Anevia enters the dark front room and slowly makes her way to the back bedroom. "If shes not here she would have left word somewhere in her. At least if she even survived long enough to get back here..."

"Please hurry, every hour that passes makes finding our families more difficult and unlikely."

She is clearly unhappy about being left behind but knows she's been only slowing you down.

"Irabeth, Vagorg was at our house he was waiting for one of us to show up there. You don't think he could have had any part of this attack do you?

Still embracing her wife she lets out a sigh of relief. "Lets get inside and we can tell you all about what happened to us. I'll let these worthy heroes introduce themselves. "

She leaves her makeshift crutch on the ground gratefully using her wife for the support she needs to walk.

"H-he, he was one of several criminals Irabeth tracked down during her time in the River Kingdoms. A cultist of Xoveron named Vagorg, a man whose grandiose plans to burn down an entire neighborhood in Tymon were cut short when he was captured. Vagorg tried to use his shared race to convince Irabeth to let him go, but this only furthered her resolve-she delivered him to the authorities and forgot about him. That was years ago though..."

Anevia looks about worriedly then goes into the bedroom. She opens a secret compartment and finds the note and items inside. See above.

She gracefully offers the items to you and begs one more favor. Take her to the Defender's Heart Inn!

"As much I want to find Irabeth and the Eagle Watch, I have no idea where they might be. I doubt she will be at our home but that's where I need to look first."

Anevia fishes about in her pack and finally finds the key. After fumbling a little with the lock she opens the door and steps inside.

"Hargus leave the woman be. We could always leave you her instead if you don't feel us up to the task of keeping us safe from harm."

"We shouldn't be too much farther maybe another 10 minutes till we get to our house."

She looks about worried that the commotion may have attracted the attention of something more dangerous.

A shutter bangs loudly as it is closed too quickly from a nearby house.

Investigate or press on?

I will just say please please please for your own sake don't split up. I would hate to TPK just when you all get to the surface.

As much I want to find Irabeth and the Eagle Watch, I have no idea where they might be. I doubt she will be at our home but thats where I need to look first."

Anevia lets out a sigh of frustration. Then speaks almost only to her self. "Then you must be the one that bought it." She blushes.

"Hargus is right this isn't something we should be discussing right now. We should focus on getting to the surface or seeing what else this sword can do..."

Taking the time to survey the city, Anevia looks kindly to the young former squire, felling like she, that some things must been seen for themselves before you can truly believe what has happened. "Sam, the cathedral will surely be the center of the devastation, if not for falling beneath the city I doubt any of us would have survived. I promise we'll get there but we need to find the people who are still alive first. They need us more than the dead..."

Her voice trembles at the last word, clearly worried that her spouse met a simmilar fate as to Sam's paladin.

"Oh I would count on it. Shes probably leading a group like this one against the demons, or one the battle all on her own!"

"She's no priestess, shes a battle hardened paladin of Iomedae. Shes... complicated. Irabeth, saved my life when people from my past finally caught up to me. Like you I pledged my skills to her, though she refused my service she welcomed my company. After a few year we fell in love, and were married in Kenabras. She's continued her work with the Eagle Watch and I've helped where I can. "

Anevia looks a bit uneasy but she continues. "I don't think many humans would find her to be the most attractive person. She isn't a full human you see. Though she dose have a certain presence about her. Inspiring you might say. "

Sam also checks on Anevia and the blind elf after they get Hargus' situation remedied. Clinging onto the slim hope that the surly man was smart enough to make arrangements in case of his untimely demise. Which also made them realize just how little they knew about him or their injured companions. The gunslinger decided to try to amend that, starting with the friendliest of them.

Sam fingers the silver symbol of Desna hanging from their neck as they approach, putting on a reassuring smile. "So...err...since we've got time enough to talk, I was just curious and all about you. Ah...you born in the city? Got any family here?"

"No Sam, I wasn't born here. I spent my early years on the streets of Nisroch. My mother worked for a gang of outlaw artists and thieves and I too joined there rank. That all changed when I was 12 the Silent Shroud (Nisroch's ruthless lawkeepers) attacked the guild. I manged to escape but I never saw my mother again. Now my only family is my wife. Oh gods, I pray she is still safe."

Anevia chokes back a sob, refusing to let herself even contemplate what may have happened on the surface. "Shes I all have. I don't... No, shes alright. She has to be."

Response located in Flex Time thread.

Anevia spits when the name of Baphomet is spoken. "No crusader would willingly carry such a tainted icon... Good riddance then!"

The bottom of the chasm seems to be uninhabited. You don't see any other hazards below apart from the drop.

Anevia perks up as you mention rope. "I have a long length of silken rope as well. Though given my leg I'm not sure how I'll be able to climb down... let a lone back up."

Anevia watches the exchange, clearly upset. "We should never had captured him..." she mutters loudly enough to be heard.

As Jokum interjects she stops and listens wide eyed.

As he comes to a close, she adds quietly. "Perhaps we should also return his dagger to him then. He's been stripped of most of his powers and will need some sort of protection."

"I don't know how much I can trust anyone here with us, but you all helped me when I needed it and for as long as we're trapped beneath the earth I don't see what other choice we have."

"She is a paladin and leads solely by example. She is a just and true woman who looks beyond appearances and judges people by their actions. truthfully in the years I've known her I've never seen such discord as we have here in the time we need to be united most."

"You must have misheard me, my wife is a member of the Eagle Watch." She scowls at the man unsure if his error was intentional or not.

"Is that it? Is it gone?"
Anevia's voice comes out as a scared sound. She trembles as the sounds of battle come to an abrupt end, Hargus's voice clearly absent.

"Desecrated by that foul abomination... Is there a way we could cleanse the foul taint that fills these halls?"
She looks to the dwarf. "In times as dark as these, small matter like cleansing a temple means even more. Its not as though rushing headlong to the surface would make a difference either."

She turns to Kelden, he voice little more than a whisper "We have no guarantee that there would be any of his faithful left when we reach the surface..."

Initive: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Avevia shouts”Get down!” A spit second before a small flask sails into the air. Alchemist Fire: 1d20 + 5 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 5 + 1 + 1 = 25 Fire Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1 Burning Webs: 2d4 ⇒ (3, 3) = 6

”Hargus get him out of there! Now, or he’ll burn too!” The spider’s screams, and alien howl like twisting metal, echo around the cavern. Clearly this fight is far from over though.

Anevia thanks ginger for the offer but declines, she can carry her own weight if not any more then that.

Anevia falls into black, silent anger at this, her eyes narrowing. Drawing upon some inner reserves to resist escalating the argument any further. She returns to her seat on the bench staring daggers at the fat man, almost daring him to try and sit on the bench.

Anevia explodes, "Oh slowing you down! You fat pompous idiot, you sweating like a pig to keep up and that's with two good legs. You wouldn't last five minutes out there without these fine people protecting you."

She forces herself up to her feet “I’m not surprised that a man afraid to acknowledge his own faith feels off put in a forgotten temple like this! Of course though, a man like you who’s too ashamed of of his faith is as bad as any demon worshiping cultist!”

After the room is deemed safe Anevia limps into the antechamber of the abandoned temple. Something else flashes across her face for a moment. A fleeting though of something.

DC 20 Sense Motive:

The realization that this building is an abandoned temple to a lawful good deity stirs Anevia's memories of her wife, Irabeth. Anevia grows despondent, but tries to conceal her sudden depression by complaining that her leg is bothering her more than usual and that she needs to rest on the bench for a bit.

”Oh thank the gods a seat…” Practically collapsing onto the stone bench she sumps against the wall clearly exhausted. ”I’m not sure how much father I can walk like this.”

Anevia moves to sit by Tess as she finishes what little she can do to help restore the temple. "Thank you for the food earlier, I'm uh, less then interested in the fare the others brought back."
She puts her splinted leg up on a bench and lets out a long sigh.

"The food is one of the reasons I retired years ago..." She gives Tess a wink.

"Well you all made quick work of those pests. I've not seen such skill since my adventuring days..."

Anevia glares at everyone in the room but seems to settle down.

"The Eagle Watch is a group of righteous crusaders who realized that though most of our enemies live in the Worldwound across the river, a great many walk the streets of Kenabres. The Eagle Watch seeks to rid the crusaders of corruption and improper vices and hopefully remove any demon worshiping cults that have sprung up over the years."

The sound of stones shifting and moving comes from the nearby rockfall woman's grunt followed by the crack of stone on stone. She comes into the light as she rises to her feet. She stands for a moment with a pained look on her face and suddenly her leg gives out. She collapses and her left leg lies at an unnatural angle to her body.

"Damn rocks, Pharasma take them all!"

She look to those gathered around the small flame.

"Any of you care to give me a hand?"

"I can do that for you Aravashnial."

"Aravashnial, please let these people be, I'll be your eyes for now." She stands and uses a makeshift crutch to help her move to the blind man. While slow and clearly pained she takes his arm and begins to guide him towards the rest of the group.

"I'm Anevia Tirabade, I've some experience with fighting demons and their ilk and even some in hunting down cultists. I'm married to one of the Eagle Watch. With my leg I doubt I can be much help in a fight beyond an arrow or two. Hargus may not be the easiest man to get a long with but I promise his heart is in the right place."

The lady speaks true, these tunnels may lead us tot he surface but they also connect to the depth of the Darklands, it's suicide to try and walk them alone. And there are the stories about the beasts that like below Kenebras...

"Oh gods, my LEG!" She screams desperately as the stone is lifted with the combined effort of her rescuers. Her screams seem punctuated by a sudden shifting of stone and more dust settling down from the ceiling.

After she catches her breath her voice still trembles from the pain.
"Th-thank you. Where are we? What happened to the wardstone? I saw demons and fire then everything went black."

"Help, someone please, my leg. I-I think it's broken!" Near the rubble a woman lies on her back, a large stone trapping her left leg beneath it.
