You may both simply return back to the main hall with the others, no checks required.

N/PCs: Aliseya, Christoph, Istivan, Naught, Rhia, Sookie, and Zelda.

Zelda and Christoph make their way back to the main hall, rejoining the others. Heading the down hall, you open the wooden door to the north.

Another thirty-foot-diameter chamber is behind this door. It seems to be infested with various fungi that cling to every surface. The broken remains of an iron walkway juts from the water below, also now infested with fungi. Another door stands high up the wall to your right, about 20 ft. away from your doorway. Below you at the water's surface are a pair of twin doors.

Christoph and Rhia revealed to the companions on peering into this chamber the last time that three plant creatures, a pair of violet fungi and a basidrond, lurk within this chamber (you may all read the two Knowledge (nature) spoilers in this post).

Christoph still has Rhia's levitate spell active for about another three minutes at this point.

Before anyone can answer her, a smiling Zelda flings one of her flasks at the nearest plant creature. It shatters against the ground just beside one of the violet fungi, bursting into flame and singeing just a bit of its pointed cap.

And with that, all three of the overgrown and eyeless vegetables stir and, you somehow sense, now "look" back up at you...

Schloss Caromarc (after Midnight)
N/PCs: Aliseya, Christoph, Istivan, Naught, Rhia, Sookie, and Zelda.

Round One

Caught off guard by Zelda's slight pyromania, Christoph's arrows skewer a pair of mushrooms to either side of the singed fungus creature. As the plant creatures turn to face the threat, however, Rhia's bolt and Istivan's arrow pierce the same singed fungus. Unsure of what to do from the rear and out of line-of-sight with the chamber, Sookie remains at the ready.

Uprooting themselves from the dirt and rot at the base of the chamber, both violet fungi twist around to face their assailants. Moving at a snail's pace, they approach them, one close enough to near the chamber's wall, directly 30 ft. beneath the companions above.

The basidrond as well unwinds its roots and twists to approach the companions. Faster than the other fungi, it moves at a halfling's pace towards the same wall beneath the companions. Directly beneath the party, its capped fungal hood appears to "look up" at you, bestowing you with a sense of foreboding.

Round Two begins. You may all post your actions.

Bless is active on everyone for the next 7 minutes. Levitate is still active on Christoph for a few more minutes.

Note that only three of you may fire at the plant creatures below from the main hall (K9). The doorway into the chamber is 5 ft., and the creatures are either 30 ft. directly below that doorway or approaching that. I'll assume that the first 3 of you to post a ranged attack can get in: one is in the doorway, two are flanking that one and squeeze in to shoot.

Round Two

From the rear, Istivan's charming voice lifts the spirits of the group as he recollects the heroic deeds of Anthelo.

Rhia's bolt sinks into the fungal flesh.

Naught then clocks the singed violet fungus with her first pebbly shot, leaving a hole in its pointed cap. Aliseya affects her love with a protective prayer.

Twin arrows then reign down on the same fungus from the Speaker's bow. They skewer the oversized mushroom, pinning its shattered form to the ground.

The remaining plant creatures continue their approach. Undaunted, they climb the chamber wall to reach their prey. The slower violet fungus makes it 2.5 ft. up the wall (27.5 ft. away). The basidrond makes it 5 ft. up the wall (25 ft. away).

Round Three begins. You may all post your actions. The first violet fungus is down; one more fungus plus the basidrond remain.

Note that only Christoph, Naught, and Rhia have line of sight to see the plant creatures; noone else can see them from where they are standing in the hall. You may swap places with an agreeable party member if you wish to have line of sight. A chill runs down Istivan's spine. He's got a bad feeling about something behind him...

With the others in front, he turns to see Aliseya... and does a double-take. Her eyes glow murderous blood red. Sullen and sunken, her face has aged 80 years. Her skin is a shade of sickly yellowish-green. What were long normal fingernails now look more like raptor's claws, the wilted green-hued hands of an old crone. The stench of fetid swamp waters now enters his nostrils.

As the abyss stares back at him, the crone's bones audibly crack and pop most disturbingly as her neck twists sideways, contorting most unnaturally. A vicious smile comes over her horrid face, revealing rows of sharp canines. Breathing a raspy sigh, a gravely voice speaks dark syllables to the surprised performer.

"Br'shan, ya mgepnah nyth'drn. Y'ah Yewanda. Ymg'athg, ephaiahnyth ya vulgtmnah..."

Amid the disturbing sight, a thought occurs to him. The dark sensation of fear he now feels reminds him of what he felt from the agent of the Way he'd met earlier today, back at Judge Daramid's manor...

Aliseya casts cause fear on Istivan; having more than 6 HD, he is immune though.

The remaining violet fungus takes a good pelting, between Rhia's bolt, Naught's bullet, and Christoph's arrow. The creature nearly falls to the ground, but hangs on.

Until, that is, when Zelda slides in and fires the fatal shot. The fungal creature falls to the ground, motionless beside the other dead fungus.

As he comes to a stop midair in the center of the chamber, Christoph realizes he's not quite sure how to get back, with nothing to push off of.

Istivan continues to inspire his new companions with a moving tribute to the heroism of Anthelo. Though the sight of Aliseya's alter ego for the first time causes him grave concern, he remains strong and holds his tune. But he wonders what's happened to the young woman, and whether she is now a threat he should deal with...

Undaunted, the basidrond continues to climb...

Round Four begins. You may all post your actions. Both violet fungi are down. Only the basidrond remains: it's now 15 ft. away from you (15 ft. from the ground).

Christoph has no time to ponder the strange threads of fate that have lead him here and with these unusual companions. Instead he's focused only on the elimination of the remaining threat. Despite his increasing instability in flight, he looses arrows with furious speed. He begins to softly spin in mid air.

Istivan is alarmed at Aliseya's appearance, at first fearing she has been somehow injured or cursed. His alarm only grows when, despite not being able to understand her words, she clearly cast some spell on him.

It was only the mild reactions of the other companions and the sort of relaxed way in which they said "she does that sometimes" which allowed him to keep his focus and not transition to viewing her as a new potential threat.

"Uh sure, I suppose you can call me Iz" he answered Sookie

"How's our horticultural situation working out up there guys?"

For now, probably just best to ignore Aliseya till she regains her other personality he thought.

Round Four

Distracted by talk of minions, Naught's next bullet flies wide of the basidrond as it continues to ascend.

Zelda's arrow rings true however, striking the creature in its cap. A translucent puff emits from the wound.

Another arrow strikes true from the levitating Christoph. As he begins whirling in midair, his next arrow hits the wall a few feet from it.

Rhia's bolt misses as well, striking one of the already-dead fungi below.

The basidrond ascends another ten feet, closing into melee range with Rhia, Zelda, and Naught.

Round Five begins. You may all post your actions. The basidrond is now 5 ft. below you (25 ft. from the ground). For combat details, please read the Active Conditions and Spell Effects spoilers below.

Active Conditions:
Line of Sight. Only Rhia, Naught, Zelda, and Christoph have line of sight with the creature.
Cover. Though the creature is now in melee range with Rhia, Naught, and Zelda, they and the creature now benefit from mutual cover (both ranged and melee attacks): +4 to AC, +2 to Reflex saves, no AoO's, etc.. Christoph is not impeded by cover from his position, though.
Tumbling. Christoph is now mildly tumbling in midair due to shooting while levitating. He now has a -3 penalty to attack rolls, which increases by -1 per attack (-5 max); he can take a full round action to stabilize (return back to a -1 penalty).

Active Spell Effects:
Bless (+1 morale bonus on attack rolls and on saving throws vs fear effects) is active on everyone for the next 6.7 minutes.
Inspire Courage (+2 competence bonus to Attack and Damage rolls, +2 morale bonus vs fear and charm effects) is active on everyone while Istivan continues singing.
Levitate is still active on Christoph for the next 2.3 minutes.
Shield of Faith (+3 deflection bonus to AC) is active on Naught for the next 6.8 minutes.

Round Five

The basidrond reaches the companions. Its form begins to bloat, a dire warning of what is about to be unleashed...

Before it can do so, Naught tears deeply into its fungal flesh. The now full-on spinning Speaker as well manages to strike it once from above. His arrow pierces straight through its skull cap, leaving a gaping crack. As strange spores begin to emerge from the crack, Zelda looses her arrow, tearing half the already cracked cap from its body, sending it flying across the chamber. Both parts of the basidrond fall in unison to the bottom of the chamber, splashing in the few feet of dirty water below. A trail of spores follows both halves.

As the air clears, the companions breathe a sigh of relief as the three defeated plant creatures lie in a motionless heap right below them at the base of the chamber. Relief... except for Christoph, that is. For he now begins to taste his earlier dinner as he continues spinning round and round above the chamber. But the Speaker then stretches out his arms and legs, using air friction to eventually stabilize in the air once more.

Believing the most dangerous threats are now dealt with, the companions take in the sight of this chamber again. As your nostrils also point out, the thirty-foot-diameter chamber is infested with various fungi that cling to every surface. The broken remains of an iron walkway juts from the water below, also now infested with fungi. Another door stands high up the wall to your right, about 20 ft. away from your doorway. Below you at the water's surface are a pair of twin doors.

Combat is over! As a reminder, only Rhia can move Christoph vertically. Being in the middle of the chamber without anything to grab hold of though, he cannot currently move himself horizontally without magical or mundane assistance (i.e. a rope).

Botting Zelda.

Aliseya relaxes as she transforms back into the young and beautiful dancer. Alerted to attention by Naught's disgust, she puts her hands on her hips and gives her a half smile.

Stepping forward, she recites a new Varisian verse. Green effervescence envelopes Naught's hands: it feels like bubbles are gently scrubbing them. When the mist dissipates, her hands are perfectly clean, her nails shiny.

"Curățați și frecați, ștergeți și străluciți. Nu am timp, Desna te rog curata-l asa."

Speak Varisian:
"Cleanse and rub, wipe and shine. Haven't the time, Desna please clean it so."

Aliseya casts prestidigitation on Naught.

Stomach still churning, Christoph surveys the room as he tries to decide how best to proceed. I'm ready to be done with this tower. He gestures towards the double doors below the rest of the party. "I can take a look if I can be lowered and towed towards the wall."

Fetching a rope from his pack, he ties one end to his waist and tosses the other coiled end to Rhia.

Istivan, as discretely as possible, cast prestidigitation on himself to clean up the sweat and after-effects of combat. Looking up from this task, he barely kept himself from bursting out laughing to see the Speaker towed along by Rhia like a little girl with a Ballon. He imagined the Speaker would not find the comparison as amusing.

He looks to Aliseya, who appears to have returned to normal. "So...red eyes, the aging routine, creepy language... What's up with that?" he asks.

"Ooof!" Ali exhales as Naught squishes her. Giggling and returned hugging follow suit.

Looking back at Istivan's obvious (to her own keen sense, at least) hilarity at the Speaker's expense, she turns to see what he's reacting to.

"Hah-ommf!" She involuntarily bursts out in a moment of laughter before quickly smacking her mouth shut. She looks away, innocent and wide-eyed, slight embarrassment showing in her red cheeks. She hopes beyond hope that Christoph did not hear her.

As Rhia helps the Speaker descend and Istivan questions her, Aliseya waves Naught's concerns aside with a naturally charming smile. "Oh, it's ok. I don't mind."

It takes the lovely young woman a moment to ponder how, exactly, to explain what has taken her an extraordinary series of unlikely and extreme experiences since her first visit to Ravengro to comprehend. And even now, she still has so much more to learn about herself...

"Well... yeah, that kinda happens when I'm, like, stressed out. My, uh, mom, I guess... she was, is, apparently, a hag? Hideous creature. Green and sickly skin. She totally needs like a serious makeover. Serious. And lots of therapy. Anyway, I didn't know that til, like, a couple of days ago? I was told that my real mom was a loving person who died when I was an infant. But... I guess, apparently not. My dad was a really wonderful and loving human being, though! He... he raised me well..."

A distant look comes over her face for a moment here.

"So... I, uh, kinda have this other, personality? From my mother, I guess. Her creepy witchy voice is in my head, like, ALL the time."

She rolls her eyes here in disgust before continuing.

"And she kinda comes out, manifests. Sometimes. Not all the time. So, like, you know?"

She shrugs, hoping Istivan understands her better than she can articulate after midnight, low on caffeine and sleep, and getting slap happy after witnessing Rhia's new Speaker float.

Istivan's knowledge of the arcane does not serve him here. However:

Knowledge (local) vs DC 20 or Knowledge (nature) vs DC 15:
From Aliseya's account, and based on what you've glimpsed of her, as well as of her alter ego a moment ago, you begin to suspect that she might be a changeling. Changelings are the offspring of hags and their lovers taken through magic or madness. Dropped off on doorsteps of prospective foster parents, changelings are usually raised by strangers. Typically tall, slender, dark haired, and attractive, changelings otherwise resemble their fathers’ race. They are always female, and their mismatched colored eyes and abnormally pale skin hint at their true heritage. At puberty, changelings receive “the call,” a hypnotic spiritual voice that beckons them to travel and discover their true origins. Changelings who ignore this call choose their own destiny; those who heed it discover their “mother” and may come into great power by transforming into hags themselves.

As Aliseya described the woman she met as a "hideous creature" with "green and sickly skin," you suspect her mother may have been a green hag more specifically. Terrifying crones known to haunt foul swamps and tangled forests, green hags harbor an intense hatred for all beauty and purity. Making use of their varied deceptive abilities, these crones delight in murdering innocents, unhinging noble minds, and debasing the pure of heart. They are particularly fond of using disguise self to assume the forms of alluring young maidens and then seducing young men away from their lovers or families. In this form, they can infect such noble and upstanding citizens with all manner of debauchery and scandal. Some green hags prefer to reveal their true natures to their lovers at a moment precisely engineered to drive the man mad with horror and shame. Others drag out their dalliances and do what they can to utterly ruin the lives of the men they seduce before showing the broken shell that remains the truth. In the end, the luckiest of these unfortunate lovers end up being eaten by their green hag companions—for the unlucky, their final doom can be much worse, for the cruel imagination of the green hag is vast.

If you succeed on the DC for knowledge (local), you know that changelings possess humanoid traits. If you beat the DC by 5, you know some of the abilities of changelings; if you beat the DC by 10, you know more or less all of their abilities.

If you succeed on the DC for knowledge (nature), you know that all hags possess monstrous humanoid traits. If you beat the DC by 5, you know some of the abilities of green hags; if you beat the DC by 10, you know more or less all of their abilities.

Sense Motive (DC 15):
You sense that Aliseya is completely genuine and honest in her explanation. Her disgust for her hag mother, and especially for the voice she says she hears all the time in her head (!) is also genuine.

From her change in tone and body language while mentioning her father, you also get the impression that tragedy struck him. He probably passed away, and not too long ago either, you surmise.

Schloss Caromarc (after Midnight)
N/PCs: Aliseya, Christoph, Istivan, Naught, Rhia, Sookie, and Zelda.

Rhia is able to catch Christoph's rope. She pulls her new Speaker balloon in as her ancestors lower him to the base of the chamber. As the ground is flooded a few feet with cold, murky brine, the ancestors opt to hover the Speaker a few inches above the waterline.

Levitating right before the double doors below, the Speaker puts his ear to one of the doors and listens. Other than hearing the faint sounds of water ripples in the next room (probably also flooded like the rest of the first floor of these four towers), he hears nothing more.

But he does smell something gods-awful coming through the crack between the doors. The fungal odor in this chamber is unpleasant enough. But something's rotten in the next chamber. Really rotten...

If Christoph insists on dropping a few more feet into the waist-high brine, we can assume Rhia's ancestors oblige him.
