Ooooh~

Good idea, Sashin! ^^ That's the kind of thing a dragon can't refuse so easily!

Female Changeling Intrigue Oracle 3 (covetous curse)

I am about 100% in the mindset of a dragon.

Besides, it's a legitimate challenge; if I/we win, I'm taking his lair as my own.
That's how these things work.

@Yin, I was thinking that you ready Telekinetic Charge to go off when he's within range.
Whether or not you want to get some form of Invisibility up or not is your choice, but that 110 foot range would be fantastic.

Female Changeling Intrigue Oracle 3 (covetous curse)

Hey, Rednal, do you have any plans for after this module?

I was really hoping you'd step up to the plate (again, that is), and keep the group together.

I was thinking maybe another level, and/or mythic tier?
Defeating this guy has got to be worth that much, at least.

All of this depends on whether or not we survive, of course.

Not for these characters, no. I offered one module, and I meant one module. Though, you can definitely figure that anyone who survives would have gotten a level. XD I also plan to open a new recruitment thread after this, workin' with some of the ideas I've got...

Female Changeling Intrigue Oracle 3 (covetous curse)

Aww, dang.
Worth a shot.

Would the new one work similar to this?
I really like playing a dragon xD

Though I might try a new type, if you even say yes to dragons. xD

Almost certainly gestalt. Probably not mythic. I haven't hammered out enough ideas yet, really, to be able to answer many questions about it. XD

Female Changeling Intrigue Oracle 3 (covetous curse)

Alright, I can't wait!

Be sure to let me know when you put it up, I'll definitely apply!

If she truly understands the planes, I think she would know that some planes are harmful to some creatures - if only because she probably, like, spent a week or two warping every kitten she could find to the Shadow Plane, not realizing that the foul energies would infuse their bodies and she'd later be attacked by a pack of small undead shadow-cats that constantly leaped out of her own shadow to get revenge.

Or something.

(That, and I'd expect any Gossamer Lord to have a basic, functional knowledge of how worlds and planes can differ, simply by virtue of their position)

I do understand the planes, truly so. Thats not the problem. The question was if she makes the connection between these people being humans and the fact that humans have specific planar needs :)

Also, I'm warping kittens into a major positive energy plane. Filling them with so much life energy they burst in joyous fluffy fireworks.
I expect meowing ghost celestial kittens to haunt me at somet time. Or the Catlord to try and have a word with me. Or Rakshasa's taking offense at me warping lesser Rakshasas into fluffy Death Row. Or an Eternal Cat haunting me by coming back over and over. Or the Cheshire Cat stalking me.

But aye, I take it, I know whats good for most races and whats not when it comes to planes, and it's so "basic" for me that I don't really have to remember it, but intuitively make a correct decision.

On another note: Is the Mist with my Innocents or with Mineires?
@Sashin: The others as collateral, fine...the dragon if unchecked will probably kill more, but if the mist is at my pen, I WILL whisk Marita away before joining the battle...

The mist is by yours, Yin.

Female Changeling Intrigue Oracle 3 (covetous curse)

Well, crap.

That's fine, Yin, we've done the best we can.

I'm sure the two dragons will end up separated at some point, hopefully me chasing it to it's lair, so you can just help me out there.

I've got 2 mythic points left, so I can deal with it.
Just, come help when you can; this dragon is most certainly above my ability to handle.

Incidentally, going visually, you can tell that the other dragon is Huge - and bordering on Gargantuan. As with most dragons, it's long instead of wide (unless you count the wings).

Female Changeling Intrigue Oracle 3 (covetous curse)

Oh, fantastic. That makes it soooo much easier.

I know what Huge dragons get. It ain't pretty.

This is gonna be epic, one way or another.

Well, I just lose one action I could have used to ready something. I'll be with you right next round, and either deliver you on your promised charge, or try and debuff him.

Did Barrett ever mention if this Dwagon is also undead and thus immune to things requiring fortitude saves?...I forgot if we had that info-

Not that I'm aware of.

Aaaaand I think we'll give Oneidros a little longer to post, then move on. ^^

Female Changeling Intrigue Oracle 3 (covetous curse)

I'm not sure what I want to do next round, however.
Help, guys?

First, I've got to survive the dragon's attack.
It might be a Champion, so it could pull the same trick I have.
Might need some Inflict healing soon.

I could either:
Hope s/he's too far away to pull the full-attack trick, and wait for Yin to Charge me.
Or.
Buff again, not sure what spell, and then getting a combat feat via Martial Flexibility.

Now, this choice really depends on what the other dragon does, but I'm his trying to get my options together.

Female Changeling Intrigue Oracle 3 (covetous curse)

Okay, that went as well as could have been hoped for.

Question, is there a Reflex save for half? Not that any is going to go through, but that fire resist is precious during this fight.

Yes, there is. I should probably go edit that in.

well, you survived :)...do you WANT to charge it?
Since I'm hasted, I could interpose myself between you, then hurl you at it.

If you don't, I'll probably test the theory regarding immunity to fortitude saves and try to throw a ray of exhaustion its way(it will make the fort save...but that means it'll be fatigued)...if thats not going to work, I can always try feebleminding it, too.

Make it a stupid tired oversized lizard.

I could start keying up full attacks. It's touch AC can't be that good so I got that going for me, plus my miss chance comes back online this round.

I don't really have any good options besides attacking right now.

Female Changeling Intrigue Oracle 3 (covetous curse)

I think I'm gonna call my favor in, and get a Telekinetc Charge.

On my actual turn, I'll use a swift action for my breath weapon, maybe it'll take half of 8d8, followed with frightful presence ( it's gonna pass, but might as well), and then full attack.

@breath weapon, it's that or the attack on telekinetic charge, as that would take inmediate action from you...posting now :)

Female Changeling Intrigue Oracle 3 (covetous curse)

Well, this is embarrassing. Forgot about that.

Do we want to try to grapple the beast before my full attack, or try the breath weapon?
Thoughts?

no idea. I know nothing about this one, and Barrett only shared choice parts with us I guess.

Could be negative energy is actually tasty for it. Or that it has improved evasion. Or that it's the best idea since cutting off the outside part of sandwiches.

I doubt you would be able to maintain a grapple, if you ever hit its CMD. You would have to roll pretty fierce to beat your OWN CMD if you were to try and grapple yourself.
Maybe you could instead try and "latch on" *gg*
If your manevourability is better than it's, you may be able to stay in a position where he can't reasonably bring all his attacks to bear against you, but that whole idea would be houserule-territory, so totally not up to me.

Really, your guess is as good as mine.

You may specify that you wait for Oneidros action though, if he provides a flank, your Full attack will have a better chance. Sorry, only advice I can offer right now.

You guys have the same info I do, albeit not verbatim (with the exception of Sashin and Mineire). If it's got some crazy nonsense powers then that's news to me.

Female Changeling Intrigue Oracle 3 (covetous curse)

@Yin, my grapple bonus is actually +35.
With Haste and being higher than it, it's a +37.
That'd grapple me on a 2.
Besides, you get a +5 to grapple a creature that is already grappled, in addition to the -4 Dex penalty.

The most likely thing to happen is that she breaks out, and flies away, either to escape or try another pass.
I think the grapple check with the immediate is the way I'll go, then full attack.

Away from my computer right now, though, and it's a lot of math/typing, so I'll post when I get home.

@Barrett, meant that post by GM:

Quote:

p: If nobody ELSE is attacking, the dragon would probably just toss Barrett's body back down and move on, and you could use this to get a better sense of how deadly it really is. Although... *Chuckles*

Edit: Also, Barrett may want to look at the Legend of Horranath one more time...

I know you answered but since he only called out you it may be you omitted a seemingly minor detail when telling us. No idea if thats so, but could be.

I looked back, and you said:

Quote:

"Well, he wasn't the only one who wanted the Stone. A dragon named Horranath came riding in on a wave of fire, hell bent on getting that rock. She was invincible: swords, spells, arrows, it didn't matter, nothing could penetrate that hide. It came that Tesh himself stood in front of her."

"He didn't last a damned minute. She ate him AND the Stone of Eternity, 'cept it wouldn't be the Stone of Eternity much longer. See, all them dead folk got pulled into the stone and then all twisted up in the belly of the beast. It became the necropyre; a prison of fire for the thousands of dead that had once been the citizens of Talamir. And Horranath? She settled in for a nice long nap."

"That is, that's how the legend went. The dragon that torched this place? I think it's Horranath, woken up for whatever reason. I also think it's awful convenient for Eldran Tesh to be showing up just around the same time she made her appearance, what with him having been dead for a couple of centuries at least."

That invincibility part sounds interesting. Nothing could penetrate the hide. The spells part could be just SR, or it could be a Tarrasquian type immunity.

You also mention the Stone of Eternity becoming the "Necropyre" in it's Belly, but there's no mention of it doing anything. But if it's a prison for a couple thousand souls that got absorbed I would not feel very comfortable about using negative energy on that Dragon, for example.
As said, no idea, but I would guess it does SOMETHING if it's called out in the stories as more than just the discordian apple of Tesh and Horranath...

@Sashin, it may also reverse the grapple, and keep you near it ;)

Quote:
The city of Talamir was the jewel of eastern Taldor. Talamir’s mines reached deep into the World’s Edge Mountains, and there the miners found gems of extraordinary quality and size. Greatest of them all was the Stone of Eternity, a gem that drew bright souls to it. Some said that there was a paradise within the stone, a heaven for those who could find their way within. The lord of Taldor, Eldran Tesh, took the stone as his own, swearing to find a way to create a paradise for all of his people. But darker powers stirred when the stone was pulled from the mountain, and Blackpeak exploded in flame. The lava swept down onto Talamir, but something came with it—the dragon Horranath. She swooped down upon the bright city, spreading darkness before her. No spell could touch her, nor could arrow pierce her hide, and the towers fell before her flames. Finally she faced Eldran Tesh himself, and swallowed prince and stone alike. Tainted by a thousand murders and the heat in her belly, the gem became the necropyre stone, and the soul of anyone slain by her fires was drawn into the stone and trapped for eternity. As the lava flowed over Talamir, Horranath returned to her lair. Warmed and sustained by the tormented souls within her, she settled down to a sleep of centuries, slowly digesting the tortured dead of Talamir.

Here's the entire legend as it was presented to me. I though I got most of it covered in my rendition but, like I said, if there's something deeper I probably missed out on it.

You should probably make plans for both successful and unsuccessful grapple attempts, just in case.

@Oneidros: Unfortunately, as planar travelers, you don't have much knowledge about this specific creature. However, she's an old, powerful dragon - in addition to her natural abilities (a bit greater than those of most adult reds, given her size), she probably has treasures from her hoard helping to protect her - in addition to whatever the heck the crystal is doing for her, of course. Dragons generally have no bad saves, though given the size of adults, their reflex does tend to lag a bit behind. So... good, but not AS good.

You did an excellent job with your rendition(which I really enjoyed, btw)...I just hoped there may have been something else in there, some miniscule detail.

But I'm lost, too. Paradise turned into hell, tormented souls sustain and feed her, darkness-spreading spell-immune piercing-immune tower-melting prince-swallower.

Oh well. you're not a prince, right? She won't swallow you whole and fly off?
But seriously, I have no idea either what you're missing there.

My only guess is that maybe if she kills you it immediately saps your soul, so no revives? But other than that I'm at a loss.

I mean, I think the Necropyre is still inside her and we could try getting at it and blowing it up. That's bound to do something, right?

@Barrett: *Ding ding ding*

Female Changeling Intrigue Oracle 3 (covetous curse)

Hey! Feeding on tormented souls is my thing!

Just another reason to slaughter this thing.

Aye. You mean like, planeshift her to kitty heaven?(Positive Energy plane), then dimensional anchor her there?

Maybe it's all meta, and we have to "die" so we can get sucked into the prison and destroy it from within, blowing up the dragon around it in the process? ^_^

Soulsapping seems a given. If it's nourishing her, probably also fast healing or regeneration.

Or, and thats worse, we just had a undead incorporeal swarm.

If all those tormented swallowed souls allowe her to go into "swarm form" like a vampire, only its incorporeal tiny ghosts, then I'll head to the Gossamer World entrance, go back to the stair, and have this world sealed off as a trap for the dwimmerlaik.

@Sashin: I think that was the problem in the first place. That being said: we'd have to be able to get into her belly somehow. Something I think she'd take exception to.

For a split-second I wondered just what would happen if I were to target the Necropyre with "Stone to Flesh". My guess is nothing good.

Female Changeling Intrigue Oracle 3 (covetous curse)

I don't about all this "cutting it out" of her or anything, but I see another dragon.

And I'm gonna wrassle' it.

Edit: tormented souls is definitely undead, and that's my realm. Besides, you know, incorporeal, undead, swarms. Three sets of immunities!

*stares coldy at Rednal with both heads*

@Sashin....nope, a prison gemstone tormenting thousands of souls it swallowed in their fiery death? Sounds like the stuff of nightmares. I'll need to take custodianship over it :)
But I guess we could work out a deal where you can have it on the weekends, and for a week on the holidays, as long as you don't turn it against me by doing only fun things with it.0

As for finding the Necropyre in her...I could possible "sneak" into her mouth, and find it. But then what? I would guess it counts as "attended".

I wonder what would happen if someone where to cast a blade barrier in that dragons belly...

Falcon Punch? The number #1 remedy of teen pregnancy?

It could be crazy enough to work. Put planar binding takes too long...

oh, I know what I'd do if I find it and can't jump away with it :)

Quote:
At 9th level, you can use the Stealth skill even while being observed and without cover or concealment, as long as you are within 10 feet of a shadow other than your own. In addition, when within an area of darkness or dim light, as a standard action you may choose to switch places with a willing ally within 60 feet, who must also be in darkness or dim light.

I'll just swap and have Sashin be inside :) It could be reasonably argued you are save from any and all attacks except the swallow damage while unloading at it from inside with full attacks, no matter where it moves.

Or, if we have some time, we could have Mineire load up his Wagon with explosives.

Then i rush into the Dragon, one of you carries Mineire next to it, someone else casts Darkness, I swap, Mineire calls in his Wagon inside the Dragon, dispels the plane holding the explosives, then the next round we all jump as FAR away as possible and watch the thermonuclear explosion of a mythic dragon! Case solved!

I don't even know how to go about destroying something like that. My first instinct, like everything else, would be to shoot it mercilessly.

We should have tried asking nicely.
