"Despite my obvious distaste for two of you, you will be safe," as he invokes the old adage “the enemy of my enemy”.

He looks at the gear, "If you agree I'll even be willing to guide into Hagwood to meet with my Mistress." He motions, "Will you need time to do something with these trinkets before going?"

I would be very willing to meet the Mother and discuss vengeance. We will just search this shop since these killers killed someone we knew and gather up the plunder so we can sell it later for gold.

When you enter you find a small smoke shop lit by the dim glow of a lamp hanging from the ceiling. The shop’s walls are decorated with pipes, smoking tobacco, and more exotic wares, while a counter runs across the back and a door beyond leads to a small bedroom. Poor Goren One-Ear has
been pinned, spread-eagle, to the back wall of the shop by a number of long, wicked-looking daggers. Furthermore, the lower half of his face is a bloody mess where his jaw has been brutally torn away—the missing jaw sits on the counter, a smoking pipe perched decoratively on the lip and tongue.

Andrea you have no idea what this scene represents.

I'll wait for a few other rolls before commenting further on the scene and what you find.

OMG! Daniel is stuck in a loop!

I am very bad at riding and I have no idea if horses can travel well in the Hagwood. Dogtongue, is the Hagwood thick?

Maybe Gerard could use it better if he gets into front up combat where he can't backstab?

Gerard you recognize the gruesome scene as and the removal of an individual’s lower jaw is a relatively common method used by organizations like the Council of Thieves to prevent them from being able to provide information, even from beyond the grave, as it prevents a
speak with dead spell from functioning. On closer inspection you see the quieting needs under the skin which prevents raising the dead.

Gerard:
You've heard that if a resurrection spell is used, when there were quieting needles, there is a high probability that the soul will not come back due to the fear involved with the torture. Andrea's earlier boast is looking like hot air if Fiosa has meet with a similar fate.

Andrea you found a loose floor board behind the counter revealing 8 bricks of pesh with a street value of 200GP per brick along with 258 gold pieces.

This is some sick business, dammit. See the missing lower jaw? Prevents them from being helpful if "raised". Also a pretty gruesome warning to others whomight consider talking.

But, look here... closely, under the skin and here. The use of "quieting needles" prevents or makes it less likely the soul or spirit will return, knowing the excruciating pain in store. You don't see this kind of work often.
