Great work Zander.
I just caught up! Its now 6am here though, so I should go to sleep! I think the DC is right for what I was trying to do, 10 to handle, +2 if injured.
If its base 15 then I'm fine too as I got a 20.
Gonna ask something else... Oh well.
EDIT: Oh yeah, the latest map trajectory is fine with me.

"In Lebeda we had a series of accidents, but after a while it became apparent that it was more than just mere accidents," Jemini looks down at the handiwork Tandlara found. She continues, concerned: "Some sick religious nut named Tarvin Haddon had orchestrated it all. From the suicide note it was clear that he was a follower of Zyphus - but the explosion destroyed everything. We never found the body."
I just couldn't resist... :P

Taisper Stozs |

Aight, finally got Taisper fully leveled up. Really got to take advantage of Monster Lore finally; Arcana, Dungeoneering, Nature, and Religion are all at +5, and Tracker came in handy, bumping my Survival up to +7 and +8 for tracking. Bumped up some other interpersonal skills as well.
Cunning Initiative gets me up to a +4 Init, new spells are Acid Splash and Expeditious Retreat (this 20ft. move rate is for the birds. the birds, I say!), saves went up a bit, finally got that +1BAB yay!
For HP, I let the PC Gen roller do its thing out of force of habit and it rolled me a 7, but I'll gladly roll "in the open" here or just take average if you'd prefer. Otherwise I'll just keep letting PCG do it every time I level up. I know from painful experience that it is not always so kind.

If you guys ever want to feel good about your RP skills, go check the other Kingmaker threads. Most of them have been going for months on two-line posts every couple of days. Some are barely Level 2 and 1000 posts after 4-6 months. I'm really proud that you guys have such a great standard that you hold your posts to. I know I made the right decision in scrutinizing everyone so hard to find the perfect group. (Makes it a lot easier when I start Cartoon Crown, too!)
I offer a challenge. Our thread turns 1 month old in about 36 hours. Let's get up to 1000 posts by then! What other PBP can claim to produce such quality and quantity?

Jemini of Lebeda |

Would that be a 30-day month or a 31-day month? Another 59 or so posts in 34ish hours is a big deal. But we can try.
A different thought that struck me: I really like the roleplay-XP that we get. But unless the relative merit of roleplay XP changes with levels, it'll become a negligible part of the leveling up process compared to the combat XP at higher levels.
A possible solution is to keep things in ratio with the levels. For example a CR1 encounter for a level 1 party is worth 400xp; divide that by 20 and you have the "top" end of XP for a great roleplay post:
400xp / 20 = 20xp
Then the subdivisions would be 75%, 50% and 25% of that; for the traditional: 20, 15, 10 and 5xp.
The same system for level 2 yields (600xp / 20 = 30xp): 30, 22, 15, 7xp
Level 3: 40, 30, 20, 10xp
Level 4: 60, 45, 30, 15xp
Level 5: 80, 60, 40, 20xp
etc...

I love the RP XP, and as the person consistently at the bottom of the pile from it, it has motivated me to try harder.
But if its a big chunk of the XP we get, it's going to eventually cause a huge divide in party levels. 1 level behind is fine, at 2 levels behind theres a noticeable difference, at 3+ your a cohort.
I'm trying to keep up my hardest, but some consideration should be given to a rift in XP.

Re: RP XP
What if we just instituted a rule that no two party members can be more than 1 level apart at any given time? So for example if Verik got enough XP to bring him to 3rd level while Tandlara was still 1st level, he would just keep accruing XP past the level 3 point, but not actually level his character until Tandlara broke level 2.
That said, I'm still a proponent of all RP XP being pooled and everyone being the same level at all times, but that's just the socialist in me speaking ;)

Hehe. Thats the system I use, however, I will definately admit this has motivated me to work harder. I would feel an urge to contribute if I was getting as much for everyone, but that instinct is very personal here.

I agree with the no-more-than-1-level-difference rule. Though to be honest, I find it hard to picture that happening in the first place. Increasing XP requirements make it hard to out-right out-level somebody.

Berrin Myrdal |

Been thinking about Carrion Crown; I'm set on a bard. Most likely a detective (don't want to write him up till I read the player's guide) and am trying to work up a decent two-weapon fighter out of him. I'm torn between a CG paranoid type and a LG copper type.
15 point buy would yield
14 str
15 dex
10 con
13 int
8 wis
14 cha (12+2human)
Starting feats: TW-fighting and Arcane strike.
3rd- Combat expertice, dodge or enforcer (am thinking either two shortswords or two clubs for the copper.)
5th- Wepon focus, or either of the feats skiped on lvl 3.
Thoughts?

Jemini of Lebeda |

@Berrin:
I'm 100% behind you playing a bard. Bards are a monk's best friend! I'd personally like a LG bard, along the noir style characterization:
I had left for Ustalav in a hurry, the Korvosi girls didn't take kindly to delays. A loaded dame was a dangerous thing - but two of them meant the night would go down with a bang. I wasn't worried about myself - Bettsie and Tina, my silver-minted shortswords, made sure that whoever started the shouting, I was the one who would end it. Still, there was something about a town full of cloakhangers that made my teeth grind like a two-copper hooker.

There is a bit of the Order of the Stick that gives me chills everytime I read it... THIS Although it really needs context to be truly awesome.

Jemini of Lebeda |

Speaking of out-of-game-in-game-context's: did anybody else here see the awesome episode of Community with DnD? (little trailer included). Best. Villain. Ever.

Taisper Stozs |

It's only 5:41 PM for myself and Barcas, so assuming we have until midnight by the DM's time zone this is gonna be a piece of cake. I'll just have Taisper start telling himself jokes if I have to. He's the only one thinks they're funny anyway so it'll be perfect. :-p
