Now with better world building!!
Part I

Set in the Milky Way Galaxy in a part of the Galaxy we can't normally see (in other words, on the "other side" of the Saggitarius "Super Massive Black Hole" [It's really an electric plasmoid, people]) in a sector we will call the Bahamat Sector, lies four major systems. Liga, Avani, Krynn, and Eberron. Although not originally allied, the four systems nonetheless banded together to repel the Draconic threat from the Tiamat sector.

The repulsion was unsuccessful the first time, for the worlds of the four major systems were settled by Dragons. However, other draconic invasions were repulsed by the people of these four systems and they began to explore space on their own. As they explored the Bahamat Sector, they created an interstellar nation that expanded into the Bahamat Sector.

The Bahamat Sector is divided into four quadrants. Aebyrnis, Eberron, Krynn, and Oerth. With New Greyhawk -- an advanced spacestation in the Liga system -- as the capital and cultural center.

As entrepreneurs and colonists ventured out into space, they managed to build different kinds of bases. These bases evolved from the work of these colonists and entrepreneurs.

Quadrants:

Aebyrnis
The Aebyrnis quadant is governed from the Avani system. A system that contains the planet Aebyrnis. The planet is considered to be a Agricultural center, though the quadrant itself is full of systems with asteroid fields, and thus it's a mining quadrant.

Eberron
The Eberron quadrant is governed from the Dol Arrah system. It's the Triune Alliance's vanguard against the Dragons. Dragon ships, Alpha Draconian ships, and Dragonkin ships are frequently encountered here. Here, the Triune Alliance navy holds the thin blue line against the draconic threat from the Tiamat Sector.

Krynn
The Krynn quadrant is governed from the Krynn system (yes, another sun was never named). It's a sparsely populated quadrant. However, the system named Junction is so named because of it's location between major trade routes.

Oerth
The center of the Triune Alliance's civilization and culture. The capital, New Greyhawk, is located in the Liga System. So are many other large population centers. The most important of these, New Ahlissa, is renowned for the wealth of work and opportunity to be had there. Not to mention that the alcohol and other drinks are top quality. The Oerth quadrant is the only other quadrant that has more than one Pleasure planet, built entirely on rabid consumerism and providing R&R for the military types. This means reports of Draconic and pirate attacks in Oerth has dropped to the lowest rate of any other quadrant.

Part II

BASE TYPES:

As we have settled the stars, several types of bases appear wherever we go. As you travel through out the quadrants you will certainly encounter each of these. Below you find a description of base and what they will trade for. Also listed are four of Bahamut's most significant places: Perry, Cambridge, New Grayhawk, and New Ahlissa. Be advised that not every base will buy what you have to sell -- for example, it's obviously futile to try to sell unrefined plutonium to an agricultural base. After all, trade can be very lucrative if you do not get discouraged and keep your wits about you. Enjoy your flights through the Bahamut sector -- it may be full of adventure and profit.

Agricultural

  • General Notes. These are planets whose primary industry is farming. They are usually large, with a high land to ocean ratio. Terraforming is in progress on most of these worlds, but domed cities are still the rule. Life here is a lot of work, and the government is trying to encourage colonists to have more children and settle down.
  • Trading Tips. Furs, lumber, pets, grain, and foodstuffs are available here. They have a great need for more equipment and workers, as well as housing for their growing populations. Elves and humans may be found on agricultural planets.

    Mining

  • General Notes. Mining bases are affixed to and carved into large asteroids. This means that flying through an asteroid field is usually mandatory for getting there. Mines are most prevalent in Aebyrnis Quadrant, though they are also found less frequently throughout the sector. The bars are generally Spartan and all drinks have been imported and are therefore very expensive. Kobolds and Dwarves may be found on mining bases.
  • Trading Tips. Mining bases need food. They have plenty of minerals and not much interest in luxury goods. Mining bases also seek ways to distract their lonely workers. So issues of Plaything, games, or other entertainment are in high demand.

    Pirate

  • General Notes. As can be expected, there is a piracy boom. At times, entire bases have been taken over. These hostile takeovers is mostly limited to Aebyrnis Quadrant. Pirate bases are a hazard to aboveboard shippers and a boon to smugglers in illicit goods. Due to the nature of this type of base, no guild has offices here.
  • Trading Tips. While it's not possible to trade with pirates, this is not the case. These bases need food and trade in weapons. They deal in drugs such as Brilliance, and continue to trade in slaves. Please note that persons known to attack merchants and trade in contraband are considered to be saboteurs of the war effort and are attacked on sight by Allied forces.

    Pleasure

  • General Notes. Pleasure planets are the result of high demand and rampant consumerism. They also have a sudden population explosion and a few lucky prospectors coming into too much wealth too soon in their lives. These are places of hedonistic games and are a tromp l'oeil of culture. They are also important pressure valves during these tense times.
  • Pleasure planets are hotbeds of rampant consumerism. The population is interested in buying drugs, art, furs, games, and anything fun or exciting. Unfortunately, they produce little besides movies.

    Refinery

  • General Notes. Refineries are platform based space stations whose primary purpose is to turn the natural resources of Gemini's asteroids planets into advanced fuels, durable goods, etc. They are a major employer of skilled labor and are found throughout all four quadrants.
  • Trading Tips. Like mining bases, refineries have a great need for food and entertainment. They also need natural resources shipped in for processing.
  • We're getting to the end of all this world building stuff.

    Wayfinders

    DOOOOOOOT.

Getting a heavy "Wing Commander: Privateer" vibe, and I like it.

That's the intent, I'm still doing some world building in that vein.

    Part III

    MORE BASE TYPES:

    New Greyhawk
  • General Notes. New Greyhawk is the capital of the Bahamut Sector and is a space station located in the Liga System. Orbiting outside the fourth planet from Liga. New Greyhawk is an advanced Space station that was discovered by spelljammers from Greyhawk. They have taken over the space station and call it New Greyhawk. When the Triune Alliance was formed, the space station became the heart and soul of the Alliance.
  • Trading Tips. Almost all art to be found in the area is produced here. New Greyhawk is the hub of all political and cultural events. Due to it's importance, people come from all over to buy and sell nearly everything. It is a good place to do business.

    New Ahlissa

  • General Notes. Named after the Great Kingdom of Ahlissa, this new planet is a urban center. It is the industrial heart of the Bahamut Sector and it beats with the rhythms of heavy machinery. If one were to look from orbit, the pervasive gray of buildings and smog are visible. Before there were refineries in Bahamut's space, there was New Ahlissa. For three decades the central metropolis has been expanding to cover the planet’s enormous land masses. Its bars and other businesses sit at the bottom of skyscrapers like the little hunched prophets at the bottom of Hadrian’s Gorge. Definitely a place to visit and an even better place to do business.
  • Trading Tips. Competition is stiff here. There is a glut of manufactured goods. If it’s manmade, you can bet New Ahlissa’s got it. They need natural resources and are willing to pay the price to get them. New Detroit’s mixture of highbrow and sleaze industry means that there’s a nook, out of the incessant drizzle, for any goods you wish to buy or sell.

    Yay!

It will get more interesting later on.

Is this the same game that you were running earlier EltonJ, or just an extension of the one that ended?

    Shadow Lodge

    Dotting.

Confused if this a recruitment for a new game or something else. But if it is, I want in. I want to travel from Eberron to Krynn. I want to play a warforged so badly.

A new game, based on the one I was running earlier. This time, we won't deal with ship to ship combat. Until we are ready and everyone has a job.

    Character Creation Guidelines
    1. Ability Score Generation -- Use the Ability Buy method located on pages 18-19 in the STARFINDER CRB. It's quick, it's easy, and you can generate good scores with it.

    2. Races -- There are many races out there. Felines, Canines, Reptilians, etc. To play a different race than what is listed in the CRB, you have to check with me first (Such as warforged).

    3. Character Class and Theme -- All character classes and themes are available from the STARFINDER CRB. Remember, themes are designed to replace traits.

    4. Starting Level -- The starting level is one, you start with a thousand credits to pave your way to fame and fortune.

    5. Character Background -- There is a random generator picker called Central Casting: Heroes for Tomorrow. You may use this to generate your character's background.

    6. Starting Ship -- We aren't dealing with starship combat in this game until everyone is ready. Last game no one was ready and we lost one of our players. The FTL is drift/Hyperspace until I can figure out the rules for time travel/folding space between stars.

    Wayfinders

I need to edit this one a little bit (and make it an alias?), but here's Keilar, Vesk Bounty Hunter Envoy, and future ship's captain (I'm fairly good with the Starship rules, having played and GMed them a few times now).

He was originally for another game, and I'll need to re-work the backstory. I'm good with the mechanical layout as-is for now, though I might want to ask a couple clarifying questions for you if he's chosen to make sure they all make sense for the party.

Alright. Sounds good to me. A Vesk envoy is something I certainly was not expecting.

    Wayfinders

He wasn’t either, until I started playing it, and it’s a BLAST. I’m so used to creating characters that are somewhat like me, but Keilar’s quite different, and it’s a lot of fun.

I might switch up his STR a little, and just take the points out of somewhere else, but I’ll sleep on it. Thanks!

I would like to make a Space Goblin from the Alien Archive as my race, if you are willing to let me.

    Lol!

No seriously, you can. Really, I don't mind it. Although I can see you tasting everything from chocolate covered strawberries to live electrical components.

Okay, I'll get started on my character.

I realized I had submitted a space goblin to a dead suns game that he wasn't accepted for, so I think I'll reuse him here:

There are so many crazy races out there, but I decided to go with something a bit more "normal". Here is Raso, my Human Technomancer:

    PDF Link

I will make a profile if I get picked. This is just a Hero Lab Online print out. Hopefully that is ok. The picture on the PDF is the default one. I am imagining something more like a slightly older guy in a lab coat doing magic. So, Bill Nye with some weird magic abilities. Wearing his Second Skin armor, and a white lab coat over it.

Background can be changed to fit your cool world setup.

    Background:

Raso grew up on New Greyhawk. Always a bit of a terminal junkie, reading every new scientific advancement that was released. It seemed obvious he would join the science wing of war. So he did.

While excited and ready to be part of the "boots on the ground" scientists that follow many of the millitary missions, he was shoved into the back rooms. Never even being able to leave the station. Put in a Lab and told to research.

His research focused on physics, but also branched off into some weapon development. Something that bothered him a bit. Small weapons where not a big deal, but these large weapons of war seemed to be heartless and had no sense of honor.

During his off time, he started to dable into the arcane. He started testing ideas on some equipment from the lab, getting it to do things it should not be able to do. He ended up stealing quite a few parts, hoping he was getting away with it. His biggest indiscretion was a nano machine generator. He took and with the plans he had concocted (a mix of blue prints and arcane symbols) he created a handful of small arcane nano bots.

Only a few of them turned out to have any functional abilities. He was able to implant a single one into his skull, right between his eyes. He had read about the 3rd eye and decided to try everything he could. Not a minute after implantation of his first bot, his company's Inventory Retention Unit showed up and took all of his equipment and findings. They also left him with no job. They left his accounts with a heafty fine. All he had left was what he had in his apartment. Which he found out later was owned by the company. He had 2 weeks to leave.

Now he is jobless and homeless, he has his small Spell Cache stored in his skull. He decided it was time to try something new. He grabbed his Lab Coat (somehow not taken from him), sold what stuff he had, and headed out. Ready to experience the universe.

Change your god to Celestian, the Greyhawk God of Astronomy and Exploring the Cosmos. And I think you'll be fine. You're not playing a mystic so it's not a total loss.

Sounds good! I was kinda looking for a more Knowledge/Exploration type diety. Might have to do some Greyhawk diety research to find the right one. Its mostly flavor anyway.

Thanks for running this. Fingers crossed!

We'll see about that. Playing a warforged is like playing an andoid. The only difference is hit points (a warforged starts with 6).

Ya, Goblin backgrounds, like Goblin lives, should be short and amusing.

Goblin lives should be short and amusing? Well, I have to agree, unless you're playing Birthright. Anyhow, anyone else interested?

I think people might be confused because the first few posts dont have any info about character requirements. I bet a lot of people opened the thread and didnt know what it was about and closed it.

You might want to make a more obvious recruitment thread.

Starfinder does seem to have a lower demand on the forums too. so who knows. Shrug

    Alright.

    Still Recruiting?

Still am recruiting. Do you have something in mind?

I was thinking a Ysoki operative with the Ace Pilot theme

    Grand Lodge

I have an idea for either a ysoki mechanic, or a Lashunta mystic. Mechanic woukd be my junker/tinkerer who lives a good technological challenge. While the lashunta would be a priestess of a telepathic order.

Dotting for interest. EltonJ - fired you a PM regards my potential pitch.

    Cheers

So far my work in progress Mystic Lashunta Empath of Zouken

Neat, looks like we are getting enough people.

EltonJ maybe open the gameplay tab so we can dot and have it show on our gameplay

    Alright its open.

    Grand Lodge

Eltonj what would be a good planet or station for my Zouken Lashunta mystic to hail from? Need a good background

There are many stars in the sector. I would say a station or a drift, orbiting a white dwarf star. I'll let you name the star from where you hail. A white dwarf like Van Annan's Star is not impossible for life to hang around on. CJ's Drift around a white dwarf star.

Are you still accepting interested applicants or do you have a full roster for this game already?

    Keante wrote:

I can accept up to six characters, and I have four, so two more.

    Spoiler:
Hesori was born in space on one of the Lashunta Corporate pleasure barges. She was raised amongst the other crew who helped run the operations on the ship. She was that way until they docked at a small station overlooking a swirling nebula of vivid colors. Both the nebula and station was called Daoud then followed by the subsequent label(ie Daoud Station and Daoud Nebula).

On this station like the ship, her mental abilities seemed to be stronger than other Lashunta. The perceptions she got were powerful and sometimes overwhelming. This was to the point it alienated her from many of the other children and a few of the adults steered clear of her. That was until she met a Shirren Priest of Zouken who noted her powerful Empathic abilities; THis Priest Xik by name offered the adolescent the opportunity to learn from the Book of Zouken, to harness her mind in ways other Empaths had yet to try.So The young Hesori left her parents took up the surname Zou and followed Xik learning the ways of Zouken.

She traveled learning to use the battle staff while flexing not only her physical self but her mental self. Despite the training physically she only managed to improve her personal constitution and little else. Her mental prowess expanded opening herself up to the river of thought and emotions others around her rarely noticed. Even those whose race could communicate telepathically. Xik had prepared her the best he could before he led her to a small asteroid enclave of fellow Zouken followers. There she finished her training becoming a full-fledged Zou Disciple. The divine teachings, the disciplines and even the mental tricks she learned made her ready to embark on the journey of discovery and self-improvement one that each of Zoukens faithful must endure. So armed with weapon, spell, mind and Zoukens' word she left and headed for the nearest station. Soon the galaxy would know of Hesori Zou, and the teachings of Zouken!

Hello everybody. I am new to Starfinder and PbP but I saw that you might have space for another character. If that is the case it would be great if I could join you. I just created my SFS Id today. ;-)

So if it is ok I would like to play a pregen.

    Have a great weekend!

You can play a pregen, just remember this isn't sanctioned by the starfinder society. We are just playing a friendly game.
