"Actually, Mordack, Nicolae is right; I doubt the door will even last a minute. We've got two options for dealing with this thing, depending on how confident we are. The cautious option would be to just keep our distance and pelt it from range; if we stay away from it, it can't hurt us, but it might take a while for us to finish off. The bolder option is to just rush it and hope we can kill it before it can use its acid again. I prefer the second option."

"Sounds like a plan to me!"
Giltman pushes the door back open, charging at the creature heedless of the danger! Not an actual CHARGE since it's not a straight line
Hammer smash!: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Aww, so close to a crit!

![]() |

"Sorry, Giltman, I meant to say wait for my signal. Uhm, you might want to take a step back from the creature after you hit it again."
As he says this, Leb rushes into the room and takes up a position in the corner.

Init: Caz, Bug, Mordack, Giltman, Leb, Nicolae
Leb: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Mordack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
Giltman: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (13) - 1 = 12
Nicolae: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Caz: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27
Bug: 1d20 ⇒ 20
The bug was retreating back to the corpse as Giltman rushed in to crush its carapace, soooooo with that said who's taking advantage of this surprise round??
Caz casts Bless. (+1 to atk and vs. fear)
I'll bot Caz for this encounter but I have not heard from him in a while.
Ya'll want me to recruit another?
Beetle - 9

As he waits for an opportunity to a bomb, Leb yells: "Guys, don't stand too close to it!"

![]() |

When it gets to Mordack's turn he will cast Magic missile. damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
afterward
I'm now all out of magic, except for that crappy at-will stuff for the day.

![]() |

Totally missed that the beetle had gone. Sorry about that!
Giltman howls in pain as the beetle takes a huge chunk out of his leg, then decides to really wail on this stupid beetle. He uses one use of fervor for the day to cast divine favor on himself as a Swift action, then swings his hammer at the beetle, hoping to crush its carapace completely!
Hammer smash!: 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 6 + 1 + 1 = 20 (+1 from divine favor, +1 from bless)
Damage: 1d6 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 1 = 10 (+1 from divine favor)

![]() |

"Didn't I tell you to step back, Giltman? Sorry!"
ranged touch attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6; damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
miss direction: 1d8 ⇒ 1
Reflex save for half splash: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
5 splash. The DC to halve the splash damage is 13.

![]() |

"You sure did, but sometimes I just don't listen very well!"
Reflex: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
Only 2 splash damage to me.

Yup, the thing is dead.
The beetle crunches in death and curls up into a fetal position during its death throws.
There is a door to the south and as studious and careful adventurers you perceive the door to have no traps or mechanical doohikies which could harm you.
Then, assuming your curiosity gets the better of you, the party opens the door revealing a hallway leading south then east...

the dm must have read out minds.
Mordack is around the corner, what does he see now.

The remains of a small fire smolder in the center of this broad chamber, letting off a plume of oily smoke. Fed by a heap of burning gear, debris, and more than few bones, the fire casts a flickering light across the walls of this room, partially obscured by the veil of smoke.
As Mordack walks further down the hallway he finds it very difficult to breath and coughs slightly. An uneasy feeling of being watched creeps over him yet he cannot see anything through the haze except flickering Shadows on the walls
I've found 'throwing a bone' in this room helps quite a bit as it ain't easy...you're call if you want to read.
There is also a very nasty thing in here.

Seeing the smoke in the room ahead, Giltman will tie a piece of fabric across his nose and mouth to try to stave off its effects. He then follows the others.

![]() |

At DM Jelly does crawling help any at all since smoke rises?
If it helps Mordack will begin crawling or at least get low enough were smoke can't reach him.

![]() |

If it is, I don't want to end the journey just yet, there is more dungeon to be explored No really I want to explore the full dungeon first, so I can have more buyable available treasures on my PFS sheet.

![]() |

Leb smiles at Nicolae. "Pleased to meet you, Your Majesty."

![]() |

Leb attempts to pick the lock.
Disable Device: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25

![]() |

Mordack will go back to the room with the pool and stand next to the door. He avoids all the known traps while getting there. He asks others to come along while before heading off.

DM Jelly |

Apologies, apologies, apologies! Big blue jiggly made an error! There is another door but, unfortunately, you can't open it from this side. No DD or STR check could open this door!
Map updated.
The east door opens!
A small stone bench sits in the center of this dusty chamber. On the far wall is a faded mural depicting the hero Kassen defeating the mercenaries at the entrance to this crypt, with his blade piercing the chest of the mercenary leader. These figures stand alone in the center of a scene of carnage, with dead villagers and mercenaries all around them.

![]() |

Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Giltman sees the two necklaces, and exclaims "Looks like Kassen and his buddy were a bit more then friends! They wore matching necklaces! Grrowwl!"
Giltman enters the room.
