Aristaios looks around.

"Chandra's disguises gave me an idea. What if we had masks of some sort? Not just to disguise ourselves but take on a unified identity? Like we're not just a motley of disaffected Wiscrani, but a true united force? It would make quite a statement to the Hellknights, I think..."

House Rules:

"Perhaps? We don't have time to prepare them now, and I feel that's something to speak with Arael about. When we return, though, that's something... I think we ought to discuss that, among other things." Gathering the rest of the men and women, she pulls aside a curtain and yanks a lever, opening a small tunnel. "This one doesn't head through the sewers, don't worry. Just away from here, so we aren't spotted." She ushers those traveling with her on through, then calls the party forward. "Andrezi and Tassira can show you where we keep the horses. Wait about five minutes, then come down after us."

After leaving the city along one of the major roads, Janiven's party regroups with your own. "We'll set up our 'ambush' down the road, just make sure you're ready for them here. Stay safe, and meet us back at the safe house when you've found him." After that, she and her 'soldiers' ride off, leaving the party alone at the bridge to plan their own attack.

Assume that any mundane equipment you need for the ambush, the resistance was able to pay for and acquire before you all left town. Once you're all confident the ambush is ready, post here or in discussion and we will get this ball rolling.

Chandra is ready. She has a rapier, dagger, whip, and sling. She has the offensive spell Chord of Shards which can do area effect damage in a 15' cone. She has one potion of CLW.

As for equipment, we should have oil we can splash on the road and a source of fire to light it such as a lamp or torch. Simpler would be some flasks of alchemical fire, so we don't have to worry about lighting it. We should have enough to cover the width of the bridge, probably one per five foot square.

Daniel probes the terrain. He looks for hiding spots, places to take cover and muddy/sandy/unstable areas. He also considers where on the bridge it may be easier to push people off. Do we have a map of the area? Otherwise I would like a description :)

"Let's hope this ambush turns out better than our latest attempt." he thinks to himself.

Tassira flexes her fingers, feeling the magic burning at her fingertips. She clenches and relaxes her hands while she waits for the Hellknight convoy to arrive...

She follows Daniel in looking for a place to hide and strike from once the ambush was underway in earnest.

Yes, that's perfectly acceptable. Also, I'll have a map of the area up shortly, on Roll20. You have enough oil to cover the bridge in full, and one flask of alchemist fire would be enough to light it all.

Aristaios has his sword drawn as he lurks in the shadows, the kinds of shadows he'd known for a long, long time. He glowers as he waits for the signal to spring the trap.

Patience. The Way of the Children is patience. Only when the enemy releases their energy can you turn it back upon them.

Aristaios will also take 20 on Stealth for a result of 26.

After setting their trap, the group retreats to the safety of a nearby ditch, taking time to wrap themselves in foliage to disguise themselves. Not long after you hide yourselves, you hear a commotion up the path a decent ways, the sound of galloping horses and the screaming of commands. A few minutes later, the carriage breaches the tree line, an imposing metal behemoth pulled by four stallions. A few Hellknights ride to either side, with one manning a large, stationary crossbow atop the impromptu cell. Soon enough, the carriage draws close to the bridge, the armigers aboard appearing not to notice the party's hiding place, despite a long, hard glance over the gully.

Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24

You all get a surprise round to launch your ambush and attack. I'll get the map up on Roll20 ASAP.

Chandra hid under the bridge at the edge of the water, gripping an alchemist's flask, ready to jump out and light the oil on fire when the carriage reached about 50 feet from the near edge of the bridge. This would give the other more martial members of the team a jump on the attack phase.

Aristaios stares out from the bushes, occasionally casting a glance at Daniel nearby. He tries to steady his breathing, waiting for the signal.

"We risk our lives to save another with right on our side! How can we fail?" Inspire Courage in place: +1 to hit and damage.

When Chandra judges the carriage to be close enough, she lobs an alchemist fire flask onto the bridge. [ooc][/ooc]

"Stand and deliver!" she yells. Always wanted to say that, she thought, her heart racing.

When the alchemist's fire goes off, Tassira strides out of cover and blankets as many Hellknights as she can in a spray of colours.

"Good evening, gentlemen."

DC 15 Will Save or they are knocked unconscious for 2d4 ⇒ (3, 1) = 4 rounds, then blind & stunned for 1d4 ⇒ 1 rounds, then stunned for 1 round.
