Rufa at L6 works, the table propped up to act as a barrier between me and the doorway. Hopefully it's strong enough to take a lightning bolt or some spikes.
Silvanius |
Wanted to drop a line to wish you all a Happy New Year!! Today and tomorrow posting will not come easy, and next weekend the family is going on a snow trip, but I'm still around. Posting will be sparse though, until next Sunday.
Enjoy the holiday everyone!
Reill |
happy new year! Let's hope a manticore doesn't almost kill us in this one!
Reill |
So... do we know about that square out there that says 'minotaur'? Should we be worried about that?
Reill |
Ah, I missed the round 16 up there, I was just curious about how I was going to die ;p
Rufa Damnatio |
Mine says 'Painfully and Messy'. Didn't even know they included a result like that.
Rufa Damnatio |
Letting everyone know my boss is in town this week (surprise, surprise!) and it looks like I'll be working some pretty long days all week. I'll try to get posts in when I can, but will be tough. I apologize for the short notice I also suffered from. Please bot me in combat.
Rufa Damnatio |
Sorry about my disappearance. Back now and catching up.
Borrum Orcbane |
I guess heal back up while Silvanius communes with Hextor.
Then head back up to the Fortress, use stealth were we can and Obsuring Mist once we get inside/there.
The Mist will reduce the attacks from charging with the Minotaur, ranged attacks from the Manticore, and ranged spells from the Hobgoblin.
We need to focus our attacks on one target as much as possible, which I think will end up being the Minotaur.
What say everyone else?
Rufa Damnatio |
Grrr! I know I posted round 1.
Reill |
Sorry, Borrum. As much as I would have loved to use that charge on you, it just seems a stretch to me that I would be able to just run to you and cure you, what with you being on the other side of the tower and the fog. I mean, I can understand have a general idea of where your voice came from but... yeah. The bat was right there ;x
Reill |
If I think you are thinking what I think Rufa is thinking, that I think it is going to be awesome.
Rufa Damnatio |
What I wouldn't give for a scroll of fireball right now! I don't care if it's not the most optimal spell in this case, it would just feel right.
Borrum Orcbane |
Awesome!!!
@DM Greg: Was looking through the Races of Stone book and wanted to ask, incase we lived through this fight.
Would you consider adding the Dwarven Warpike and Dwarven Buckler-Axe to the list of axe type weapons that is part of the Axe Focus (Ex) abilty for dwarven fighters.
A dwarven fighter who take the 1st-level racial substitution level focuses his combat talents on axe-fighting. He gains a +1 bonus on attack rolls with the following weapons: battleaxe, dwarven waraxe, greatace, handaxe, throwing axe, and the axe head of a dwarven urgrosh. (At the DM's option, this bonus might also applu to the new axe-related weapons featured in Chapter 7.)
This bonus does not stack with the bonus from Weapon Focus, but it is treated as the equivalen for Weapon Focus for the purpose of qualifing for feats, prestige classes, and anything else that requires that feat. For example, a dwarf fighter with this abilty could take Weapon Specialization (battleaxe) without selecting Weapon Focus (battleaxe)as a separate feat.
This benefit replaces the bonus feat gained by a standard 1st-level fighter.
=========================================================
The dwarven warpike resembles a halberd with a greatly elongated shaft, to the end of which a counterweight has been added. A dwarven warpike has reach. You can strike opponents 10 feet awat with it, but you can't use it against an adjacent foe.
Normally, you strike with the a dwarven warpike's axe head, but the spike on the end is useful against charging oppenents. If you use a ready action to set a dwarven warpike against a charge, you deal double damage on a successful hit against the charging character.
You can use the hook on the back of a dwarven warpike to make trip attacks. If you are tripped during your own trip attempt, you can drop the dwarven warpike to avoid being tripped.
Exotic Weapon(would be Martial Weapon for a Dwarf), two-handed melee weapon - 45gp - Dmg(M) 2d6, Dmg(L) 3d6 - Crit x3 - Slashing or Piercing
=========================================================
At first glance, a dwarvem buckler-axe appears similar to a standard buckler, but this weapon has enlarged bladelike edges at it's top and bottom, allowing the wielder to swing it like an axe. Thus, in addition to it's obvious protective qualities, it proves a capable off-hand weapon or emergency weapon when disarmed.
A dwarven buckler-axe grants it's wielder a +1 shield bonus to Armor Class. As with any shield, when you attack with a dwarven buckler-axe, you do not get the shield bonus to your AC.
A buckler-axe also provides a -1 armor check penalty and a 5% arcane spell failure chance. Like a spiked shield, a buckler-ax can be enhanced as a weapon, as a shield, or both, but such enhancements must be paid for and applied separately.
Exotic Weapon(would be Martial Weapon for a Dwarf),Light Melee Weapon- 20gp - Dmg(M) 1d6, Dmg(L) 1d8 - Crit x3 - Slashing

Well the Manticore might not be able to follow us into the tower.... We can go that way if that is what ppl want?
The Dire Bat can hide out in the fog for a couple of rounds while we clear it inside the tower.
Any other ideas from anyone?
Rufa Damnatio |
The tower does seem the best idea at the moment. I can't really think of any other ideas myself at the moment.
DM Greg |
Hello to all.
i will be away for a mountain vacation until the 31 with Zero internet connection.
Please Bot me as appropriate.
I will be available today if you have a question tough.
----
I will Both you if you haven't acted by tonight.
Combat is pretty much over. the only question is does the hobgoblin gets to flee (his action next round) or do you manage to kill him just before.
Borrum Orcbane |
Damn stinky giants... always leaving thier cloths around. Just like little kids.
Just want to verify your interpetation of the spell Enlarge Person, DM Greg.
If a person, under the effects of Enlarge Person, picks up an item that items does not also enlarge, as it was not on the person at the time of casting.
i.e. Borrum has large sized throwing axes and he drops them from his gear prior to having the spell Enlarge Person cast on him. When he picks up the large sized throwing axes they remain size large and when he throws them they remain size large.
The feats to use the larger size weapons would be
Monkey Grip
Wield Oversized Weapon (FYI, Base Attack +21, so not gonna get this feat soon.)

When we have time, I can attempt to identify the staff. Need to find out if it takes 100gp pearls or not, can't remember anymore about 3.5 on that one.
Also it'll take me some time to level up. Third level magic though!! So who wants Haste?
