I'll take the other weapon 3 if no one else wants it. Otherwise, no deck upgrade this time.

Will take Ambusher Role and the power feat []Add 1d6 to the first check of your turn.

Deck Upgrade: Ally 1: 1d1000 ⇒ 185

3-3E summary
Redgar/Radillo No upgrade, "[x] When any character at your location attempts a check to defeat a monster,", Discount Hadden Hoppert

Redelia/Seelah - Weapon 3, Hospitaler role, "[X]During your turn, you may bury a Divine card" Need Trader reward pick (Adventure reward)

Greenclaw/Flenta - Ally 1, Martial Adept role, "you may recharge it ([X] or shuffle it into your deck) instead." Discount Hadden Hoppert

Marjim Marc Arafiles/Adowyn - Weapon 3, Ambusher role, "[X]Add 1d6 to the first check of your turn" Need Trader reward pick (Adventure reward)

I'll get chronicles posted once I get that last bit of info from Seelah/Adowyn. If you need help picking and are OK with minor spoilers, please click below

WARNING: MINOR SPOILING (foreshadowing):
If you are unsure of which trader to discount, I suggest Ghoul Market because preventing elemental damage will continue to be more and more important with each AP. This by no means is required but will come in handy if you're otherwise not using traders much currently.

Seeelah will take Ghoul Market.
(not that I have any intention of ever using a trader with her; I strongly dislike that mechanic, and so just ignore it)

Adowyn will go with Ghoul Market as well.

Temporary Break
It sounds like the majority is OK with a temporary break for the holidays and Retrocon. I'll go ahead and mark this as inactive in a few days. Towards the end of retrocon I'll make it active again so we can muster for AD4. Great work everyone and happy holidays!

Box Runner

Hi all,
I know ACG component of Retrocon has finished but there are still other RPG specials going on. What is everyone's availability? We can start same time as GameDay (march 11) unless everyone is ready to start sooner. Just let me know what works for you!

Thanks!

I'm all done with the Con, and am ready to rock! :)

Character Deck Upgrade Prefs: Weapon 5/4 > Item 5 > Ally 5/4 > Blessing 5

Ready to go now or whenever suits everyone else.

Box Runner

Hi all, at some point I got the start date of gameday mixed up (clearly after my last post) and thought it started the 18th so sorry about that. Would've posted again sooner had I not mixed up the dates in my head.

Still waiting to hear back from Adowyn/Marjim. I'll send a PM.

I'll try to get table set-up in next day or so, and if Adowyn can't join us I'll take out the last location.

Sorry. Just read about the updates. I'm in.

Radillo isn't dying to snag any of the upgrades this time.

She can start chugging along, increasing the AD #'s of her Allies, and the Ally 4 might be neat (could mess around with an Ice Chemist) but the existing AD 1 Rift Warden is fine for now if someone has an excellent Ally 4 they'd like to snag. (I'll be taking Tetisurah, the Loot Ally 3, in place of Rift Warden for this scenario anyway).

1d1000 ⇒ 139 for the Ally 4, in case it is preferred to roll off.

Alternatively, if the Item 2 is going spare, might as well upgrade from Sapphire of Int to Gem of Mental Acuity (or maybe Ring of Protection?) on principle.

Not fussed any which way, though.

Trader: Hadden Hoppert again.

Skill Feat: STR [X]+4

Weapon 4: 1d1000 ⇒ 475

Dexterity +3 for Skill Feat.

Ally 4: 1d1000 ⇒ 450

Box Runner

3-4A Escape from Manaket
Redgar/Radillo - item 2, skill feat
Redelia/Seelah - spell 3, skill feat
Greenclaw/Flenta - weapon 4, skill feat
Marjim Marc Arafiles/Adowyn - Ally 4, skill feat

Sounds like Redelia will be able to slowly work back into her normal routine. One thing we will need to decide is if we want to use the new core rules or continue with the old rules. For existing campaigns we have until August 1st before we are forced to convert to the new rules.

My vote's on old rules for now. I haven't had the time to read up on the new rules. Do they have a document for that one already?

Sorry for the delay, I'm wanting to kick things off again and I'll be better about checking in daily.

I think at this point since August 1st is rapidly approaching we should just plan to switch to the new rules now. We can take the next few weeks doing a "soft launch" and then after August 5th (after Gen Con ends) we can get into the full swing of things.

Conversion/new rules

Here's all the new stuff. I would start with "Transition Guide" on pg 26 of the rule book and then read over the Core Conversion FAQ.

Core rule book
Core conversion FAQ
Guide 6.0

Gameplay changes:
The two biggest gameplay changes that will affect us here are a Recovery step and a new stricter limit on playing cards:

• Recovery: Spells (and other cards that would get banished unless you succeed at a check) now go in a Recovery pile, and don't get dealt with until the end of your turn (after end of turn effects, before resetting your hand). This likely will impact Radillo the most, since recovery checks are done at end of turn, any spells she plays during her turn will go into a recovery pile until end of turn. Meaning she no longer can play augury, recharge augury, then fight a monster and get augury back in the same turn.

• Card limits: The entire party can only play one card per type on any given check. So only one blessing between the whole group. Cards that have the keyword "freely" on them get around this limit (For example, something like "Freely recharge this card to add 1d4...") Weapons and Spells that add dice/modifiers/rerolls to checks have been FAQd to automatically be played freely. Blessings, allies, etc have not.

Character changes:
• Radillo is now proficient with Mental skill. This will only really matter if you end up using core cards at some point, either by playing a core set, or using core-swaps, which i'll cover in a bit

• Flenta's spell power feat gets changed. Per FAQ: "Replace “After you play a spell that has the Arcane trait for its power, draw a random spell from the box that does not have an adventure deck number and has the Arcane trait and recharge it” with “After you play an Arcane spell for its power, recharge a new Arcane spell that is level #–2 or lower (minimum 0)”."

Tier Changes/hero Points
• You no longer always get your skill feat, power feats, and card feats at specific times such as the first scenario at your tier (skill), second scenario at your tier (power). Instead, winning a scenario gets you a Hero Point. The hero point can be used to get a feat of your choosing as long as you do not exceed the maximum number of feats of that type. Max number of feats is by default your tier. When we get a bonus feat, that max number increases permanently to Tier+1. Currently the group has not received a bonus feat, and everyone is tier 4. So your max number of feats is 4/4/4. (skill/power/card).

• You can also choose to not spend your hero point. Doing so lets you save them. You can using a single hero point to reroll all dice of a check. You can also spend All of your hero points to revive.

• All old die bumps are converted to hero points that cannot be spent on feats (so only can be used for rerolls/revive).

Core Swaps:
• There is a tentative rule Paizo is testing to help characters adjust to the new rules. If your class deck has a card that matches a Core/Curse card's name Exactly then you can swap your class deck card for the core card. You can then put these cards into your deck as long as both the new and old card are tier appropriate. So if we had a Monk they couldn't trade their AD-6 Confusion for a Core basic confusion and then use it in their deck because we're only tier 4. For the most part, this shouldn't impact anyone.

• This might be useful for some cards that have added local use functionality, or some cards like Good Omen which got a buff and are now 1d6+# (that # is new terminology for adventure deck number). You'd need to verify your core/curse ownership to make use of this rule. Since this is a tentative rule it's not in the OP guide yet, it's just been posted on the forums by Vic and if things go well it will eventually be added to the 6.1 version of OP guide.

• From my experience Witches and Wizards stand the most to gain from this rule since there were a lot more spells re-printed in Core/Curse with new card powers. For example the basic Lightning Touch card in the wizard class deck lets you use Arcane+2d4. The Core version of Lightning Touch lets you use Arcane+2d4 but then lets you ignore after acting powers against that monster. Which is a pretty nice buff.

Last thoughts
I know that's a lot of information, let's spend the next few weeks making sure we understand all that, reading through the Core rules/conversion FAQ/new OP book, and ask questions. Then let's slowly get ready to start August 5th which is after Gen Con. We can do a few turns before then if everyone is ready but I'm assuming we'll need to take a break for Gen Con (Aug 1-4) since at least 2 of us will be there.

Next scenario we need starting location from Seelah, and trader picks from everyone

Box Runner

Hi all, i'm back from gen con. I believe we are still waiting on starting location from Seelah and trader picks from everyone.

Let me know if you've had any questions from the conversion stuff!

Boooo. They nerf Radillo, then nerf her again... you'd think she's a scruffy nerf-herder or something. ;)

(Great power, no serious complaints. Might run out of combat spells at unfortunate points, though...)

If I understand correctly, though, you no longer receive a free feat when you receive your role card? So Radillo will have to uncheck a feat?

Re: Traders, sticking with my April 29th decision of Hadden Hoppert. ;)

Character Deck Upgrade Prefs: Weapon 5/4 > Item 5 > Ally 5/4 > Blessing 5

Flenta happy to visit Hoppert as well to help elicit some more options from him.

Re: Traders, sticking with my April 29th decision of Hadden Hoppert. ;)

Ah, good catch. I mispoke in my above post.

Everyone got a power feat from gaining their role under the old rules. This would increase your max number of power feats to tier+1.

I did a quick audit of everyone's characters, here's what I think needs to happen:

Flenta - You're good. 4/4/3 feats is where you're at. Max feats of 4/5/4 meaning you can get 1 power feat and 1 card feat this tier.

Seelah - You're good. 4/4/3 feats is where you're at. Max feats of 4/5/4 meaning you can get 1 power feat and 1 card feat this tier.

Adowyn - Looks like you only marked 3 skill feats, so you have 1 more skill feat from the last scenario we completed to bring you to a total of 4 skill feats. Max feats of 4/5/4 meaning you can get 1 power feat and 1 card feat this tier.

Radillo - I can't find your deck tracker but I believe you should be at 4/5/5 max feats. When we finish AD4 and get the adventure bonus card feat, you wouldn't get anything because you can only have 1 bonus feat of each type and you received a bonus card feat from last year's special. Feel free to send me the deck tracker and chronicles if you want me to take a closer look.

Thanks, and sorry! Thought I posted a while back.

[Seems I'm doing something wrong w/linking).

Will have to dig out her physical chronicles.

FYI Flenta had another FAQ (Added "You may" to her spell power feat.
Flenta FAQ

Character Deck Upgrade Prefs: Weapon 5/4 > Item 5 > Ally 5/4 > Blessing 5

Reward:
Drawing random blessings. Listing in order appearing on the PACG wiki, Fighter deck first then Ultimate Combat. 26 B-4 blessings remaining in box after excluding the 4 in Flenta's hand.
Rolling simultaneously, will reroll duplicates.
Random blessings: 3d26 ⇒ (17, 6, 8) = 31
Blessing of the Samurai, Blessing of Pharasma, Blessing of Pharasma

I don't really want any of those. Can I choose one but then decide not to replace one of my existing blessings or do I have to get rid of one the cards I already have?

Deck Upgrade
Blessing 4: 1d1000 ⇒ 971 Blessing of the Lord of Iron
Ally 4: 1d1000 ⇒ 313 Mighty Steed

Hero Points
Spending a hero point to get a card feat: Spell [x]4. Adding Paralyze to deck.

19 blessings to choose from; using them in the order they appear in my binder, paladin class deck (6) then ultimate equipment(13).

3d19 ⇒ (7, 18, 2) = 27
Blessing of Besmara
Blessing of the Palid Princess
Blessing of Pulura

Taking Blessing of the Palid Princess, using it to fill a new blessing slot as my card feat.

deck upgrade:
Blessing 4: 1d1000 ⇒ 62

14 blessings Class Deck + 13 Ultimate Magic = 3d27 ⇒ (9, 4, 11) = 24 Blessings of Gozreh (2), the Gods (B) and Pharasma (3).

Meh. Hard pass to all.

Not interested in any of the upgrades. Can't gain a feat, so banking a HP.

Just waiting on Adowyn's rewards

Flenta by Greenclaw wrote:

You can choose not to replace one one of your existing blessings.

Grand Lodge

spreadsheet

Blessings: 3d8 ⇒ (6, 4, 3) = 13

Will have to pass on the blessing card. For the hero point, I'll spend it on the check box that says [] and to all checks during the first exploration of your turn.

Ally 4: 1d1000 ⇒ 566

Box Runner

3-4B:
Redgar/Radillo - n/a upgrade. saved hero point, 4 hero points saved
Redelia/Seelah - n/a upgrade spell 4 and armor 4 were not taken in case you want one. , Blessing of the Palid Princess (from reward), card feat, 3 hero points saved
Greenclaw/Flenta - Blessing 4, card feat, 3 hero points saved,
Marjim Marc Arafiles/Adowyn - Ally 4, power feat, 3 hero points saved

Hero points saved. When we converted everyone got die bumps converted to hero points. I don't have great records of these since previously they were on player chronicles after they left my hands. I'm going to mark everyone down for 3 hero points (from 3 die bumps from prior adventures). Radillo will have 4 since he saved one this scenario. If anyone feels this is incorrect for them, please let me know and i can adjust. Going forward the new chronicles track this on there so it should be easy for me to track.

Actually, I'll take that spell 4 to swap out my Cure for Mass Cure.

Box Runner

updated, thanks!

Oh! I should note that I think Radillo only has 3 HP, including the one banked from this scenario? My notes show 5 earned, 2 used.

Box Runner

As an FYI, this scenario has a conditional reward:

Quote:

If the location Altar of Riddles is closed when you win the scenario, for the rest of the Adventure Path,

1 character may temporarily replace 1 item in his deck with the loot Mythopoeic Sphinx if that character recites
the Mythopoeic Curse when doing so. At the end of each scenario, return the loot to the game box.

Since this is played via play-by-post I'll provide the following which might help: picture from the scenario PDF (link)

Full disclosure, the answer is available on the internet. I'm not going to police whether you solve this by yourself or look up the answer. I just ask that if/when posting the solution to the riddle you post it in spoilers in case anyone out there wants to figure it out themselves.

Character Deck Upgrade Prefs: Weapon 5/4 > Item 5 > Ally 5/4 > Blessing 5

Spend a hero point to take a Power Feat:

[X] When you play a blessing to add to a Strength check, you may add a d12 instead of the normal die.

Weapon 4: 1d1000 ⇒ 448 Frost Lance +2

no deck upgrades,

power feat to recharge blessing of Iomedae

Ditto for Radillo.

3-4D summary Seelah can still take an upgrade later if she wants

Also I see Seelah took the powerfeat to recharge BoIomedae. so possibly Seelah will want a BlessingB from last scenario to replace one of her blessings.

Radillo will pass on the Scenario reward.

Radillo will also pass on upgrades*

HP net +2 (9 earned overall, 5 remaining, if my math is correct).

*unless absolutely no-one else wants the Spell 4 and it is just being discarded, in which case I'll swap find another Spell 4 to swap for Displacement. But it's really just taking one card I definitely won't use for another card I won't use. Deckchairs on the Titanic, and all that. I'd rather a team-mate get good use of a Spell 4 if at all possible.

which armors: 3d21 ⇒ (4, 15, 10) = 29

helm (paladin deck b)
burglar's buckler (ult. equip 2)
black dragon breastplate (paladin 4)

replacing full plate with black dragonhide breastplate

deck upgrade: armor 4: 1d1000 ⇒ 709 ebon thorn
