After Dimorph 2
Double move toward the battle. distance 2 moves
To repeat the question, Knowledge nature 10 was enough to identify the Dimorphs?
Falix and Harbek seem perfectly capable to deal with the problem, but it is a good idea to get to them. There could be other flying lizards."

Dino Eggs - Round 2 - continued
Know Nature DC 10 is not enough. They are not a normal animal. The DC was, unfortunately, 11.
Chikura arrives on the scene of the fight. He has seen these creatures i the Mwangi Expanse before, and knows them to be Dimorphodon often known as the "fangbird" or "vampire lizard". They are a type of carnivorous flying dinosaur, and their bites are poisonous. They are known to be easy to train and are sometimes kept as pets or guardians by distant tribesmen.
St John can't quite see the scene, but calls out encouragement to his shipmates knowing he is close by.
Felix stabs at the quick flying bird once again, but is unable to score a hit.
Continuing to dive and snap at Felix for disturbing the nest, the remaining dimorphodon slips over about 5' and then readies a big bite. The teeth close on the edge of the archaeologist's tunic, ripping it a bit, but fail to pierce his flesh.
Mikail continues to fight his way through the thick jungle undergrowth as he makes his way to the sound of the fight. Celine also fights her way through the dense foliage.
Need an action from Harbek to end the round.
Dimorph 2 bite: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14

Actually I am at 0 range, I copy pasted the "double move part" and didn't moved down the counter. With several characters already in range I won't think it will make a real difference.

Dino Eggs - Round 3 - continued
Chikura recognizes the flying creature and the danger it presents to his new allies. As such, he casts his spell that grants greater fortitude against poisons and other hazards and imbues it upon Felix.
Stomping through the high elephant grass, St John appears on the field in a position to aid in attacks even if he a bit winded to make an attack himself.
With the resistant magic flowing through him, and a flank offered by the duelist, Felix is finally able to skewer the dimorphodon on the end of his harpooning spear. The wound is severe but not fatal to the lizard-bird.
Shrugging itself off the spear, the dying dimorphodon makes one last snap at Felix. This time the vampire bird is able to sink its fangs in the hero wounding him deeply for 9 hp.
[ooc]Felix also needs a Fort save vs poison. Remember resistance gives you a bonus here as well.[ Mikail, Harbek and Celine are left to act this round./ooc]
Dimorph Bite: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
Dmg, Felix: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Harbek Toruun
Harbek steps up to the lizard-bird and swings his axe in a wide arc.
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Slashing dmg : 1d12 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
" Get off 'im! "
Mikail Ruben
Still waiting to know if my Knowledge check worked.
Mikail draw his rapier and attack the creature while trying to find a good fighting position.
attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Mikail--I think DM DE answered your question several posts ago, to the effect that you'd heard stories about flying dinosaurs but no specifics.
Damed azure text, sometime I miss it.
Celine Moonveil
Celine moves in range and casts Bless to help her fighting companions:
"May the Sacred Veil watch upon you and guide your hands!"
+1 morale bonus on attack rolls and on saving throws against fear effects - Range 50 ft. - Area The caster and all allies within a 50-ft. burst, centered on the caster - Duration 1 min./level

Dino Eggs - Round 3 - concluded
Harbek and Mikail both flail at the remaining vampire bird but neither can make solid contact. Seeing their distress, Celine calls upon her moon goddess to guide her allies hands in future attacks.
End of Round 3
Failing the poison save causes Felix to take 2 STR dmg. He needs another save this round or face more STR damage.
Str Dmg: 1d2 ⇒ 2

Dino Eggs - Round 4 - concluded
Chikura taps St John once again, providing a bit more resistance for the duelist become poisoned.
Now quite angry and a bit weakened, Felix overcomes the poison and stabs upward at the attacking dinosaur, at the same time St John finally lands the master stroke he has practiced a thousand times before. The combined effect of their blows downs the lizard, ending the fight.
Killing the two dimorphodons earns the party 133xp per player. This should move the cumulative total to 434/2000 or 22% to level 2.
DM DoctorEvil
Sure enough, as the party untangles from the fight with the parent-guardians, the nest holds two rather large eggs. There is no telling how long they have lain there or when they might hatch, if at all, but the eggs are now easy pickings with the parents both out of commission.
If I recall correctly, we had already done the hunting/gathering for this day's efforts before the fight broke out. You had collected 30 man/days of food. What is the plan next?
St. John Smythe
"That looks more like scrambled eggs to me" says St. John pointing to the eggs. "Does anyone know if the parents are edible and do they taste like chicken?"
Once the food is gathered and back in camp, "So, are we going to go past the ship or should we head up the coast the other way and see what we find?"
Mikail Ruben
"They are poisonous, right? We should be careful, removing the poison sacks before we cook them. Cooking destroy most injected poison, but it is best to stay on the safe side.
I think we should bring everything to the camp."
Mikail weigh the eggs.
"I am not an expert, but I think that if the eggs aren't freshly deposed you can't make scrambled eggs. Honestly I don't want to eat a half growth chick. Any idea?"
Chikura Mutota
"If one hatches soon, I will try to train it." Chikura grins. "It would be much smaller than the creatures I worked with as a child, but the principles are the same. "

Careful to avoid the poison, the group brings back the dead lizards and the unhatched eggs to the main camp. They also bring 30 ration/days of food for the stores, building a bit of safety net for the castaways.
Jask gives a report that very little occurred at camp while the group was hunting. Ishirou and Gelik seem stoic but pleased that more food has been found.

With his Knowledge (Nature) check result, does Chikura know of anything specific that has to be done to incubate the eggs, and whether there's a way to tell how far along they are?
And Sasha piped up while I was writing that.
The Zenj nods as he hands them over. "Yes, these are dimorphodon eggs. The hatchlings are easy to train, I have heard."

With his Knowledge (Nature) check result, does Chikura know of anything specific that has to be done to incubate the eggs, and whether there's a way to tell how far along they are?
That check was to identify the birds, make another to see about caring for the eggs. Sasha may help or aid another.
Mikail Ruben
Mikail listen with interest to the discussion about incubating the eggs andraising the dimorphodon.
"I have no experience in raising young dinosaurs, but if you need an hand I am willing to help."
DM DoctorEvil
Chikura estimates the eggs are carrying baby lizards, and they could hatch anytime. Keeping them warm (not hot), and safe is a priority if they were to actually hatch.
Sasha understands this and takes the eggs carefully and tucks them into a blanket which he fastens into a sort of sling which she wraps around her shoulder and hip, holding the eggs fast against her warm body.
At night, the girl lays down beside the eggs keeping them warm and whispering to them softly. It's all quite strange for someone who has been so disengaged for the past several days.
Chikura Mutota
If it keeps her mind on our predicament, saving the eggs will have been worth it. At the next opportunity, the Zenj will murmur an aside to Mikail. "Sasha is taking a great interest in the eggs--perhaps you can talk to her about it? I do not have your way with words."
