Taket
Taket manages to dodge the worst of it but is bathed in flame and wonders how his new companions seem to be unfazed by the breath. []b]Hey! Why do you not suffer from this breath? he asks.
Reflex: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26 [ooc]Taket takes half -2, or 17 from the breath before he moves in to try to take the dragon down.

Hearing the white haired woman's plea, and seeing the dragon land, Boran rushes in silently to stab the wyrm.

Taket is slightly scarier +16 to intimidate vs +15. But you do not know Taket yet.
+28 here, how am I doing?
I may have min-maxed a bit on Intimidate though, but I'm unashamed Taket! I've seen some of your PFS characters, haha.
Skarn Hornfels
"Oy! Dragonskin slippers for everyone once this beastie drops. High time for Garrosh too, those bunnyskin ones he is so proud of have seen better days!"
Skarn also charges the dragon, making his weapon dragonbane. Justice and Destruction Judgements still active. A Young dragon is large. Power attacking.
+2 Heavy Pick Hit: 1d20 + 14 + 2 + 2 + 3 + 1 - 3 ⇒ (14) + 14 + 2 + 2 + 3 + 1 - 3 = 33

If that hits, I will take a free action to Demoralize using Cornugon Smash.
Intimidate: 1d20 + 28 ⇒ (3) + 28 = 31
If I had to guess, he's shaken for a round or two, shame I rolled so low.

So you carry the head. :) Intimidate is a sideline for Taket. He only does it when he drops a creature as a free action. Seemed like a cool thing to do for free - intimidate all enemies in a 30' radius. I could take a feat to add my strength modifier to the roll which would bump it to a 24 when raging. So many good feats to choose from though.

Coughing and sputtering soot/ash, Nadi flies backward, away from the dragon. Where she can get range. Withdrawl. She's 60' away, 3 ft in altitide.

"I can only get three of you plus myself. The others might just have to run away!"[/ob]
I want to wait and see if th dragon is dead. If so, I'm going to confuse the heck out of that batch of Giants. If the dragon isn't dead, I'll try to figure a way to bother it.

I said I was cutting off the giant leader's head...

As soon as you die, dragon, I'm taking your heart. For ta eat.
DM Mathpro
Hey guys turns out I've been using the wrong stat block for the dragon...I appologize for the confusion and I am going to transfer all the damage over to the proper stat block but a lot of your hits shouldn't have been hits. Like I said I'm still counting them so your not being punished for my screw ups. Turns out there was a stat block printed in the ROTRL book...I was using one on the prd...oops
Round 4 wrap up
Boran your charge attack misses. Garrosh you are able to start working on severing the head but its going to take a little more time. Skarn you drive your pick into the beast. The dragon is shaken for two rounds. Seeing two nice tasty targets engaged in mele with it the dragon unleashes his furry on them. Fortunately for Boran and Skarn none of the attacks hit and as the dragon lashes out with his claw on Boran he pulls a muscle in his arm and that claw us unusable for the rest of the combat. Taket you are unable to avoid the AOO and the Dragon leashes out at you with his bite. The dragon crunches into you for 10 damage(after adjusting for your DR) before you connect with its head and deal the killing blow. The dragon is dead. Wren you try to confuse the group of three giants that are closest to the group. If your confusion spell was still persistent then all three giants are confused, if not only 2 of them are. Nadezdha you can take the dragons heart if you wish though there are more giants around. Some giants have noticed that their leader has fallen and that there is a scary group of adventurers that just killed the dragon so all but the 3 that Wren just confused have left the city.

As Taket's hammer takes the life of the dragon blood and brains fly in all directions causing quite a demoralizing sight.

"Let the giants fight each other."
Skarn moves over to Nadezdha to heal her. At the same time he looks to Garrosh but points at Boran, "can you heal that one?"
CMW: 2d8 + 10 ⇒ (4, 4) + 10 = 18 on Nadezhda
"There's more where that came from lass, if we've the time."
Taket
Dropping from rage the barbarian looks fatigued for a moment. He is somewhat burned as well. Is there enough healing to go around? That lizard spit on me before I could smash it proper.

Skarn looks at Taket and winks, "see? The pointy eared females really like me."
He turns back to Nadezdha, "seems silly to waste arrows on a dead dragon."
Nadezdha

Wait, what? *looks back at GMs last post* Oops. Nadi shrugs. Well, you can never be too sure with those bastards. the only thing worse than a dead dragon is an UNdead one...hehe.
Garrosh Saurfang
Reflex Save: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12
Garrosh takes the brunt of the dragon's breath as he sets to his grim task - "Figures" - he grumbles, his skin badly burnt.
Once the mighty drake goes down, he turns to the others with a grunt - "What are we going to do about those over there" - pointing toward the giants - "We should try to capture at least one of them for interrogation" - he adds.
"Now gather around, so I can take care of some of those wounds"
Channel: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 2, 2) = 10
Channel: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 5, 2) = 11
The burst of healing emanates from the half-orc, encompassing all his companions, as he offers a prayer to his God - 'Another challenge overcome'
"That should improve it some" - he nods at the others.
Boran
"This one appreciates the healing, priest." Boran says to Garrosh. "As fer the interrogation...I might be able to help with that..."
He says before creeping up on the giants, looking for the most wounded looking one out of the group, and coming in behind it with the intent to brain it with the butt of his polearm.

Sneak Attack: 3d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 6) = 11
Realized I was forgetting to add 1/2 strength mod to damage for using a two handed weapon in previous attacks, but I will do so going forward. Not sure how th he GM feels about Power Attacking on a Sneak Attack, so I rolled SA dice separate incase it isn't kosher.
Taket
Taket is pleasantly surprised by Garrosh's healing. My thanks. he says, still breathing hard from the fight. I did not expect healing from a barbarian looking fellow like yourself.
Taket will examine the dragon's body wondering if it has brought any of its hoard with it. We need to find this thing's nest once the town is secure. I hope there is a large pile of unguarded treasure there.
Garrosh Saurfang
"And I wasn't expecting any thanks from a barbarian looking fellow like yourself also - just goes to show I guess" - Garrosh grumbles back - "Doesn't matter, no thanks are needed. We fought as allies"
Garrosh will invoke divine magic to detect magical auras either on the dragon or fallen giants.
Casting Detect Magic.
Nadezdha
|
Oh heck yes, all dragons have treasure. It's gotta have a cave or evil tower or something!
Wren Chavali
Wren waits as the Giants attempt to deal with the effects of her spell. "Hold on...if my plan goes well, there will only be one of the two left standing. Then we can lock it out and question it at our leisure."
Hoping one of the two confused Giants roll that they have to attack each other. Once that happens all we have to do is wait for one to be left standing.
DM Mathpro
Sorry for my disappearance, I'm back now.
The stone giants fall into chaos and start attacking each other. With the thread eliminated you now realize the sheer level of destruction that the giants have caused. There are men, women, and children strewn about in the streets, crying and either nursing injuries they sustained or cradling the bodies of their dead family members and friends. The town has been pretty much obliterated and you guesstimate that only about 40% of the towns population remains.
It takes a little while but eventually it dawns on you that the leader you guys killed was Teraktinus, the giant that was supposidly attacking sandpoint. A slight sense of accomplishment fills Skarn, Wren, and Garrosh and they realize that they have accomplished their goal but looking around at all the chaos around them that sense is only brief.
Taket
My people were right to send me here. Our shamen foresaw the giant threat and sent me here to try to help. I almost arrived too late. Bending over the dead dragon Taket continues to search it. I hp[e this wyrm carries some trinkets that will help our cause.
Skarn Hornfels
"Skin it and save the teeth I say. It can aid our cause as armor and arrow heads. Mayhap we can move the most injured together, and Garrosh can call upon his god to heal them en masse?"
Skarn points at Teraktinus, "someone should search that one there. These giants have a habit of keeping personal letters on them, else we'd not have known this attack was coming. Who knows what he may have had about his person."
Garrosh Saurfang
Garrosh will invoke divine magic to detect magical auras either on the dragon or fallen giants.
Casting Detect Magic.
I had started the search :P
Wren Chavali
Wren followed suit and also cast Detect Magic. A giant leader would clearly have valuables. She points out any that she notices to the rest of the group.
"Now that we have scuttled their immediate plans, do the rest of you think we have time to walk these people back to Sandpoint? There is nothing left for them here, and we can't very well leave them alone here with nothing."
Taket
Garrosh Saurfang wrote:I had started the search :PGarrosh will invoke divine magic to detect magical auras either on the dragon or fallen giants.

Right, but we did not get a reply so I reiterated. :)
DM Mathpro
Woops totally misplayed Teraktinus...oh well...
An amulet around the dragon's neck radiates magic but he also has several valuable non-magical rings on. Teraktinus's body lights up like a font however as his chest, two of his weapons and a ring on his finger all radiate magic. Taking the time to identify the items you find the following spoilered items. If you wish to search the stone giants you will find 6 more giant sized great clubs and about 600 gp on the giants. If you want to identify the nonmagical goods I will need apraise checks for the Warhorn, silver armband, and gold and amber ring to determine worth, and either knowledge geography or survival checks to identify where the map takes you.
Amulet of Mighty Fist +1
Ring of Protection +1
+1 Light Pick
+1 Dwarf Bane Heavy Pick
+2 Hide Armor
Ring of Teleportation
Ring of Invisability
Warhorn
Silver armband
Gold and amber ring
A map
Wren Chavali
Appraise Warhorn 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (9) + 12 = 21
Appraise silver armband 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (14) + 12 = 26
Appraise gold and amber ring 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (5) + 12 = 17
Wren points out all the magical items to the others. "It might be best to take them back to town and study them at our leisure."
Know. Geography 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (10) + 13 = 23
DM Mathpro
The warhorn is a standard warhorn and is worth about 10 gp. The silver armband is worth about 2500 gp and the ring is worth about 500. The map is a map of the surrounding area with a path traced out on it. It starts out just east of the storval stairs and then travels through the stairs, Ravenmoor, Wolf's Ear, Galduria, Ember lake, along the lost coast, and ends up in Sandpoint which is circled on the map. You're pretty sure its the route the giants took to get here and how they planned to get to Sandpoint.
Boran
Boran sets down on one of the giant corpses, propping his guisarme up within reach. "Never really been a save the day type, but this isn't exactly how I pictured it looking." he says, surveying the ruined city.
At mention of Sandpoint he chuckles darkly. "That would figure, wouldn't it? I was headed that way myself before these lugs up and killed my employer. If you lot do head that way, mind if I share the road? There's a tavern keeper there expecting a shipment, and the least I can do is tell 'er why it ain't comin'. Name's Boran, by the way."
Wren Chavali
"I was going to teleport the lot of us back, but with all these homeless folk, I think leading them back would be most advisable. I'm Wren, by the way," the mage nodded, not remembering if she had introduced herself to the newcomers or not.
Taket
Taket. claims the barbarian as he looks up from his skinning of the dragon. This is thirsty work. That tavern sounds mighty good about now.
Not sure I have ever heard of a ring of teleportation but paint me interested. :) And Taket would certainly pretend to be interested in the +1 Dwarf Bane Heavy Pick just to bug Skarn for a moment. :P
Garrosh Saurfang
"Garrosh" - the half-orc pipes in absent minded, and holding Teraktinus's head in one had as he stares toward the destroyed village.
"We must find if there are still any living leaders for this community - we can offer assistance and advice" - he shakes his head gravely - "We were just too late"
Starting to move towards where most wounded are gathered, he stops to look at the others - "Shall we?"
Skarn Hornfels
All of his gear is large though. The rings and such will resize, but that pick is probably as big as you are!
"Well, any taverns around here are likely wrecked, and we've a long haul ahead of us back to Sandpoint. We should probably have the locals pack up foodstuffs and such on wagons before we go. Skarn is my name."
Taket
Bah. Taket is BIG! :P A pick is a one handed weapon and iirc a large one handed weapon can be used by a medium creature in two hands with a -2 penalty. Right? I do not really want to use said pick and would not mind you insisting it be destroyed. Dwarves as a race are good, which in my book makes a dwarf-bane weapon evil.
