Have we checked any of the recovered items for magic? If the items themselves are the keys, it's possible they'd register as such with a detect magic.

As far as posting rates go, I really like both this game and this group! I certainly hope we can keep going - this is one of the longest running games I've been priveledged enough to play in; it'd be a shame if it fell apart on us now!

Any suggestions for languages Sabinus should learn via the headband? He already speaks Infernal, Osiriani, Varisian, Shadowtongue, and Abyssal, and I guess can pick up 5 more now. And does Sabinus get one more because his INT bonus is now +6, or is that only for starting languages?

Whoa--that's a lot! Can you keep language slots open? :D Hard to say what we will need yet.

You get another for the Int boost.

I think draconic and elven are always solid choices. I don't know if there's ever been an adventure where something didn't show up written in draconic or elven at least once. Giant is probably a safe bet too. If you want to pick up any summon monster spells, the elemental/planar languages will be helpful in communicating with whatever you summon.

Caladius Rend wrote:

Correct.

As for posting rate, if you're posting at least once a day, my earlier message is largely not for you. Weekends I'm much more lenient about, I tend to think of those more as a bonus if we can post during that time.

M Human Commoner/1, Expert/1

Sorry about my absence and for not checking in. My lung collapsed on boxing day and my summer classes started a week ago and I've had a fairly full plate. (I kind of assumed Ava would cover for me and didn't PM, sorry!). I'm more than willing to step up my posting to keep the game rolling again. I'll have two more weeks of full time classes and another week of assessments and then I'm off until March.

I'm sad to have missed the chance to roleplay over the downtime. The quiet spells in this game have been some of the most awesome, roleplay wise. I'm also annoyed to find I didn't actually finish leveling up nor save all the numbers I crunched (at least fighters are fairly simple in that regard). I'll get on that as soon as I catch up in the gameplay thread.

Edit: Have we considered that our Erinyes head might be the key? Or that there's a password?

Hope you're feeling better!

It's a good thought about the Erinyes. Another good reason we shouldn't destroy the head just yet.

Personally, I think this lead we're following will give us some answers. But other than they're shadowy, nasty, and a plague upon this city, I can't say."

Having said her piece she turns to Yako with an arched eyebrow and mouths the word 'Mister!?' to the irreverent gnome. Yako smiles evilly and gives carpenter a sinister look of promised revenge.

Oh boy, serves me right for falling behind. Oops :P. I'll admit I've kind of lost the thread of things a little bit, so I'm glad to be chasing new plot threads. It should give Lucon a chance to speak up a bit more.

I'm ready to proceed to the cove whenever. FYI, I'll be out of town this weekend, including most of Monday (MLK day). So, I'll be able to post during the day on Friday (until about 3pm PST), but then I may not be able to post again until Tuesday morning.

Mug:
I forgot that Sabinus also gets to choose a feat at level 5. The "accursed hex" feat from Ultimate Magic comes highly recommended. It allows an immediate second attempt at hexes like misfortune and slumber. ("When you target a creature with a hex that cannot target the same creature more than once per day, and that creature succeeds at its saving throw against the hex’s effect, you can target the creature with the same hex a second time before the end of your next turn. If the second attempt fails, you can make no further attempts to target that creature with the same hex for 1 day.") Would it be excessively frustrating to you as a GM if Sabinus took that feat? I know a witch PC can be a bit challenging to the GM! Of course, I take some cover in the fact that you encouraged me to play a witch... :-) ...

Sabinus:
At this point, its largely about the thrill of discovery for me as a GM. I haven't done it enough to hate or love many things that a longtime GM might. So I say go for it. If I do learn to hate it, then I'll know for the future. You'll need to remind me what's going on a time or two I'm sure. :)

Gahhhh why was I not more diligent in researching Shadows in-character and stocking up? OOC I knew they were coming, but taking the initiative is something I don't do enough of as Lucon. Definitely something I have to work on.

I guess I can't hope to be prepared for every challenge the party face. Here's hoping there's more to this next installment than magic locks, incorporeal beasties and cryptic puzzles. (As a side note, starting this segment marks the furthest I've been in any paizo adventure path to date, which is AWESOME. Do you think we'll see the end of this one in another year or two of play? Because I honestly dont know what its like to finish a campaign even after six or seven years in the hobby.)

Mug:
Finally polished up Lucon's profile and levelled him up. (He gains 8hp, the Dodge feat, weapon training in axes and the additional BAB, so nothing major.) Sorry I put that off so long, I'd made the decisions in-thread weeks ago but hospital, classes and several PbPs speeding off without me meant I wanted to focus on returning to regular posting first. If it isn't too late, could Lucon pick up a reach weapon from this latest downtime? I kind of missed my window in my absence, but I've had a few more since while the others went wayfinder hunting where it plain didn't occur to me... if it's too late, it can wait til our next downtime.

@Lucon, happy to be a part of your longest/furthest running AP! :) I certainly hope to have this AP finished within two years, and if we could do it in one that'd be icing on the cake. Not that I'm eager to stop playing of course, but rather I'd like to have things move faster for you all as a group.

Lucon:
Thanks for the level update. I'm also curious where your skill points went, for the record.

It's not too late to retro the reach weapon. Obviously like to avoid too many retro benefiting players once combat starts, but due to your absence and intention to pick one up, it's fine with me. What? You don't like oars? ;)

D'oh! Two cross-class points in heal. It won't come up much, but it's a prerequisite for his later stunning fist feat-chain and adds to his gentle giant schtick. I'll grab a bardiche and a healers kit. I won't be grabbing any oils of magic weapon or holy water, don't you worry. :P

Cheers!

Thank ye, Caladius! I'd done research for a while, trying to figure out how to add on to the melee capabilities (not DPR) of a monk, and found some bad touch cleric builds...a bad touch cleric/monk build is even better, and we haven't had a healer for a while---AND the undead abound, so it works out all around!

Hey! Not that I don't appreciate having a cleric in the party, and not that I disagree that a more traditional healer will be helpful, but Sabinus has been taking care of the healing duties quite nicely!

Mug, the parchments, both from the Crux and from the cache, are cut off on the left and right edges when I open them. Is this intentional? Are others having the same problem?

Hey folks, just had an uber busy day at work today, and get-the-house-ready-for-baby activities when I got home. I should have time tomorrow if I don't get something up tonight.

@Sabinus - Is there more than one parchment? I'll narrow the image as it was not intentional.

Mug, could you put a link to the documents in the campaign info tab if you get a chance? I want to be able to check back and make sure I'm up to speed. I have a nasty habit of forgetting important names and plot threads over PbP.

I've updated some links in the campaign thread. The "Council of Thieves Image" or "CoT Image" link typically will have the latest interesting image or document, as well as a link to the other image(s) of interest. Hope this helps some people!
