Modern cars are designed with crumple zones to keep you safe and absorb the energy of a collision. As such the car will apparently fold up like paper, but the important bits with you in them will be OK, and so will you. I'm guessing you were all belted up, as unbelted you could have been thrown around inside and injured.

Reminds me of my mate who put his Jag off the Motorway at 75mph..car a write off him iunscratched they build those things like tanks.
