"Freezing hell, that's strange magic" he bellows when he finally snaps out of it, turning on the spot towards the entrance.
"Retreat sounds about right!"
I suppose I won't be able to actually turn around before it crushes me, but a viking can try ;)

since I can redo my action, as my attack spells on a single enemy suck, there is not a lot I can do. I moved my character back to his original position
Which one of you melee people, wants to hit harder?
whoever says yes first, I cast enlarge person on that person. You will have a +2 str, but -1 to hit, which evens out to 0. But more dmg. Not to mention, a 2d6 weapon becomes 3d6, 1d4, becomes, 1d6, etc.
Abaal Zadeir, Sword of Katapesh
|
As for light, Abaal has a wayfinder around his neck which can cast light.
As for being enlarged that might make it difficult to get through the doorway, so I'll pass for now. I can't remember if the entryway is significantly narrower than the passage or not. Still a 2d6 falchion, with Power Attack to go with the Strength bump and an already good crit range sounds great to me! XD
Actually though that might solve Bjor's problem! Most creatures can only 'trample' smaller opponents.
Zanu, how are you on movement? Do we need to pick you up if we retreat?
Bjor Blutschnauze
|
Yeah making me big would propably save me here XD
Bjor has already shouted a lot for being last in initiativ though, so if you cast it on him, it's just your pure intelligence telling you to do it ;)
Abaal Zadeir, Sword of Katapesh
|
Well, you are still going to get hit in the face with a brick, it's just a matter of which side of the brick you want to be on when it's all over.
| Seoni, Iconic Sorceress |
Enlarge Person is a 1 round casting time. The pyramid will squish Bjor before Zanu can finish casting. I could use scorching ray to inflict more damage on average (2 4d6 hits should make 12 damage a round.)
But I have Indiana Jones in my head right now and think we should retreat to the pit trap.
| Oykiv |
You are right Kysh. The pyramid don´t have combat reflexes so it can´t hit you
Abaal is also right, if you make Bjorn large, the pyramid won´t been able to trample over him.
As I read, it Zanu and Kysh are not going to undone their actions, so it´s
Combat round one
Bold can act
Kyshkumen jumps over the pyramid
Zanu moves toward Bjor and starts casting “enlarge Bjor”
SeoniWho can redo her maggic missile or try another thing
Abaal
Malaika
Pyramid
Bjor
The pyramid can roll right or left. When it roll over any of you, you can decide if you´re going to try to avoid it (reflex save for half damage) or make an AoO.
Malaika de'Morcaine

Malaika readies a vial.
Only thing I've got that might work is a vial of acid if the GM decides the stone is particularly susceptible to acid it would ignore the hardness. So if it gets to 20' from me I will throw the vial of acid at it.
ranged touch: 1d20 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (9) + 1 - 2 = 8, if hits acid damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2
| Seoni, Iconic Sorceress |
Alright, sounds like we're going to stand our ground and blast it, then.
Seoni thinks about her trusty wand, but decides instead to shoot it. She conjures a ray of flame in her hands, runs up until she is in range and hurls it at the pyramid, like a javelin.
Scorching Ray's Ranged Touch vs big Pyramid: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Fire Damage: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 3, 3) = 12
As it zaps the pyramid, Dragon hisses in fear.
"Fortune does favor the bold, Dragon. May the gods smile upon me today."
Abaal Zadeir, Sword of Katapesh
|
Damn, it's too crowded in here to fight! Can't charge from here and in another moment the Ulfen will be 12-feet-tall and clogging the breach and ranged attacks will be of little use even if I can fire past him. Grrr. The Sword of Katapsh grits his teeth steps forward five feet and readies for what might come.
I got nuthin' this round so he just readies to strike dead the first pyramid that comes within reach.
| Oykiv |
pyramid, 1=right 2=left: 1d2 ⇒ 2 Over Kyshkumen then
Make a DC 18 Reflex save to receive half damage or an AoO, as you wish.
trample damage: 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17
Combat round one recap
Kyshkumen jumps over the pyramid
Zanu moves toward Bjor and starts casting “enlarge Bjor”
Seoni cast a scorching ray making some damege to the pyamid
Abaal prepares himself to attack the pyramid, but it moves to the other direction
Malaika throws an acid flask that hits in a soft spot an causes a little damage vulnerable to acid just for this attack, so we can go on with the combat
Pyramid -6 HP rolls over Kysh crushing him hard
Bjor
Bjor will act in round one and the rest in round two, so all of you can act.

reflex: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
folio reroll: 1d20 + 7 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 7 + 5 = 22
Kyshkumen leaps through the gap made be the pyramid's angled side avoiding any damage. evasion
He draws his bow and an adamantine arrow and fires at the construct.
ranged: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Edit:just looked at the map. Kyshkumen will take a step back before firing.
| Seoni, Iconic Sorceress |
"Blast this thing!" She mutters as she hurls another scorching ray.
Scorching Ray's Ranged Touch vs Pyramid.: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Damage: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 5, 2) = 12
The ray sizzles more of the pyramid.
| Oykiv |
@Malaika. Exactly, more flasks of acid will do nothing
@Kysh. Rolling over you was the best result, no damage for the group due to trample
Kyshkumen steps back a little before firing his arrow, but it´s not enough to put himself far from pyramid´s reach. So he can see how the rollers bolt from the position hitting him. In exchange Kysh shot an arrow to the construct damaging it.
AoO against Kyshkumen, reach 10 feet: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 211d8 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12
Combat recap
Bold can act
Bjor I think you´ll delay until Zanu finish his spell
Kyshkumen shots the pyramid and its wounded by it -12 HP
Zanu
Seoni cast a scorching ray making some damege to the pyamid, again
Abaal
Malaika
Pyramid -15 HP
Bjor Blutschnauze

As Bjor realizes some strange powers are working on his body, he stops in his tracks and waits until the spell is complete. He is very much surprised how quickly the group reacted to the strange pyramid coming to life - the masked man even going so far as jumping over it.
And then it turned - followed by a painful impact sound on the other side.
"Let's cut this thing to pieces grind them into dust!" he bellows at the same moment, as he feels his limbs growing and sees his shield and axe expanding to surreal propotions.
Delay until after Zanu's turn
Kyshkumen Silentblade
|
The pyramid's attack catches the masked man off guard and the blow causes him to spit up some blood. He looks back at the rapidly growing Bjor. "Get up here quick, before it tries to run me over again."
Current hp 12/24, not complaining about the thing going after me first. Was hoping I might draw it away and evade the damage, dice just didn't cooperate the first time.
Kyshkumen Silentblade

You still get a move AND a standard action this round.
| Oykiv |
Kysh is right Zanu, You have your actions in his turn
Combat recap
Bold can act
Bjor grows and is asked by Kysh to help him
Kyshkumen shots the pyramid and its wounded by it -12 HP

Seoni cast a scorching ray making some damage to the pyamid, again
Abaal
Malaika is delaying until he can heal someone
Pyramid -15 HP
Bjor Blutschnauze

"You mean I shall climb that thing? I don't think I will fit over it now. Better smash it to pieces first!"
Bjor moves swiftly towards the damned thing, moving a little shakily, as he is unused to being a giant.
He runs until he near enough for his suddenly strangly long arms to hit it in the "face", then smashes his spiked shield into it's side with a mighty shout.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14, Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
The map needs an update, Kyshkumen is still on our side of the pyramid, and I'm not sure how far to move etc
Abaal Zadeir, Sword of Katapesh
|
Abaal moves up as far as he usefully can and ponders doing something stupid next round.
Bjor though you can't reach the construct you can reach Kyshkumen....
| Seoni, Iconic Sorceress |
The first rule of Fastball Special is...don't talk about Fastball Special.
| Oykiv |
Zanu will delay he comes again to tell us what he does
The pyramid can´t roll over anybody, which makes it angry as only the old stone can be, and he let it flow attacking in every direction, but it don´t hits kysh neither Bjorn.
slam: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 101d8 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16
Combat recap

Bjor
Kyshkumen -12 HP
Zanu
Seoni
Abaal
Malaika
Pyramid -15 HP
| Seoni, Iconic Sorceress |
Feels odd blowing all of my magic on the first monster, but...damn that hardness.
Seoni casts another Scorching Ray over Bjor's shoulders.
Ranged Touch, Cover: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 - 4 = 2
Damage: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 1, 5) = 11 Natually when I get big damage...
Seoni overcompensates her aim. "Rats! Er...sorry Dragon."
Bjor Blutschnauze
|
Actually my axe is a light weapon, but I do can wield my shield two-handed. Even if its a bit wierd.
"Get back buddy!" Bjor says rather loudly to Kyshkumen, and waits until the masked man moves out of the way. When he has done so, he moves forwards, hangs hs axe back on his belt and usng his free hand as additional pushing power, he rams his shield into the thing with a loud "Hngh!"
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16, Damage: 1d8 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18
Move 5 ft, then power attack with shield tow-handed.
Abaal Zadeir, Sword of Katapesh
|
The first rule of Fastball Special is...don't talk about Fastball Special.
It's okay, he normally does it with another guy.
"Get back buddy!"
Not 'Little Buddy?'
If there's a five foot square between 'the giant' and 'the hard thing' Abbal is there! (I moved where I want to be. I'm not sure everyone else is actually where they are though).
[dice=Blazing Sword (with Power Attack!)]1d20+6[/dice]
Damage!: 2d4 + 7 ⇒ (2, 4) + 7 = 13
Zanu Turok
|
Well, since my spells can't bypass its hardness, except for maybe MM if I roll max, I'm useless this battle, I sit back move away from the thing every turn, until it dies.
| Oykiv |
@Bjorn, more weird than being attacked by a pyramid inside another pyramid. @Abaal, everybody is in its place. @Seoni, yes hardness is always a problem, but your group has a big guy and some adamantine arrows, so you have some options
Abaal rush to attack the pyramid, dodging the rollers as they come to hit him, but despite hitting hard his blazing sword can´t cut through stone.
Seoni tries to throw a scorching ray to the pyramid without hitting her allies, but she miscalculates how much high she has to shot and hits the ceiling.
Kysh, don´t wanting to face another attack, runs to safety.
Combat recap
Bold can act
Bjor smash his shield over the pyramid breaking stone with it
Kyshkumen -12 HP runs to safety
Zanu sees how the combat unfolds
Seoni cast a scorching ray over the corridor ceiling
Abaal rush to attack the pyramid but he can´t pierce its armor
Malaika
Pyramid -25 HP
The pyramid, unable to roll over thieves, as it was ordered, continues attacking with his rollers.
1 Bjorn, 2 Abaal: 1d2 ⇒ 2
Slam: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 221d8 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17
Abaal boldness is rewarded with some broken ribs. All can act again.
Abaal Zadeir, Sword of Katapesh

On the next round, assuming Malaika doesn't kill it with a 10 dice flamestrike.
More Power in the Power Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
Damage!(?) (forgot I used a whetstone today so +1): 2d4 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (2, 3) + 7 + 1 = 13
Remember to write to my mom if this doesn't work, and let her know I was wearing clean underwear.
| Seoni, Iconic Sorceress |
Drawing on more of her reserves, Seoni conjures one more scorching ray.
Ranged Touch, Cover: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 - 4 = 4
Damage: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 6, 6) = 19
Sigh...
As the ray misses, Seoni seems lost for a moment. "I'm out of those rays. Not much else I can do here. Crush this thing, quickly!"
She pulls out her wand of magic missile and prays she gets lucky.
Bjor Blutschnauze

Do I understand correctly: It hits me once for 2 damage and almost crushes Abaal?
Seeing his companion battered hard and almost squished on the floor, Bjor puts all his newfound weight in one mighty blow.
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7, Damage: 1d8 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11
Using the Shield two-handed again, power attack
Abaal Zadeir, Sword of Katapesh
|
I believe the 2 was the result of the roll to determine randomly who, between the two of us, it would crush for 17. I'm hopin' for an odd result next time. ;) Ouch! It hurts when I smile....
| Oykiv |
Abaal is right, one random attack and he faced the worst part. But the odd result had happened, when the pyramid roll a 1 in the previous round.
Abaal praise he don´t die today and continues his attack over the pyramid, with better result this time. Meanwhile, Malaika, seeing how hard the construct is hittin his companions, rush to heal them.
Seoni continues sending rays to the ceiling, and Bjorn, unused to his newfound size can´t hit the pyramid.
Combat recap

Bjor
Kyshkumen completely healed

Malaika heal his allies

I could do something, but my spells are a waste given the hardness, save them for future battles. I don't have very many buff spells and my melee weapon isn't all that great for bypassing hardness. I'd do about 9 dmg with my melee weapon with a good hit, thus unable to bypass hardness.
| Oykiv |
We know Zanu. I´ll put you in permanent delay until you want to do something (like pick a fallen companion and drag it away if things go wrong)
Kysh makes a little more damage to the pyramid. In response, the pyramid continues attacking Abaal, but this time his armor protects him of what could had been a hard blow
1 Bjorn, 2 Abaal: 1d2 ⇒ 2
