Following Xaivan, Pollux comes across the elf. "Your silence is telling, sir." he says. He watches the halfling put an ear to the door, pulling his spear, just in case. Considering our situation, probably anything useful that isn't nailed down, Xaivan replies without looking back at the dwarf. Now keep quiet.

Xaivan, you here nothing on the other side of the door. Opening it slowly you reveal that broken stone benches line this narrow room . The air is cold and stale, and thick layers of dust cover the floor, benches, and a large altar at the far end of the room.

On one of the benches a hooded figure of a being remains perfectly still, the dust as think on it as the rest of the chamber.

Ce-Eshna follows, alert. The insect outside must have come from somewhere, there may be more in here Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

Put a map of the building up as you've explored all the rooms. I changed the scale. The temple was too small to fit everyone properly in a group this size.

Your footsteps a muted as you step through the thick layers of dust. An icy chill runs down your spine as you glance at the alter. A deep gouge through the ornate hammer craved into the surface atop however is an old faded stain. It looks as though something dark was spilled across its polished surface long ago.

The figure you approach Karthak looks to be a dwarven male. Old, and while his flesh is intact, it's hard to determine the color or condition under all the dust. You discover another body lying on the ground near the seated figure. It too is covered in a thick layer of dust.

"I assure you there are very few fools here." Pollux says, eyes still adjusting. He walks out of the building's entrance and approaches Hargus. "Tensions are high. We require your cooperation if everyone is to make it to the surface alive." he holds a steely stare toward Hargus, one of utmost conviction that perhaps is lost in the low light of the place. "Is there something we should know about the woman? Since you've lashed out, I have become curious as to why you are so eager to be rid of her."

He takes a look back at the door to see if anyone is coming out behind him, then turns back to Hargus. "Away from others and the chance of her returning your insults, perhaps now we can speak as gentlemen."

As the potion makes its way down his gullet and his body heals the dwarf jumps on his feet an almost frenzied look in his eyes:"Where? Where is the creature? Did we destroy it? It was a blasphemer of the worst kind! Such atrocity cannot be allowed to infest a shrine to Torag!".

Then, noticing the mangled corpse of what once was the huecuva, Karthak realized what happened and remembers how he was saved by Tess:"Well... I think thanks are in order, girlie. I owe you one and I will repay you, you have my word." he says formally to the young witch.

Then Karthak proceeds to channel the power of Torag to heal himself further. After that he resumes exploring the shrine, staying alert for new threats.

Is there anything else in the temple? When the Huecuva was "alive" you said we felt something was off. Now that the monster is destroyed did things change and can Karthak feel the power of his god?

"Oh!" The girl almost falls backward when the dwarf jumps up quicker than she had anticipated. Muffled sounds come from the satchel where Tess had stored her fox as he laughs at her display. "Be quiet, Sorua," she stammers, blushing in embarrassment. With the threat of combat seemingly gone, she removes the little kit from his special bag and lets him scamper around the temple- with an admonishment to "Behave yourself!"

Gathering herself up, she gives the now-empty potion vial to Karthak. "You can probably collect some of that holy water in this. We'll almost certainly need it!" She colors again at his thanks, and mumbles a sheepish "You're w-welc-....W-well we're just lucky you didn't get hurt too badly."

The bespectacled, birthmarked girl wanders back to where Anevia and Aravashnial sit and quietly dictates a summary of the actions during combat. She offers dried fruit and toasted grain to each of them (trail rations) and snacks on some herself.

Jokum sighs and relaxes as the fiend crumbles to dust. Ridiculous though they sound, should probably get some fancy silver arrows...that arrow might as well have been a twig. He then returns to the foyer, where Tess, Aravashnial, and Anevia are sitting. "If you'd like, there are benches in this main chamber," he informs them curtly. "Come on in; this place is defensible, so we may stay here for a while." Glancing in Tess's direction, he adds, "Well done with that potion, by the by."

"Yes this place would make a very comfortable hold out, but do you want to remain in a desecrated temple on the first night after a demonic invasion?"

"Desecrated by that foul abomination... Is there a way we could cleanse the foul taint that fills these halls?"
She looks to the dwarf. "In times as dark as these, small matter like cleansing a temple means even more. Its not as though rushing headlong to the surface would make a difference either."

The chill you feel is a manifestation of the desecrated aura.

Karthak seems torn realizing Anevia is right: he desperately wants to reach the sieged city above yet his faith simply doesn't allow him to leave a temple of Torag in such a foul condition.

After a long while spent pondering, Karthak nods at Anevia:"You are right. We simply can't allow such a blasphemy. We need to cleanse and reconsacrate it to its legitimate owner, Torag the Almighty!" the dwarf's eyes burn of the fire of the righteous as he finishes his tirade.

Ok... if that sounded a bit fanatical it is because... it was meant that way! He's that way. And what do we need to do exactly to cleanse and reconsecrate the temple? Does it involve using holy water?

This shrine can be consecrated-either to Torag or to a new deity-with 8 hours of work cleaning and praying. If the PCs conduct a prayer ritual and succeed at a DC 20 Knowledge (religion) check (this check may be aided by anyone who helps rededicate the temple). If the PC worships Torag, he gains a +5 sacred bonus on this check.

Xaivan does not care to participate in any ritual, not being comfortable in doing so. He will not protest or get in the way however, instead he'll mainly keep to himself by examining the area a little further, even if out of boredom. If possible, he'll even try to rest.
