Kali Starr

Works for me. Accepting Rage Song
Kali makes her way over to the degenerate serpentfolk and attempts a sneak attack with her wakizashi.
+1 Adamantine Wakizashi + Flank: 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 9 + 2 = 14
Damage + Precision Damage: 1d6 + 2d6 ⇒ (1) + (3, 5) = 9

Serpentfolk-
Kali tries really hard to miss the serpentfolk, but fails due to its pinned state. I think you forgot to count the STR damage on your roll to hit.
Asvald and Senja can act!
Serpentfolk: AC 18-5 T 11-5 FF 17-4 CMD 21 HP -20
Asvald Bjornson
|
Asvald reels up his rope and moves around to help Eva hold down the snakeman.
Stow item and move.
Senja Kala
|
Senja's crackling cloud continues to zap the serpentfolk! At the same time, he conjures a large disk of shadow, which floats over the serpentfolk's head, darkening his outlook on life!
Misfortune Hex, DC 18 Will to resist.
Zap!: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 1) = 6 A mighty roll indeed! DC 18 Reflex to negate.
| DM Carbide |
The serpentfolk fails all the saves, and also fails to break free due to the hex!
I'm calling it now. You easily defeat the pinned and hexed serpentfolk.
DC 18 Reflex save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Break free: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26
Break free: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18
The only treasure present is the serpentfolk's masterwork heavy mace.
| DM Carbide |
No, she's done with those. She took a lot of STR damage, though.
Asvald Bjornson
|
Kali are you good to soldier on? I don't know that we have access to any lesser restorations.
Kali Starr
|
Kali is using Weapon Finesse on her wakizashi attack which uses Dex instead of Str. I don't believe the negative Str modifier needs to be added in in that situation.
We're probably good for another room, Kali still has 1 first level spell and 4 Scorching Rays available, none of which will need Strength. Another dose of poison though and she'll definitely need to rest and/or buy a lesser restoration potion.
Asvald Bjornson
|
After making sure their returned ninja was in fighting shape still, Asvald leads the way forward. Looks like west.
"So where did you go Kali? I don't suppose you cleared out everything else ahead of us..."
Kali Starr
|
"It just teleported me to that spiral hallway maze-like thing. I figured it was a trap so I ran through it and found those two serpentfolk in the next room. Since I was by myself, I tried to bottleneck them in the hallway, but I guess they were just trying to trick me into staying in the trapped area. They were hard to hit with their magic defenses that also protected them from sneak attack, so it was taking awhile before you guys showed up. Luckily, they don't hit very hard, but they are full of poison." Kali explains as the group moves along.
| DM Carbide |
Listening at the door, you hear nothing, and it opens to reveal a short hallway leading north. It terminates in a hall running east and west, and on the north wall of the "T" is carved the image of a coiled serpent. From the "T", the east branch leads down a short flight of stairs, while the west branch continues for some distance with a branch north near the "T".
Eva Baldursdóttir

From the "T", the east branch leads down a short flight of stairs, while the east branch continues for some distance with a branch north near the "T".
Which east is west?
Kali Starr
|
"That sounds good, but I think I'm going to go second on this one." Kali says a groan, as she takes out her wand of Infernal Healing and waits half a minute to heal up.
35 charges left on IH wand.
| DM Carbide |
I wasn't sure which direction you were going to go.
The stone carving looks like a stone carving, with nothing particularly odd about it.
| DM Carbide |
The yellow "S" denotes the location of the carving. Remember that north is left on this map (why do they do this?), so the carving is really in the only direction you can go to start with--the question is where you go from there.
Senja Kala
|
Oh, I see. I thought the carving was the little green thing towards the top of the map, that looks like a carved serpent. Let's go toward that. I guess it's east, on the stupidly-oriented map. You could select all, group everything together and rotate the map 90 degrees to get north at the top, if you were so inclined, but I expect you know that.
Kali Starr
|
"Let's go towards the carved statue over there." Kali suggests to the others from her position behind Eva.
East is good.
| DM Carbide |
Eva descends the stairs, the rest of the party trailing behind. As she reaches the bottom, she notices two things: first, there's a door to the north down a short corridor; and second, the statue at the bottom of the stairs has begun to move.
Round 1:

Kali is up!
Eva Initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

Senja Initiative: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
Foe Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
Kali Starr
|
Before attacking, let's see if Kali knows anything about it.
Knowledge (arcana) + Boon: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 8 + 2 = 24
If it's a construct, everyone can make a check due to the Clockwork Engineer boon from two levels ago.
| DM Carbide |
It is indeed a construct. This is, in fact, a statue animated by an animate objects spell or the Craft Constructs feat. Its stony construction gives it hardness 8, and it has the usual constructs traits and immunities.
Kali Starr
|
Assuming all moving statues are bad news, Kali moves past Eva into position to attack and slashes her adamantine weapon at the flat-footed construct.
+1 Adamantine Wakizashi: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15
Damage + Precision Damage: 1d6 - 2 + 2d6 ⇒ (4) - 2 + (2, 3) = 7

Kali doesn't get quite the right angle of attack, and her blade skitters harmlessly off of the statue's body. In return it punches her with a stony fist for 9 HP.

Eva, Asvald, and Kali to go!

I'll wait a bit to see what Eva and Asvald do, specifically if there is grappling and/or rage songs to be be had.
Asvald Bjornson
|
Getting the hint from his friends, Asvald begins his raging song.
If you accept the raging song:
- +2 strength (morale)
+2 constitution (morale)
+2 constitution (enhancement)
+2 will saves (morale)

Eva Baldursdóttir

Eva sets her sword down carefully and attempts to grab the snake-statue, but the smooth marble proves too slippery!

Oh, sure. Sorry about that, Kali! Take your shot. Really, I am not taking away your
shot.
Kali Starr
|
Accepting the rage song as I take my shot.
Kali concentrates for a brief moment to become invisible, then uses the advantage to make another sneak attack on the statue.
+1 Adamantine Wakizashi + Invisible: 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 9 + 2 = 26
Damage + Precison Damage: 1d6 - 1 + 2d6 ⇒ (5) - 1 + (5, 4) = 13

Kali hits the statue, her adamantine wakizashi slicing easily through the animated stone! Then it punches Eva.

Statue: AC 19 T 12 FF 17 CMD 19 HP: -13
| DM Carbide |
In the interests of not being a jerk GM, I feel obligated to remind Senja that if he doesn't cackle his misfortune hex will expire. Not that you need the help; this is a CR 4 creature.
Asvald Bjornson
|
5-foot corridors are the worst.
Asvald flourishes with his sword and continues inspiring ferocity in his companions. Total defense I suppose.
Kali Starr
|
Kali attempts to make another attack on the statue, then tumbles away towards her companions with the help of her magic boots, "I can attack it from a distance, let me give you some room, Asvald."
Adamantine Wakizashi: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13
Acrobatics + Daredevil boots: 1d20 + 15 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 15 + 5 = 29

Senja boosts Eva's ability to hit, and Kali is unable to capitalize on her earlier success. The kitsune retreats to make room for Asvald.
Asvald Bjornson
|
"Thanks Kali!" Asvald says as he moves into position to take his shot.
Attack (heroism, inspire rage, cover): 1d20 + 11 + 2 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (18) + 11 + 2 + 1 - 4 = 28
Damage: 1d8 + 5 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 5 + 1 + 2 = 11
Add 4 to the attack roll if cover doesn't apply.

Asvald knocks a few bits loose from the statue, but steel doesn't seem to be as effective as adamantine on the construct.
Statue: AC 19 T 12 FF 17 CMD 19 HP: -20
Damage updated for favored enemy.
Eva Baldursdóttir
|
Eva attempts to grab the statue again, relying on Senja's hex to counteract the smoothness of the marble. Using Fortune.
Hug!: 1d20 + 11 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 11 + 3 + 1 = 19
Big Hug!: 1d20 + 11 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 11 + 3 + 1 = 33
| DM Carbide |
Attempt to break free: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
The statue attempts to break free of Eva's grip, but fails. You soon reduce it to rubble.
I'm calling it here; it's unlikely to do you any more damage while you kill it. Out of combat!
