"I have a orange." the lady trails off, a smile in her face as Llyra pays her "My kids will be glad I got some coin. They are still suffering from the plague the poor dears."

Yes, this is very pretty, would you know what color the new emperor likes? I am seeking him and would like to please him if I can.

I give her a seductive smile.

"Hmm...well all I know was that he had dreadful, violent plays with onstage deaths. I'm afraid I don't know anything else dear." she smiles sweetly, though keeps her distance ever since discussing the emporor and looking up and down the road with a nervous look.

Thank you for your help m'lady. It was greatly appreciated.

Here, this is for you and you child so that you can get a few proper meals.

I toss her a platinum piece. And please remember, that those who have brought this good city to its knees shall have vengeance brought upon them. That is a promise from The Savored Sting.

I then turn and walk down the street and return to the rest of the group where I relay what little I was told.

Krenn nods approvingly when Llyra returns with the information.

Very well done, very well.

Krenn will lead them on again, carefully following Jerin's instructions on how to get there.

"Oh, thank you dear. I will be able to cover the rent now!" she smiles as she moves off away with a slight spring in her step due to how happy she is now.

As you arrive at Salvator's home you notice a nasty smell of to the side as there appears to be a sinkhole of somekind where there possibly once stood a house with the broadwalk broken apart too. Salvator's home is a leaning, decrepit building in this area known as the Narrows and not far from the many now ruined bridges that once connected Old Korvosa to the mainland.

Female Aasimar Cleric 10/Rogue 2) (HP: 101/101; AC: 25; FF: 21; Touch: 14

So what is the plan guys? I can sneak around and scout out the area. Or we can barge in through the front door. Or if you are really boring, we could knock.

I can't say I much like the look of this place. Try to walk where I do; if I don't go through a floor, than it is pretty safe none of you would either. And maybe stay back a couple paces, just in case.

Krenn will pause in case any of the casters want to cast anything before starting into the building. Can you assume a 5' space between Krenn and the rest as he acts as a structural guinea pig? He'll try to look into the window at L23 before trying the door at K23. He'll have his axe in his belt and shield ready.

HP 133/133, AC 26/14/23 CMD 22, F +13, R +10, W +17, P +22, In +11

Go take a look... Curnach says softly, thinking to himself and only truly half-listening. He recovers from his thoughts in time to place a minor blessing upon Llyra.

Guidance.

Sorry. I started my post and got interrupted. Before I could finish, Llyra posted again.

Krenn will let Llyra take the lead in scouting. He'll give her a 20' lead, but not let her out of his sight.

I assume with 7 hours on my mage armor it is still functioning?
Not casting anything else at this point.

Female Aasimar Cleric 10/Rogue 2) (HP: 101/101; AC: 25; FF: 21; Touch: 14

Seeing the less than structurally sound building, I will carefully sneak around the building and see what is there.

Jerin wrote:

Yeah, it hasn't been over 7 hours by a long while yet.

Krenn looks in the window and seeing no one inside opens the door. The room is filled with the smell of must and mildew, much of it coming from the mud tracked over the floorboards as if a small army had marched through the room. To the south stands a single empty set of shelves.

Survival DC 20:

The muddy prints are that of half-dozen humans marching in , but you can also tell tha a seventh person was likely dragged out of the building, hinting at a abduction due to the thin trails and scuff marks of dangling feet.

Master of Gaming and Grognardia Current map

Llyra:
You move around the back and can hear movement inside from the side of the wall you are and some movement. For the moment is appears you can hear a few voices inside, though you can't make out what is being said at the moment.

Female Aasimar Cleric 10/Rogue 2) (HP: 101/101; AC: 25; FF: 21; Touch: 14

I assume that there were no rear exits?

I return to the others.

I heard voices in the back of the building, but could not understand what was being said. So there are people inside. So, do we knock or just barge in? Personally, I prefer stealth to diplomacy.

Master of Gaming and Grognardia Current map

There is a backdoor you can enter if you wish to as a group.

MAP

Survival 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22

When they regroup, Krenn tells the rest I saw muddy footprints through the front window. Looked like half a dozen folks, plus someone else being dragged along. Maybe a prisoner?

Male Human Wizard (FC) 13 - Enchanter

Let's go introduce ourselves then! They may be trying to take the painter away before we can learn anything useful...Krenn, if you would like to "open" the door?
Grinning at the stout Dwarven protector.

HP 133/133, AC 26/14/23 CMD 22, F +13, R +10, W +17, P +22, In +11

In case we run into trouble, Curnach places a hand on Krenn's shoulder, causing the Dwarf's tough skin to significantly harden, becoming as sturdy as oak. Curnach draws his rod of persistent spell and readies his shield as Krenn deals with the door.

Barkskin, +3 natural armour enhancement for Krenn.

Female Aasimar Cleric 10/Rogue 2) (HP: 101/101; AC: 25; FF: 21; Touch: 14

I take out my whip.

Krenn, unlike with the assassins where we were surprised, if you can hold a front, I can trip and disarm everyone in front of you to give you all kinds of free shots when they try to get up or pick stuff up. I also have some nice bonuses from the Savored Sting to make it easier to hit things if they are tough.

Krenn responds to Jerin and Llyra with only a smile and a nod to each. He gives Curnach a murmur of thanks when he feels the familiar enchantment course over him. Before he resorts to brute force to open the door, Krenn will try to open it first, seeing if it is locked or barred.

AC 30, hit points 65/65, Barkskin.

Master of Gaming and Grognardia Current map

Which door? Back door or the door in the room Krenn was in earlier. I had you already enter the rom as per the map which is where you saw the foot prints, showing marks of someone being dragged out of the house.

I assume it's the back door.

As you try the door you find it to be unlocked and open it. Inside before you is a young female elf with a perminant joyful smile on her face as you enter. She has a spiked-chain for a weapon and appears to be wearing tight-fitting chainmail covered in hooked spikes that grip to her lithe form and as if her attire weren't obvious enough, you also see a unholy symbol of Zon-Kuthon hanging from her neck. She giggles seeing you enter and on the nearby table you see the origin of the other voice.

The table here has 6 human skulls sitting on it with burning candles on their heads, one of them still muttering something incomprehensible until the elf puts her hand on the skull and it stops. There are many scrolls and parchment placed infront of the skulls which are sat in a arc. From the melted wax is is clear that have been there for a while. This room appears to be an art studio of somekind, but there is no artist to be seen. As your attention turns to the young woman she continues to smile and giggle.
"Welcome, heroes of Korvosa. I suspected you might show up, unfortunately the man you seek and poor Salvatore are no longer here. They were dragged away by, well, let us get to business shall we?" she says offering you all to come inside and making no movement towards her weapon. "I have information you might find valuable, but I want something from you all too. I want you to accompany me to free Salvator, that wonderful artist. If you do this I will give you the information and something of interest if you agree to this. I mean you no harm and I'm sure we would gain more from being allies than enemies correct?" as she says this she puts out her hand, offering her deal to anyone who wishes to step forward and shake her hand

Male Human Wizard (FC) 13 - Enchanter

Jerin looks her up and down, appreciating the sight but still keeping his senses, Your offer is tempting, especially from one so beautiful, but it would be foolish for us to agree to storm the Queen's castle if he happens to be held there. If you could give us a little more information about he might be held then we would be more inclined to agree to a temporary alliance.

Female Aasimar Cleric 10/Rogue 2) (HP: 101/101; AC: 25; FF: 21; Touch: 14

I smile at the woman while shaking my head: She chose the wrong goddess. She would have served the Savored Sting quite well.

Forgot the picture to go with.

Laori Vaus

"Oh don't worry he is nowhere near the castle. Her's still here within the quarintine as all the bridges are destroyed and they can't go anywhere without him." she giggles looking you all over. "The Queen knows nothing about his whereabouts I'm sure, nor the man you seek, no matter how much she wishes to." again she gigggles at something, though who knows what the joke is. "I would very much like to see Mr. Scream as he has made such wonderful art."

Female Aasimar Cleric 10/Rogue 2) (HP: 101/101; AC: 25; FF: 21; Touch: 14

Playing with my whip: And why would you want this man? You, a priestess of darkness, torture and suffering. Of pain. You have no interest in helping this city, I am sure that you and your god are reveling in the pain that is currently in this good city. What is it that you wish from this artist. Clearly your objectives are not benevolent.

"I find his art truely facinating. Such elegancy in his brush strokes and would love to have a portrait for myself." she giggled again in a good natured way "He is a treasure and I would never cause him harm. Besides, my god doesn't like the idea of ichy plagues. It's ugly."

Sorry guys...

If you think I can't track the man you dragged away, you have sorely underestimated us, b$+!@ of Zon-Kuthon. You have nothing to offer and you are guilty of kidnapping as well as veneration of an evil deity.

An accusing finger is pointed at the woman, Curnach's tone harsh and full of wrath.

You may find it hard to believe that your crimes are somewhat small fry in comparison to the villains we've been forced to kill. You can come quietly or you can fight; and you will be taken alive. We will have the information you claim to hold, either way. My friend Jerin here will dominate or break your mind if he must. In addition, I do not believe you are motivated by a mere love of art; you have some darker purpose I am certain.

Take her alive. For Korvosa!

1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28 Initiative

Round 1 Action-

Curnach will cast faerie fire on Laori, marking her for his allies and rendering any invisibility she might try useless.

I have a horrible feeling she might have spell resistance, as I suspect she may be higher level than us by several levels and shes clearly a cleric... Heres a check against SR in case i'm right :S.

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27

And they shall call him Curnach, Lawman of Korvosa, roller of 20's

"Kidnapping? I didn't take him you nut-cake of a druid! If I did I wouldn't be hanging around here talking to you." she continues to smile in her unusual happy way. "I wish for your help to recover Salvatore because he knows where the man you are looking for is. Some kind of noble I guess from the evidence I have."

The Faerie fire outlines her, floating around disembodied flames keeping her visable in case she attemps to hide away, though she had not yet moved from where she's standing.

If she doesn't stop immediately I cast Magic Missle:

Curnach, I am not sure she kidnapped Salvatore...

Curnach mutters softly as he finishes his faerie fire spell.

Perhaps not Jerin, but you'll forgive my caution when dealing with clergy of evil gods- we've had enough trouble from them in the past...

Krenn steps forward and grapples her.

CMB 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 29

HP 133/133, AC 26/14/23 CMD 22, F +13, R +10, W +17, P +22, In +11

Go uncle Krenn ;)! Remember you can just bash her in the face once for non-lethal damage at -4 and cut her down with lethal later I expect. Although if we can just tie her up I suppose its a little nicer...

Female Aasimar Cleric 10/Rogue 2) (HP: 101/101; AC: 25; FF: 21; Touch: 14

High whip skills + Krenn tank + two guys launching splatter spells from behind is fun.

Male Human Wizard (FC) 13 - Enchanter

Between Curnach's Barkskin and a Stoneskin when needed...he pretty much fills the "tank" roll.

Actually I'd say Krenn IS a tank :p Just needs a cannon.

Laori puts up her hands after hearing the offer of surrender.
"I don't wish to fight either. I've made my offer. You may want to assist me once you see the evidence as Salvator might know where the man you seek is." she smiled as giggled again. She had giggled earlier, even when she was being tripped and roughly handled as if everything around her is a joke. "Is there anything else you want to know before you'll trust me? Perhaps where I was born and my early life?"

HP 133/133, AC 26/14/23 CMD 22, F +13, R +10, W +17, P +22, In +11

Consorting with the clergy of an evil deity is ill-advised... Curnach growls, unhappy with where Jerin is taking things. Mark my words, this will not end well.

Addressing Laori, Curnach orders-

Drop your weapon.

Female Aasimar Cleric 10/Rogue 2) (HP: 101/101; AC: 25; FF: 21; Touch: 14

And toss that little necklace with the skull and chains to the side. I would prefer that the Dark Prince's favor be as far from you as possible.

Laori, still grappled by Krenn gives a shrug and a smile as she drops her spiked chain.

"Well, dwarf. Are you going to let go of me? You might hurt yourself on these spikes." she continues to smile whilst keeping up her happy disposition. "Perhaps you would like the prince of darkness more than you admit, young druid. Have you ever felt the pleasure of torturing someone for information or just for the hell of it? Nidal have the most unique and interesting tools for torture."

She bites her lip at the request concerning her unholy item and touches it, traceing her fingers for a short while, but keeps a happy smile and nods.
"Fine, I need you and you need me more than you realise." she says simply, struggling against Krenn's grapple to lift her unholy symbol off her neck and tossing it over to Llyra.

HP 133/133, AC 26/14/23 CMD 22, F +13, R +10, W +17, P +22, In +11

I'm getting really tired of vile clergy trying to tell me their religion will be a nice fit for me. Curnach says in a monotone voice, looking over at Llyra with an apologetic glance as if to say 'not you'. So your admitting to torture? I would not hasten to add to your list of crimes if I were you, foolish one. Korvosa has a long memory and so do I. Still, your co-operating. That affords you some leniency. Krenn, look after her possessions. Jerin, I still think this is a mistake; but since shes submitted willingly- do what you must.

"In Nidal it isn't against the law and I havn't broken any of your rules in Korvosa." she continues her smiles. "Just like the clerics of Asmodeus condone slavery in Korvosa, but none of them are permitted to have slaves in Varisia. I have been working perfectly within the law, even though Old Korvosa claims to have become lawless."

Krenn will reluctantly release her, scooping up her discarded items and taking a step back. He'll hold a ready action to grapple her again if she starts casting a spell.

Male Human Wizard (FC) 13 - Enchanter

Let's sit and talk about this "arrangement" that you are proposing.

Jerin moves over to the table with the skulls and sits down. He pulls a jug of wine from one of his haversack pockets and several cups and offers one to her before pouring himself a cup.

Varisian Sweet red from Melfesh, you won't find many vintages better than this one.
So your offer is we work together to free this painter. We get information that we want from him once he is freed, what is it that you get out of this? What is it you want the painter for. Trust me my friends and I are very good at telling if someone is lying to us. We won't ally ourselves with you unless we know why you want him so badly...

She agrees to sit down and whilst keeping her smile listens to his proposal.

"It is a personal matter, but you have my word he will not come to any harm. I have been searching for someone like him for a while and since he has been taken then there is hope that he has not taken his life, unlike the rest here." as she says this she points to the skulls nearby. "All I can get out of them is garbled crap, but if Salvatore is still alive he will be able to answer my question." she giggles as she seems at the edge of excitement when talking about being able to speak with him. "If this is not enough them please, accept this as I am sworn to secrecy and I cannot reveal anything else without breaking my oath."

Standing and still extremely grim with his arms folded, Curnach says-

An oath for some dark, nefarious plan of yours no doubt... You have been speaking with the dead? And they all took their own lives? Who are they?
