"Actually, Mordack, Nicolae is right; I doubt the door will even last a minute. We've got two options for dealing with this thing, depending on how confident we are. Totally missed that the beetle had gone. Sorry about that!

Giltman howls in pain as the beetle takes a huge chunk out of his leg, then decides to really wail on this stupid beetle. He uses one use of fervor for the day to cast divine favor on himself as a Swift action, then swings his hammer at the beetle, hoping to crush its carapace completely!

There is a door to the south and as studious and careful adventurers you perceive the door to have no traps or mechanical doohikies which could harm you.
Then, assuming your curiosity gets the better of you, the party opens the door revealing a hallway leading south then east...

The remains of a small fire smolder in the center of this broad chamber, letting off a plume of oily smoke. Fed by a heap of burning gear, debris, and more than few bones, the fire casts a flickering light across the walls of this room, partially obscured by the veil of smoke.
As Mordack walks further down the hallway he finds it very difficult to breath and coughs slightly. An uneasy feeling of being watched creeps over him yet he cannot see anything through the haze except flickering Shadows on the walls

I've found 'throwing a bone' in this room helps quite a bit as it ain't easy...you're call if you want to read.

Bone:
Hazard: The smoke in this chamber is quite harsh, causing eyes to water and breathing to become labored. Living creatures in this room take a –2 penalty on Perception checks and on Attack rolls. Any living creature that spends more than 1 minute in this room must make a DC 10 Fortitude save or be overcome with coughing fits (treat as nauseated) for 1d4 rounds. Every additional minute requires another check, with the DC increased by +2 for each previous check. The fire can be extinguished with a create water spell or 1 gallon of water. Doing so causes a large plume of smoke to fill the room that increases the penalty to –4 and forces everyone out.

There is also a very nasty thing in here.

At DM Jelly does crawling help any at all since smoke rises?

If it helps Mordack will begin crawling or at least get low enough were smoke can't reach him.

I think there is a passage right where I put Nicolae's icon on.


While there appears to be another passageway, it is only a set of stairs leading 10 feet and abruptly ending in impassable rubble.

Map has stairs which is incorrect.

The east door opens!

A small stone bench sits in the center of this dusty chamber. On the far wall is a faded mural depicting the hero Kassen defeating the mercenaries at the entrance to this crypt, with his blade piercing the chest of the mercenary leader. These figures stand alone in the center of a scene of carnage, with dead villagers and mercenaries all around them.

DC 15 Perception:
Both Kassen and the mercenary leader are wearing golden necklaces, each made up of a simple golden chain, from which hangs an oddly shaped medallion. While not identical, the amulets look similar.
