"Aye. You're probably the blood for the job- if she is just a little girl, she'll probably rattle her bonebox to an elven woman more than... well, it's easier for her teh relate to you, right?"
She nodded, and made her way towards the spot Ekuur had said the Seed sensed the presence of the elven girl.

As Nari approaches the stand of trees, there is a rustling sound. A young elven girl, long auburn hair wrapped into a tight braid with silver wire emerges. The elf woman wears a set of soft-looking leather pants and a matching cropped top, exposing a tanned taut midriff. A brilliant gem is affixed to her brow by a narrow silver circlet. A hand rests on the head of a large silver-colored ferret in the crook of her arm. She speaks in a stern tone .

Nari suppressed a shudder. On of these years she was going to have to get past this unthinking fear of her own kind. She stopped and in spite of her fears looked the girl in the eye as she spoke.
Elven
"My apologies if we trespass, my lady, but we were uncertain who was following us. We are here on an errand only and mean no harm to you and yours."

The young woman frowns and replies
Elven: ** spoiler omitted **
Elven:
"I am afraid I am not at all familiar with the local geography. This is a different prime material plane than the one I was born on. We are here because there is a problem with Yggdrasil. An infection of some sort. We were sent here to find a priestess who holds an artifact that could cure that infection. We were charged with protecting something she would be willing to trade for it. We have no ill intentions towards you or your world. We only wish to help Yggdrasil and our friends who live there."

The woman walks out of the bushes. Her ferret looks at Nari with ice blue eyes, long black-furred ears cocked forward.
Elven:
The woman seems wary, but less afraid. She cocks her head at Nari.

*blink, blink*
Her amber eyes went wide with mild panic as she tried to figure out what any of those names meant.
Elven:
"Yggdrasil is the World Ash. It is an astonishingly large tree that connects to all of the different planes. And if it sickens further, that sickness will start to spread to all of the different planes. The portal that brought us from Yggdrasil to here is high up in that tree we climbed down from."
"And Sigil is a city, a large magnificent city. They call it the city of doors because it's full of portals to other planes, and those portals are always moving and changing."
"As for what we seek....I think it was called the Crysagmir. Do you know where to find it?"
She watched the woman's face nervously, knowing she had taken a risk, but she hadn't sensed any hostility or danger from her so far.

At Nari's words, the young woman looks about
Elven:
The woman steps to Nari, and extends her hand in greeting. Her silver-and-black-furred ferret scampers down her and vanishes into the underbrush. Nari can smell a clean scent of sun and grass coming off the woman. Although she looks young, Nari can tell by certain signs that she is not truly all that low in years.
Elven:
The woman looks around at the rest of the party, and along down the hill.
Elven:

Nari nodded.
Elven:
Nari darts back to the rest of the group as quickly as she can.
"Her name is Jena and her grandmother is the priestess we were sent here to find. She has offered to lead us to her grandmother's temple in Hanalindali. But she wants us to hurry because she's seen path sign of an Ice Spider and its minions."
She took a breath and looked at Isaac since he was in charge now. "I didn't sense any harm in her. I might be wrong, but I believe we can trust her."
She hesitated and then decided to speak again. "I would ask that you all treat her with respect and not address her as a child. She is not a child. She appears younger than she is."

"Okay" Merle nods before making her way towards Jena Seph in tow "I'm Merle and this is Seph pleased to meet you."
I am assuming in Planar Common?
The Elven woman cocks her head at Merle as she approaches. She turns to Nari when Merle talks
Elven:
Karrin Kind
"Hey I'm Karrin Kind," the tiefling says in excellent elven, "I'm a duskblade, totally elven trained, but I haven't spent a lot of time with elves so if I make any faux pas just let me know. I mean I know somethings, I mean I wasn't raised in a cave or anything, I was actually raised in a human monastery, which is kind of a long story, but ya, I know humans better then elves."
Naridre Ro'Arisahshe
Elven:
"My feline friend was simply introducing herself. Her name is Merle. I will tell the others that you don't speak common. Luckily several of us speak elven."
The edges of her mouth quirked just a little as if she were suppressing a smile at Merle's outburst.
"Jena doesn't speak common, so those of you who don't speak elven will have to ask someone who does to translate for you if you need to speak with her."

While Merle apparently has a mild breakdown and seeing that turning to his humanoid form wouldent help him communicate with her any easier (that and not wanting to reveal to much to a complete stranger) Seph simply jumps onto Nari's shoulder and offers his paw to shake.

Nari put her hand over her mouth to stifle a giggle.
Feline:
"It seems so. Merle gets a little hung up on appearances sometimes. Though in all fairness, she's been getting a lot better about that."
To Jena:
Elven:
Karrin Kind
"Wait since when could you speak elven?????" Merle speaks as if her entire fragile world is shattering at this reveleation
"Oh I can speak all sorts of languages," Karrin says, "Elven, Draconic, Infernal, Orcish," Karrin says counting her fingers as she lists her languages, "oh and common of course. I usually pick them up pretty easily, Torreen said it was cuz I was smart or something, but I think he was teasing me."
Naridre Ro'Arisahshe
"Merle?" she asked softly, gently taking Merle's arm, "Would you mind very much stepping over here? There's something I'd like to talk to you about and it seems that Isaac and Karrin are perfectly capable of handling translating duties for a bit."
She gently pulled a stunned Merle over to the edge of the group.

The young woman looks a bit discomfitted as the party crowds about her. She puts her two fingers in her mouth and blows a complex whistle out. A group of green-clad elven men with wicked-looking longbows emerge from the area behind them.
Elven:
She turns to the party as introductions are made
Elven:
She turns to Issac and her solid-blue eyes look into his more mundane orbs
Elven:
She looks at the party and motions the four elves over. They approach. Three are silver-haired and green eyed, another is auburn-haired like Jena. Unlike Jena he has solid black eyes.
Elven:
The three silver-haired elves bow slightly, but their eyes remain watchful.
Elven:
The tall auburn-haired elf speaks, looking at the party with distaste.
Jena looks hurt
Elven:
The tall elf frowns, and absently fingers his bow's riser

Isaac holds his hands foreward to show they remain empty.
Elven:
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Oof. Maybe I accidentally spoke goblin.
Rhiannon d'Deneith
"Probably because now that introductions have been made, the rules of hospitality forbid it."
"It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance. I am Rhiannon, newest member of the group. Should you have any questions about human's I'd be happy to oblige."
Justin Case
Still busy, but still semi-sane. Mostly. ;P
Justin tries, semi-successfully, to hide a smirk at Merle's reaction to the fact almost everyone in the party, except her, speaks elvish. Even Karrin. Having decided that Karrin was both a lot smarter, and more dangerous, than she looked, he relaxes visibly at Nari's swift interaction with Merle before the flabbergasted feline said something she would regret.
'Not that it ever stopped me,...' he muses as he bows to the elves and also addresses then in elvish. His pronunciation is nearly flawless, but his accent plainly reveals that he learned it from a non-native speaker.
Elvish:
"Greetings to you all. I am Justin. I also assure you that we mean no harm, and that all is as Nari and Isaac have explained. We are merely here to trade for the item as we have said, and shall raise no spell or blade while here except in self-defense."
"I beg your pardon Master Maelrin, but I'm only recently begun Planar travel myself, and I'm afraid that I at least have no knowledge of either this Ice Spider or the Winter Queen you mention. Perhaps you would be so kind as to explain the current situation? We would hate to make a public faux-paux due to local politics."
Justin smiles pleasantly, looking at the elves almost expectantly.
Naridre Ro'Arisahshe
"You have got to be kidding me.....Am I the only person here who can't speak a word of elvish?" Merle sounds more than a little annoyed but with a slight hint of something else perhaps envy.
"I can teach you if you like. It's only fair since you and Seph taught me to speak feline. But I'm afraid it will take time. Still, you do have the advantage over humans of being able to hear the entire register, so you'll have much less of an accent. Probably."
Merle Barer

Merle seems genuinly pleased at the offer but attempts to cover it up with bravado (poorly) "Oh well If you feel you can."
Karrin Kind
"It's really easy Merle," Karrin says, "and is a really beautiful language. Torreen used to read me poetry and stuff and so many words rhyme that it was like story telling only you could sing it. Really cool. It's not like Infernal, that's kind of an ugly language, I really hate speaking it cuz it's really hard to fit my thoughts into it. Like did you know that everything fits into a kind of structure and if you don't follow that structure you've got improper word use and stuff and things get confusing . . . though it's really good at legal stuff, like one of the monks tried to teach me some of the local laws so I wouldn't get into trouble or something? Well anyways it was really easy for me as long as I translated what was in that book into infernal first, but I think that's cuz I'm a natural speaker. Like I don't even remember learning to speak it but I sometimes think to myself in that language, epically when I'm pissed off at things, like stupid Isaac bossing everyone around like some kind of dictator, but that's usually it. I prefer thinking in common when I want to organize my thoughts because it allows me to think laterally, if you know what I mean? I guess Infernal is my angry language, but Orcish has way more curse words in it, if you want to insult someone, or get into a fight, and the other person speaks orcish, I really recommend Orcish! Really fun."
Isaac
Isaac quickly rounds on the ladies, for once actually barking orders.
"Cutters! Bar that! Rattle yer boneboxes when we ain't on sodding business!"
More smoothly, he returns to the party's hosts.

Oof. Maybe I accidentally spoke goblin.
Remember Issac, 'firendiel no turgaran' means 'we are strangers to your world' in Elvish where you said 'firendiol no turmagan' which translates into 'You mother was a strumpet' =D Ahh linguist humor ..
Maelrin looks askance at Issac
"What ARE you? You look vaguely Hanalindrim, but thick. Are you some sort of construct?"
He turns to Nari
"Is this person your servant? Why does he address me, a noble of House Garadian like a common churl?"
