Quiven: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Boomkin: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Leastrie: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Amarth: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Octavio: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Graestos: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0
If you don't move too close you don't need to stealth because of the noise in the room. Let's just say that Boomkin and Furball didn't move close enough to need those Stealth rolls ;)
You guys will all get to act in the surprise round against him, and then it will be your turn again. So you get a move or standard in the surprise round and then a full action in the regular round. Go ahead and post both actions at once.
Initiatives:
1. Quiven, Leastrie, Boomkin, Amarth, and Octavio
2. Graestos and Isehkta, his cheetah
Quiven fires an arrow at the unsuspecting slavemaster and his him in the back of the leg.
Quiven has taken his surprise round action but can still take his "Round 1" action. Everyone else can take an action in the surprise round and a full action in "Round 1".

Seeing Octavio and Quiven go left while Boomkin and Furball go right, Amarthecthel decides he is the reserve, and will delay, standing by Leastrie until one flank or the other needs him.

![]() |

"The battle has started, get ready!"
Boomkin will cast Guidance on Octavio on the surprise round.
"No talking this time around,"
Boomkin and Furball will ready a melee attack in case they get within range.
Quarterstaff: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Bite: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Claw: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Claw: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
More than likely only that 1 claw might graze them.

EndlessForms |

In the surprise round, Quiven and Leastrie fire arrows at the Aspis agent but only Quiven's sticks the man. Octavio moves up and Amarthecthel, Boomkin, and Furball all ready to attack.
Starting regular rounds: is anybody doing anything before the Aspis slavemaster goes or are you all just readying actions? I imagine Quiven and Leastrie will fire again. He is still flat-footed at this point.
Initiatives:
1. Quiven, Leastrie, Boomkin, Amarth, and Octavio
2. Graestos and Isehkta, his cheetah
You guys are up!

![]() |

Octavio was just looking to hold the choke point, a human wall if you will. He also didn't want to leave Quiven standing there in case the slave master charged. We can still pull back after he moves towards us to draw him further in.

![]() |

Quiven strikes with his first arrow and will attempt to do so once more.
Bow: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Sneak: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Crit: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Crit Damage: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 1) = 7

EndlessForms |

Octavio readies to hit the slavemaster while Leastrie charges into battle, missing the Aspis agent in the heat of the moment. Quiven fires another arrow at the slavemaster. The arrow now sticks out from his back.
Initiatives:
1. Quiven, Leastrie, Boomkin, Amarth, and Octavio
2. Graestos and Isehkta, his cheetah
Boomkin, Amarth, and Octavio are up! Yes, Octavio can go ahead and move up and hit instead of readying if that's what you want to do.

EndlessForms |

Boomkin rushes up and readies his quarterstaff while Amarth runs up to the front of the battle.
Initiatives:
1. Quiven, Leastrie, Boomkin, Amarth, and Octavio
2. Graestos and Isehkta, his cheetah
Octavio has a chance to act unless wants to keep his readied action!

![]() |

Octavio steps through his companions towards the Aspis agent. His flail dangles patiently. Taking a wide arc, he drives the flail head at the taskmaster:
attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

![]() |

Useless? Nah, you make a great shield. :)

![]() |

maybe so, but we are very short on healing, so this could be risky. Octavio, despite a high intelligence is not much of a thinker in battle, and his chivalrous outlook means his companion's safety is his highest priority.

EndlessForms |

Octavio moves up to swing but trips a bit and whiffs. Graestos steps back from Octavio and tries to pull his feet out from under him using the whip in his hand.
trip attempt: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Octavio falls to the ground (-4 AC). He then orders his cheetah to attack Octavio.
bite attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
claw: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
damage: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
claw: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
damage: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Initiatives:
1. Quiven, Leastrie, Boomkin, Amarth, and Octavio
2. Graestos and Isehkta, his cheetah
You guys are up!

EndlessForms |

Leastrie charges into battle and nearly knocks the man over with a mighty swing.
Initiatives:
1. Quiven, Leastrie, Boomkin, Amarth, and Octavio
2. Graestos and Isehkta, his cheetah
Quiven, Boomkin, Amarth, and Octavio are up!

![]() |

Amarthecthel infuses himself with more magic, dashing past the cheetah and running swiftly around the room to come at the Taskmaster from behind.
Spend a spell point for Spelldance. It allows me a 40' movement and +2 AC vs. Attacks of Opportunity. Move clockwise around the room to flank the Taskmaster. This will provoke an AoO from the cheetah (and any slaves that feel like taking a swing).
Amarthecthel's attack, with Flank bonus: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 4 + 2 = 261d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Critical threat confirmation: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 4 + 2 = 20
Additional damage from critical hit: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Total damage if Taskmaster's AC is 20 or below: 4. Otherwise, 2.
Amarthecthel's AC v. AoO: AC 20

![]() |

Quiven steps closer to the battle and fires off another arrow at the taskmaster.
Bow: 1d20 + 6 - 4 ⇒ (17) + 6 - 4 = 19
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1

EndlessForms |

Amarth runs up and with a dashingly brilliant maneuver and downs the taskmaster with one hit. Having seen his master fall, the cheetah backs down meekly before the party and crawls away in a corner to cry.
Out of combat.
The slavemaster was carrying a scroll of lesser restoration, a tanglefoot bag, +1 studded leather, a masterwork whip, a spell-component pouch, a bronze Aspis consortium badge, and a bill of slave purchase.

EndlessForms |

One of the slaves responds meekly, "My name is Darvius. This is Marcia, Davis, and Gregor. We were purchased from slave markets in Okeno. We spent months rowing a galley before we were given a sleeping draught and awoke here. They call it the tapestry, whatever that means."

EndlessForms |

"There are well over 20 agents here; they come and go. Leska, she seems to be in charge, left a few days ago with her lieutenant—a mysterious man
with a Tian accent who didn't seem to be one of them-and a ratfolk who arrived a few days earlier and had been treated with exceptional respect. We have no idea where they were going or how long they'll be away, however."

![]() |

"This is disturbing news. Over 20 agents?" Do you know anything of their habits, maybe where they stay or their schedule?"
20 agents or more? Well we have dispatched 4, so...maybe 16, as long as we can find them in small groups or alone we shouldn't have much trouble.
Turning back to his companions, Octavio offers,"I suggest that we tread carefully, they are still not suspecting us so we have that advantage at least."

![]() |

Sure, I can do that. Umm, which way am I scouting? Quiven waits for the group to make a decision as to which way they are going next.

![]() |

Oh, OK. I can go take a look. Quiven will quietly take a peek inside the doorway and, if it looks safe enough, go slowly inside in order to scout the room inside.
Stealth: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (9) + 13 = 22

![]() |

Octavio looks at Leastrie and in a soft voice says,"I must say Oakenleaf, you were quite correct; Quiven is indeed talented and his skills are proving quite the boon!"

EndlessForms |

Quiven creeps forward to the chamber to the west. This shrine looks as though it was constructed yesterday, its intricate stonework unblemished by time, vandals, or weather. A statue of a beautiful four-armed woman bearing a scroll in each hand rests beneath a tall spire. Images of daring acts of heroism, long journeys, and unrequited love fill the walls.
Knowledge (religion) checks.

![]() |

Well, a cold breeze for one. Yeah I know, imagine that considering where we are. Quiven states calmly. Umm, but I swear I heard someone, or something, sigh. You know, like they were sad or alone or something. Maybe you should come in after I'm sure its safe.
Perception, for traps and nasty stuff: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19

EndlessForms |

Already rolled Perception for Quiven, you already got what you can.
Leastrie does not recognize the statue but has the feeling that one should offer the statue a ritual of gratitude for its protection of the temple.

![]() |

Cautiously Quiven will move a bit further into the room, his curiosity getting the best of him. I'm just moving up to take a lookie around this corner, Leastrie.

![]() |

"Quiven, I am right behind you. Be not afraid friend!"
Octavio places a firm hand on Quiven's shoulder as he moves off, and follows after him shortly thereafter.
