Justin Case |
Justin can FEEL Memnon shaking under his hand with (barely) suppressed laughter. He stares straight ahead. His eyes unreadable behind the dark-lenses of his magical goggles. Possibly biting his tongue. Literally.
'Must. Maintain. Wizardly. Dignity.'
'Too late. Out the window.'
'I am a Wizard, Not a Witch.'
'I hear a lot of cackling,...'
'Must. Not. Transform. Everyone. Into. Newts.'
'Becaaaaauuuse,...?'
'Even if I COULD, I musn't,... Right?'
'Sure. Keep telling yourself that.'
'Maybe just ONE?'
'THAT'S the spirit!'

Alerra and Chadra climb down the narrow tunnel mouth the tunnel is cramped, only about five feet high. It’s a long fraught journey out, but the group eventually ends up in an empty house. There is no feeling anyone lies in wait.
Outside the small suburb this house is in has been fought over. There are many houses burned or turned to rubble. Alerra looks at the group
“We go into dangerous territory. Prepare yourself as you see fit”
If you have buffs or things this is the pause
Hamar of the Hyena Tribe |
The Scout draws his blades, that is all the preparation he needs.
Blayze |
Closing her eyes for a moment, Blayze utters a prayer, a gossamer curtain of golden light settling on her before fading into nothingness, though to Alessia, the Holy Gunslinger seems to be buzzing with dangerous energy, like a fire, far to hot to stand beside.
[ooc] Cast Veil of Positive Energy. +2 to AC and +2 to saves against all attacks from Undead. 110 minute duration.
Justin Case |
Justin makes sure his long -duration spells are running.
All cast now, last 11 hours.
-Elf Lord's Armor? Check,
A pale image of shimmering chainmail with ornate armored joints and a helm settles over the wizard's features before fading away.
-False Life? Check, +HP= 1d10 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16
Justin smiles as he feels, healthier?
-Overland Flight? Check,
The wizard starts to rise from the floor, but quickly settles again.
The wizard draws his blasting rod, and nods his readiness.
Hamar of the Hyena Tribe |
The two Drow head out, inviting Hamar to accompany them at point
1d6
Im assuming Hamar would agree to walk point with the two Drow. The rest of the party I’ll need an idea on how you wish to travel.
Hamar nods and heads out to take the point with the Drow. He grins at them in the darkness and whispers,
Dungeon Monkey |
The party heads out of the abandoned village. They come into a bizarre 'farmland' where strnge fungal crops are being grown. Many of there look burnt and trampled. There is a taint of death in the air, and an occasional corpse can be sighted in the field. As they travel, there is a sudden growl from ahead. a pack of odd catlike creatures appear, abandoning a dead drow they had been eating. There are five of them. They are sleek, skinny black-coated felinoids, with two tentacles sprouting from their shoulders
Hamar of the Hyena Tribe |
Hamar has his blades already at the ready.

Hamar holds to allow Justin to "blast" these foes so he is not caught in the middle of the Wizard's powerful magics.

Round 1

OH yeah, toasty cats coming up! (And with a 400'+ range, he can do it from back here!) ;P
With the way they are spread out, I think I can only really hit the top 4 in a fireballed/group, missing the bottom one.
NOTE: CL 11 +4 (E/T/FB/RMF) = CL 15, 15d6+6 if Intensified, +50% dmg w/ Empowered Spellshard [Intensified Fireball, 15d6+6+50%, (or 22d6+9) dmg]
Justin floats upwards slightly to get a clear view of the cat-critters, (5' 'step' upwards w/ overland flight, then draws a sigil of flame with his blasting rod, sticks his rod through the floating, flaming pattern, touches his free hand to his amulet, and says clearly, "Fuego, Maximos!"
targeting: i 34, Dmg: 22d6 + 9 ⇒ (2, 3, 4, 5, 4, 3, 5, 2, 5, 2, 3, 6, 3, 5, 3, 2, 6, 1, 6, 6, 3, 1) + 9 = 89
Justin winces as the flare of the fireball threatens to overpower his magical goggles. With the sudden appearance of the felines, he had let his initial casting instincts of 'Fireball first, ask questions later' take over.
Justin turns to Memnon floating next to him.
"Um,... Too much?"

Round 1
Hamar shrugs after the explosion and rushes forward, bolstered by Merle's Haste. He will charge forward and Rage attacking the foremost foe. Move Forward and end at K30. No Dervish Dance this time as the movement to get to them was pretty far this time!
Hamar Attack Vorpal 1d20 + 14 + 2 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 14 + 2 + 2 + 1 = 23 - Damage 1d6 + 6 + 2 + 1 + 4d6 ⇒ (6) + 6 + 2 + 1 + (6, 1, 5, 4) = 31
Hamar Attack Off-Hand Keen, Planar 1d20 + 13 + 2 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 13 + 2 + 2 + 1 = 28 - Damage 1d6 + 6 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 6 + 2 + 1 = 11
Hamar Attack Vorpal (Haste Attack) 1d20 + 14 + 2 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 14 + 2 + 2 + 1 = 27 - Damage 1d6 + 6 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 6 + 2 + 1 = 13

Is that DC 22?
The miniature mushroom cloud lights up the darkling plain. When it clears there are several charred corpses
Let me know the DC, it's important to determine survivors
Dungeon Monkey |
Just wrapping this up ...
Hamar moves nimbly through the three remaining charred cats, delivering coup de graces with ease. The three burned cats seem almost grateful. The party is left with the smell of burning cat hair in their nostrils
“We will be approached shortly,” Alerra says drily as the party reconvenes. . “Stay vigilant and make no sudden or ...” She stares at Justin “...pyrotechnic actions”
Merle Barer |
Two of the five cats are roasted. The others aren’t looking particularly happy. The two Drow look back at the wizard with wide eyes
“Do you wish to announce to the entire Vault that we are here?” Chadra hisses
"Yeah well what do you expect from a wizzrreooghhh." As seph nips her tail.
Justin Case |
Justin holds up empty hands with a wide-eyed look.
"Sorry. Reflex." he says sincerely to the drow.
"It was the perfect shot! They were lined up! It was as good as the set up they gave us when we first arrived at the Kasshta demiplane! Better!" The wizard explains plaintively, if almost silently, to the Rose crew. Those that listen anyway.
Justin winks at Seph behind Merle's back. And smiles as the kitten rolls his eyes and shakes his head at the lanky wizard.
'Seph's smarter than most of us, and probably wiser than all of us too. Kid's gonna make a great wizard one day.'
Dungeon Monkey |
The two Drow shake their heads
“Let us hope we don’t come across a giant rat or spider in our journey “
The party travels along , heading into a darkling plain of weird farmland and giant mushroom forests. Suddenly, a voice calls out
Drow
Alerra and Chadra palaver back and forth with the unseen speaker. Suddenly, a squad of Drow emerge from invisibility by the forest. They warily approach. They are accompanied by a dozen gleaming-white bone skeletons, eyes blazing. The skeletons look odd - they jitter and twitch in a most unseemly fashion.
The leader, a tall female in mithril chain talks to Alerra and Chadra in Drow, then turns to the party and speaks in accented Common
“Your guides say you need to speak with Erehe. They say you have valuable information. We can take you, but you must surrender your weapons snd assent to having your hands tied”
Justin Case |
Justin looks at their drow guides,
"Just curious, is this level of security normal? Or do we rate special safety measures?" He asks politely.
The wizard glances at Karrin, Then bows slightly to the tall drow leader of the security party.
"We do, indeed, need to speak with Erehe. And we DO have valuable information for him, personally. We thank you for allowing us to see him."
Justin fidgets slightly. "Your security measures are thorough, and understandable. While I appreciate that you are not going to accept my word for it, we promise that none of us have any intention towards Erehe except to discuss a matter of mutual importance. And I submit myself for any magical test you wish to prove my words are true."
"I personally feel this matter important enough that I am willing to agree to your terms. And I think most of my companions will as well. Some of the,... ah, weapons might not be so obliging,..."
Hamar of the Hyena Tribe |
Hamar looks to the body language of their Drow guides, if they seem nervous the Barbarian will hand over his swords, through their eye sockets...
Dungeon Monkey |
"I personally feel this matter important enough that I am willing to agree to your terms. And I think most of my companions will as well. Some of the,... ah, weapons might not be so obliging,..."
The leader frowns
“This is not an option. We are not negotiating. Surrender your weapons, submit to the manacles or be off. We will bring no serpents to our leader”
Hamar of the Hyena Tribe |
Hamar nods to Chadra and Alerra.
He re-sheathes his two scimitars and removes them from his belt, he then unhooks the scimitar from his back, pulls the long bow he dropped on the ground along with his quiver which is mostly full of arrows.
"This all I wield", he states the tall Drow female emphatically as he hols some of his most prized possessions in his hands. He is still winded from his rage but does his best not to show it.
His face remains neutral but the Barbarian is less than pleased with the development, Bad enough we are in a foe city and now not even with the small weapons which would allow for a glorious battle death as with so many foes, if they wished us dead, there is no way forward.
Justin Case |
Justin purses his lips, and nods.
"OK then."
The wizard removes his bandolier with the apparently-empty scabbard attached. He holds it out to the drow.
'This is the respect we get for trying to save the multi-verse! I swear this is the LAST time!,...' He grumbles mentally to himself.
Justin leans close to Karrin,
"Is, your friend, going to be a problem?" He whispers.
Justin Case |
Justin swiftly hides a smirk.
'Trust Merle to find a second option.'
The wizard clears his throat gently as he extends his wrists to accept the fine chains.
"I'm sure it will be fine. We just need to talk to Erehe, and they just need to take precautions. We'll all get along famously. Right?" Justin says in his best 'I'm friendly and harmless' voice.
"If, on the other hand, you and any others would prefer to wait here,..." Justin glances at Karrin. (Or more specifically, her axe)
",... Then you could guard our weapons and wait for us here. This shouldn't take long. Either way." Justin adds casually.
Alessia of Keoland |
Dungeon Monkey wrote:"Fine with me. How about I wait here and watch the stuff?"The Drow leader shrugs
“You wish to enter our camp. If you do not, do whatever, just do not follow us”
Alessia's posture stiffens with distrust, her hand on the hilt of her sword.
"I will not be disarmed in this place. I will stay also."
