Standing and still extremely grim with his arms folded, Curnach says-
An oath for some dark, nefarious plan of yours no doubt... You have been speaking with the dead? And they all took their own lives? Who are they?
"Some would say dark, some would say holy. Depends how you look at it." she continues her smiles and happy, joyful disposition. She points to each skull as she names them one by one going from left to right. "Jeonia Chirco a seamstress who hang herself by her own cord she made herself, Boathar Kaay who made toys for a living and thrust the old carving knife into his neck, Velaka Hoon a writer who bought poison to take when she went to bed for the last time, Maxtel Erns a sculptor who climbed the building where he made his last sculpture and dived several floors down, Yvos Tanguany a tattooist who cut his wrists and Imon Vernell a poet who took a dagger and drove it into his heart. Painful and grousome deaths and they have been unable to tell me anything." she strokes her hand over Velaka's skull, which happened to have been the skull she was trying to talk to earlier and was only speaking in a garbled tongue. "If only they could tell me their secrets." she continues to smile and giggle before turning back and looking over at Curnach.

I can track the man dragged away, and if I cannot I will speak with the rats and street animals who may have seen where he was taken. She has admitted to speaking with dead, all but admitted to a nefarious secret agenda and is an open worshipper of Zon Kuthon. I say we have barely even started looking for this man yet and we should take her into our custody for the safety of the city; and as a last resort only should we even consider her offer.
Llyra Bjorgan
Well, what do we do with her? I am all for vengeance and pleasure, and while bondage can be very pleasurable, I do not think that that will work for her. She worships pain and suffering.
I can make her unable to lie, but I doubt that it would work, I am sure she is trained to avoid such techniques.
In my view, it is faiths such as hers that have brought this great city to its knees. They have no place here. If it were my choice, I would feed her to the sharks.
Pulling out my rapier: Perhaps I should just take my vengeance right now and then we shall be finished with this devil.

"Sweety you misunderstand. I'd love to see what torture you could inflict. I've been with the masters in Nidal but havn't had a good round of torture in a while." she giggles, keeping her smile on her face. "Prisoner doesn't sound like a good idea. The streets are dangerous and the one you'll have to face is surrounded by many warriors. I don't see why you wish to kill me, I only wish to help you and have no desire to cause you harm. You sure there's nothing I could say or do to sweeten the deal?" she continues to giggle whilst giving a streach and a yawn. "The longer we sit her, the more danger your friend might be in."
Krenn Weststone
Time isn't on our side, I fear. We could track him down on our own in minutes, or it could take days. I don't think we can kill her without risking our only active lead. Either we bargain with her now, or return in twelve hours if we find nothing on our own. Krenn holds up the articles that they confiscated from her. I think she'd be willing to meet with us again.
Llyra Bjorgan
Girl, you seriously misunderstand me. Calistria does not torture people, we take careful vengeance - if it is torture that you enjoy, then we would never consider such a tactic. Quite the contrary, for one such as you, being polite and kind and compelling you to do good deeds would be a far more effective tool. I imagine that I could poke you with hot stickers for hours and you would just giggle like the nut you are. On the other hand, if I were to force you to feed and care for the poor, I think that you would break in minutes.
What do you say guys, shall we find the nearest soup kitchen and volunteer her to help those less capable of affording spiky armor?
Intimidate - I assume the 21 from above is or is not still in effect.

We'll take her as our prisoner for now, though she is not to be mistreated. If she needs us as desperately as she claims, she won't put up a fuss and she'll wait for our return once we have her safely secured. If we need her as desperately as she claims, we can always put our harrow cards back on the table. I will have no part in dealing with this fiend until I have to; and I remain to be convinced.

"I am willing to do a harrowing on her or the location of the senechal if you wish. I have a great fear that we will be unable to save Korvosa if we don't find the seneschal."
Curnach Daveck
I thought of Zellara myself when I mentioned the Harrow Deck.
Curnach smiles a twisted smile.
It seems another lead has already presented itself. I'll be back in a moment.
Curnach steps outside and gives Zellara his assent to do a harrowing on the location of the seneschal.

"Something is wrong...let me deal again." as she says this she seems visably disturbed and deals again, however it comes up with the exact same cards. "This makes no sense. I'm sorry but where-ever he is, he is guarded by some spells that prevent his location being revealed. He could be five yards or five-hundred miles away. I am afraid I am unable to locate him and if I can't, nor can anyone else. I'm sorry, I know you really didn't wish to deal with the elf in there, but she claims to have evidence to reveal where his whereabouts are and we can't be picky. The seneschal has the power to de-throne the queen, but I doupt she'll let him live long enough to allow him to. Good luck and remember, I will help out however I can."
Zellara AKA DM
** spoiler omitted **
"I will" after a whilst she is looking over the cards and turning them up in a specific order. "She did not lie when she stated she wishes no harm. He is the peice of missing puzzle. She is part of a dedicated group of Zon-Kuthon woreshippers. From what the cards tell me, they mean to bring someone back to life, who is dead, yet not dead and certainly not undead. According to these cards he was a general with incredible power and intelligence. I know not his name, but he was very dangerous and clearly she needs your help to assist her. Something about Salvator's paintings hint at this man for he, like the owners of the skulls, had terrorfying visions. I don't think I need to tell you how horrid they must be if those who had those visions took their own lives after seeing them."
Curnach Daveck
Ok, ok Paizo, you win! I'll get back on the damn railroad and shut up my characters personality and misgivings...
Curnach returns, a look of fury on his face.
Zellara has pointed out a few things to me that make me believe we will need this... fiend's assistance. Make the arrangements Jerin, this still sickens me to my core.
I still believe she has her own agenda, and a dark one at that- during this business we cannot let her out of our sight, nor can we afford to do so after. Just business we have to make a deal with the devil does NOT mean we will permit it to pursue its own agenda once we have held up our end and infiltrated wherever shes taking us. Zellara says its unscryable so once we're in, lets bash her over the head and be done with her for a time... We cannot trust her, even if we apparently need her right now. I will not allow clergy of an evil deity to run amok in my city...
Oh... and did you explore this place fully, fiend? Curnach asks Laori.

Oh... and did you explore this place fully, fiend? Curnach asks Laori.
Laori Vaus smiles still, even though she's being called a fiend.
"Thank you for the compliment. Devils are such interesting creatures. In fact, I know a Kythorn personally." she nods "Yes, I looked over the home to make sure every room was clear and that he wasn't hiding somewhere. One of the rooms is very messy. As you can tell from the look of this house he doesn't have much money so he uses fungi for paints. Needless to say, leaving the room unattended the fungi has grown wild in that room and the other room back there is the bedroom where, since you have agreed to help me, I found this little interesting peice of evidence." after that she pulls out a strip of uniform that appears to be stained with blood, however the style is that of the city's high-ranking government officials as it has the city's coat of arms on it.It is from only one possibly high-ranking government official in Korvosa who this belongs to due to the pigment and the other styled patterns on it. It is the uniform of the Seneschal of Castle Korvosa.

I am being silent, because while I am not a paladin or Shelynite, my CN goddess is about as far from the one this nut worships as it is possible to get. Perhaps Desna or Cayden would be a little farther.

Could Jerin substitute a more difficult check for knowledge local? If so I can take a 10 for a 21...it is one of the few skills I don't have.
Can I just take 10 on a check like this? I have +5 in nobility and local which would succeed on all DC15 or lower rolls.

Yeah sure. She's not going anywhere and waiting for your input on the evidence.
Jerin
Could be, I have to admit I haven't spent much time studying those types of things.
Now on to this "partnership".
We ally until we find the painter. Until we find him and get him to safety we work together and use our abilities to protect each other and you kill no one unless we are provoked into defending ourselves. Once we find him, we get the information we need then you get to talk to him at length, until he decides otherwise. Once that occurs you leave the city immediately and do not return for a period of no less than 1 year.
Does that work?
If she agrees, So where is this painter and who has him?
Laori Vaus AKA DM
"The arrangement is fine. I'd perfer to bring along Salvatore, but if all you'll allow me is to speak at him for a while, alone, then I have no problems." she smiles and giggles, you could tell she emphisised the part about privacy. "Let's go, he's being held by the Emporor of Old Korvosa. I was hoping and preying that someone would come to help me seek an audience with the self-proclaimed emporor." she gets up, waiting for her weapon and unholy symbol to be handed back ot her. "Avoid the large sinkhole outside. Otyughs have decided that they are free without anyone maintaining them and destroyed the house that used to sit there. Best we avoid them unless you want to get eaten." she tilts her head to the side with a small giggle.
Jerin
Maybe we can kill two birds with one stone. Sounds like this emperor is a thug and a killer. Why don't we just destroy this emperor and his minions and then take Salvatore? As long as we can do it without endangering Salvatore that is.
Sounds like the people around here fear him and he thinks he is the law. Maybe its time he met the real law?
Jerin
Otyughs... the largest vermin in Korvosa. We should do our part to thin their numbers, no doubt with the city in such chaos they have thrived.
They are vermin, but you have to admit that they are quite useful in keeping the trash out of the streets. Without them we might get overrun with garbage.
Curnach Daveck
In balance they are useful; right now, they are out of balance with Korvosa, for they are not being kept sufficiently culled. They destroy entire houses and streets when left unchecked. I have already made a concession even allying with this... thing. I will destroy these Otyugh, alone if I must.
Curnach makes for the door to the room leading to the sinkhole, glad to have something tangible he could focus his wrath on.
Laori Vaus AKA DM
"Can I join?" she giggles, taking her weapons and marching out with the group, spiked chain in hands and her unholy symbol hanging out proudly. As Krenn approches the sinkhole the hidious smell is apparent where there is possibly a connection to the sewer. The foul Otyugh springs forth, accompanied by four others spread out and spreading their powerful stench. "Wow, what ugly monstrocities! They need to be taught a lesson." still giggling she gets ready to fight with the group.
"Eat peoples. Peoples tastey!" one of them splurts out in pigeon common as they look at you with hungry eyes.

Brandishing a rod, Curnach focuses all the wrath and fury he wants to unleash at Laori at the Otyugh's. He hurls a fireball at all of the beasts, the bead of fire he evokes exploding in mid air to damage all of them. Flames dance in the druid's eyes as he stares at the beasts with cruel indifference to their burns.
7d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 5, 3, 3, 3, 4) = 28 DC21 reflex save for half, they must save twice due to persistent spell rod.

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
The fireball lights up the area, scaring nearby spectators and drawing more to the sight of fire, wanting to see what was burning as these large, filthy abberations scream a horrifying pain-filled scream with their skin burning and recoiling in pain as none of them are able to dodge out of the way of the flame. Other creatures would run, but these are territorial and will not run.
The large creatures move at their slow speed, attempting to get close whilst some block the ways for others. One of them moves at it's own top speed to get close to Krenn, using up it's action.
The others reach over and use their tenticles, one reaching over to slap Krenn with it's tenticles which neither manage to hurt Krenn or even grapple onto him.
attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11 & 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
The final one in reach attempts to grab at Llyra however she manages to deftly dodge the blows and again they don't manage to stick to her.

Before Jerin acts, the creature Krenn just hit is dead, so you know.
Krenn cuts into the large creature, hacking it into small itty-bitty peices, spilling guts and it seems as if Krenn went way over the top when cutting into this thing, inimidating the crowd that has gathered to watch the specticle.

After Krenn completely multches up the one creature, Jerin fires his magic missiles which pound into two of them, however they remain standing, though all of them are giving off a rarther sickening smell of roasted abberation.

Round 2
HP: 49/65
Feeling the need to stay behind the tank, I stay where I am and touch Krenn giving him a Bit of Luck.
You get to roll all d20 rolls twice and take the more favorable next round.
Bit of Luck (Sp): You can touch a willing creature as a standard action, giving it a bit of luck. For the next round, any time the target rolls a d20, he may roll twice and take the more favorable result. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Wisdom modifier.
Really need Krenn to get his axe Keened to maximize this most awesome of powers.
DM Aron Marczylo
for Alex's sick pleasure I'll roll the saves to see which have been burnt or deepfried.
Saves:
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
The creatures are instantly BBQed by Curnach's spell, preventing anyone else to do anything this turn and Laori stopping her spell as she looks to the group.
"Fire, a very nice way to cause pain." she smirks as she admires Curnach's handywork.
DM Aron Marczylo
"I have heard that if we wish to speak with him we must first earn his respect by entertaining him. I found out a favourite game he likes is called Blood Pig. He's even converted a large rooftop inside of his palace into a playig field for this game and the howls and screams of those playing and watching can be heard throughout Old Dock every evening."[/] she pauses for a moent. [b]"I researched this game and it is a violent game involving competeing to take a pig out of a pen an then throw them into a hole filled with starcing wolverines. As you can imagine it is a violent sight and you'll have to steal pigs from competiters. I wouldn't blame you, if you didn't want to take part and simply march in after the king. They know the rules better at the palace."
Laori is willing to lead the way to Old Dock unless someone perfers to walk up next to her or question people.
Jerin
He has earned the right to feel our wrath. Why should we seek an audiance when we should just walk in and destroy the place!
If we go in fully prepared we should be able to handle anything this fool would send against us...if we seek this audience then we should rest and let me sort out my spells so I can bring this emperor under heel.
Llyra Bjorgan
Perhaps we should at least scout out the area and see what we can find. In addition, there is another who I need to find at the docks as you recall. My target will undoubtably be easy to find today. Then, once we have found this emperor blight, we can determine whether now is the time to assault or if we should rest and gain necessary powers.
