate; with all the threats being made I understand their hesitance to accommodate those who would maim and torture them."

Male Human Fighter 1

"They want supplies and the ability to travel, we can't watch them then. They might be telling the truth, but what happens in a month when they get hungry? I agree on unrepentant though. If we can come up with a way they can stay here safely with Oleg, and Oleg agrees, I am willing to go along with it. Whats everyone else say?

Male Human Wizard 1

Alan says to Alendiri, so that that the bandits can't hear I agree with you. I was just hoping to get them to cough something up without a fuss or us having to make promises.

To everyone else These men are not entitled to anything, let alone their freedom and safety. I believe we all agree on that. They deserve to be hanged at once, but I also believe we are all willing to show mercy. I suggest that some stay here under lock and key to work for Oleg, and that one of them comes with us to serve as a porter. If it seems appropriate to release them after a time, so be it.

Male Human Bladebound Magus 1

Endrance spots his allies having a group meeting and climbs down, catching the last part of Alan's words and rubbing his chin, intrigued. "Forced labor to make amends, rather than execution? That seems like a good idea, actually. We will need as many men as we can get to build our new society, after all."

"If they won't give us any information, we can always just find the bandit camp ourselves. We have to find it, regardless, and if these men aren't willing to cooperate, we'll just have to rely on stealth, cunning and knowledge of the area. Do any of you know this part of the Stolen Lands very well?"

Male Elf Druid (Treesinger)

"It seems that we are more or less in agreement then." Alendiri observes. He glances at Endrance as the man asks if any of them know the area. "I have traveled through this area in the past, but much has changed since then... I am an able woodsman however, so I believe with the information we have I should be able to locate this camp."

The elf is quiet for a few moments, looking into the distance. "This is what I suggest we do. The two brothers have been uncooperative because they fear for their lives. We promise them their lives, and eventual freedom if they will serve for a time, honorably as the claim they are. To ensure this, we leave... O'Brian was it? We leave O'Brian and one of the brothers here with Oleg, he can tie them up and keep them locked up until he can get some manacles or the like, and we take the other brother with us to be our porter. We make it clear to them that if either one of them tries to escape, or do harm to Oleg, Svetlana, or ourselves, then both their lives are forfeit. If one escapes his brother will pay the price for him. Does this sound agreeable?"

"I told you how to get there! I can't do anymore! I swear!" O'Brian pleads to Ranzo. He hand't been lying about how to get there. As far as he was concerned if they killed those bandits and not him it only make him safer. He liked living thank you very much.

Svetlana goes to speak to the group while they are discussing what to do about the prisoners. She overhears what they are talking about and while she doesn't much like having the men that wanted to steal from them nearby she does see the benefit for free labor if the men were truly willing to change.

"We hopefully should get the group of guards we asked for soon. I don't see much problem as long as they behave. We could always use more help building this place up." she replies. She takes a small basket out and gives it to Ranzo.

"This is a gift for helping us. It isn't much but we hope it helps"

Gift:
2 Potions of Cure Light Wounds
1 Potion of Shield of Faith +2
50gp

"Svetlana, we have some stuff for you to do with as you will. Ranzo points at the pile of unclaimed gear which includes (5)Leather Armour, Dagger, (4)Longbow(unless someone can use one), (4) Short swords, 1 Horses(With Standard Riding Gear), 1 Mule. Also included is Ranzo's old short bow but no arrows.

Thank you Miss, very much, this will go well to starting our group cache.
He hands it to Alan, along with the Stags Head. Her you go sir, our first deposit. Everyone else gets 15 Gold Mark your sheet Who took the last Fire, I took Haps bow and all the arrows and Haps hooded poncho.

Alendiri, here take my arrows, you use a bow that can take them.
Ranzo give him 3 20 packs of quivered arrows made for a shortbow.

Everyone walks out to the brothers and O'Brian.

Bandits we have come to a decision, you have all been confirmed to die as bandits, but in case you are repentant, you three of you can work off you debt to Oleg and Svetlana, under horrible rules and conditions until you show your sincere attitude that you have thrown off your bandit ways.

If at any time you show any leaning to returning to your bandit ways, any of us will without confirmation from anyone else will carry out the sentence. Both Oleg and especially Svetlana have the right to carry it out also.

Some of you might have to work longer than others for holding back information, especially if any of the information that you had hurts any of when we take the camp. So if you brothers have better information, now it the time. I promise you your lives now, without that, but it will go better for you in the long run if you tell us your " . . better information then that coward O'Brian . . " you alluded to.
Up to you gentlemen.

Quentin hangs back from Ranzo as the warrior announces the consequences of the thieves' actions to them, asking Svetlana in a quiet voice, "Are there supplies to fashion a ball-and-chain, or manacles of some sort in the fort? And...I hate to need to ask this, but should it come to it, would you have any problem killing one of these men should they try to turn?"

So in party treasure we have Stag's Head Amulet (20gp), 2 Potions of Cure Light Wounds, 1 Potion of Shield of Faith +2, & 50gp?

Alendiri will grab one of the Longbows actually. He would have had one before but couldn't afford it :p So he would like some of those arrows too, 40 will be fine.

Alendiri indeed follows Ranzo back out, and immediately frowns as the man reinterprets his suggestions, or at the least alters it somewhat.

"That is not what we discussed Ranzo..." he says softly, resting a hand on the man's shoulder so as not to display a divided image to their prisoners. He looks out over the prisoners, wondering what sort of response they would get from Ranzo's modified proposal.

Was it, hhmmm... Maybe I am just to hardnose, the two brothers know something and I was hoping they could tell us, I don't want anyone to get a spring loaded poison javelin in the gut cause the brothers are the trap setters. Course we did not tell them how long they would serve either. Do you want to handle the diplomacy and I handle the military matters from now on?"

Male Human Bladebound Magus 1

Endrance frowns and approaches the pair of them as well. He puts on a blank expression so no one can see his dissent and speaks quietly. "Self-defense is one thing, but granting two civilians the authority to take the life of a prisoner based on assumptions and personal judgment of the prisoners' behavior, while the two captors will probably already hold a negative bias towards them, that does not sit well with me. I will not stand by and allow you to encourage vigilante justice. We came to establish order here, Ranzo, and that can only happen if we, the new police force, handle our jobs responsibly and lawfully."

Male Elf Druid (Treesinger)

Do we actually have anyone with Diplomacy?

"Well I'm no great diplomat either, but if necessary I can handle such negotiations..." he agrees with a thoughtful expression. He nods to Endrance as the man comes up, the declaration that the prisoners could be executed without any sort of authority had seemed problematic to him as well. "We can discuss this with Oleg further later. For now let me attempt to... clarify the agreement we wish to make with the three."

If noone else steps forward to voice an opinion then Alendiri will step forward, to speak with the three in a more normal tone.

"As Ranzo said, we have been given the authority to execute bandits when we find them. The charter we have been granted however, is not without some leeway." he looks over the three, giving them a chance to respond. "You have asked for more than your lives, and we are prepared to give you more, but you must prove yourselves trustworthy. If you agree to our proposal then you will have your lives and your freedom."

Let me know if I should continue Narkari, giving them a chance to reply :)

Male Human Wizard 1

Gentlemen, please. We just need to settle this. These men have clearly committed a crime, they need to be punished. The charter says unrepentant banditry is punishable by death. Let's give the fools a chance to work for us. If they say no, we kill 'em. I agree with Endrance, though, we can't leave them with Oleg. That's not part of our job. Honestly, we are going to encounter many more bandits, and I doubt that they will all be stupid enough to fight to the death. We need a good system to handle these situations in the future.

The men are silent for a moment and seem to look at each before making hand gestures to each other. Its filled with shrugs, pointing and facial expressions. They seem to ponder over Ranzo's request but seem much more open after Alendiri straightens things out.

Svetlana looks a bit taken about from Quentin question and shakes her head while whispering back to him. "We don't have anything like that here. We could maybe build one or order it if needed. We are still in building stages here. My husband I think could take care of us as long as they aren't given weapons but.....I'm not sure."she didn't think she would ever like the men. They had stolen her wedding wing their first visit after all.

One of the brothers finally speak and by the tone of voice he seems a bit more open. "Names Jimmy and this body next to me is Logan. You already met O'Brian." he replied giving the frighten man a sneer. "Well, I suppose we will give you that information. I just hope you keep your end of the bargain. Now where to start...."he sighs as if truly wondering where to start.

"O'Brian was new so he didn't know as much as me. Our boss is a monster of a man. Calls himself the Stag Lord, he is a deadeye with a bow, and I saw him crush a prisoner's hand to mush in one fist. Come to think of it, I've never seen him without his creepy stag helmet on;some of my friends think he ain't got no face under it,but not me, I think that creepy helm is his face!"

He relays some information you have already heard but he also gives a lot of new things that will definitively help the group out such as the guards having Thunderstones to alert of intruders and that the Stag Lord is a drunk. They have apparently been gathering a lot of shipments of alcohol to be shipped to the Stag Lord. He tells of rumors that the Stag Lord is even being controlled by a old man too. He lets out a gem that may prove useful later on and he hopes it will help his brother and himself.

"It's hard keeping track of who working for the boss, so we use a master phrase as a sort of password to get in to the fort on the northeast shore of Tuskwater. Unless it's been changed recently, the current phrase is'By the Bloody Bones of St.Gilmord, who wants to know?' And no, I have no idea who St.Gilmorg is."
