What's the DC on the barkeep check?

Nathon frowns at the list of beers. He doesn't recognize any of them but the Dragon's ale and that one isn't a favorite of his.
"Are any of these Pilsners?"

Give me an Ager's 11. Ezekial sips the ale and continues to get a feel for the room.
Fort: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Thraxin "The Dashing Devil" Kyr
Thraxin waits for the barkeep to get Dune's drink and speaks to the group in a low tone, "Maybe we should send them some drinks and see how loose there tongues can get." He nods over to a table with the two buzzed guards.
Then when the barkeep returns, "I'll take a Agers 11 as well."
Nathon Hummel
"I'll join the others in an Agers, I guess." Nathon flips a gold piece onto the counter. "And I'll pick up this round for all of us."
He considers Thraxin's plan, then adds, "And another of whatever the baron's men are drinking."

What was the DC on the know(local) versus the bartender?
Fort Save: 1d1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
Nathon sips the beer experimentally, then smiles and takes a deeper draught. He looks around at his companions, and announces, "Not bad after a dusty journey."
More quietly he adds, "Who wants to approach the guards?"
Simon Sigeh
Simon immediately slips an arm across Tarasi's shoulders, bracing her up -- and directs a flat glare at anyone giving her any opportunistic looks.
"Water and tea for the lady," he tells the barkeep. "And a private room for her to recover in."

So barkeep, we just arrived with a caravan. Security seemed more, well, secure than normal coming in. What gives?
Nathon Hummel
Nathon looks around at the others. Guess it's up to me, and maybe Darian. He tries to catch Darian's eye and jerks his head toward the guardsmen. Then he pushes off from the bar and saunters toward the baron's men.
Mind if I or we if Darian comes along sit down with you gents? I'm new in town and need to learn the lay of the land." Disarming smile, slight hoist of the beer mug.
Diplomacy, take 10 to start. If I have to roll, then 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
Nathon flatters the guards, "the guardsmen always know what's really on with the quality before everyone except the bed-maids". He'll try to get the guards' views on the town's chances and what the baron is likely to do with "half the Andoran Army camped outside his walls." He plays it like he might be looking for a job. "Would the baron be looking for more swords? How's the pay?" If asked about himself he uses the cover story. "Me and my mates, were guarding the caravan that just arrived. We were hoping to deliver the goods and get out before the Andoran's arrived, but their army was just too fast. Looks like we're stuck here now." He definitely tries to keep it gossipy. No direct questions about the defenses, the number of the baron's men, or other questions a spy might be interested in.
Darian Furkin
Darian looks a bit disconcerted when Nathon signals him to come with him, but goes along, bringing his mead and water with him.
Assuming the guards let them sit down, he takes a seat at the table, but doesn't say anything, just drinks from his mugs, it's obvious he's uncomfortable.
Simon Sigeh
Simon gets Tarasi into a room, settles her on the bed, puts the water jug within her reach and parks a chair in front of the door.
"Yes," he agrees, "you should have stuck to tea. Drink lots of water and then sleep. I'll sit guard. No funny business."
Nathon Hummel
Guard ??:
"We don't mind so long as you can pay and play, ha ha ha."
Nathon smiles at the feeble jest and slides into a chair. "Paying that's always the thing isn't? And while I've got a bit of coin now, I don't have many prospects of earning more until this siege is lifted unless the baron is hiring. I was wondering if he is hiring, and what sort of man he is to work for."
Nathon Hummel
"Well how's the duty? Are the officers right bastards? Can you get a full night's sleep? Do they issue decent gear or do you end up buying your own? Is it a good life working for the baron?"
"As for making coin with coin, the only way I know to do that is ganbling, and I've got a beggar's luck. I never come out ahead."

The customers are a mixed bag emotions, though some of them seem to be expecting something, like a performance on the tavern's stage.

"It's not bad, as for sleep, it depends on the person and their job.
Are gear is semi-paid at low ranks, though I don't know about higher ranks."

Zeke listens, watching the others in the inn in case someone show too much interest.
Nathon Hummel
"Hmmm" Nathon sips his beer. "That is different. How do they know you want to be a guard? Are do they just look for the fittest men in town?"
If I'm holding anything up, we can cut this short, if you like, AZ. This is an interesting wrinkle though.

Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Nathon Hummel
Nathon shakes his head, "Sounds like our chances of picking up a new job with the baron are slim. What about rich folks who would want their home and belongings protected if the Andorans break through. Anyone like that in town?"
The last question is really just to provide cover. Doesn't sound like we're going to learn much from the guards.
