Female Human (varisian) Magus 5

Helpless creatures not, but difficult terrain does. However i'm just asking some clarification on a rule, don't want to tell Syndlara what she must do.

Gath - I know you are new... So you know, when your damage looks high, DMs first say it is wrong, and then check.

Relevant rules quote

"Some creatures, particularly very large ones, may present an obstacle even when helpless. In such cases, each square you move through counts as 2 squares."

...suggests it is not all dead bodies.

I will try to make it clear if certain corpses are particularly obstructive. Rule of thumb otherwise.... Large or larger corpses count as difficult terrain. Medium and smaller do not.

Dorf

Sorry

Female Human (varisian) Magus 5

I hate that i cannot post from work, i just got home and found you already did everything :(

Female Elf Bard (Dervish Dancer) 4/Fighter 1

Did you really just reference the "arrow to the knee" meme, Mugmambi?

Female Human (varisian) Magus 5

FUS RO DAH !!!!!!!!!!!!

Female Elf Bard (Dervish Dancer) 4/Fighter 1

About the indentation and the mancatcher: it was actually so obvious that I thought for sure it had to be something else. And then I re-read it ("Surely I misread it") and thought that surely the "circular indentation" was like a bowl or something--hence trying to fill it with blood.

Well it appears that Truk and I share an int score because it wasn’t obvious to me. =P

Should we just roll wand charges to keep things moving?

Female Human (varisian) Magus 5

It was to me :P
Not because of IQ, simply experience.

We can’t all be smart and beautiful. =(

Not really, I am an oracle with the lame curse. But reading back my post I can see how it could be interpreted that way. LOL

Btw, thanks for having me back guys.

Female Human (varisian) Magus 5

Just stay in front of me and we'll be good :)

I see how it is. You’re just using me for my body.

Female Human (varisian) Magus 5

Speaking of which, i was just going to go to bed :)
Goodnight.

Just to be clear, that room wasn't meant to be a tomb raider-like puzzle. That tall dude and his feral undead have had a pretty good record until now, so the landlord hadn't bothered with a more vexing door mechanism.

I just want you to remember this moment when you face the sudoku serpentlord.

Dorf

Aww I suck at sudoku....

I've found if I fill all the little boxes in and leave it lying around, nobody really checks to see if its right and they think I'm smart.

Mook lvl 12

Maaan... I laughed so hard you made me spill my cheerios.

:)

I am awake Iolana. It is equal opportunity time for my people in the old country. Considering the precedent of my descents into loopiness when up too late, it could get pretty weird...

past 3am is when random side quests start seeming like a good idea to me. And then I start waking up to regrets that rival when I used to drink.

past 5am and you'll start seeing my "crashing" posts like "Life has dealt me a cruel hand. I would've made junior varsity wide receiver but my girdle string snapped at tryouts... They saw me running like I was holding a grape between my knees and made me fourth string tackle."

If you're awake, we should be adventuring!

Did Truk find any tracks?

yep posted in gameplay spoiler

Female Human (varisian) Magus 5

I should move to your time zone damn....or stop sleeping.

so... turning on the Lights again?

Syndlara is carrying light.

OK... I figured she had "unshielded it", but wanted to make sure.

Female Elf Bard (Dervish Dancer) 4/Fighter 1

She actually threw the one she shielded with her hand up north, then picked up the other on the way into the room.

oooh did she?
Ok gotcha... gonna wait a bit before going on to spread the joy.

Female Dwarf Gunslinger 5(Pistolero)

Uhoh

Female Human (varisian) Magus 5

I guess no one is using the items just picked, the onix ring and the strap to wear over the eyes.
Iolana surely won't take them.

Dorf

Imma sell em...or turn the ring over to a goodly church to reform it into something good

Usually that can't be done, they'ld just destroy it.

edit: this poses an alignment dilemma; LG and NG chars wouldn't sell a necromantic item, eventually only to good organizations but only to let them destroy the item. Even Iolana (LN, so she normally could consider turning an item into gold she can use otherwise) would think it well before selling a necro item. Same 'll do CG char, even CN ones, since no one likes evil.

Dorf

Don't they buy it from you? Whatever, good deed is a good deed
But I'm keeping the headband...seeing invisible or ghosts could be handy. I'll let you guys borrow it.

Male Human Druid 5 HP 38/38 | AC 15(16) T 10 FF 15 | Ft +6 Rf +1 Wi +8 | Init +0 | Perc +13

I wouldn't be so quick to discount the "reedeming an item" idea, our Dm tends to think outside the box a lot from my experience.
I think we'll get something out of it in the end.

Female Human (varisian) Magus 5

If i were to GM it i wouldn't either, depends on the time i have to plan.
Well of course i'ld say a iomedean church offres to buy it. At least it is sure they'll see that it isn't used again.

OK ssserpent skull time.

The headband could use fumigating, but is only inherently evil.

The ring is pretty evil coated in evil like a chocolate covered chocolate donut.

More later after I have a donut.

In grey areas for alignments, I am pretty lenient. Actions which do not fit the way you have been playing the character, and sometimes out of line treatment of NPCs are more important to me.

Struggles with alignment only show up in my games if that is your decision to be a conflict for your character... ie paladin obviously.
I wouldn't penalize a NG character for giving the ladies backrubs wearing his gloves for 2 or 3 consecutive rounds. Its just how things were back then.

Regarding the items...up to your characters.
Those who have arcane will (or have already) deduce that the ring was crafted, and crafted with "evil" intent.
The headband became imbued unnaturally over time through the will of the timeless creature and the nurturing environment. Although it came from inherently evil power, its function is not evil.

Since you haven't had any run-ins with cursed items, you might not feel terribly threatened by an object even if its use is distasteful.

Most churches of good faith will reward you the same as a merchant would... if you were to sell an non-evil item of equal value.

About stealth... although I do use the roll somewhat regardless, you need to end your turn hiding behind something for it to really work.

My post two posts up wasn't very clear.

I could see someone using the ring to empower their false life spell as a perfectly fine option for any who do not struggle with strict alignment-based codes.

Male Human Druid 5 HP 38/38 | AC 15(16) T 10 FF 15 | Ft +6 Rf +1 Wi +8 | Init +0 | Perc +13

I had to remind myself that Cure spells are Conjuration now, instead of Necromancy like they were back when.
Not many Necromancy spells for a Druid, and since it was a Divine focus, no use for a wizard.

correct

Its so nice to be underground. I'm terrible at making forest and jungle maps. These I can whip out pretty quick.

Female Human (varisian) Magus 5

I didn't mean to open an algnment debate, just saying why Iolana wouldn't use the ring, she has no real use for it anyway apart occasionally for spells like Vampiric Touch.
Of course she would use it for good purposes.

Unless you try to play Hotel California anywhere near me, you won't hear a debate from me. I was just typing.

Female Human (varisian) Magus 5

I always make confusion when someone uses the verb "to play", as in italian it has multiple translations.
Do you mean playing the song ?

edit after Syndlara floowing post: I understood that :P

Female Elf Bard (Dervish Dancer) 4/Fighter 1

So glad I got those 2s on my dice out of the way.

And yes, he means "play" as in sing/perform the song.

Female Human (varisian) Magus 5

Anyway you don't have to worry Bloodgargler. I can't say i hate that song but i can live without listening to it.

Female Human (varisian) Magus 5

Another thing: if someone has read what i wrote in Iolana's background in her profile and confronted it with what she alredy told during the exploration (the hell i remember when, but Syndlara had already joined), you will notice some differences.
Of course; at that time i still wasn't sure what her background should be, so you can think she said a version of the story in which she left out some parts, maybe the parts she wasn't ready to tell.

Should I DMPC Truk's one action? or should I post in recruitment for a real tank? ;)

Truk yer up!

The whole shipwreck thing is getting stale... I think I should base a recruitment - not on the character (I won't even look), just by the most creative ways of ending up on the island.

(I'm kidding btw... I'm not recruiting again)

Female Human (varisian) Magus 5

For an island not on the maps,it is getting a bit crowded :)
