How does Mud's Damage Shield work?

You have to engage it to start with, since you don't really want to walk around hurting people you bump into, shredding trees, etc. Once you turn it on, anything that hits you or you hit takes 12D6 damage, including the ground, things you brush against, your own allies if someone throws/knocks them into you... etc...

He wasn't sure how much effect this "wind blast" was having, and it seemed that he was able to use his abilities in a similar enough manner to when he was on fire. He focussed, and threw his focussed blast. Normally this meant his flame was more like a cutting torch. He had no idea what it'd be like here.

Violet locks onto Pulse's mind, finding it about 8 meters inside the snake.

As Pulse continues to get buffeted around by separate blasts, she comes over the mindlink. There are bits filtered out by Pulse not wanting to let it be too obvious how much danger she's in. ::God, it hurts. Remember training. Hit it together, not separately. I should be able to fire again on three...::. And she begins counting up, immediately; not perfectly synced with a second hand, though.

Pulse is suggesting the team members that haven't gone delay until 8:0 to coordinate with her.

That’s not very heroic. Especially with Pulse swallowed. Plus, Vi spent an action that didn’t affect to role play learning. So, I really appreciate the game mechanics advice. I really need it. But, I’ll take the stupid, unoptimal action this time and see if he survives. Thanks

Mud grabs the snake's snout. This gives him the advantage of not being swallowed, but it also keeps the fangs embedded in his body, meaning they continue to pump poison into his body.

On phase 9, Mud will take 2 poison attacks, and take the higher damage from the two

Phase 8

Ok, I'm confused. Are you trying to break out of the grab, or are you trying to grab the snake? You posted you were prying yourself out (which is freeing yourself), but then when I pointed out going desolid was the best way, you said you were grabbing the snake. That would prevent being swallowed, but it wouldn't get you out of the grab. You can try to free yourself, but if that's what you're trying to do, then turning desolid would work better. If you're trying to grab the snake and free yourself from the grab, that's a reversal, and you have to have the right martial art skill to do that in one action, which you don't. Without that martial art skill, you have to break free of the grab, and then execute a grab on your next action.

Segment 6

Wow. I didn’t understand that it took two actions to reverse a grab. OK Final answer. Did the damage shield affect the snake?

Mud liquifies letting the fangs flow through him. He then slides down the throat of the snake in search of Pulse.

The snake jerked it's head, but didn't let go, so maybe?

Mud will take damage from the acid, even in desolid form, due to his special effect, if he slides down the throat. Are you ok with that?

Yes. Mud wouldn’t know about the acid, and Pulse is down there. Thanks

Phase 8

::Two... THREE!:: Pulse shouts mentally, before pouring more of her Buckyballs down the snake's throat. She'd already readied her concentric circles, so now it was just... letting go of more of her armor. Damnit.

Coordinate: 13 - 3d6 - 2 ⇒ 13 - (1, 6, 2) - 2 = 2
Coordinating with Aegis, please succeed!

Damage: 11d6 + 1 ⇒ (5, 5, 3, 5, 6, 1, 5, 3, 6, 3, 2) + 1 = 45
12 body, 45 stun. Pushing for another 10 end again; meaning another 18 spent this round 7 on power, 10 on push, 1 on not breathing.

Regardless of the result, she calls out mentally, ::Good job, guys! All together again in a couple seconds!:: and so, she starts to count up, again.
Pulse proposes coordinating on 10 this time. There's a good chance the snake will run (to come back through and grab someone else?), but Pulse doesn't know that. If folks don't want to coordinate, please say something so she can hold her action (if she's not KO'd) to blind it to make it an easier target, at the very least.

Aegis didn't act on Phase 6. :) I have added color coding on the known meta page.

Pulse shouldn't delay, because she's one bad roll from unconscious. So, she asked folks to delay to her action to segment 8.

After she tries to coordinate this time, she's asking them to wait until segment 10 - if she stops counting, they'll know she's KO'd. If she doesn't, it's another 'go on three'.

Can we get more information than that? How did the snake react to Blaze's Rasenshuriken? How did it react to Aegis and Pulse hitting at the same time on Phase 8? Have we once more retconned to Mud having grabbed the snake since the venom wasn't dangerous to him?

Sorry, yesterday got busier than I expected, and doing a combat round is complicated, I finally had to do a spreadsheet to keep track of the snake's damage correctly, since a combat round takes days. Plus it took longer to do some things I needed to do than I thought it would, since I had to do it for two characters instead of one. <looks sideways sneakily>

Mud solidifies and does damage to the creature's insides, he knows he did because he can taste a coppery blood taste mixed in with the acid. Since he no longer has blood, he knows it's the snakes. However, it is still moving.

::Pulse, Are you ok?:: Aegis screams through the mind link as she tramples through the forest after the bolt.

Noncombat movement in a direct line to the lightning.

::On my way,:: Blaze sent back. ::C'mon Pulse…say something. Insult me. Call me an airhead—it'd be appropriate right now. Anything…

Blaze will also do noncombat flight toward the disturbance

::I'm fine. Just get me out of this thing. One.::. Pulse replies to everyone simultaneously. Her response is cut short and terse compared to her normally unfocused, meandering mental responses.

Pulse:

Warning, additional hostiles in area. Unable to sense hostiles due to hostiles emanations. Estimate two to four additional hostiles. Unable to localize threat. There is a pause. Strongly suggest exiting unknown Serpentes.

Pulse manages to drag herself out of the hole she's carved in the snake. ::Mud, you can come out through the hole we just opened, just keep coming this way. We still have incoming bogeys. Two or more incoming. Probably better to stay muddy.::

Pulse is covered in burn wounds from the acid and has a pair of deep gouges in her armor. Most of her armor is still intact, but it's missing a huge chunk from her right arm and left flank. The armor itself is having difficulty holding itself in place, while it normally is form fitting, arcs of electricity, and something multicolored is filling the empty spaces and causing fissures which slowly reconcile themselves in her armor. Her helmet still masks her head and face, though it also has the cracks arcing through it. The cracks are opaque, unlike her old force field, but otherwise identical.

::How do you feel about snake-leather whips, Aegis?:: she asks, inclining her head towards the extremely-wounded, if-not-dead creature. ::I need a minute for a breather, if we can manage it.::

I didn't pay for my force field last turn, so I'm paying 4 for it this turn.

Kitty:
Thanks, uh... Ping. Did you do this, or do we have a guardian angel out there? If it's the latter, do we know anyone?

Violet keeps closing on the Pulse's location, defenses up and keeping an eye out. If the other incoming hostiles are more snakes, there's not a whole lot she can do. Maybe try to pick up rocks and throw them? She briefly wonders how big of a rock would she need to fling with her brain to knock out a giant snake?

I assumed Mud went before Pulse in 12, because the poison had her slower than everyone as she posted in Discussion

I’ll wait to post Mud’s Phase 3, because he’s usually the last to go.
