PC/NPC - Natanja |

In the pre-dawn hours of the early morning, Natanja steps out onto the front porch of the Green Tree Inn and notices Aeryth, Lesith, Sister Azmaria, Marius, and Rex patrolling nearby.
She waves them over and inside the Inn. They join her and the others in the side room downstairs to discuss the current situation.
Natanja addresses Aeryth, Lesith, Sister Azmaria, and Marius, as she brings them into the side room to join the others' discussion.
"Cousins, has your nighttime vigil been as quiet as ours?
It seems those who dreampt had another vision, and a rude awakening.
We will likely be headed to Resplendent, the Capital city, very shortly.
Angelina may be in some trouble there, along with the rest of the people.
We are currently discussing the manner of our departure, and whether we should send some sort of message ahead."
You can stop the spoiler tags since everyone is together now.
Questions raised thus far but not fully resolved:
-Do you take the time to sell your mules and cart and buy faster horses instead? Or do you stick with mules and cart, possibly buying a second cart so more people can sleep in it along the way and guard at night? Keep in mind, you will have to rest several times along the journey. I'm afraid Father Peter is not capable of just teleporting your group to Resplendant.
-Do you talk to Captain Ronald, Father Peter, or The Lord Mayor before you go? If so, what do you ask or say?
-Do you try to find out if you can purchase a Sending from somewhere in Vigilant to send a message ahead? If so, to whom do you send this message, and what does it say?

*Arabeth* |

Arabeth nods, "Indeed, having horses will allow us to move faster and speed would seem to be of the essence once again. What temples and people do we know of in the Capital city that we might send word to them? I also add my voice, vote to asking the town's Captain and the Lord Mayor to also send word to bolster our warnings."
Arabeth will put forwards the money she has towards the current venture.

Cernan the Patient |

Cernan only has a mule, although he came with it.

Sister Azmaria |

ok caught up my reading... had to violate my rule and read spoilers for things I was not there but through super powerful paladin magic I know everything as if I was there. I even watched your dreams but could not interact.... sorry but its the best way I can explain the sudden revelation of knowledge without making you guys repeat the entire conversation.
Also Azmaria will probably be going through some serious emotional problems once she starts to realize some things about Angelina, but we can deal with that if or when that happens
Asmaria has no horse nor mount of any kind.

Brit "Chap" Norgant |

"Old Lucky, the pack mule you all bought me. I'd hate to give him up, but I'm sure someone would pay a valuable coin towards funding of horses." Chap smacks her lips and smiles, "For what its worth."

Marius Rizallo |

"Sending a message ahead would be wise. Perhaps a courier bird, if they are available here in Vigilant. I've seen some fellows have great success with such things, though I've never tried it myself." Marius turns towards Natanja and raises an eyebrow at Oko. "Unless Oko cares to volunteer for the task," he laughs.
Marius has no transportation of his own, so he'd be relying on whatever mules/carts we have as a collective.

Alice Treekeep |

When some of you tell Innkeeper Alice Treekeep that you're headed to Resplendent and ask if she has any contacts there, she responds...
"The Capital? Why, yes, my Aunt Berta Bethel runs an Inn there: The Talking Turtle. Cheap but safe accommodations, and a lively bar. Sure, I can write you a letter of introduction. I hope everything's alright!"

Max Gelthis |

When some of you go tell Max Gelthis that you're headed to Resplendent and ask if he has any contacts there, he responds ...
"Well, yes. My cousin Gerry lives in the Capital city. He's a writer: scribe, columnist, journalist. Gerald Gelthis. Works at the Dripping Quill Gazette. He'd be a good one to know what's going on around town. And, yes, I'd be happy to write a note recommending that he help you learn the ropes of the city. You saved Gina, after all. I only wish there was something more I could do for you."

Father Peter |

When some of you go tell Father Peter that you're headed to Resplendent and ask if he has any contacts there, he responds...
"Well, the Grand Cathedral of St. Pelor is located in Resplendent. I suppose I could write a letter to our Pope about what you've discovered. I've only met him once, but we have corresponded a couple times, and I imagine he'll probably remember me. I'll mention your role in slaying the fiends and saving the girl in the letter, which you can deliver to the Cathedral, and Pope Gregory might want to meet you. What's that? A sending to let him know you're coming and that fiends were involved in Endurant's destruction? Hm. Yes, that would probably be worth the cost. I'll see what I can do. Fare well. Go with God's grace and light!"

Sister Azmaria |

Sister Azmaria goes to speak with Father Peter.
she pulls out her journal and removes some pages that she has been making some notes on. it is actually a letter. she hands it to father peter.
Father Peter, could please, if possible, send this to The Holy Order of the Didache in York. it is urgent that mother superior gets this information to the Council of Saints.
she makes sure that the destination is clear, then she recalls something, Oh, feel free to share this with Pope Gregory. I am sure that my order will want to get in touch with him before taking any action.
Azmaria is ready to answer any questions as well.

Captain Ronald of Vigilant |

When some of you go tell Captain Ronald that you're headed to Resplendent and ask if he has any contacts there, he responds...
"Not close ones. I've lived in Vigilant all my life. I do, however, know of the head of Theramark's military by reputation and have corresponded with him several times. General Garrund is known to be a ... strong man with strong opinions. However, if you'd like, I can write a letter of introduction for you, explaining the evidence you've shown me, in hopes of making his strong opinion toward you a more positive one. In fact, I'd be happy to return your bag of... evidence. I appreciate your warning us about this threat, and wish you well in your quest to crush its source!"

Lord Mayor Vertin of Vigilant |

When some of you go to tell Lord Mayor Vertin that you're headed to Resplendent and ask if he has any contacts there, you, at first, have a hard time getting an audience. However, with persistence, persuasion, and some time, you are eventually seen by the Lord Mayor.
"What's that? Yes, I've already sent word to some in the Capital that Hawkthorne seems to be dead and Endurant destroyed. What? You want a letter of recommendation from me? Well, I hardly know you! I suppose I could write a letter explaining the news you brought me and verifying that you were the bearers of that news. Yes, fine, I'll do that. To whom should you take it? Well, there's always the Lord Mayor."
A nasty smirk crosses his sharp features as he considers this possibility.
"Yes, I'm sure Lord Mayor Lincoln of Resplendent would be thrilled to meet you. What? A sending to let him know you're coming? No. Why would I waste a perfectly good sending on that?"

Father Peter |

Father Peter looks at the pages handed to him by Sister Azmaria.
"My dear, it would take a messenger a long time indeed to actually deliver this letter to York. Would you prefer that I summarize it in a sending or two to your Mother Superior? And, if so, does your group have the means to make a donation to help defray such a cost?"

Elysium "Eli" Blackdun |

"I only wish there was something more I could do for you."
"Well actually..." says Eli, without emotion.
Eli hires him with jewelry to fix the hole in Captain Ronald's roof.

Elysium "Eli" Blackdun |

"Thank you. Your assistance is honored and valuable." Eli says flatly, though bowing deeply.

*Arabeth* |

Arabeth remains polite and calm during the Mayor's exchange, though when the group is alone together she might suggest actually looking at what their 'Contacts' have written about them (Assuming such can be done without breaking official seals etc).
A final hug of consolation, friendship for Gina.
Then Arabeth checks over her gear to see if she might need any small thing to make the coming journey (Race) slightly better.
Some more food bought with her amount. An idea for storing things also posted in discussion.
Other than that Arabeth will flit about trying to help others about their business in town.
Random Diplomacy roll:1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
Random Diplomacy roll:1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17(Yes, she will be listening to/for gossip as well, hence the two different numbers)
Random Knowledge local roll:1d20 + 0 ⇒ (18) + 0 = 18 (Untrained... since she's not actually a 'Local'...)

Sister Azmaria |

Father Peter looks at the pages handed to him by Sister Azmaria.
"My dear, it would take a messenger a long time indeed to actually deliver this letter to York. Would you prefer that I summarize it in a sending or two to your Mother Superior? And, if so, does your group have the means to make a donation to help defray such a cost?"
I guess I am the only one with Father Peter then?
Azmaria is a little disappointed until she realizes that this part of the world is not as advanced as York. of course a sending thingy will be fine. and I am sure the Order will have plenty of money to cover the expense, as long as it isn't too much of course.
Azmaria makes some more notes in her book about the request and when it was asked and such things.
thank you so much for your help. but exactly how much is the cost anyway?

Father Peter |

Father Peter responds to Sister Azmaria...
"I'm afraid a magical sending costs 280 gold, Sister, and is limited to a 25-word message. Such instant communication is a valuable thing indeed."
In the discussion thread, Eli has said he'll deduct the necessary 280gp from group funds for this.

Sister Azmaria |

ok cool, but the group funds should be for a message to our destination, Azmaria will use her order's funds (well what she can of her own as well) to send a message back to her order to keep them informed of the situation

PC/NPC - Natanja |

Before you head out from Vigilant, Natanja calls you together.
"Cousins, I have something to tell you: I have decided to remain behind in Vigilant for now. I still worry for the safety of the people here. I would like to assist Captain Ronald in making further preparations for the potential threat, and I would like to be here to offer healing, should the need arise. Also, I would like to follow up with Gina and her Uncle Max, helping them adjust to everything. However, I would like to send someone very special with you..."
Natanja holds out her arm, and her hawk, Oko, hops down from her shoulder.
"Poterol, I am entrusting Oko to your care, for the time being. He cannot carry a message ahead to Resplendant, since he has never been there. However, once you arrive, and determine what the situation is, you can send him back here with a message for me and others here in Vigilant. Then, if I have news to share, I can send him back to try to find you where he last left you."
Oko hops onto Poterol's shoulder.
"Take good care of him."
You're not sure whether she's addressing Poterol or Oko, but Oko gives a caw.
"Farewell, cousins. Be safe. I hope we will meet again."

Elysium "Eli" Blackdun |

Eli takes a step back at her initial words, then nods and waits for her to continue.
After she says her farewells, his masked face looks at the ground for a moment, before looking back up.
In a quick, awkward sort of way, he hugs her.
"Farewell, for now, cousin." he speaks in his normal monotone.
He nods once, then turns and heads to work to set things up well to leave.

*Arabeth* |

Arabeth is saddened by Natanja's decision to part company, though given the circumstances and such she does accept that Nataja's actions are well motivated. She offers the other woman a parting hug, even going so far as to offer a large black feather from her own cloak to Nataja as a parting gift in return.
"Perhaps, should we not be able to visit one another in the future then as our skills and connections with the divine grow we might use such trinkets as a way for our magic to find one another?" Arabeth offers by way of explanation about the parting gift.

Poterol |

Poterol bows at the waist to Natanja, doing his best to keep Oko steady on his shoulder. As he straightens, Merry clambers up to his other shoulder, looks between the hawk and her companion, then chatters a greeting to the fiery bird. "May wisdom guide your path cousin, and the flame guide your sight. Oko shall be as my own Merry while in my company."

since Azmaria is the only one that visited Father Peter I assume that she was given the necessary funds to send this message.
Azmaria pulls a coin pouch out checking the funds that she was given.
I have enough to send the message on to Resplendant, but I am a little short for the second message,I don't suppose there is something I could do to make up the difference?
with her own 140 gold, and Arabeth chipping in 50 gold, that's 90 gold short for her second message back home.
Azmaria tries her best to convince Father Peter to make a small exception on the cost, considering the situation.

Father Peter nods, graciously, at Sister Azmaria.
"Alright, my dear. Considering the situation, I believe my church can cover the difference."
His kindly, worn face crinkles into a slight smile.
"Should you ever find yourself in a position to make a donation in the future, however, I wouldn't turn it down."
He lays a warm hand on Sister Azmaria's shoulder.
"Don't worry, dear. I'll see that Pope Gregory and your Mother Superior are alerted to the current situation. By God's grace, we shall prevail!"

Sister Azmaria |

Thank you Azmaria smiles.
She heads out with on other stop to make before departing.
Azmaria goes to visit her young charge, Gina.
the others that were there most likely left by now, Azmaria knocks on the door, hoping that she is there.

Sister Azmaria |

As she lifts her hand to knock, the door flies open and Gina wraps Sister Azmaria in a fierce hug.
"Hi!"
Azmaria returns the hug. Hi, I'm glad to see you too.
she asks her to sit down with her.
I came to say goodbye for a bit, well you already knew that I was going on this little mission anyway. but I couldn't leave without seeing you.
Azmaria takes Gina's hand, I sent word to my order, asking permission to train you when you become old enough. of course you don't have to if you don't want to. And until you are old enough, mind your Uncle, be good and, ahhh, remember to eat your vegetables.
Azmaria trying to be like a big sister to little Gina.

Sister Azmaria |

Azmaria laughs a little at the comment, its ok, I don't like them much either, that was something they always told me back home.
Anyway, I have to go, the others are waiting. and when I come back, I will stop over and tell you all about it. ok?

PC/NPC - Lesith |

Before you leave, Lesith, who has been deep in thought since Natanja's announcement, speaks up...
"Cousins, I have made a decision. I, too, will remain here with Captain Ronald to help defend this place and heal the people, if need be. I am better suited here."
Her deep eyes sweep each of yours with a parting look of concern.
"You make haste to the Capital. May God protect you!"
