Not sure if androids bleed or not by RAW. But since they don't need to breathe, I suppose they wouldn't blood to circulate the oxygen either...
So maybe the beast will just cut off P-4's mains cable next turn :)
Leila Bluetistle
Seeing how this is the boss and all that's probably a good idea.
Astrianna Sparacello
We survived!!!
Who needs healing serums? We have plenty. Just tell me how many you used so I can keep track.
Leila Bluetistle
Now if we finished the book we should probably theoretically be perfectly save so no need for the serums.
On the other hand Leila is exactly one stiff breeze away from falling over again and needing her last precious point of resolve... So yah I do think she'll take one if only for my peace of mind :P

We can rig a tow line :-P
Also - Leila has used one dose of healing serum

Pffft like I'm going to believe the GM that tried to kill us with a flying telepathic life-draining worm-headed monster from an extra-dimensional space highway.

In service for over 100 years, Vagabonds are still regularly used throughout the Pact Worlds as cargo haulers, smuggling ships, and exploratory survey vessels. While a crew of six is the standard complement for the Vagabond, the ship’s coordinated control interface and double redundancies on critical systems were designed to allow a single pilot to operate the vessel with little difficulty.
Utilizing the popular explorer frame, the Vagabond is equipped with a Pulse Green power core, high- grade Dakkar M10-E thrusters, and a Signal Basic Drift drive. Standard armament is a Gorkal broad-arc gyrolaser mounted forward, supplemented by two Reinbach light laser cannons port and starboard. In addition, a turret-mounted Arabani Arms light particle beam projector provides 360-degree offensive capability at intermediate range.
Sanjaval Spaceflight Systems produces a variety of interchangeable service modules, from technomantic laboratories to deluxe guest cabins, all of which can be easily swapped out as needed at any basic spaceport in only a fraction of the time it takes to convert one expansion bay to another on other starships.
I've heard on the internet that the Sunrise Maiden build isn't optimal so I'll let you modify it some if you want and we'll say that's how you found it. Please keep the equivalent BP. Apparently the extra weapon mount on the aft section and the weapon there could be used for more damaging weapons overall. Stuff like that.
GM Stargin
The Sunrise Maiden is not big enough to fit the Hippocampus inside of it, or the Aceron for that matter. But you recall that the Aceron was moving towards Absalom Station on auto-pilot; and Fi, and Prospero, and Leila can tell Astrianna that all three ships can have that activated and set to move towards Absalom Station if that is what you desire.
Astrianna Sparacello
Would you believe I nerfed the thing?
Are you freaking serious? I'm glad you did, it might have TPK'd us otherwise.
This is a sweet looking ship! Love the color scheme and design.
Fi's was the one all into the ships so I'm not sure about the retrofit, wish she was here :(
I can look into the spaceship rules later but free-time wise I'm kind of bogged down so I may not get around to it.
Yeah let's get on the Aceron to tow everything back to the Station. The rock is safe to bring back as long as there aren't more doggies hiding in noqual. The venerable Ambassador is going to want his ship and delivery anyway.
Leila Bluetistle
Very nice spaceship!
I'll have to take a closer look at it this weekend I think : )
But just a thought - very generous lavatories for a crew of 7 :P
Astrianna Sparacello
I wonder what the assassin's data pad will reveal... Unless we already cracked it and I forgot. I don't think we cracked it though.
I suggest we put Astri and Fi in the Hippocampus and send it back with them in it so they can return the ship to the Ambassador with his delivery and smooth things over in case customs wants to take a look inside.
Leila and Prospero Activate the autopilot on the Aceron to tow the rock back to the station, or we just leave it there because eh, it's not going anywhere, and take the Sunrise Maiden back to the Station for new owner registration!
Prospero-4
Split the party!
(sorry, couldn't resist)
Right, the datapad. I think we decided to start cracking it later. Maybe on the way back to Absalom station
GM Stargin
Haha. I got Prospero to post but I won't be able to post today myself. Jokes. Book coda upcoming by Monday latest.
Might as well have a difficult conversation now. I don't think Fi is coming back and more than a month without a post is not a good thing for the game. I'm dropping the character sadly.
Leila Bluetistle
Sad but true. Sadly.
We can just say that the starfinders were a bit suspicious of her or something and sent her to [insert thing here] as a test. That way we don't have to think about and she'll have an excuse to rejoin later maybe - "Oh [thingy] is finally done now and I'm back!".
Or something.

Spare Power: 3
I went over and calculated what the stuff on our ship actually costs. 95 BP total if I didn't screw up which means exactly precisely tier 3. Which seems reasonable.
And we have 3 power to spare. That's with the Drift Engine turned off, since we can't use thrusters and that one at the same time anyhow.
Now for some quick notes!
1) Our drift engine actually consumes 5p more then the thrusters so we'll have to turn something off to actually engage them. Minor inconvenience but it's there.
Turning off the Recreation Suite will give us enough spare power. (Or any of the weapons).
2) Our ship computer has the Artificial Personality upgrade (that doesn't cost BP). We really should say hi!
3) Our ship can bring the most weapons to bear at starboard and port sides. Our front Gyrolaser can shoot into an adjacent arc at -2, there's laser cannons there and we have a turret.
So our ship really want broadsides if we have enough crew to man each gun.
4) Our ship is tankiest from the rear since there's were we have the Flak Throwers. They'll give us a free shot at intercepting tracked weapons (aka missiles).
Edit:More thoughts!
5) Currently our non-point defense weaponry consumes 30 PCU and costs 17 BP. If it all shoots at the same thing, port or starboard side, it deals 1d8+2d4+3d6 damage (and the 1d8 is at -2 to hit). That's an average of 20 damage. Only the turret, dealing 3d6, is medium ranged.
If we instead slap a Heavy Laser in the (upgraded) turret mount it would consume 10 PCU and cost 14 BP. It would deal 4d8 damage and an average of 18.
Two less damage, but only one action to shoot. Also it's all medium range. And we can use it all on targets straight ahead and behind us.
Heck we could even keep the forward mounted Gyrolaser for the same BP (17 total) and only use 20 PCU. Then we would have better damage front right and center! And backwards too!
However! That means having a ship with a Heavy Turret. I'm not sure if that is frowned upon or not in polite society but somewhere it might be trouble.
I think this is the main point-of-optimization mentioned earlier.
Leila Bluetistle
@5) - I'm not saying we *should* ask to change this part, just that we could. (It might even be a bad idea if we face some evil spaceship with a [Disable One Weapon] power!)
But it would mean our ship's weapon arrangement were a bit more dangerous and more importantly one step closer to the Falcon :P
Prospero-4
Bravo, Leila! Excellent analysis! I haven’t had the time to look into ship building, unfortunately. So I trust you completely in this :)
And I agree on putting a heavier weapon on turret. That way we get to shoot with the heaviest gun even if we lose initiative.
...
And I’m with GM about he issue with Fi. Last we’ve heard of her, she was about to get hit with a ton of work - and not a word since. So perhaps for the best to drop her (for now, at least). I know when real life gets too busy, one shuts down all extra activities. But it’s also very hard to admit to oneself that the game cannot go on... but this is the reality of pbp - the timespan is so long, there will be many changes in real life.
With this topic out in the open, I should mention that I am switching jobs, and starting in the new one on June. I hope it would not affect my ability to post, but that remains to be seen.
Anyway, this is a very good moment to recruit a new player, since I think we’ve pretty much finished with book 1.
Leila Bluetistle
I should point out that we already can use our heaviest gun, the medium range 3d6 particle beam, always since it's on the turret mount by default.
Main issue is that we are spending BP and PCU on tons of small things that only seems to exist to turn the ship into a porcupine. I guess it's to make sure everyone in the crew gets to roll something. But we're already a bit undercrewed and slowing down combat doesn't seem like the best plan in pbp :-)
---
I agree with that we could use an extra hand on deck.
Astrianna Sparacello
Thanks for the analysis Leila, really cool!
I'm good for with putting a big friggin' gun on the top of the ship!
We could always hire some NPC gunners and crew. We have plenty of space on board after all.
This is my only problem.
Turning off the Recreation Suite will give us enough spare power.
Are you nuts?! Astri needs to live stream!
Leila Bluetistle
That's another perk of the updated setup - less PCU consumption means turning anything but the thruster off won't be necessary :-)
Astrianna Sparacello
Wouldn't mind a melee or a pilot, but it's not critical. We've gotten by with our skill monkeying for now.
Prospero-4
Melee would be nice, or perhaps magical aptitude. Pilot we could fix from existing with level-up or little retraining, as everyone has plenty of skills and DEX.
But I'm not sure if front-liner or magical knowledge is really required in Starfinder, so anything is fine.
Leila Bluetistle
Who would really sink to the low-low of ship-napping? Hmhm. Mysterious!
---
I think I'm fine with mostly anything really!
Perhaps we should avoid another tech-focused skill character though, that spot might become a bit crowded :P
Leila Bluetistle
Cool : )
Fighting Chicken
Hi All!
GM Stargin asked me join this game, and as I've played with Azih and Galorit and think they are excellent people and players, I jumped at the chance. I'm looking forward to gaming with you all.
Reading over the last bit of discussion, it seems you all really want a ranged skill monkey?
:)
So melee and/or magic it is. My one foray into Starfinder was with a ranged skill monkey mechanic, so I'm not sure if there's enough rules to support a PC that does both magic and melee.
If there isn't, would you prefer a melee type or a magic type?
Lessah
Well nice to see you too again Fighting Chicken : )
---
To be fair, the character that's leaving is an ranged skill monkey (we like those here! :P) so if you want you can.
Personally I'd rather see that you pick something that you will enjoy playing (and that can be hard to tell!). So I'm effectively not offering an opinion on your question (helpful as I am :P).
Anyhow! I'm sure we'll have fun ^^
Astrianna Sparacello
THIS guy??
You invite him into our game after he tried to TKP us with that puppet-tree?!
I kid :) Good to have you on board BP. Play whatever strikes your fancy, we should all have fun first and foremost!
Fighting Chicken
You invite him into our game after he tried to TKP us with that puppet-tree?!
Bah. I had a 66% chance to knock the barbarian out and couldn't even manage that. Puppet trees are dead to me!
Well nice to see you too again Fighting Chicken : )
D'oh! Sorry about that, Lessah! I'm not sure why I didn't recognize you, as Miranda is my favorite character in our HR game. So much so, that I totally stole based the happy-go-lucky nature of my previous SF PC, a ysoki mechanic, on your lovely little (literal) anklebiter.
Regarding what to play, I'm kicking some ideas around and am happy to play melee and/or magic. I've got some time to kill in my hotel room tonight, so I'm going to read through the gameplay thread to get a handle on the party dynamic.
I do love skill monkeys so I'll probably try and turn whatever I'm playing into one, but I'll make sure I either hit things or do casty things too :)
GM Stargin
If you could come up with your own theme music that'd be grand too FC!
OK, now that book one is quite done time for an annoying GM survey again.
What was your favorite music?
Anything that can be done better?
How were the combats?
Do you guys want to continue with the spaceship stuff?
Too much botting? Not enough? Just right?
Feel free to PM me with any suggestions that you might have also.
Prospero-4
Welcome to the party, Fighting Chicken!
I think anything with some strength and advanced melee weapons will make quite a good front-liner. In SFS I have a mystic who tries to be a melee guy as a secondary role, but I'm not sure if he'll ever be good at it :)
But create a character that you will love playing, and I'm sure it'll fit into the party just fine. Even if it's a ranged skill monkey :D
--- GM survey ---
What was your favorite music?
Confession: I really don't have the opportunity to listen to anything. I just look at the title in youtube :)
Anything that can be done better?
I can't think of anything right now.
How were the combats?
End boss was properly terrifying. Akata's a bit repetitive. I'm still getting used to SF combat dynamics.
Do you guys want to continue with the spaceship stuff?
Sure. I <3 spaceships
Too much botting? Not enough? Just right?
I think it's just about right. I feel the game is moving, but giving plenty of time to post
Fighting Chicken
Ok, I've settled on a concept and have the skeletal crunch for her done. She'll be a soldier 1 / mystic x, ace pilot theme. Though she doesn't know about the mystic part yet.
I'm driving across Texas today so I'll not get much more work done on this today. I hope to have her done tomorrow or day after.
I'm really enjoying the writing you all have done. This is a really nicely realized world and set of characters.
Astrianna Sparacello
What was your favorite music?
I really liked the boss battle music! Excellent picks on those.
Anything that can be done better?
Nah you're doing great!
How were the combats?
Great! But I play a support character so what do I know?
Do you guys want to continue with the spaceship stuff?
Sure! We're in space after all. I don't understand the system and haven't sat down to study it but that's perfectly in character so i may not change that.
Too much botting? Not enough? Just right?
Botting is on point.
Feel free to PM me with any suggestions that you might have also.

Theory crafting:
Soldier gets you a bunch of useful proficiencies right off the bat, and you get a very different feeling fighterperson based on the Primary Fighting Style. All of them look really good. Hit and Run is terrible though. Don't take that one!
You probably really need to get Versatile Specialization at Level 3 so you can add your level to damage.
From the Mystic side, again, your connection will make a big difference. Starfinder classes are a bunch of fun to build and theorycraft I'm finding :).
Going straight Mystic I think is viable too but you'd have to burn feats to get your primary weapon up and going before thinking about anything else (like armor) that you might want.
Starfinder encourages multiple attributes which is good, since if you're thinking about melee, you'll want STR and CON as well as WIS which is important for the Mystic. A good DEX would help the Piloting part as well. INT and CHA can be ignored I think!
Prospero-4
Once he gets to lvl 2, I'm planning to retrain to soldier 1/mystic x to free the feats into something better. So pretty much what you're planning as well. First scenario I played I was just spamming magic missile, so no close combat experience yet.
Since Qaru neglected DEX and INT, he's pretty much useless in starship combat. Soo.... don't do that :)
Star shaman connection might be a good match if you want to be a pilot.
Also, I'm not sure how much it's worth to invest in AC. So far it feels like the enemies have really big hit bonuses, so they are not going to miss much. Then again, my experience is still quite limited.
Leila Bluetistle
Minor sad note @loot - some of that stuff were on a ship we can't seem to find right now ...
Leila Bluetistle
Our fancy lumps of noqual though - did you drag then along too?
If so, I think you deserve an extra cookie or something next shore leave :-)
