Rain Taneththir |

Variel, even if Amen doesn't wake up, Rain has already offered to carry her (with aid of Muleback cords) and fly Amen back to the ship. Flynn seemed okay with that idea.
Hearing Variel speak of the antitoxin, Rain added straight after, "I will take the other vial of antitoxin."

The papers in the basement were the ones written in infernal.
From loot list post:
Among the papers you find that many of them are encrypted or use ambiguous code words, but they nevertheless expose the identities of a widespread network of spies throughout the Shackles. The papers also detail the primary players in the spy ring—Corlan, Elliece Farhaven, Haddon Pike, and Roweena Kellet, as well as their ordered assassinations (by an imp in the case of Elliece, and by Giles Halmis in the case of the others). Dated 3 weeks ago and written in Infernal, several read, “Silence is now key. Our plans will go into full force once our agent finishes his preparations. Destroy any remaining evidence and discreetly sell your business. Report to Nisroch for your next assignment.”

DM Immortal |

heading to bed now all. Not feeling too hot. Let me know what you all want to do and we can move on. You can get Amen back to the ship without issue.
You have a bunch of information now, more than enough to report back to Tessa Fairwind.

![]() |

When Rain comes back and reports that all is searched and that Horatio is willing to let Rain carry Amen then Variel sees no further reason to stay. We have what we came here for. It should be enough to satisfy our patron but there is still one other lead to follow up on. From here we should return tot he ship and make ready to sail to the Slithering Coast. Once that task is seen to its completion then we can return and report our total findings. Does that work with everyone?
Turning to Jamba and Adistan, You are welcome to join us if you wish. It is hard dangerous work yet you won't find a better group in the Shackles to sail with.

Rain Taneththir |

The paperwork was written in Infernal for she recognised the text, but could not understand the words for she did not speak the language. She would leave them to Dhaavan or Flynn to translate after they returned to the Lady. (Although looking at Dhaavan's sheet now, it seems he doesn't have Infernal listed in languages anymore (since his reincarnation). I guess we'll rely on Flynn to translate, then).
"Works for me, Captain, responded Rain to her betrothed, still favouring her head - her eyes still not as bright and aware as before their encounter with Zarskia and her people. She also had a rattle inside her lungs from the poisonous gas.
Pulling the muleback cords from her pack, Rain wrapped them around her biceps and shoulders and then moved to the unconscious Amen and picked her up. This brings her STR to 22 and her carrying capacity is as follows: Light 173 lbs. or less, Med 174–346 lbs., Heavy 347–520 lbs. I believe Amen would fall under 'Light'. ;)
Rain turned to Neko still in her tiger form and instructed her feline companion, "Return to the ship with Variel and the others. I will meet you there," and with that she spread her silver dragon wings and took to the air with her human cargo securely in her arms and she began to fly in the direction of the harbour and the Lady. (Fly speed: 40ft. Not sure how long it will take Rain to fly with Amen in tow to the ship, so I'll let Immortal advise me on that.).
I vote we rest and get some more ability healing from Sandara etc before dealing with Tessa Fairwind and any info giving exercise etc.

Horatio Flynn |

Horatio tosses Variel the anti-toxin from the gear.
the rest of the gear we can sell if no one wants it on the way back to the ship.
He shakes his head.
"Yeah, no - we can't do that," he says.
"See, the thing is; I'm nearly dead, Amen-set is nearly dead and that's a problem."
"Everyone in the party is pretty much good now when it comes to health, give or take a pinch, thanks to the healing efforts and all - but we're kind of still in rough straits," he adds.
"If I was a little more healthy, if Amen-set was a little more healthy, then yeah, maybe - but as it stands? Maybe after we already got to the ship."
Hearing Variel speak of the antitoxin, Rain added straight after, "I will take the other vial of antitoxin."
Horatio turns a glance to Rain and tosses her one of the anti-toxin potions, then he puts the rest of the disposable gear back in a sack and closes it, then slings it over his shoulder.
Pulling the muleback cords from her pack, Rain wrapped them around her biceps and shoulders and then moved to the unconscious Amen and picked her up and with that she spread her silver dragon wings and took to the air with her human cargo securely in her arms and she began to fly in the direction of the harbour and the Lady.
Horatio watches Rain take Amen-set from him and fly off.
Again, it looks as if he would have said something, but instead he says nothing during the proceedings.
He turns back to Variel.
"As of now we got a crew dispatched to get here; when they do, they can escort us back proper."
He glances at the place thoughtfully.
"Meantime I think I want to take a torch and set fire to this place and burn it to the ground - maybe we take the head of the little whore and stick it on a spear facing the place," he adds in a casual voice, his tone completely matter-of-fact, as if whatever emotion he has about this place has been reduced to beneath hatred or pushed beyond disgust.
He glances back at Variel.
"What do you think? Sound like a plan?" he asks with a bored voice, as he moves to the head and picks it up and stares at the face absently, waiting for a response.

Adular |

"I think I best get to praying as soon as possible and restore what I can of those in need such as Poor Ramen-set and yourself, Flynn. Sandara might have a few more spells... and by the by? We need to find some wand o lesser restoration next time we make it to market. Damn leeching forces cripple us even when I have the spells ready like I did this time, and could kill us as the good marksman said. " Adular said [B]"As for planning otherwise, well, planning is why I put the captain's brains back in his head as a priority." Wryly.

![]() |

Flynn, I would hold off on burning this place to the ground. We caused enough of a problem here and drew attention so ourselves already. No sense in making more of a statement to her former employer.
As for the gear to be sold, I will take care of that on the way back with some of the lads. That way you and Amen-set can get back to the ship to recover.
Turning to Adular as he mentions the wand of lesser restoration, I will see what they have and if they have a partial one for sale.
I should have the spreadsheet updated with prices tonight and get the split out as well for everyone.

DM Immortal |

Rain, it'll take you about 10-15 minutes or so to get back to the ship.
Everyone else it'll take you about 30 on your way back once the crew gets there to escort you. After about another 5 minutes or so after Rain leaves, a group of your crew come in weapons drawn. Seeing their officers alive they refrain from asking questions until back to the ship.
Rain, you see the group arrive just as Amen-set comes back from the sleep poison she had suffered. Sandara, working quickly, stopped any more poison that may have been in her system and restored a bit of the constitution she had lost.
1d4 ⇒ 2 Amen-set regains 2 constitution.
She makes her comfortable but now that she knows that Amen is stable, she waits for the others to return before providing any other spells, limited as they are.

Rain Taneththir |

"Sandara, I thank you for using your magic to restore some of Amen's vitality. Do you have this spell prepared more than once this day? There are a handful of us quite injured internally by the apothecary's poisons."
HP 50/56 HP now with CON damage, INT damage 4, WIS damage 3, CON damage 2.

Amen-set Neitaker |

She makes her comfortable but now that she knows that Amen is stable, she waits for the others to return before providing any other spells, limited as they are.
Amen-set drags herself to her feet somewhat shakily, her eyes trying to focus as the pain feels overwhelming.
She looks around the cabin and realizes that she is now somewhere else completely.
With no knowledge of what happened in the past hour she forces herself to stand up as straight as she can to maintain her dignity despite the pain.
She looks at Rain.
"Greetings, senet," she says with a stiff voice, trying to keep herself steady.
"Can you tell me where my hatey-a' is, please? He, too, shall need healing," she asks with a polite, though strained, voice.

![]() |

Not wanting to explain too much in the city Variel simply orders the men to gather everything that was not being carried by the group. All through the town Variel kept a hand on his cutlass aiting for some unseen attacker to come fro the sahdows in retaliation for their attack on the apothecary. It was all for naught though as they made it back safe to the ship. Once there Variel goes about making ready to sell the items that they just acquired. Hopefully that goes easier than acquiring the items and he can return to the ship to set sail and escape from the city with everyone alive even if a bit worse for wear. Nothing a few goods nights sleep wouldn't cure though. Variel thought.

Horatio Flynn |

Horatio has some difficulty making it back to the ship, the pain from the fog nearly overwhelming him.
He says nothing about it, though, but contents himself to move forward.
When he returns to the ship he moves to find Amen-set.
Heading to the cabin that he believes that she is in, he vaguely hears her voice from the other side of the door.
"Can you tell me where my hatey-a' is, please? He, too, shall need healing," she asks with a polite, though strained, voice.
Hearing no response he opens the door and moves into the cabin without preamble and strides quickly to her.
"I'm alright lass," he says, moving toward her and embracing her somewhat awkwardly.
She seems greatly relieved and returns the embrace, not unlike a young girl seeing her father who had been returned to her.

Before he leaves to sell the gear and buy a wand Variel finds Rain and sees how she is doing. My dear how are you faring now that we are free from that apothecary nightmare? I ask as I am going to head back into town to make some purchases and was wondering what if anything I could find to help you out. As Adular mentioned I am going to try and find a wand to restore our abilities to us but beyond that is there anything that I can get you?

DM Immortal |

Sandara moves among you as you return, healing where she can. By the gods! What manner of beast did this to you all?!? You are lucky to be alive!
Everyone gets back 1d4 ⇒ 4 to each ability score you are down.
--------------------------------------------------
I'm sorry if I missed questions. If you would indulge me and copy them into another post that would really help me out and I will try and be more cognizant going forward.

Rain Taneththir |

Watching Flynn reunite with a now-woken Amen-set, Rain did not interrupt them and left them to their reunion.
As Rain was set to reply to Variel, she felt Sandara's touch and then rejoiced as her faculties were returned to order - the heaviness in her head and chest now lifted and gone. "Thank you, Sandara," Rain quietly acknowledged the healing as the woman passed along to heal the others. (INT, WIS and CON all restored now.)
Looking to Variel, she breathed out and smiled, "I am returned to whole within, but these wounds need attention," calling to Adular, "Adular can you gather the wounded and heal our physical wounds before we carry on?"
Rain's at 57/63 HP and needs a little healing of her physical wounds and then she'll be right as rain. ;)
As to what she might need in town, the Elven pilot shook her head, "I have no need of purchase at present - I thank you, Melamin. However, I would claim an invisibility potion from the stores, below."
From the loot list, I see there's one invisibility potion listed. Rain would like to claim it, if that's okay.

Horatio Flynn |

By the gods! What manner of beast did this to you all?!? You are lucky to be alive!
Horatio puts his hand into his satchel and drags out the head of the caster, the twisted features made more macabre as he tightens his fingers in the thick locks and lifts it up, showing her clearly.
"I guess maybe it was this type of beast," he says with a flat voice as Amen-set looks at the head with a reserved but expression of satisfaction at the act.
"Many thanks for the healing," he adds to Sandara with a more relaxed voice.
Horatio is now up to 8 Con and so is Amen-set.
"I have no need of purchase at present - I thank you, Melamin. However, I would claim an invisibility potion from the stores, below."
From the loot list, I see there's one invisibility potion listed. Rain would like to claim it, if that's okay.
Horatio turns a look at Rain as his fingers tap against his pack.
"Begging your pardon, Pilot-Major, there are no potions in the stores below," he says to her with a polite voice.
"But if you'd really like it, I guess you can have it," he adds with a friendly smile, then pulls the potion from the items he claimed and tosses it to her with a friendly wink.
He turns back to Variel.
"Personally I'd rather be burning out that gods-damned slaver pit for what they did to my Halfling mates," he adds with a brittle voice "but all things considered, I don't think we will have time right now - but I haven't forgotten; there will be a reckoning on that, never fear," he adds.

Amen-set Neitaker |

"But if you'd really like it, I guess you can have it," he adds with a friendly smile, then pulls the potion from the items he claimed and tosses it to her with a friendly wink.
Amen-set pulls herself up and gives him a somewhat stern look.
"Oh my hatey-a', with respect, thou cannot make gifts of things which are not thine," she says with quiet admonishment.
She turns to Rain.
"Begging thy pardon, senet; it is a certainty that this potion did not come from the witch who was slain in her wretched hive of scum and villainy," she says.
"Rather, it came from the store below; have we not seen it there when we descend to break bread with the other corsairs who ply our vessel? Therefore, I say unto thee; it is right that my senet should claim it before another, for she fought well at that dark house and has more than deserved it," she adds.
She looks at Rain somewhat shyly.
"My apologies, senet; please forgive the manners of my hatey-a'. No doubt our joint near death has put him out of sorts," she adds with a polite, though somewhat weary, nod of her head.

![]() |

Very well my dear. Variel gathers her in his arms and gives her a kiss. Until I return from my shopping trip, take care. I am glad to see that Sandara has made you better, much as she did to me. I won't be gone long. Perhaps you can plot a course to the Slithering Coast in the meantime.

![]() |

Horatio, if it comes to that then I will help you avenge any wrongs that were done. None of us approve of slavery but the over all goal is beyond our means at this time. You are right that time is against us. While we found evidence at the apothecary it was only after they had finished their task. The memos we found stated as much. We need to follow up the lead on the nagas of the Slithering Coast and return with as much information as quickly as we can to Tessa. While we do not have any concrete evidence of exactly who we are up against the fact remains that there is a threat out there, devil or human.

DM Immortal |

You can find a half full wand of lesser restoration for 2250 gp

Horatio Flynn |

Horatio, if it comes to that then I will help you avenge any wrongs that were done. None of us approve of slavery but the over all goal is beyond our means at this time. You are right that time is against us."
Horatio's eyes widen at the words at the offer of support.
"I'm glad you said that," he says slowly, his usual cynicism and sarcasm replaced by genuine sincerity.
"I don't think I've told you before, but you're a good person, and a good friend," he says as he reaches forward and claps the Elf warmly on the shoulder.
Amen-set seems a bit surprised by the interaction but she also seems pleased by it. Yet for now she says nothing, merely curious to see what happens next.
"While we found evidence at the apothecary it was only after they had finished their task. The memos we found stated as much. We need to follow up the lead on the nagas of the Slithering Coast and return with as much information as quickly as we can to Tessa. While we do not have any concrete evidence of exactly who we are up against the fact remains that there is a threat out there, devil or human.
Horatio thinks a moment as he digests this information.
"Well, I'll be honest with you," he says, thinking a moment "I don't really feel like doing any more work for Tessa."
He seems confused, trying to articulate what's on his mind.
"When we came together at first there was these basterds who were stepping on our throats - that whorseson Scourge and that motherless scum Plugg - they were bloody little sods and I was genuinely glad to kill them, but as much as I hated them, we had a reason to come together" he says.
"But as for this?" he says, lifting the head of the dead woman absently by the hair "I don't even remember her name, or who she was..."
He frowns, still trying to figure out how to say what's on his mind.
"You got a real enemy in the face of that Shanxia thing - I got a real enemy in the face of those slavers that assaulted my new friends, you know?"
"The thing is, I want to be fighting enemies that matter to me and us - and I'm not really keen on sailing around in circles doing work for someone else that we have no real personal connection with."
"I mean, maybe if we decided to go after that rat basterd Harrigan I'd be excited, but not as excited about sticking my knife into the windpipe of them assassins that were following you, or the whore's that did the thing on people I care about back in town, you know? But as for having to be an errand boy to someone I don't even remember clearly?"
He sighs then shakes his head.
"Anyhow, that's all I wanted to say about that," he says after a moment.
"That being the case, you're my friend; so if you want to do it I'll do help you do it. I guess I'm just not that keen on it is all, but like I said - you're my friend and I'll help you do it," he says with nod.
He turns to Amen-set, seeing that she seems better after Sandara's spell, though both of them are still fairly weak.
"Alright then, lass. Let's leave these folk to their business and head below."
"We got plenty of news to share with Piper about the stuff we found, not to mention the fact that I feel like I could use a hot meal. I'm willing to bet our boys below," he says, referencing the Halfling mercenaries and freed slaves rescued the last time they were in port "will likely be eager to have some decent grub, sing a few songs and enjoy some drinks."
He turns to the door to the cabin, then pauses and tosses a glance at Jamba.
"You seem like a lad that enjoys a good drink. You want to come and relax with us or do you want to hang around here?" he asks the man amicably.

Rain Taneththir |

Rain catches the vial Flynn tossed to her and bids him thanks. When Amen spoke her words, Rain replied quietly, "I am glad you are on your feet again, Amen, and I thank you for your words. Try to rest a little more."
Hearing Variel address her quietly again, Rain excused herself from Amen and Flynn and responded quietly to her betrothed,
"Are we still heading to the Slithering Coast? I thought we were going to report in to Tessa Fairwind in Quent first."
She then watched and listened as Variel and Flynn conversed. When Flynn mentioned the head, she simply uttered, "Zarskia Galembar of the Jasperleaf Apothecary. She provided the poisons and the bounty on the heads of the conspirators. We must report all our findings to Tessa for she is a person of power and sway as a Lord Captain and Mistress of Quent and Motaku Isle. We entered into an alliance with her and we must uphold our end or else there will be bad blood and we lose the trust and respect of a powerful ally and free captain. Perhaps once we deliver our latest findings to Quent, we will have fulfilled our bargain and be free to pursue other interests."

Horatio Flynn |

She then watched and listened as Variel and Flynn conversed. When Flynn mentioned the head, she simply uttered, "We entered into an alliance with her and we must uphold our end or else there will be bad blood and we lose the trust and respect of a powerful ally and free captain. Perhaps once we deliver our latest findings to Quent, we will have fulfilled our bargain and be free to pursue other interests."
Horatio pauses by the cabin door and glances at Rain.
"You're right; we made a deal and that means we should honor it and I got no problem with that," he says with a slow nod of assent.
"I guess I'm just hoping that we'll have the job sooner rather than later, I guess," he says with a shrug.
Turning a glance to Jamba he notes the man doesn't seem interested in heading below.
He turns to Variel -
"Well, just let me know when we're ready to sail," he says, then tips his hand to his forelock and heads out.

Amen-set Neitaker |

Rain catches the vial Flynn tossed to her and bids him thanks. When Amen spoke her words, Rain replied quietly, "I am glad you are on your feet again, Amen, and I thank you for your words. Try to rest a little more."
Amen-set looks at Rain.
"Oh my senet, it was not our fate to die this day, but whatever our destiny is, I hope we two shall meet it together with honor," she says with a smile, then bows her head in respect and follows Horatio below.

![]() |

Hearing Rain in his ear he nods at her wisdom and responds to Horatio and others nearby. Once w find the wand that Adular is looking for then we will skip the Slithering Coast nad head back to Tessa. We have enough information to pass along and this way we are under no further obligation to her. We need to honor our agreement with her and show our support to her as a pirate Lord. After that though we may be free to take on other ventures as we chose. With that Variel leaves for his shopping trip.
An hour later with gear sold and a heavy purse he hands out the wealth tot he officers and gives the wand to Adular. Turning to Rain he nods in her direction. Whenever you are ready my lady. We await your command.

Rain Taneththir |

Rain nodded her head at Amen's words before the girl and Flynn went below.
As soon as Variel returned to the ship and nodded in her direction, Rain returned the gesture and called out,
"Weigh anchor and hoist the mizzen! We sail to Quent."
Neko, now returned to her general golden cat form, sat by Rain at the Wheel. The cat leisurely licked her paws as the ship readied to leave port.
Once they were safely out of Port Peril's harbour, Rain set her sights westward, toward Quent, situated on the north coast of Motaku Isle, and the Lady moved/manoeuvred readily under her hand.
Profession, Sailor to sail to Quent: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (15) + 22 = 37

Seijiro |

Seijiro heads back to the ship with the others, staying in the background as no one seems to pay much attention to him... He's not badly hurt, just really drained of stamina...
Once back on the ship he recovers his missing constitution thanks to Sandara, to whom he bows and offers a soft "Thank you and your Goddess for the bounty of her blessing of recovery."
He sits up near Neko and Rain as the ship puts out of port. "We going back to Quent then, Rain?"

Rain Taneththir |

He sits up near Neko and Rain as the ship puts out of port. "We going back to Quent then, Rain?"
When Jiro joined her and Neko by the Wheel, Rain smiled at the Kitsune, before replying to his question. "Aye. Let us return to her isle, present her with the information we have uncovered and then decide our next port. Mayhap, even give ourselves a few days of rest before our next mission."
At this stage, I'm guessing Tessa Fairwind will be in Quent and isn't currently in Port Peril. Immortal?

Adistan Temmer |

As his new ship leaves port, Temmer permits himself a moment of relaxation, the dark cloud that looms over him seeming to fade for the briefest of moments.
The smell of brine in his nose and the cool whip of the wind and spray against his skin, he joins in with the rest of the crew to make sure the voyage is without trouble.

Seijiro |

"I look forward to going back to Quent.. having a few days there would be heaven. But even just a day would be a joy after this journey. Let me know if you need a break.. I imagine you and Variel would want some time together, even just to enjoy dinner together or something. In the meantime, mind if Tomo and I hang out here a bit? I don't think I could take being cooped up in my quarters right now."

Rain Taneththir |

Rain's eyes moved briefly to Variel upon Jiro's words and the pilot gave a quiet smile. "You may take the wheel in an hour or two, Jiro. (Immortal, what time is it in game currently? And how long until we reach Quent?) Variel and I can eat and rest a little then, thank you. And aye, I'd enjoy the company," she added in regard to Jiro and Tomo remaining by the Wheel and keeping her and Neko company in the meantime.

Seijiro |

"Okay.. "He pauses to smile and relax a bit as Tomo grooms his hair.
"I'm glad we got Dhaavan back.. I was really worried about him... and we've met some new friends too in the bargain. Adistan seem nice, but very reserved. I hope we get to know him better as we sail. Jamba scares me a little... He seems to know things the rest of us don't. He must have The Sight. And it's hard for me to understand him. I am guessing I will get more adept at it as we sail and get to know him. It's not so much that he has an accent, I think we all do, no one speaks common the same here I think. But he talks like the spirits speak through him." He shrugs in his characteristic fashion, then changes the subject again...
"Do... do you think Uda.. I mean Selenia... will remember me at all when we get back? Will she want to see me again? It would hurt - a lot - if she doesn't. I might even rethink going back to sea again if she turned me away... or maybe go to sea and never set foot on land again." His voice catches as he speaks about his lady.

Variel hands the wand of lesser restoration to Adular for safe keeping but not before he sees that it is used on Flynn and Amen-set first.
Flynn con 1d4 ⇒ 3
Amen-set con 1d4 ⇒ 4
Not sure how much is needed but that should get you back up a ways with the 4 provided by Sandara as well.
Hearing Jiro ask Rain about her needing some relief Variel catches Rain's eye as she looks at him and he gives her a broad smile in return. A quiet meal and a chance for some relaxation would do them wonders. Even a stroll on the deck together away from the focus of ship's duties is a nice reprieve. The ship was in capable hands with Jiro at the helm. May as well enjoy the moments while they could.

Horatio Flynn |

Variel hands the wand of lesser restoration to Adular for safe keeping but not before he sees that it is used on Flynn and Amen-set first.
"Many thanks," Horatio says as he tips his hand to his forelock and Amen-set bows in respect.

Horatio Flynn |

It is about 2 days to Quent at your speed. You will arrive without incident. Once there what are your plans?
As the company has arrived in Quent Horatio moves to speak to Variel.
"Well, we're here - finally," he says as he stares at the port with a bland expression, as if the mission was still wearing on him, then his eyes turn to the Elf.
In his hands is the sack that holds the gear that he had claimed from the alchemist.
He hefts the bag casually.
"If you want to share these things then I got no problem with that, but I kinda wanted the fire stuff when we found the gear on account of Amen-set," he says with a nod at his ward, knowing that fire is how she normally likes to fight.
"I mean, don't get me wrong, I got no problem with sharing, but all I was hoping for was to talk about it openly as I kind of was interested in them from the get-go."
"But it's fine. I just figured that as we're shipmates and friends there's nothing wrong with talking," he adds, then reaches in the bag and pulls out the two Alchemists fires Variel had asked for earlier and hands them over with a shrug.
"That being the case, I think we may want to hold off buying and selling much until after we see the mistress of this place. She owes us for doing work for her - at the least she can do is order her merchants to give us some decent discounts on stuff," he says with a grin.
"Once we're done with that hash with her, you got any notion on where you want to sail next?" he asks as he picks up an apple from his pouch and casually takes a bite out of it.

Rain Taneththir |

On trip to Quent
Hearing Jiro ask Rain about her needing some relief Variel catches Rain's eye as she looks at him and he gives her a broad smile in return.
Rain caught Variel's smile and inclined her head before returning to the conversation at hand.
"Adistan seem nice, but very reserved. I hope we get to know him better as we sail. Jamba scares me a little... He seems to know things the rest of us don't. He must have The Sight. And it's hard for me to understand him."
"I fought alongside Jamba back at the apothecary. He had my and Variel's back as we fought the Manticore and Kamadan. Strange, but good in a fight. In time, his way of speaking will be easier on the ear. As to Adistan - I have not spoken with him - so he remains unknown to me apart from his first introduction."
"Do... do you think Uda.. I mean Selenia... will remember me at all when we get back? Will she want to see me again?"
She wondered at the swift and deep attachment Jiro had formed with the Calistrian acolyte. Has he given his heart to the female kitsune? Was he expecting a future with her? The thoughts remained private as it was not her place to speak to him of such things.
"It is their way to remember those who have entered their temples. You have given her gifts, aye? I am certain she will remember you, Jiro. As to what you would do if she turns you away, remember she is in service to her god and the temple and her life may not be her own to do as she pleases. It may hurt for a time but you will recover and you will not have to do something drastic as never set foot on land, again. There will be other loves, if this one runs its course. Do not fret so." Rain tried to be gentle in her words, but gentleness was not always her way. She didn't want Jiro losing himself or his happiness if Selenia did not see him as anything more than a patron (or could not because of duty).

Current time
Prof. Sailor: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (14) + 22 = 36
Rain deftly manoeuvred the Lady into Quent's harbour and docked the ship, calling out "Cast anchor!". She secured the Wheel and waited until all were ready to disembark and head to Tessa Fairwind's estate.
Immortal, since we've travelled two days getting to Quent, does that mean we're levelled now? If so, I will need to update my sheet.
"It is best we see the Mistress of this city and isle sooner than later. I am certain Tessa's people have already spied our colours as we came into port and have sent word to her." As to Flynn's question as to where they would sail to next, that wasn't certain - not until after they delivered their information to Tessa and heard what she had to say. Variel was still troubled over the Shanxia connection and Jiro yearned to be reunited with Selenia. Perhaps they could stay in port a day or two. The rest, they could decide after the meeting.
When they were all assembled on the dock and the dockmaster was paid his fee, Rain looked about for anything noteworthy, out of place, interesting etc.

Don't worry about it Horatio. Amen and you have them so it is not a problem. Keep them for now but put them to good use. AS long as they benefit the group then I am ok with it. I just want to make sure they are used by those that need them.
Contemplating their actions in Quent Variel hears Rain answer Horatio. Indeed we must see Tessa first and depending on how that goes we will have other options available to us. Once we know more then we can decide to go our own way or if it is profitable to continue working with Tessa.
I see you are weary of the last few days. Why not take a day or two to relax and recuperate. There are other means of relaxation other than the temple.
Turning to Rain, You are right that we should have been spotted and Tessa alerted to our approach yet it seems that it would be proper to send word to her of our arrival and request a meeting with her. It never hurts to be careful in dealings with pirate lords after all.
Finding an errand boy Variel gives him a message to carry to Tessa's estate. Now that is taken care of should we wait here or is there anything you want to do in port? I have it in mind to head tot eh market and pick up some supplies for Dhaavan to work with in his spare time.

He nods.
"Aye! Amen-set's eager to fight, that much I know. But she's not a heavy hitter like the rest of us, generally. Alchemical fire doesn't need much aim or accuracy, and it spreads when it hits, and that's handy."
"Plus, she doesn't seem too troubled by fire, nor getting burned..." he adds with a thoughtful glance at her, wondering again at the orphan girl's heritage.
"But one thing to remember; if we need more of it, I can make it for us, no worries," he adds, confident that his own skill at crafting alchemical items could be useful.

Horatio lets out a grim laugh at the words.
"Well I sure as hell don't mind getting paid, that's for damn sure."
"As for the rest, I guess I got no problem with hearing her proposals before making up our minds."
I see you are weary of the last few days. Why not take a day or two to relax and recuperate. There are other means of relaxation other than the temple.
He grim enthusiasm mellows as he considers options.
"Easier said then done," he says with a grunt "I'd not mind a little recreationing, that's true - but only if it's "proper" relaxifying, if you take my meaning?" he says with a roll of his eyes.
"It seems that my young ward ain't particularly fond of me indulging in certain leisurely activities, at least, so she's indicated. She doesn't care for me partaking in hard drinking, and no whoring, hell - she even has a problem with my language, by gods," he says with snort "I mean, I even kept the thing with the alchemical fire quiet around her so I wouldn't have to hear her carrying on about me keeping more than my "fair due" or some hash like that," he adds, shaking his head ruefully, then he sighs.
"Still, she's young - well, young-ish, I guess; so for now I'm trying to humor her. But damned if she don't make life more complicated sometimes."
He notices Variel chatting with Rain for a moment and turns to study the harbor, his eyes watching the sky and checking the weather unconsciously.

His eyes flick back to Variel.
"I got a few notions on what to do - but I like your earlier plan of meeting with Tessa directly first."
"Who knows who she'll want to speak to when we meet her? That said, better that we're all here - and I guess that would apply to the new lads we found. They might have useful intel to share with her as they were in the same fix that Dhaavan was in - who knows; maybe she'd pay us more for that information?" he says with a shrug.
"Besides, if we're loitering here for a spell then we'll have plenty of time to do what needs getting done after chatting with her. And if she's going to give us a reward for what we did, I'd rather know that before shopping rather than after shopping," he says with a grin.

"Well, there was an object I commisioned from a wood carver so to make apology for my being a complete ass earlier... but that's my problem to fix." The Cleric seems apologetic.
Amen-set eases her dagger forward on her hip and then takes her musket and checks the priming absently as she moves to the others.
Satisfied in its condition, she slings the musket over her shoulder then studies Adular thoughtfully.
"Thou art a goodly man, priest; and I thank thee again for thy help in the cursed house of that foul witch," she says with a polite nod and reassuring smile.
