Dungeon Master

Sharp is the operative word here! As Mantooth picks up one of the razorfiend eggs, he finds it warm to touch, with a leathery texture and tiny sharp scales that cause painful cuts (1 hp of damage) to his bare hands. Although, the act of destroying the egg is messy affair, with minced razorfiend yolk and goo splashing everywhere, it is easily done with a strong blade (a standard action).

1 hp of damage to both Mantooth and Thordak, but two eggs destroyed. 21 eggs remaining.

Male Gnome Sorcerer/9 - (HP: 49/49 - AC20;FF17;T18 - F+5;R+6;W+7 - Init+9 - Per+11)

One by one, Tirion moves the eggs with his mage hand up onto the deck where they can be destroyed.

Try to avoid touching them unless you use the gauntlets as they definitely are a nasty affair. And we have all seen what they become.

I also try using Ray of Frost on one of the eggs in the water, casting it a few times to see whether that solves the problem.

Damage: 4d3 ⇒ (2, 2, 3, 3) = 10 <-- 1d3/casting.

If this works, I will keep doing it until they are all frozen/destroyed.

Dungeon Master

Using Tirion's Mage Hand to lay eggs on the boardwalk, Thordak and Mantooth are easily able to destroy the eggs without the need for touching them. Within fifteen minutes, all of the known twenty three eggs are destroyed.

Before I destroy all of the eggs, please tell me, were you saving one?

Bofus won't advocate for saving an egg, but won't argue against it (as long as *I* don't have to carry it!!). Up to you, Tirion, if you want one!

Can we take a look under the water, make sure we got all of 'em?

I do not have much, but this might help.

I cast Dancing Lights and place them down in the dark water to lighten up the area. I then move them around so that the whole area can be searched.

Tirion looks at the others: Don't worry about the dwarf. I am sure that he has all kinds of things besides his two little black gems hidden behind that beard.

Dungeon Master

Thordak, let's do two more swim checks (DC 12) to swim down (its only about ten feet deep). Next, let's do five perception checks while you are down there and then one swim check to get you back up to the surface.

Dungeon Master

Thordak dives down into the razorspawn pool and searches for more eggs. After an intensive search, he finds five more eggs which he pries off of the floor with a dagger. With Tirion's use of mage hand and Mantooth's sword Magnimarana, you believe all the eggs are destroyed at last!

Yes, the horde and their vermin wyrm companions must be stopped. This was but one of several legs that they stand on. We now must head back south to find make sure that Brindol is protected and then I believe we will have to find this Ghostlord and make sure that he is not helping the horde.

Tirion will follow Bofus casting Detect Magic and scanning as wide an area as possible to see whether there is anything else to be found.

Should we go south or make fer Brindol? Do we know how long it'll be before tha horde reaches 'em?

Dungeon Master

Bofus searches Regiarix's lair carefully, looking for anything hidden that may be of value. As the halfling searches, he comes across a loose rock in the wall. Upon removing it, he finds a small crevice that holds a well worn but valuable looking silver brooch with a family crest of an eagle upon it.

Knowledge, Nobility DC 15:
The brooch appears have the Jarmaath family crest upon it.

Knowledge, Nobility DC 20:
The Jarmaath family crest actualy appears to be an older version, one from before the time that Lord Kerden Jarmaath was High Lord of Brindol.

Dungeon Master

Most of the remaining ruins of the old city of Rhest are stone. However, the boardwalk and the razorfiend pens were relatively new wooden structures. After you've gathered up the last of Regiarix's treasure, Bofus and Edvard begin trying to burn down the boardwalk surrounding the old Rhestilar Town Hall as well as the Razorfiend Pen. Although it takes a while to get the wet wood to light, it eventually starts to smolder and a thin plume of gray smoke drifts up into the air. You proceed to board the elven boats with your loaded treasure.

Dragonturds!

Dungeon Master

Riding across the lake in your Luvatars, the boats glide quickly across the quiet lake. Paddling your way back is uneventful as you pass by the deserted Lizardfolk hut. After paddling upstream for a while, you soon reach the dock where several elves help you pull the boats out of the water.

The familiar face of the serious strong elven hunter, Killiar Arrowswift, greets you with a look relief as you climb out of your boats.

"Welcome back, elf friends! We heard the bell, we saw the black dragon, and later we spotted the smoke. We were greatly concerned for your safety. I am pleased to see Trellara safely returned. Are the rest of you all fine? Are any of you in need of healing?"

Female Elf Bard 5 (hp: 32/32, AC: 18, FF 16, T 13)

"Greetings, Killiar! These adventurers were amazing! They fought ettins and ogres, a mindbender, the wyrmlord, and his dragon! They fought with remarkable courage and will be heroes of this village for many years to come. We will never forget what they have done for us!"

"You honor us, friends. Welcome back! Speaker Starsinger will wish to hear all the stories of your adventure. When you are ready, please come with me."

Edvard is wary on the return journey, but his concern is wasted as the group does not encounter any foes. As they pull into the dock, he draws in his focus upon the pumice stone within his pocket and chooses to disembark via the air. He does not yet spend words upon the other elves, expecting that one of his newfound companions with a more flowery tongue might better serve their purpose.

Aye, that worked out better'n Oi could've hoped!

Thordak finds Lulu and gives her a quick embrace and some corn.
All right lass?

Speaker of the Tiri Kitor

Killiar Arrowswift takes out a sleek silver horn of sorts and blows one wailing note similar to a loon's cry. He then leads you up the path back to Starsong Hill and then up another path to the three large trees that stand at the high point of the village. He then leads you into the elves' town hall, a structure that glows softly with a luminescence of its own.

"I, Sellyria Starsinger, am delighted to see you returned to the hall of my ancestors. I am pleased to see you all here, especially you, Sister Trellara! Tell me, was your quest successful?" Sellyria looks down and gives Bofus Beerswizzler a quick glance and then she turns to look at all of you and hear your responses.

"Give me a tale and let me know of your deeds!"

Well, there is not much to tell. We found a secure point in one of the flooded buildings from which to scout and watch the horde. Our stealthy scout determined which building was the home of the reptile and his goblin keeper. We waited until the dragon left to hunt or scout. There was an ettin guardian out front. A combination of a lucky spell and the good dwarf's mastery of his crossbow brought the nightmare giant down without raising any warning. We then paddled to the old town hall where the monsters had taken up residence.

There we met a few more ettins and ogres which the Thordak and the paladin Mantooth dispatched with ease while Bofus harassed them from behind. You brave warrior Trellara provided brilliant elvish music that lifted out souls, even the dwarfs. At the same time, Edvard and I used our arcane talents to limit the giants' ability to harm us.

From there, we entered their compound and found the goblin archer. He was able to fire a few shots at us, but the paladin, halfling and dwarf closed on him forcing him to resort to a small sword. He attempted to escape, but Thordak's sharp eyed shots stopped the little vermin. Tirion practically spits as he describes the horrid green monstrosity.

Then we were assaulted by a magical assault from a bizarre twisted goblin sorcerer. He sought to use his mind bending powers to force me to open a pen full of dragon spawn. Fortunately I was able to withstand the assault before any harm befell me of my companions.

While I was being rescued, the sharp eyed paladin determined that the evil horror was there and together with assistance from the good witch, managed to stop the creature. Even after being caught, he tried to use his silvered tongue to twist the truth and secure his freedom. He even tried to bend the dwarf's mind. Unfortunately for the little creep, Thordak is as tough in the mind as he is in the body. Having a hated goblin try to twist your mind is not a good way of making friends with a dwarf. Lets just say that the twisted monster did not survive much longer.

Finally, we ventured into the room used by the black dragon. Once there we set up in hope of surprising the reptile. Unfortunately, even with our best attempts, he surprised most of us. Only luck had it that it was the good dwarf before him when he surfaced from the black depths of the lake, as Thordak is resistant to the dragon's acid.

We were all concerned with how the battle would ensue. Fortunately for us, the dragon's pride was such that he faced us on the ground in his lair rather than waiting to strike us from the air. As such, the good paladin was able to call on the blessing from Iomedae which gave his blade great power. I have never seen a warrior deliver such damage as Mantooth did. It was over almost faster than I could believe. Mantooth's blade was like a holy ray as it carved through the dragon's hide and severed scales. Then, the dragon fell and sank into the depths of the water. We waited and then Thordak bravely dove down and confirmed that the dragon was no more. Never again will that monster trouble your good village.

Finally, we went to the enclosure where those dragon spawn horrors were being raised. One of the dragon spawn managed to surprise Mantooth, but we quickly recovered and after a tough battle managed to slay all the dragonspawn. We then searched the enclosure destroying more than thirty unhatched eggs and all the dragonspawn hatchlings.

And, that is what we have spent our day doing. Now, we hope that we are able to have a safe night's rest here before we set forth again to the south to make sure that this horde is stopped.

Speaker of the Tiri Kitor

Sellyria listens with great interest as the story is told. Her eyes gaze upon each of you in turn as events are recalled and a smile comes to her face. When the tale is at last completed, she stands up and declares,"You are indeed Heroes and trusted friends of the Tiri Kitor! We cannot thank you enough! We shall tell stories of your deeds for many generations to come. Please know that you will be welcomed to Starsong Hill as long as you may live."

Sellyria gives a lyrical whistle and immediately one of her assistants comes to her side.

"Let us prepare a grand feast to honor our heroes and to celebrate the historic events of today! The Wyrmlord and his dragon have been slain and the Blackfens are now free of the Red Hand! Let us celebrate into the night!"

Turning back to each of you, Sellyria remarks, "I must confess that I did not think this possible. However, thanks to you, the Tiri Kitor are once again free to fly the winds and live in peace here in our own homeland. You have my gratitude and the gratitude of all my people! Thank you!"

Dungeon Master

You are brought back to your guest quarters where you are given warm water for bathing and fruit and berries to snack upon. Later in the evening as you begin to feel refreshed from your adventures, you are brought into a great hall. Wreaths of flowers and twigs are laid upon your heads and you are escorted to the front of the room where the entire tribe of the Tiri Kitor all greet you enthusiastically.

The evening passes as a grand feast of exquisite delicious foods are laid on the table before you. Songs are sung in your honor and the music is played throughout the evening. Elven wine flows abundantly and there is great joy and cheer had by all!

Dungeon Master

Bofus:

Do not spent countless hours checking the thread in detail. Sellyria simply feels gratitude for what you have done particularly since you were an important advocate for Trellara and she was personally entrusting Trellara's life to you.

Female Elven Lover of Bofus the Brave

While Bofus enjoys the attention given to him by all the elves, he particularly enjoys that given by a young elf maiden named Elyrial who asks him a few particular questions. "Are you the one they call Bofus the Brave? I heard that you were so quiet that you were able to sneak up on a black dragon and stab it before it even knew you were there. I have not known any creatures other than elves to be quite so subtle! How did you do it? Can you give me a demonstration, my dear Bofus?
