Bizzlemont Blacktop |
When the sounds of the world suddenly disappear, Bizzlemont grabs his ears and looks around at the group. He mouths some words, waving his arms emphatically
I can't hear you? What's going on? Can you hear me? Am I deaf?
The little gnome suddenly grins for a second and puts his hands up as if he is touching something solid in front of him. Then he appears to touch something solid above his head. He repeats this to the side as if he's trapped in a box! Dramatic shock seems to be on Bizzle's face, but then the gnome chuckles silently and then moves as Terion indicated, out of the room.
Act like a mime, then move to P-8
Felgarr Thundershield |
To clarify cleave, you specify you are cleaving before any dice are rolled. Best to post it in the dice= block as dice=cleave PA before the first roll. In this case it didn't matter as it was the right thing to do.
What you should look into getting is Cleaving Finish. Then you can again, but you don't have to declare the action ahead of time, and you don't suffer the AC penalty. Of course, it only activates when you drop a foe, so it is more limited. Of course, you can always declare Cleave, make both attacks (assuming the first hit), and then if either of them drop a foe, Cleaving Finish!
AC 19 (18+1)
HP 7/13
Not trusting himself to step out onto the greased area to confront the zombie, Felgarr waits.
Delaying. If the zombie moves forward successfully, he will strike it down. If it doesn't, he will move west to N10 and attack the goblin in N11 (if still alive) or another goblin in reach.

Belrain the Acolyte |
Belrain looks surprised as the sound in the room suddenly disappears. He looks over to the others and seeing people gesturing to the coins... well, he doesn't really understand anyway. With one Zombie left and Felgarr ready to destroy it, Belrain steps over to theblind Goblin and attempts to brain him.

GM Tribute |
As Bizzlemont moves out of the room, he spots four hobgoblins approaching from the stairway. Bizzlemont is still silent as he moves, not making a single sound. If he did a move, Bizz has a standard left. Map updated with hobgoblins. Bizzlemont has spoiled the surprise next round. Anyone left to go? Update tomorrow.
Bizzlemont Blacktop |
Oh. Crap.
Bizzlemont waves his arms trying to get the attention of the others, and he begins pointing frantically. He ducks back inside the room, around the corner and points back toward the approaching group. Then his eyes grow wide in comprehension. He points past the two goblins.
GM Tribute |
Four hobgoblins chase Bizzlemont into the room. They stop and unleash a volley of javelins. The rear ones move into place and fire first. They are targeting Ping.

An armored figure can be seen chanting from behind the goblins. Sound seems to work in his room. He yells, "Undead, hold." and chants holding a snake holy symbol. His curse seems to cancel out Ama's bless. Another goblins squeezes into the room and swings at Terion clipping him 3hp physical.

The zombie stays put, listening to his master. The armored figure yells in common, "Surrender now, you are surrounded. I knew you'd come this way."
Party up.
Elgoron |
Surrounded. Again. How did I not see this coming?
What were the odds they'd predict us doing the exact same thing? We could have taken any number of actions, yet they guessed at this one? We don't have much luck here, do we?
I could certainly do for some right now..
Elgoron moves to P-12 and casts shield on himself, bringing his AC to 17.
"We have got to start covering our escape routes better. this is getting old. Felgarr! Cover Ping from the hobgoblins! We need to finish these little wretches one group at a time and keep our front at the proper facing! Finish off those goblins so we can choke off the spear throwers! Do NOT let them surround us!"

Ama moves back and calls on the forces of good healing 1d6 ⇒ 2 in the room and Terion.
Strang attacks the goblin as it regains his sight with his shortsword.

The man in the back with the gleaming chainmail begins to cast again.
The evil priest is concerned with the rate of attrition of his minions and keeps the last goblin spearman in the room with him. He takes a lunge at Bizzle 1d20 ⇒ 11 but can't penetrate his new magic armor.
Party up, Ama's channel puts Ping at 2hp and allows Ping an action. Given it is the weekend, next GM post Monday PM to let those on holiday do holiday things.
Belrain the Acolyte |
Belrain, seeing the enemy falling back, lunges forward to press the attack against the Goblins and the evil priest. He continues to try to speak, and by the fervor with which he is doing so, he is trying to curse the enemy cleric.
Club against the Goblin in the doorway. 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Damage 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Bizzlemont Blacktop |
Bizzlemont suddenly makes a soundless gasp and his eyes light up. He closes his eyes for a second and suddenly the coins in the room sweep across the floor.
Use Spell-Like ability (no verbal components) to cast Prestidigation and sweep the coins out of the room and into the area where the priest is. If that's not possible, then at worst just into the corner by Ama and Felgarr. I'm hoping that's within the bound of Prestidigation since one of its general uses is to clean. Hopefully that gets some of us outside the Silence field.
Strang |
Strang, emboldened by his taking down of one goblin, tries to stike over Belrain's shoulder at other,
Attack (Shortsword, enemy behind cover): 1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (12) + 3 - 4 = 11
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
... to no avail.
Ama Freewater |
There was not much that Ama could think of doing right now. It was either "hurt the enemies", or "help my friends". With the situation that Terion was in, she judged it to be the worst, and trusted the others to do what was necessary.
As she could not speak, she moved within range of one of the Hobgoblins that had felled Terion, and attacked with her glaive. 'If I fail to connect again', she thought, 'I would think that the lady is trying to tell me something.' As the attack was more inept than she had ever been, she dropped the glaive with disgust.
Attack@O8Hob:1d20 + 0 ⇒ (2) + 0 = 2
Ping Ibbleting |
Gah, Why can't I think of anything to do? Or rather anything smart.
Ping, seeing no other option, runs up to Terion and grabs his shirt.
Gonna try and pull him out of the way, can someone burn those AoO's. Hopefully with out getting hit.
Felgarr Thundershield |
Back from the weekend. Was never resolved if the delaying action I stated earlier occurred, when the zombie did not approach. If Felgarr did get to move west and strike, he would now be occupying the space Belrain is in, and his attack may have struck down a goblin. Below actions assume that took place.

zombie on grease: 1d20 ⇒ 18
Emboldened, the zombie manages to stagger into the room. Sound seems to be transmitted in the left five foot part of the room.
Party is up. Note: Ping has felt a bard was not working out, so expect a melee type replacement to enter and engage the hobgoblins on your turn. Ping's replacement can begin with a full charge into the hobgoblins. Map update with three small devils.
Elgoron |
spellcraft: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14 damn.
Seeing Ping fall, Elgoron flings his staff at the hobgoblin in P-7. attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20 damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2
This isn't good. No sound to cast spells, no other tools to use, and no way out. We shouldn't have come back...
Yes, thank you; that is perfectly obvious in hindsight. It's foresight we're lacking, if that's not also completely apparent.
Noticing the zombie has now entered the room, Elgoron moves to O-11.
Felgarr Thundershield |
AC 19 (18+1)
HP 5/13
Wounded by the sulfurous devil in front of him, Felgarr focuses on the foes in front of him.
He swings to trip the repulsive creature and buy himself some time. He sees Terion and Pin fall out of the corner of his eye, but he has his hands full with the devils. He waves his flail in urgency at the hobgoblins, but you can tell his morale is wavering.

Ama Freewater |
'This may be how it ends', Ama thought to herself as she drew the dagger from her hip, feeling a grim sort of assent from that unidentified presence in her head. A feral grin was on her face, and she just somehow knew that was from her "company".. Not that she disagreed with it.
Still, they had not all fallen yet, and there were still things to be done. Glancing at the situation showed she had little recourse, and her positioning could be better, but she could at least save Ping hopefully and get Terion standing. She channeled the divine energy in her again.

"So... I guess you're one of the voices in my head."
"Yep. Sorry about the... Well you know."
"It's not your fault. I'm the one that went rushing headlong into this."
"Still, that hurt. That hurt really, really bad."
"Still, not the most painful character death I've seen."
A large, be-hatted figure walks in out of the darkness.
"WAH! Who are you?!" shout Ping and Jason in unison.
"Oh, me? I'm the guy that created both of you."
"You're joking." say Ping and Jason in unison.
"Nope."
"So I guess Ping is just going to fade into oblivion then?"
"Nope. I like Ping, but she's not going to be magically brought back to life."
"Oh."
"Don't worry you're fine. You'll be able to go back after this over with."
"What about me?"
"You'll be okay. Well, to be more accurate, you'll be coming back at some point."
"You mean Reincarnation?"
"Kinda. Wanna watch those goblins get skewered?"
"Hell yes!"
"Does this mean I get to go back home?"
...
"Hello?"
...
...
. . .
"Not yet, but you will."
"What a re-"
Magnhlidr Whitescale |
The only warning that the hobgoblins got was a feral bellow, the clomp of heavy boots, and the jingle of mail.
"DEATH OR GLORY!"
Charging, Power Attack, Glaive: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 8 + 2 = 12
Damage: 1d10 + 12 ⇒ (9) + 12 = 21
A high, keening whistle echos in the hall as the petite newcomer brings the head of a glaive whipping around hard enough to shatter bone. Aiming for the Hobo in O-8
"Come if you think you can best a daughter of Whitescale."
One thing is clear on her face, she is one of the berserkers of the north, and her eyes only promise death.
Hopefully this will go better than that first roll.

Uh, what are those?
I dunno, they just appeared out of nowhere.

Whatever. Kill them.

Bizzlemont Blacktop |
Bizzlemont ears suddenly register sound. The little gnome gasps and reaches around the corner, chanting some arcane words. Immediately color shoots forth.
Cast Color Spray. From Biz's square he should be able to hit M-10, L-10, and K-10. Will save DC 17 or be either knocked unconscious, blinded, or stunned (depending on HD).

Moving behind cover Bizzle unloads a fountain of colors hitting a devil, goblin, and evil cleric.
Cleric, goblin: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 121d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
The evil cleric seems stunned and tries to get his bearings, the goblin falls to the ground unconscious. The devils seem unaffected by the display.
A single hobgoblin takes a magic shot from the wizard and has 1d8 + 3 - 5 ⇒ (6) + 3 - 5 = 4
He hangs back and two swing at the charging female.
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 121d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10 and misses.
The sole zombie swings at the cleric.1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Finally, the wounded hobgoblin decides to try and put Terion out of the fight for good. He prepares a vicious two handed blow. Provokes an attack from Maggie
Devil fights with the paladin and claims a single claw hit2d20 ⇒ (7, 18) = 25 for 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 negative energy.
Party up--Maggie to start with an AoO. Evil boss stunned, goblin sleeping on the ground. Add one hp from Ama's channel.
Magnhlidr Whitescale |
Okay I'm not sure what's going on with the map. Glaives are reach weapons, so she'd need to be 10ft away or take the -4 for trying to choke her grip. I guess we could retcon her attack as being with a greatsword. Doesn't matter since she missed anyway. I'm rolling for damage on both, the attack bonus is the same on both as well.
AoO:
Power Attack Glaive/Greatsword: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
Damage Glaive: 1d10 + 12 ⇒ (1) + 12 = 13
Damage Greatsword: 2d6 + 12 ⇒ (5, 5) + 12 = 22
Magnhildr grins as the hobgoblins miss. Unfortunately for their friend, she didn't. Blade severed muscle and bone when he tried to attack a prone man on the floor.
"C'mon cowards. Is that the best ya can do?"
Attacking O-8 again. If she was using the glaive, she drops it and draws her greatsword.
Power Attack Greatsword: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
Damage: 2d6 + 12 ⇒ (5, 4) + 12 = 21
Steel flashes again and sprays blood across the floor and walls as the sword in her hands cleaves one of the goblins in two.
"So whatcha gonna do now Toothy? Are ya gonna run or are ya gonna try ta fight?"
Ama Freewater |
Looking around at the situation and figuring that things are safe enough, Ama takes time to convert the energy from one spell into another to get Terion up on his feet. One hand on his chest, it was difficult to hold the note long enough to focus the energy to convert, but she managed it, and positive energy floods Terion.

Maggie downs the hobgoblin attempting to dispatch Terion from the doorway. Felgarr attempts to trip a devil 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20 and with his flail he knocks him to the ground. The devil rises in anger triggering an vicious attack from the paladin 1d20 ⇒ 141d8 ⇒ 1 wounding him as he stands.
The devil attacks 2d20 ⇒ (2, 4) = 6 and misses with his claws. The evil cleric is still stunned. The two hobgoblins assault their new attacker with one handed blows drawing their shields.
2d20 ⇒ (13, 6) = 19
One slips through her defenses for 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Maggies response is brutal as he leaves one on the ground bleeding with a vicious two-handed swing.
Terion manages to safely rise to his feet after the healing and Maggie dispatching her attacker.
The zombie renews his assault 1d20 ⇒ 17 charging Elgoron for 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7 after he launched his magic missile from the corner.
The devil in the corner tries a desperate claw attack around the cover of the doorway but fails to score a hit. 2d20 ⇒ (10, 7) = 17
The remaining hobgoblin looks ready to flee. The devils are standing fast, and one zombie is attacking. An evil cleric is trying to recover from the stunning colors launched at him.
Party up except for Maggie, who has gone. Terion is fully up and active.
Elgoron |
It's magnhildr, maggie for short. looks like she moved squares without cleaning up the old one, lol.
With the zombie closing in, and the party occupied with two other fronts, Elgoron grimaces and readies his staff, attempting to ward off the corpse while looking for an opportunity to strike.

AC is now 15, or 19 if my shield spell was still up. Need to go back and check if I cast that earlier or not. will correct if I did, sorry.
EDIT: yup, there it is. should still be up for a bit.
